Add Engine Oil and Fuel
NOTICE Be sure you have attached wheels and support leg prior to this
step.
NOTICE You MUST properly fill engine with oil before attempting to start
generator.
NOTICE DO NOT use unapproved fuel such as E85.
NOTICE DO NOT mix oil in fuel.
NOTICE DO NOT modify engine to run on alternate fuels.
Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface. 1.
Clean area around oil fill and remove yellow oil fill cap (G). 2.
5
Using oil funnel (optional), slowly pour contents of both provided oil 3.
bottles (e & f) into oil fill opening to the “Full” mark on dipstick (H).
5
Replace oil fill cap and fully tighten.4.
Clean area around fuel fill cap (J), remove cap. 5.
6
Slowly add unleaded fuel (K) to fuel tank (L). Be careful not to fill 6.
above the baffle (M). This allows adequate space for fuel expansion
as shown.
7
Replace fuel cap, and let any spilled fuel evaporate before starting 7.
engine.
Move Generator to
Safe Operating Location
Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface, in an area that will 1.
not accumulate deadly exhaust gas. DO NOT place generator where
exhaust gas could accumulate and enter inside or be drawn into a
potentially occupied building. Ensure exhaust gas is kept away from
any windows, doors, ventilation intakes, or other openings that can
allow exhaust gas to collect in a confined area. Prevailing winds and
air currents should be taken into consideration when positioning
generator.
8
To reduce the risk of exhaust heat or exhaust gases igniting nearby 2.
combustible material, keep at least 5 feet (1.5 m) clearance on all
sides of generator, including overhead.
Start Generator
NOTICE Always unplug the battery float charger (n) before starting the
generator.
Make sure unit is on a level surface. Disconnect all electrical loads 1.
from the generator.
Turn the fuel valve (N) to the “On” position. 2.
9
Make sure idle control (P) switch is in “Off” position. 3.
14
Set run/stop switch to “Run” position. 4.
10
Pull choke control out to close choke. 5.
11
Start generator using Electric or Manual starting.6.
Electric Start:
Press and hold “Start” switch for a maximum of 15 seconds. If
engine does not start, pause for 1 minute and repeat.
12
Manual Start:
Pull starter rope handle (R) slowly until resistance is felt. Then pull
cord rapidly to overcome compression, prevent kickback, and start
engine.
13
Open the choke gradually as the engine warms up by pushing in on 7.
the choke handle.
11
If desired, turn idle control switch (P) to “On”. 8.
14
If engine does not start, refer to operator’s manual for detailed 9.
starting instructions.
Plug in Items to be Powered
Let engine stabilize and warm up for a few minutes after starting.1.
Ensure the circuit breakers (T) on the control panel are in the “On” 2.
position.
14
Plug in and turn on the desired 120 Volt (U) and/or 240 Volt (V) AC, 3.
single phase, 60 Hz electrical loads.
14
Use supplied plugs (a, b, or c) to adapt extension cords or tools to 4.
proper generator receptiacles (W).
14
Push-to reset circuit breakers (X) are provided to protect the 120 5.
Volt receptacles and generator against electrical overload.
14
The 12 Volt DC, 10 Amp receptacle (Y) allows you to recharge a 6.
12 Volt automotive or utility style storage battery with the battery
charge cables (d) provided.
14
Shut Down Generator
Turn OFF and unplug all electrical loads from generator panel 1.
receptacles. NEVER start or stop engine with electrical devices
plugged in and turned “On”.
Turn idle control (P) to “Off”. 2.
14
Let engine run at no-load for several minutes to stabilize internal 3.
temperatures of engine and generator.
Push run/stop switch to “Stop” position. 4.
10
Move fuel valve (N) to “Off” position. 5.
9
To prepare for storage, refer to Operator’s Manual.6.
Unpack Generator
Set the carton on a rigid, flat surface.1.
Remove everything from carton except generator.2.
Open carton completely by cutting each corner from top to bottom. 3.
Ensure you have all included items prior to assembly. 4.
If items are damaged or missing, call 1-800-743-4115.
Leave generator on carton to install the wheels.5.
Attach Wheels and Support Legs
NOTICE Wheels and support leg must be attached prior to adding any
fuel and oil.
Tip generator so that engine end is down. 1.
Slide axle (h) through both mounting brackets. 2.
1
Slide a wheel (p) over axle. 3.
1
NOTICE Be sure to install both wheels with the air inflation valve on the
outboard side.
Place a washer (m) on axle and then place an e-ring (k) in axle 4.
groove.
1
Install e-ring with pliers, squeezing from top of e-ring to bottom of 5.
axle.
Repeat steps 3 through 5 to secure second wheel.6.
Tip generator so that engine side is up. 7.
Using a 8. 9/16” (14 mm) socket wrench or 9/16” (14 mm) wrench,
remove one existing hex nut (A) and lock washer (B) from engine
vibration mounts.
2
Slide support leg (g) onto engine vibration mount stud and attach 9.
with the lock washer and hex nut. DO NOT fully tighten.
2
Repeat steps 8 and 9 for second existing hex nut and lock washer on 10.
engine vibration mounts.
Using a 11. 9/16” (14 mm) socket wrench or 9/16” (14 mm) wrench,
tighten both hex nuts and lock washers.
Repeat steps 8 through 11 for second support leg on other side.12.
Return generator to normal operating position (resting on wheels 13.
and support leg).
Check each fastener to ensure it is secure and the tires are inflated 14.
between 15-40 PSI.
Connect Battery
Cut off tie wrap securing loose end of negative (black) cable.1.
Using an 8mm wrench, remove bolt (C), lock washer (D) and flat 2.
washer (E) from negative battery terminal (F).
3
Slide lock washer (D), flat washer (E) and negative battery cable (F) 3.
over bolt (C).
Reattach bolt to negative battery terminal and tighten.4.
Verify that connections to battery and generator are tight and secure.5.

explosive. Turn off engine and wait at least
2 minutes before refueling. Let spilled fuel
evaporate before starting engine. Always
allow space for fuel expansion.
WARNING Contact with Muffler area can result in
serious burns. DO NOT touch hot parts and
AVOID hot exhaust gases.
WARNING Generator produces hazardous voltage
and current. Contact with live parts can cause
electric shock or burn. DO NOT operate
