not attempt to install the device yourself if you lack these qualifications as improper installation
may result in serious injuries.
• Adjust the desired inclination angle via the mounting bracket and tighten the bracket screws.
• Make sure there is no flammable material within a 50cm radius of the device.
• Have a qualified electrician carry out the electrical connection.
• Connect the device to the mains with the power plug. Don’t connect it to a dimming pack.
• The installation has to be approved by an expert before the device is taken into service.
c) Connecting devices [B]
• Two devices can be connected physically using the included mounting plates and screws (refer to
figure [B]).
• Locate the mounting holes on the housing and attach the plates. Make sure to tighten the screws
firmly.
Note: for safety reasons, do not connect more than 4 devices this way.
d) Change lens
To replace or change the lens with one with a different angle, first
remove the front panel by turning the two quarter turn fasteners
[X] ¼ turn counter clockwise to release them. Lift the front panel.
• Remove the lens holder by releasing the centre screw [Y] with
a flat screwdriver.
• Mount a new lens holder and fix the centre screw [Y].
• Make sure the fasteners are in the correct position and place
the front panel back.
• The fasteners are spring loaded. Secure the fasteners by
pushing them down and turning them ¼ turn clockwise.
• NEVER operate the device without lens holder and/or front
panel securely in place.
e) DMX-512 connections
Connect an XLR cable to the female 3-pin XLR output of the controller and
the other side to the male 3-pin XLR input of the VDPLW1203RGB.
Multiple VDPLW1203RGBs can be linked through serial linking. The
linking cable should be a dual core, screened cable
with XLR input and output connectors.
Note: when linking the power supplies of the devices
a maximum of 8 devices can be placed in series on
the same power line.
DMX-512 Chain with termination
A DMX terminator is recommended for installations
where the DMX cable has to run a long distance or is
in an electrically noisy environment (e.g. discos). The terminator prevents
corruption of the digital control signal by electrical noise. The DMX
terminator is simply an XLR plug with a 120Ω
resistor between pins 2 and
3, which is then plugged into the XLR output socket of the last device in the
chain.
Projector DMX start address selection
All DMX-controlled devices need a digital start address so that the correct device responds to the
signals. This digital start address is the channel number from which the device starts to “listen” to
the DMX controller. Enter the correct number and read it from the display located on the backside of
the VDPLW1203RGB. The same starting address can be used for a whole group of devices or an
individual address can be set for every device.
When all devices have the same address, all the units will “listen” to the control signal on one
particular channel. In other words: changing the settings of one channel will affect all devices
simultaneously. If you set individual addresses, each device will “listen” to a separate channel
number. Changing the settings of one channel will only affect the device in question.
In case of the 6-channel VDPLW1203RGB, you will have to set the start address of the first unit to
1, the second unit to 7 (1 + 6), the third to 13 (7 + 6), and so on.
