DESCRIPTION

This

unit

is

a

semiautomatic,

constant

speed,

digital

wire

feeder

with

a

programmable,

microprocessor-based

control

and

a

permanent

magnet

wire

feed

motor.

The

wire

feeder

is

capable

of

storing

in

memory

and

exe

cuting

eight

complete

and

different

wire

feed

welding

programs.

Each

program

consist

of

PREFLOW,

RUN

IN,

WELD,

CRATER,

BURNBACK,

and

POSTFLOW.

Any

sequence

in

a

program

can

be

timed.

The

wire

feeder

is

also

capable

of

dual

scheduling

(two

weld

se

quences

in

one

program)

of

the

weld

parameters

for

Gas

Metal

Arc

Weiding

(GMAW).

The

preset

welding

voltage

and

wire

speed

parameters

are

maintained

regardless

of

arc

or

load

variations

arid

–10%

line

variation.

The

S-52M

models

use

two-drive

service

life

and

efficiency

of this

unit

and

associated

components

are

reduced

when

they

are

subjected

to

high

levels

of

dust,

dirt,

moisture,

corrosive

vapors,

and

extreme

heat.

A

proper

installation

site

should

be

selected

forthe

wire

feeder

if

the

unit

is

to

provide

dependable

service.

Lead

lengths

must

be

considered

when

installing

the

unit.

A

slot

is

provided

in

the

base

of

the

unit

to

fit

overthe

lifting

eye

on

welding

power

sources

so

equipped.

Suitable

space

should

be

maintained

around

the

unit

for

making

necessary

connections

and

for

maintenance

functions.

remain

screws

and

tighten.

IMPORTANT:

Both

one-piece

and

split

drive

rolls

are

of

the

double

usage

type.

When

the

grooves

become

worn,

reverse

the

one-piece

rolls

or

reverse

the

split

roll

halves

to

locate

the

unused

grooves

in

position

to

feed

the

wire.

The

alignmentof

factory

set.

connections

erratic

weld

on

grounded

wire

feeder

parts

can

cause

equipment

damage.



Do

not

allow

welding

cable

to

touch

grounded

feeder

parts.

If

the

welding

cable

lug

or

exposed

welding

cable

is

in

contact

with

any

grounded

feeder

compo

nents

during

operation,

the

interconnecting

cord

and

plugs

may

be

damaged.

Connect

the

weld

cable

from

the

gun,

if

applicable,to

the

weld

cable

terminal

on

the

drive

assembly.

(Use

front

weld

cable

terminal

on

four

drive

roil

models.)

EXCESSIVELY

HIGH

WELDING

wire

vaporize.

Be

sure

the

voltage

sensing

leads

are

con

nected

properly.

To

make

voltage

sensing

connections,

proceed

as

fol

lows:

1.

Connect

the

plug

on

the

voltage

sensing

cord

to

the

VOLT

SENSE

receptacle

on

the

wire

feeder

(see

Figure

4-5).

Align

keyway,

insert

plug,

and

rotate

threaded

collar

fully

clockwise.

2.

Connectthe

voltage

sensing

lead

with

the

ring

termi

nal

attached

to

the

weld

cable

terminal

on

the

wire

drive

housing

as

shown

on

Figure

4-4.
