Introduction
Please ensure you read the relevant safety instructions as detailed below:
I. General information and safety
II. Installation
III. Operation
The instructions are for anyone who shall install, use and maintain the lifting device.
Before operating the lifting device for the first time, the operator must read the enclosed
instructions carefully.
Binar Handling AB cannot be held accountable or liable for any inaccurate or incomplete
information in this document and reserves the right to introduce changes without prior
notice.
Warranty
Binar Handling AB provides a 12-month warranty on NEO 30, on units operating at a
maximum of two working shifts.
The warranty on new spare parts is for 12 months.
The warranty does not apply to the rope.
The warranty is void if the equipment is damaged in conjunction with opening of the
covers or careless handling.
Binar Handling AB determines all warranty matters.
Area of use
NEO 30 is intended for vertical lifting and lowering of loads. Other use could lead to acci-
dents or injury.
Safety instructions
Personnel that operate the lifting device must read and follow the enclosed instructions.
General
In order to use the lifting device, the following general safety instructions apply:
The lifting device must not be used to lift people.
Do not walk under suspended loads, nor place any part of the body below a sus-
pended load or in an area where the suspended load can tip over.
Protective footwear must be worn.
4General information and safety
ENGLISH
The lifting device must not be used for lifting where a falling load could damage/de-
stroy pipes or wiring that could cause the discharge of flammable, toxic, hot, corrosive
gases, molten or liquids.
The lifting device must not be used to lift objects, including the end effector, that
weigh more than the lifting device’s maximum capacity, see “Technical data” Part I.
The lifting device must not be installed where there is a risk that the rope can touch
sharp edges or hot objects.
IMPORTANT
There must be a minimum of two turns of the rope on the rope drum when the lift-
ing device is operated to its lowest point.
The lifting device must not be operated higher than 1,4 meters above the lowest
point. This is to make sure that there are maximum of two layers of rope on the rope
drum.
Only a rope distributed from Binar Handling AB must be used. Any use of other ropes
may cause danger and the CE marking and the Declaration of conformity becomes in-
valid. A correct rope from Binar Handling AB is black with three red strands and one
multi-coloured strand.
Only the original batteries must be used. Any use of other batteries may cause danger
and the CE marking and the Declaration of conformity becomes invalid.
Only the original battery charger must be used. Any use of other battery charger may
cause danger and the CE marking and the Declaration of conformity becomes invalid.
The lifting device must not be exposed to knocking/bumping.
The rope must not be wrapped around any body part.
The lifting device may only be used for vertical lifting, horizontal movement is per-
formed after lifting. It is not permitted to pull or drag objects horizontally using the
lifting device.
The lifting device must not be used to lift objects that are secured.
Avoid knocking/bumping a raised object.
Never leave the lifting device unattended with a suspended load.
The end effector or control handle must not be raised by hand; this is to ensure that
the rope does not become slack which can result in the rope becoming tangled.
Maintenance must be performed at the recommended intervals, see Maintenance Ac-
tions in Part III.
The lifting device is intended for indoor use.
The area that the lifting device serves must have adequate lighting.
The area that lifting device serves must be free of objects on the floor that give rise
to a risk of tripping.
The lifting device must not be released so that it swings into another object.
General information and safety 5
ENGLISH
The lifting device contains many safety critical and ESD sensitive components and for
this reason anyone performing maintenance must possess the requisite knowledge.
Safety functions – lifting device
Anti-drop brake – The lifting device has integrated an anti-drop brake. In the event of
a low battery voltage the load will not fall but is held safely in place. All functionality
returns once the battery is charged or replaced.
The lifting device stops as soon as the operator releases the manoeuvre handle.
The lifting device has an overheating protection for the motor.
Every battery has an overheating protection.
Installation
If the installation takes place at height, ensure appropriate precautions are taken. Work
platform is recommended.
Maintenance
If the maintenance takes place at height, ensure appropriate precautions are taken.
Work platform is recommended.
Replacement of rope
During replacement of the rope, the lifting device must be mounted down and the rope
replacement shall be done on a workbench, see the procedure in Part III.
The normal life limit for the rope is approximately 40,000 to 60,000 cycles. However, it is
always the condition of the rope that determines when it should be replaced.
General description
The manoeuvre handle detects the force from the hand and converts the signal to a lift-
ing speed.
When the grip on the manoeuvre handle is released, the lifting device stops its vertical
motion. The horizontal movement does not slow down.
Other functions
Tilt check, the lifting device stops the rope ejection when the lifting device tilts more
than approximately 45° to minimize the risk for rope tangle.
Overheating protection:
1. The lifting motor is warm, this is indicated with a red continuous light and one
beep. Reduce the frequency of the number of lifts and/or lower the ambient
temperature.
2. The lifting motor is overheated, this is this is indicated by a red flashing light and
two beeps. Let the lifting device rest, refer to troubleshooting.
6General information and safety
ENGLISH
Troubleshooting
If the actions in the table do not solve the problems, contact your dealer.
Problem Possible cause Action
The lifting device does not
start.
The lifting device is not
turned on.
Turn on the lifting device
on the on/off-button.
The battery is discharged. Charge the battery or re-
place it with a charged
battery.
The battery is in "Ship
mode". In "Ship mode" the
poles of the battery are dis-
connected to ensure long
storage time.
Charge the battery for a
minimum of five minutes.
The battery has poor
contact.
Remove the battery. Check
the contact plates. Remove
any dirt, clean the contact
plates and install the
battery.
The battery is overheated. Let the battery become cold
at least one hour at room
temperature.
The battery is too cold. Let the battery become
warm at least one hour at
room temperature.
The lifting motor is over-
heated, this is indicated by
a red flashing light and two
beeps.
Let the lifting device rest
for ten minutes, it must be
turned on so the internal
fan can work.
There is condensation in
the lifting device.
Let the lifting device be-
come warm at least six
hours at room temperature.
General information and safety 7
ENGLISH
Problem Possible cause Action
The lifting device is moving
upwards or downwards
without affecting the ma-
noeuvre handle.
The signal to the manoeu-
vre handle is not calibrated.
Make sure that the ma-
noeuvre handle has free
movement.
Turn off the lifting device.
Remove the battery
Install the battery.
Don't touch the manoeuvre
handle and push the on/off-
button and hold it around
15 seconds until the battery
lamp flashes green two
times and three beeps are
heard.
The signal to the manoeu-
vre handle is now
calibrated.
The lifting device starts but
cannot be operated.
The rope has tangled. Remove the battery and un-
tangle the rope or cut it off
and replace it with a new
rope. Review the condition
of the rope if it has tangled,
a damaged or worn rope
should be replaced.
Internal fault. Indicated by
a light switching quickly be-
tween red and yellow.
Remove the battery for ten
seconds and then put it
back in the lifting device.
Wait and push the green
button, if the fault remains,
the lifting device must be
repaired.
The lifting device can oper-
ate upwards but not
downwards.
The tilt check has detected
an angel too large and stop-
ped the rope ejection to
minimise the risk for rope
tangle.
Reduce the tilt on the lifting
devise to less than 45°
The slack rope check has
detected that the rope is to
slack and stopped the rope
ejection to minimize the
risk for rope tangle.
Operate the lifting device
slowly upwards until the
rope is tight.
