1. You need to know:
• thickness and type of wall fi nish around
the appliance
• what optional accessories are being used
2. Carefully unpack the appliance and the
loose items that come with it as well as the
backing plate and trim and recycle the pack-
aging. Keep barrier screens protected.
3. Remove the front/rear windows and set
aside in a safe place to avoid damage.
4. Take out of the fi rebox any loose items
which have been packed inside for trans-
portation.
5. Check that you have all the components in
hand for the installation. This includes:
• liner panel (in separate carton)
• fuel bed (in separate cartons)
• remote battery and wall switch kit (in
separate carton)
• HeatShift duct kit and accessories (in
separate cartons)
• gas conversion kit (if required)
• venting components and accessories
• electrical components for optional acces-
sories
6. Look up dimensions, clearances, and vent-
ing, HeatShift information in the installation
manuals supplied with the appliance and
accessories to ensure that the installation
space is of appropriate dimensions.
7. Rough in the electrical wiring, wall switch kit
connections, and gas supply to the fi re-
place.
8. Install Steel Framing Kit, HeatShift Canopy
Kit, OR manually frame according to Fram-
ing section of Installer’s Manual.
9. Install the appliance in the space.

10. Install and connect the venting system.
11. Connect the gas line to the appliance and
test for gas leaks.
12. If the appliance needs gas conversion,
convert the appliance now with the optional
kit listed in the appliance manual. You may
need to remove the burner to proceed.
13. Install the liner panel in the fi rebox.
14. Install the fuel bed in the fi rebox.
15. Refi t the windows. Check spring-loaded
window return and good seal against sili-
cone gaskets.
16. Reinstall the Hot Glass Warning plate on the
window if it has been removed.
17. Install wall switch kit including remote bat-
tery holder (required).
18. Put batteries in the remote control battery
holder and handset.
19. Perform the initial set-up to match the re-
mote control receiver and handset.
20. Check lighting and adjust the aeration set-
tings if necessary.
21. Install the remote control handset wall
holder as required.
22. Install the barrier screens.
23. INSTRUCT THE CONSUMER ON HOW TO
OPERATE AND MAINTAIN THE FIREPLACE.
• show where the controls AND BATTERIES
are (gas valve, receiver, battery holder, ac-
cessories) and how to access them
• show how to operate the remote control,
accessories
• show how to turn the fi replace off in case
of emergency
Leave all instruction manuals and documents,
including this one, with the consumer.
