xvi Safety Precautions
Caring for the Leaf Aptus Digital Camera Back
Figure 1: Protective IR filter glass on the underside of the Leaf Aptus digital
camera back
Do not expose the Leaf Aptus digital camera back to extreme temperature
conditions, below 0°C/ 32°F or above 40°C/104°F.
Do not expose the Leaf Aptus digital camera back to extreme humidity.
Operate the Leaf Apus only when the relative humidity is between 15% to
85%.
WARNING: Never open or disassemble any of the Leaf Aptus digital camera
back parts, in particular the protective infrared (IR) filter glass.
Note: For information about cleaning the protective IR filter glass, see
Chapter 12, “Caring for the IR Filter Glass”.
Battery Label Caution Statement xvii
Battery Label Caution Statement
The battery label caution statement is located on each battery.
Use the battery with the Leaf Aptus digital camera back only. The battery
should not be used with other devices.
Charger Safety Information
Do not use this charger for charging battery packs other than a lithium
ion battery pack for an Aptus digital camera back. A fire or explosion
may result.
Never disassemble or modify the charger in any way.
Keep the charger free from moisture and water.
Do not drop your charger, or give it a strong shock or vibration.
Never apply excessive force when connecting or disconnecting the
battery.
Avoid direct sunlight or high temperatures (e.g. inside a car with
closed windows.) This may cause deformation, discoloration and
malfunction.
Do not expose to excessive heat or naked flame.
Lithium battery packs are small yet have a large power capacity.
However, if exposed to extreme cold (below 10°C/50°F), the effective
operational time decreases significantly. Exposure to temperatures
WARNING: Battery can explode, leak, or catch on fire if exposed to high
temperatures or fire, if opened, or if disassembled.
WARNING: Battery may explode or release toxic chemicals if disposed in fire.
Use specified power supply and battery only. To prevent injury or burns, do not
allow metal objects to contact the charger terminals. There are no user-
serviceable parts. Do not disassemble.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove cover (or back).
No user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
xviii Safety Precautions
below 0°C/32°F will render the battery inoperative. If you are planning
to shoot in an environment at these temperatures, carry the battery
pack in a pocket to keep it warm, then attach it just prior to shooting.
Carry the battery pack in a plastic bag when transporting it.
If the surrounding temperature is low during recharging, recharging
may take longer, or may not work at all. It is recommended that you
recharge the battery pack at room temperature (10°C to 30°C).
Do not short circuit; may cause burns.
Keep the charger out of reach of children.
Once charging is complete, unplug the charger from power source.
Only use original mains adaptor 12V DC or car lead to power the
charger.
Keep all contacts clean.
Do not force any of the contacts.
Never store the battery connected to the charger for an extensive
period of time.

document.
longtemps.
