INSTALLATION
STEP 1: Determine the placement of the amplifier. Consider the following:
The need to place the amplifier in a rack or on a shelf.
The number of subwoofers being connected to the amplifier.
The minimum amount of space required around the amplifier to allow for adequate cooling and ventilation.
The need to access the adjustment controls to fine-tune your amplifier.
STEP 2: Confirm the voltage setting for your application. The indented end of the voltage selector switch should be under the screw above the appropriately
labeled voltage level. If you need to change the voltage setting:
a. Loosen the screws securing the voltage selector switch cover.
b. Slide the cover up and move the switch so that the indented end of the switch is under the screw above the correct voltage level label.
c. Slide the cover down and re-tighten the screws.
STEP 3: Connect the receiver to the amplifier using option a, option b, option c, or option d (depending on your receiver):
NOTE: Use the highest quality cables and connectors possible for low impedance.
Use of a minimum of 16-gauge, stranded speaker cable is recommended.
IMPORTANT: Before proceeding with these instructions, make sure the power is off to the amplifier.
Do NOT connect the power cord until all connections are complete.
a. Use a line-level RCA cable connection (applicable to all models) See Fig. 4
Run the cable from the right channel of the RCA output port on the receiver to the right channel,
low-level input port on the amplifier.
Run the cable from the left channel of the RCA output port on the receiver to the left channel
input port on the amplifier.
~or~
b. Use the LFE connection (applicable to all models) See Fig. 5:
Run the cable from the SUB RCA output port on the receiver to the LFE input port on the amplifier.
~or~
c. Use a high-level in connection (for NV-SUBAMP100-xx models) See Fig. 6:
1. Strip approximately 1/4 n. (6.4 mm) of insulation from the inner conductor wire.
2. Terminate the speaker wire into the modular plug.
3. Insert the plug into the appropriate zone output on the back panel.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to let the exposed speaker wires touch. This will short the connection and could damage
theamplifier
~or~
d. Use a 12 V trigger connection (for NV-SUBAMP200-xx and NV-SUBAMP500 models) See Fig. 7:
Run the 12 V trigger connection from the output of the device to the 12 V trigger input of
the amplifier.
If using a 12 V power supply plugged into an outlet on the receiver, connect the wires to
the trigger terminals.
When using a Nuvo wireless subwoofer connection kit,
you can modify the USB power cable for the receiver by
following the cable pin out chart.

STEP 4: Connect the subwoofer(s) to the amplifier using either option a or option b:
a. Use the SUB terminal connections (for NV-SUBAMP200-xx and NV-SUBAMP500 models) See Figure 8:
1. Strip 1/4 in. (6.4 mm) of the cable jacket on each end of two cables.
2. Loosen the RED SUB 1 screw terminal on the amplifier.
3. Insert one end of a cable securely around the screw terminal.
4. Retighten the RED SUB 1 screw terminal.
5. Repeat steps 2–4 for the BLACK SUB screw terminal.
6. For dual subwoofer connection, repeat steps 1–5, for the SUB 2 side of the SUB screw terminals.
NOTE: Expanding beyond the connection of one subwoofer will affect impedance. Make sure that the total impedance of SUB 1 & SUB 2 is a minimum of 4 Ω.
~or~
b. Use a high-level in connection (for NV-SUBAMP100-xx models) See Figure 9:
1. Strip approximately 1/4 n. (6.4 mm) of insulation from the inner conductor wire.
2. Terminate the speaker wire into the modular plug
3. Insert the plug into the appropriate zone output on the back panel.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to let the exposed speaker wires touch. This will short the connection and could damage the amplifier
STEP 5: Plug the power cable into the power cord inlet on the back of the amplifier.
6
ADJUSTING THE AMPLIFIER CONTROLS
STEP 1: Plug your amplifier into a functional outlet and turn the power switch to ON. If applicable to your model, a status light will illuminate when the
amplifier is powered or a signal is detected, depending on the various settings selected.
STEP 2: Set the power mode for the amplifier:
ON: Places the amplifier in a continuous ON status. Power can be turned on/off using the power button on the front of the amplifier. Use this mode
for initial setup.
TRIGGER: Turns the amplifier ON automatically upon receiving a 12 V signal. When the amplifier no longer receives a signal, it automatically turns
OFF.
AUTO: Places the amplifier in an AUTO sensing status. When set to AUTO, the amplifier turns on automatically upon receiving an input signal.
When the amplifier no longer receives a signal, it automatically moves into a standby state after 15 minutes. Use this mode after the
adjustments are complete.
NOTE: The NV-SUBAMP100 is always in auto-detect mode.
STEP 3: Turn the EQ Mode to ON, then select an EQ preset, if desired.
EQA: NV-SUBIC8
EQB: NV-SUBIW8)
EQC: NV-SUBIWDUAL8)
STEP 4: Place your adjustment controls into a neutral position.
VOLUME: Set to 50% of full sound.
PHASE: Set to 0°.
CROSSOVER: If using the LFE input, set the control to LFE. If using line-level RCA cable connections, reference your subwoofer specifications and
set the amplifier to the low-end frequency limit of the subwoofer. A 60 Hz–80 Hz range is the typical setting for most applications.
STEP 5: Turn on your sound system and play your favorite movie or music track.
STEP 6: Adjust your controls as necessary to get the desired bass level.
VOLUME: Increase or decrease the volume as desired.
PHASE: Adjust the amount of bass heard from your subwoofer. When the bass is pleasing to you in your normal listening position, you have the
phase set correctly.
CROSSOVER: When using LFE, you should not need to adjust the crossover knob after setting it to the low-level frequency limit of the subwoofer
used in your system. If the subwoofer is easy to locate by sound alone, lower the crossover frequency until the sound blends with the
system.

two conditions:
1. This device may not cause harmful interference.
2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may
cause undesired operation. See instructions if interference to radio or television
reception is suspected.
Radio and Television Interference
This audio equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio-frequency energy. If it is not
installed and used properly–that is, in strict accordance with Nuvo's instructions–it may
cause interference with radio and television reception.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital
device in accordance with the specification in Part 15 of FCC rules. These specifications
are designed to provide reasonable protection against such interference in a residential
installation. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular
installation.
You can determine whether your audio system is causing interference by turning it off. If
the interference stops, it was probably caused by the computer or one of the peripheral
devices. If your audio system does cause interference to radio or television reception, try
to correct the interference by using one or more of the following measures:
Tum the television or radio antenna until the interference stops.
Move the audio device to one side or the other of the television or radio.
Move the audio device farther away from the television or radio.
Plug the audio device into an outlet that is on a different circuit from the television
or radio. (That is, make certain the audio device and the television or radio are on
circuits controlled by different circuit breakers or fuses.)
If necessary, consult Nuvo Technical Support, refer to the service and support information
available for your Nuvo product, or consult an experienced radio/television technician for
additional suggestions.
