Before First Use...

Intended Use

The Ritter 253 provides focusable illumination for general examinations and procedures performed by

trained professionals in a healthcare environment.

Electromagnetic Interference

This product is designed and built to minimize electromagnetic interference with other devices. However, if

interference is noticed between another device and this product:

 • Removeinterferingdevicefromroom

 • Pluglightintoisolatedcircuit

 • Increaseseparationbetweenlightandinterferingdevice

 • ContactMidmarkifinterferencepersists

Disposal of Equipment

At the end of product life, the light, accessories, and other consumable goods may become contaminated

from normal use. Consult local codes and ordinances for proper disposal of equipment, accessories and

other consumable goods.

Power ON / OFF

Note

The light has an automatic shutoff feature that turns the light

OFF after two hours. Refer to Automatic Shutoff Feature

section for more information.

To connect power to the light...

A) Connect power cord to light housing.

B) Plug cord into properly rated receptacle.

Note: When power is connected, the lighthead will flash

several times, and the indicator light will illuminate.

To turn the light ON / OFF...

Press the power button.

Automatic Shutoff Feature

The Automatic Shutoff Feature turns the light OFF two hours after the last power button press.

To enable the Automatic Shutoff Feature...

A) Press & hold the power button for 5 seconds.

B) Observe. The lighthead will flash three times

indicating the feature has been enabled.

Note: To disable this feature, repeat the procedure.

The lighthead will flash four times when this feature

is disabled

Lights are shipped from the factory with this feature disabled.

Rotate the lighthead clockwise / counterclockwise.

A) Disconnect power cord from light housing.

B) Press tab & pull fuse holder out of cord inlet.

C) Replace fuses.

D) Push fuse holder into inlet until it locks in place.

Cleaning

Clean the painted metal and plastic surfaces using a clean soft cloth, and mild cleaner.

Disinfect your product with a solution of standard bleach and water mixed 1 in 10 (10%) or chlorine based

cleaners. Follow this with a clear water rinse and thorough drying of material. See current CDC Guideline for

Disinfection & Sterilization in Healthcare Facilities.

Preventative Maintenance

Periodically inspect the following:

 •Powercordshouldbefreeofcutsorothervisibledamage.

 •Allfastenersshouldbeinplaceandtightenedsecurely.

Have an authorized service technician inspect your equipment periodically.

Note

Model / serial number information is required when calling for service.

replacecomponentsofthedomesticandinternationalmedicalproductsmanufacturedbyMidmark(exceptforcomponentsnotwarranted

under“Exclusions”)thataredefectiveinmaterialorworkmanshipundernormaluseandservice.Thesoleremedyunderthislimitedwarran-

tyistherepairorreplacement,atMidmark’soption,oftheapplicablecomponents.Thislimitedwarrantyshallonlyapplytodefectsthatare

reportedtoMidmarkwithintheapplicablewarrantyperiodandwhicharedeterminedtoexistuponexaminationbyMidmark,.Thiswarranty

extends only to the original retail purchaser of a product and is not transferable or assignable. Replacement components or products may

beusedand/orrefurbishedcomponentsorproducts,providedtheyareoflikequalityandspecicationsasnewcomponentsorproducts.

Midmarkwarrantstotheoriginalretailpurchaserthatduringtheapplicablewarrantyperioditwillrepairorreplacesoftwarecontained

withintheproductsmanufacturedbyMidmark(exceptforthosenotwarrantedunder“Exclusions”)if:(1)themediaonwhichthesoftwareis

furnishedexhibitsdefectsinmaterialorworkmanshipundernormaluse;or(2)thesoftwaredoesnotsubstantiallyconformtoitspublished

specications.

APPLICABLEWARRANTYPERIODTheapplicablewarrantyperiod,measuredfromthedateofinvoicetotheoriginalretailpurchaserof

the product and shall be one (1) year for all warranted products and components.

(8)Matchingofcolor,grainortextureexcepttocommerciallyacceptablestandards;
