1 Preface

Read this manual carefully before installaon, use and service of this product.

Replace the manual immediately if lost. Nederman reserves the right, without

previous noce, to modify and improve its products including documentaon.

This product is designed to meet the requirements of relevant EC direcves. To

maintain this status, all installaon, maintenance and repair is to be done by

qualied personnel using only Nederman original spare parts and accessories.

Contact the nearest authorized distributor or Nederman for advice on

technical service and obtaining spare parts. If there are any damaged or

missing parts when the product is delivered, nofy the carrier and the local

Nederman representave immediately.

2 Safety

This document contains important informaon that is presented either as a

warning, cauon or note:

3 Descripon

3.1 Intended use

NEX S Extracon Arm is designed to extract dust or gas mixtures in

environments where the atmosphere could be explosive as a result of mixing

air with gas, vapour, mist or dust.

3.1.1 ATEX products

NEX S is not marked with the EX symbol since it does not fall under the scope

of the direcve 2014/34/EU. Even if NEX S does not have the EX marking, it is

highly suitable for use in zones listed in ‘Table 3-1: Technical data’ according to

ATEX-work direcve 1999/92/EC.

The NEX S-arm must not be used for extracng dust/air-mixtures with:

* MIE < 1 mJ (* MIE = Minimum Ignion Energy)

WARNING! Risk of explosion.

The NEX S-arm must not be used for extracng gas/air-mixtures in explosion

group IIC.

Do not use NEX S to extract dust or gas mixtures that could aect the materials

in the extractor arm. See gure 3.

4 Installaon

4.1 Delivery check

If there are any damaged or missing parts when the product is delivered,

nofy the carrier and the local Nederman representave immediately.

4.2 Mounng NEX S

See Figures 4–8. The extractor arm can be mounted on a wall. Ensure that the

wall surface is level, and use the wall bracket to mark the holes.

Use locking xing bolts and nuts suitable for the wall material. The

bolts must each stand a minimum torque force of: 1100 N (NEX S 2 m),

2400 N (NEX S 3 m), 4000 N (NEX S 4 m).

Use a spirit level and make sure that the extracon arm is ed in a horizontal

posion.

NOTE! Make sure the NEX S housing is properly grounded. See gure 8 and

secon 4.3 Earth control measurement.

NOTE! Fill out the installaon protocol when nished installing the NEX S.

4.3 Earth control measurement

Check for proper earth connecon, aer both main installaon and regular

maintenance. This is done by measuring as illustrated in Figure 8 item 10.

5 Operaon

WARNING! Ignion risk for some dust or solvents.

• Do not collect material that is causc, explosive, highly ammable,

chemically unstable, spontaneously ignitable, or which can release sparks.

• Check that no objects which can cause sparking or re are sucked in to the

arm, or impact against the hood.

• Avoid mixing dust from dierent processes, for example service works and

plasc grinding mixed with metal grinding.

CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage.

Avoid impact against the hood.

See Figure 9. The extractor arm can easily be posioned at any point within

its working area. It can be rotated 180° when wall mounted and 360° when

ceiling mounted. For best capture the hood should be posioned as near the

fume or dust generang process as possible.

Recommended air ow (Also, check local direcons):

• Maximum 1100 m3/h (650 cfm) for hose Ø 125 mm.

• Maximum 1700 m3/h (1000 cfm) for hose Ø 160 mm.

Always check that the airow is sucient in the hood before work begins.

Insucient airow is caused by:

• The fan impeller rotang in the wrong direcon.

• Hood or hose are blocked.

• Filter cartridges are blocked.

6 Maintenance

WARNING! Risk of personal injury.

• Squeeze risk. See gure 5.

• Check the funcon of the spring and spring holder. See gure 6.

6.1 Roune inspecon and service

Follow the list in ‘Appendix B: Maintenance checklist’ to rounely inspect, and

repair or replace worn and damaged parts on the inside and outside of the

product.

6.2 Cleaning

WARNING! Risk of personal injury.

A dust lter mask and other necessary safety equipment should be used when

cleaning the NEX S.

6.2.1 Dry cleaning

Vacuum and wipe the components externally and even internally if necessary.

6.2.2 Wet cleaning

Use a detergent soluon that will not damage NEX S, see secon 3.1.1 ATEX

products. Follow advice from the manufacturer of the detergent soluon

regarding dosage and washing method. Rinse with clean water. Use low

pressure and a water temperature of 40–50 °C.

Avoid directly rinsing sleeves, joints and so on. Let the NEX-arm dry before it is

used again.

6.2.3 Regular maintenance

Regular maintenance is recommended at least once a year.

1. Check that the NEX-arm is grounded.

2. Check that the hose is intact. If necessary change the hose.

3. Check the mounng of the arm on wall.

4. Adjust the links if necessary.

5. Check that the sucon capacity in the hood is sucient.

6.2.4 Internal cleaning of hood and hose

1. Detach hood and hose.

2. Carry out dry or wet cleaning according to instrucons above.

3. Let the components dry.

4. Re-t the components.

5. Ground the hose spiral. See gure 6. Take a control meter reading. See

gure 8.

6.3 Spare parts

CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage.

Use only Nederman original spare parts and accessories.

Contact your nearest authorized distributor or Nederman for advice

on technical service or if you require help with spare parts. See also

www.nederman.com.

Ordering spare parts

When ordering spare parts always state the following:

• Part number and control number (see the product idencaon plate).

• Detail number and name of the spare part (see www.nederman.com).

• Quanty of the parts required.

6.4 Recycling

The product has been designed for component materials to be recycled.

Its dierent material types must be handled according to relevant local

regulaons. Contact the distributor or Nederman if uncertaines arise when

scrapping the product at the end of its service life.

3 Beskrivelse

3.1 Tiltænkt anvendelse

Udsugningsarmen NEX S er designet l udsugning af støv- eller gasblandinger

i miljøer, hvor atmosfæren kan være eksplosionsfarlig, fordi lu blandes med

gas, dampe, tåger eller støv.

3.1.1 ATEX-produkter

NEX S er ikke mærket med EX-symbolet, fordi den ikke hører under direkv

2014/34/EU. Selvom NEX S ikke er EX-mærket, er den velegnet l brug i zoner,

som er anført i ”Tabel 3-1: Tekniske data” i henhold l ATEX-direkv 1999/92/EF.
