Proper Disposal of Your Old Refrigerator

Before You Throw Away Your Old Refrigerator or Freezer:

• Take off the doors.

• Leave the shelves in place so that children may not easily

climb inside.

IMPORTANT: Child entrapment and suffocation are not problems

of the past. Junked or abandoned refrigerators are still dangerous

- even if they will sit for "just a few days." Ifyou are getting rid of

your old refrigerator, please follow these instructions to help

prevent accidents.

For your convenience, your refrigerator controls are preset at the

factory. When you first install your refrigerator, make sure that the

controls are still preset to the mid-settings as shown.

IMPORTANT:

• The refrigerator control adjusts the refrigerator compartment

temperature. The freezer control adjusts the freezer

compartment temperature.

• The displays normally show the actual temperatures inside the

refrigerator and freezer compartments. Sometimes,

temperatures may vary slightly in different areas of each

compartment. For example, frequently opening the door

allows air from the room to enter the compartment, exposing

door bins to room-temperature air. When reading the display,

keep in mind that it shows an average temperature for the

entire compartment. If you want to view the temperature you

set for the compartment rather than the actual temperature,

see "Viewing Set Points."

• Wait 24 hours before you put food into the refrigerator. If you

add food before the refrigerator has cooled completely, your

food may spoil.

NOTE: Adjusting the refrigerator and freezer controls to a

lower (colder) setting will not cool the compartments any

faster.

Turning Refrigerator On

If the refrigerator is off, press COOLING ON/OFF to turn the

cooling on.

Toturn your refrigerator off, press COOLING ON/OFR Your

refrigerator will not cool when the control is set to Off.

NOTE: Pressing the Cooling On/Off button does not

disconnect power to the refrigerator. The interior lights will

turn off if either compartment door is open for more than

10 minutes. Simply close and open the door to turn on the

interior lights.

Viewing Set Points

The factory recommended set points are 0°F (-18°C) for the

freezer and 37°F (3°C) for the refrigerator.

Set point range for the freezer: -6 ° to 6°F (-21 °C to -14°C)

Set point range for the refrigerator: 32°to 46°F (0°C to 8°C)

Toview the set point temperatures, press either the up or down

button for the refrigerator or freezer temperature. The display will

become brighter to indicate that you are viewing the set points.

Five seconds after an adjustment is made, the display lights will

dim and return to the actual temperature.

NOTE: During automatic defrost cycles, the actual temperature

displayed may be higher than the set point. This is normal. The

actual temperatures should return to the set points within a few

hours following completion of the defrost cycle.

Adjusting Controls

The mid-settings indicated in the previous section should be

correct for normal household refrigerator usage. The controls are

set correctly when milk or juice is as cold as you like and when ice

cream is firm.

If the temperature is too warm or too cold in the refrigerator or

freezer, first check the air vents to be sure they are not blocked.

If you need to adjust temperatures, use the settings listed in the

chart below as a guide. Wait at least 24 hours between

adjustments.

Additional Control Panel Features

Temp Mode

• Press the °C button to select either Celsius or Fahrenheit

temperature displays.

Max Cool

Use Max Cool to speed cooling when large grocery loads are

added. Max Cool sets the refrigerator temperature to 34°F (1°C)

and the freezer temperature to -6°F (-21 °C) for 24 hours.

NOTE: While Max Cool is on, the display shows the Max Cool

temperature set points. After 24 hours or when Max Cool is

manually turned off, the set points will be returned to their

previous setting.

• Press MAX COOL to select this mode. Max Cool will stay on

for 24 hours or until it is manually turned off.

Max Coo_

The control can be adjusted to properly chill meats or vegetables.

The air inside the pan is cooled to avoid "spot" freezing and can

be set to keep meats at the National Livestock and Meat Board

recommended storage temperatures of 28° to 32°F (-2° to 0°C).

The convertible drawer temperature control is preset to the

PRODUCE setting.

To Store Meat:

Set the control to one of the three MEAT settings to store meat at

its optimal storage temperature.

To Store Vegetables:

Set the control to PRODUCE to store vegetables at their optimal

storage temperatures.

NOTE: If food starts to freeze, move the control to the left (less

cold). Remember to wait 24 hours between adjustments.

You can control the amount of humidity in the moisture-sealed

crisper. Adjust the control to any setting between LOW and HIGH.

LOW (open) for best storage of fruits and vegetables with skins.

I-II61-1(closed) for best storage of fresh, leafy vegetables.

The door air control is located on the left-hand side of the

refrigerator compartment.

• Slide the door air control to the left to reduce the flow of cold

air to the bin or can rack and make it less cold.

• Slide the door air control to the right to increase the flow of

cold air to the bin or can rack and make it colder.

Holiday Mode is designed for those whose religious observances

require turning off the lights and dispensers.

Tofully activate Holiday Mode, you must follow the instructions

below for both the control and dispenser panels.

IMPORTANT: If you do not activate Holiday Mode in both ways

listed below, some functions you wish to disable will remain

active.

Control Panel

In Holiday Mode, the temperature set points remain unchanged

and the interior lights turn off.

• Press HOLIDAY MODE to turn on Holiday Mode.

Holiday Mode

• Press HOLIDAY MODE again to turn Holiday Mode off.

Dispenser Panel

In Holiday Mode, the dispenser levers are disabled and the

dispenser lights turn off.

• Toturn on Holiday Mode, press and hold ICE, LIGHT and

LOCKOUT at the same time for 3 seconds. When the feature

turns on, the indicator light around the LOCKOUT button will

blink and "HOL" will appear on the dispenser display.

• Toturn Holiday Mode off, press and hold ICE, LIGHT and

LOCKOUT at the same time for 3 seconds again.

Depending on your model, your water and ice dispensers may

have one or more of the following features: a water level indicator

in the dispenser tray, a special light that turns on when you use

the dispenser, or a lock option to avoid unintentional dispensing.

NOTES:

• The dispensing system will not operate when the freezer door

is open.

• After connecting the refrigerator to a water source, flush the

water system. Use a sturdy container to depress and hold the

water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, then release it for

5 seconds. Repeat until water begins to flow. Once water

begins to flow, continue depressing and releasing the

dispenser lever (5 seconds on, 5 seconds off) for an additional

2 minutes. This will flush air from the filter and water

dispensing system. Additional flushing may be required in

some households. As air is cleared from the system, water

may spurt out of the dispenser.

• Allow 24 hours for the refrigerator to cool down and chill

water.

• Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice. Discard the

first three batches of ice produced.

The Water Dispenser

IMPORTANT: Dispense enough water every week to maintain a

fresh supply.

To Dispense Water:

1. Press a sturdy glass against the water dispenser pad.

NOTES:

• While dispensing water and for 3 seconds after dispensing

has stopped, the digital display will show how many

ounces of water have been dispensed.

• To switch from ounces to cups, press and hold ICE and

LOCKOUT at the same time until the dispenser beeps

after 3 seconds. To switch from cups to liters, press and

hold the buttons for another 3 seconds. To switch back to

ounces, repeat the process a third time.

2. Remove the glass to stop dispensing.

The Ice Dispenser

Ice dispenses from the ice maker storage bin in the freezer when

the dispenser pad is pressed. The dispensing system will not

operate when the freezer door is open. Toturn off the ice maker,

see "Ice Maker & Storage Bin."

Your ice maker can produce both crushed and cubed ice. The

display screen reads "CRUSHED" or "CUBED", indicating which

type is selected. To change the setting, press the ICE button

before dispensing ice.

For crushed ice, cubes are crushed before being dispensed. This

may cause a slight delay when dispensing crushed ice. Noise

from the ice crusher is normal, and pieces of ice may vary in size.

When changing from crushed to cubed, a few ounces of crushed

ice will be dispensed along with the first cubes.

To Dispense Ice:

1. If the ice storage bin is located on the door, remove the

temporary shield from underneath the ice storage bin. See

"Ice Maker and Storage Bin."

2. Press the button to select the desired type of ice.

Cut Hazard

Use a sturdy glass when dispensing ice.

Failure to do so can result in cuts.

3. Press a sturdy glass against the ice dispenser pad. Hold the

glass close to the dispenser opening so ice does not fall

outside of the glass.

IMPORTANT: You do not need to apply a lot of pressure to the

pad in order to activate the ice dispenser. Pressing hard will

not make the ice dispense faster or in greater quantities.

4. Remove the glass to stop dispensing.

NOTE: Ice may continue to dispense for up to 10 seconds

after removing the glass from the pad. The dispenser may

continue to make noise for a few seconds after dispensing.

Dispenser Tray with Water Level Indicator

(on some models}

Your dispenser may include a small tray at the bottom of the

dispenser. It is designed to catch small spills and allow for easy

cleaning. The tray can be removed from the dispenser and carried

to the sink to be emptied or cleaned.

NOTE: There is no drain in the tray. When the tray is full of water

and needs to be emptied, a small red indicator pops up at the

back of the tray.

The Dispenser Light (on some models}

When you use the dispenser, the light will automatically turn on.

If you want the light to be on continuously, you may choose either

ON or AUTO.

ON: Press LIGHT to turn the dispenser light on.

AUTO: Press LIGHT a second time to select AUTO mode. The

dispenser light will automatically adjust to become brighter as the

room brightens, dimmer as the room darkens.

OFF: Press LIGHT a third time to turn the dispenser light off.

The dispenser lights are LEDs that can not be changed. If it

appears that your dispenser lights are not working, be sure that

the light sensor is not blocked (in AUTO mode). See

"Troubleshooting" for more information.

The Dispenser Lock (on some models}

The dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to avoid

unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.

NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to

the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the

ice and water dispensers. To turn off the ice maker, see "Ice

Maker & Storage Bin."

• Press and hold LOCKOUT for 3 seconds to lock the

dispenser. While the dispenser is locking, "LOCKING" will

appear on the display screen and the blue indicator light

around the LOCKOUT button will flash. When the dispenser is

locked, the indicator light will change to red for afew seconds,

then turn off.

Press and hold LOCKOUT a second time to unlock the

dispenser. While the dispenser is unlocking, "UNLOCKING"

will appear on the display screen and the red indicator light

around the LOCKOUT button will flash. When the dispenser is

unlocked, the indicator light will change to blue for a few

seconds, then turn off.

Turning the Ice Maker On/Off

The On/Off switch is located on the top right-hand side of the

freezer compartment.

Toturn on the ice maker, slide the control to the ON (left) position.

To manually turn off the ice maker, slide the control to the OFF

(right) position.

NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. The ice maker

sensors will automatically stop ice production, but the control will

remain in the ON (left) position.

REMEMBER:

• Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice. Discard the

first three batches of ice produced.

• The quality of your ice will be only as good as the quality of the

water supplied to your ice maker. Avoid connecting the ice

maker to a softened water supply. Water softener chemicals

(such as salt) can damage parts of the ice maker and lead to

poor quality ice. If a softened water supply cannot be avoided,

make sure the water softener is operating properly and is well

maintained.

• Donotuseanythingsharptobreakuptheiceinthestorage

bin.Thiscancausedamagetotheicecontainerandthe

dispensermechanism.

• Donotstoreanythingontopoforintheicemakerorstorage

bin.

Removing and Replacing Ice Storage Bin

1. Hold the base of the storage bin with both hands and press

the release button to lift the storage bin up and out.

NOTE: It is not necessary to turn the ice maker control to the

OFF (right) position when removing the storage bin. The

sensor cover ("flipper door") on the left wall of the freezer

stops the ice maker from producing ice if the door is open or

the storage bin is removed.

2. Replace the storage bin on the door and push down to make

sure it is securely in place.

Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or

of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before

or after the system. Systems certified for cyst reduction

may be used on disinfected waters that may contain

filterable cysts.

Water Filter Status Light (on some models)

The water filter status light and display screen help you know

when to change your water filter. Press the FILTER button to

check the status of your water filter.

If the filter is new:

You must press FILTER to view the filter's status. For a few

seconds, the status light will be blue and the display screen will

show what percentage of your filter's life remains.

If it is almost time to change the filter:

The status light will automatically illuminate and will remain on,

appearing yellow. The words "ORDER FILTER" will appear on the

display screen. Press FILTER to see what percentage of your

filter's life remains. You should order the appropriate replacement

filter. See "Accessories."

If it is time to change the filter:

The status light will remain on, changing to red. The words

"REPLACE FILTER" and "HOLD BUTTON TO RESET" will appear

on the display screen until the filter has been changed and the

status light has been reset.

To reset the water filter status light:

After changing the filter, reset the status light by pressing and

holding the FILTER button for 3 seconds. The status light will blink

red and change to blue, then turn off when the system is reset.

Non-indicator Water Filter (on some models)

If your refrigerator does not have the status light, you should

change the water filter every 6 months depending upon your

usage. If the water flow to the water dispenser or ice maker

decreases noticeably before 6 months have passed, replace the

water filter more often.

Changing the Water Filter

1. Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.

2. Pull the filter straight out.

3. Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter.

IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your

refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter.

4. Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and

turn the cap until it snaps into place.

NOTE: You can run the dispenser without a filter. Your water

will not be filtered. Simply insert the cap all of the way into the

base grille and rotate the cap until it is firmly in place.

5. Remove the protective covers from the O-rings. Be sure the

O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed.

6. Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop

back out when the filter is fully engaged.

7. Flush the water system. See "Water and Ice Dispensers."

REFRIGERATOR CARE

Explosion Hazard

Use nonflammable cleaner.

Failure to do so can result in death, explosion, or fire.

Both the refrigerator and freezer sections defrost automatically.

However, clean both sections about once a month to avoid build-

up of odors. Wipe up spills immediately.

IMPORTANT: Because air circulates between both sections, any

odors formed in one section will transfer to the other. You must

thoroughly clean both sections to eliminate odors. To avoid odor

transfer and drying out of food, wrap or cover foods tightly.

To Clean Your Refrigerator:

NOTE: Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners such as window

sprays, scouring cleansers, flammable fluids, cleaning waxes,

concentrated detergents, bleaches or cleansers containing

petroleum products on plastic parts, interior and door liners or

gaskets. Do not use paper towels, scouring pads, or other harsh

cleaning tools.

1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power.

2. Hand wash, rinse, and dry removable parts and interior

surfaces thoroughly. Use a clean sponge or soft cloth and a

mild detergent in warm water.

3. Wash stainless steel and painted metal exteriors with a clean

sponge or soft cloth and a mild detergent in warm water.

There is no need for routine condenser cleaning in normal

home operating environments. If the environment is

particularly greasy or dusty, or there is significant pet traffic in

the home, the condenser should be cleaned every 2 to

3 months to ensure maximum efficiency.

If you need to clean the condenser:

• Removethe base grille.

• Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to clean the grille,

the open areas behind the grille and the front surface area

of the condenser.

• Replace the base grille when finished.

Plug in refrigerator or reconnect power.

NOTE: Not all bulbs will fit your refrigerator. Be sure to replace the

bulb with one of the same size, shape and wattage. On some

models, the dispenser light requires a heavy duty 10-watt bulb. All

other lights require a 40-watt bulb. Replacement bulbs are

available from your dealer.

1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power.

2. Remove light shield when applicable.

NOTE: To clean the light shield, wash it with warm water and

liquid detergent. Rinse and dry the shield well.

3. Remove light bulb and replace with one of the same size,

shape and wattage.

4. Replace light shield when applicable.

5. Plug in refrigerator or reconnect power.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The refrigerator will not operate

• Power cord unplugged? Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.

• Is outlet working? Plug in a lamp to see if the outlet is

working.

• Household fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped? Replace

the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. Ifthe problem continues,

call an electrician.

NOTE: Adjusting the temperature controls to coldest setting will

not cool either compartment more quickly.

Are controls on? Make sure the refrigerator controls are on.

See "Using the Controls."

New installation? Allow 24 hours following installation for the

refrigerator to cool completely.

The motor seems to run too much

Your new refrigerator may run longer than your old one due to its

high-efficiency compressor and fans. To maximize energy

efficiency, the compressor changes speed to provide just the right

amount of cooling as it is needed. Your refrigerator may run as

much as 100% of the time, but it will still use less energy than an

older refrigerator. You may notice that it runs more often when the

room is warm, a large amount of food is added to either

compartment, or the doors are opened often.

The refrigerator is noisy

Refrigerator noise has been reduced over the years. Due to this

reduction, you may hear intermittent noises from your new

refrigerator that you did not notice from your old model. Below are

listed some normal sounds with an explanation.

• Buzzing - heard when the water valve opens to fill the ice

maker

• Pulsating - fans/compressor adjusting to optimize

performance

• Rattling - flow of refrigerant, water line, or from items placed

on top of the refrigerator

• Sizzling/Gurgling - water dripping on the heater during

defrost cycle

• Popping - contraction/expansion of inside walls, especially

during initial cool-down

• Water running - may be heard when water melts during the

defrost cycle and runs into the drain pan

• Creaking/Cracking - occurs as ice is being ejected from the

ice maker mold.

The doors will not close completely

Check the following:

• Are food packages blocking the door open?

• Are all bins and shelves pushed back into the correct

positions?

The doors are difficult to open

Explosion Hazard

Use nonflammaMe cleaner.

Failure to do so can result in death, e×p_osior_, or fire.

• Are the gaskets dirty or sticky? Clean gaskets with mild

soap and warm water.

• Has the door been opened and closed within the last few

seconds? Wait at least 30 seconds to reopen the doors.

Temperature is too warm

Check the following:

• Are the air vents blocked in either compartment?

• Are the door(s) opened often?

• Has a large amount of food just been added to the refrigerator

or freezer?

• Are the controls set correctly for the surrounding conditions?

There is interior moisture buildup

NOTE: Some moisture is normal.

• Are the air vents blocked in the refrigerator?

• Are the door(s) opened often?

• Isthe room humid?

• Are the controls set correctly for the surrounding conditions?

• Was an automatic self-defrost cycle completed?

Items in meat pan/crisper are freezing

The temperature inside the meat pan/crisper may become too

cold, especially when using some additional control panel

features. Adjust the meat pan control to the closed setting.

The ice maker is not producing ice or not enough ice

• Is the ice maker wire shutoff arm or switch (depending on

models) in the OFF position?

• Is the water line shutoff valve to the refrigerator turned on?

• Has the ice maker just been installed? Is the freezer

temperature cold enough to produce ice? Wait 24 hours

after ice maker hookup for ice production to begin. Allow

3 days after ice production begins to completely fill ice

container.

Does the ice maker mold have water in it or has no ice

For models with an interior ice bin, remove the ice from the

ejector arm with a plastic utensil.

The ice cubes are hollow or small

This is an indication of low water pressure.

Check the following:

• Is the water shutoff valve fully open?

• Are there kinks in the water lines that could restrict water

flow?

• If you are using a water filter, remove the filter and operate the

dispenser. If water flow increases, the filter is clogged or

incorrectly installed.

• Is a reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to

your cold water supply? See "Water Supply Requirements"

in either the Installation Instructions or the Use & Care Guide.

• If you still have questions regarding your water pressure, call a

licensed, qualified plumber.

Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice

Check the following:

• Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or off-

flavored ice?

• Have the ice cubes been stored too long?

• Does the freezer and ice bin need to be cleaned?

• Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped properly?

• Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter

may need to be installed to remove the minerals.

• Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or

dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration

system needs additional flushing.

The ice dispenser will not operate properly

If the ice storage bin is located on the door, remove the temporary

shield from underneath the ice storage bin. See "Ice Maker and

Storage Bin."

Check the following:

• Is the freezer door closed completely?

• Is the ice bin installed correctly?

• Is there ice in the bin?

• Has the ice frozen in the ice bin?

• Is ice stuck in the delivery chute?

• Has the wrong ice been added to the bin? Use only cubes

produced by the current ice maker.

• Has the ice melted around the auger (metal spiral) in the

ice bin? Empty the ice container. Use warm water to melt the

ice if necessary.

Cut Hazard

ice? Change the ice button from "crushed" to "cubed." If

The water dispenser will not operate properly

Check the following:

• Is the freezer door closed completely?

• Is the water line connected at the source?

• Is there a kink in the home water source line?

• Has the water system not filled? The water system needs to

be filled the first time it is used.

• Is the refrigerator connected to a cold water line with

water pressure of at least 30 psi (207 kPa)? The water

pressure to the home determines the flow from the dispenser.

• Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? The filter

may be clogged or incorrectly installed.

• Is a reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to

your cold water supply? See "Water Supply Requirements"

in either the Installation Instructions or the Use & Care Guide.

Water is leaking from the dispenser

Check the following:

• Is the glass not being held under the dispenser long enough?

• Has the water system been flushed since installation or

changing filters?

The dispenser water is not cool enough

NOTE: Water from the dispenser is chilled to only 50°F (10°C).

• Has the refrigerator been newly installed or a large

amount of water recently dispensed? Allow 24 hours for the

refrigerator to cool completely.

• Has water not been recently dispensed? The first glass of

water may not be cool. Discard the first glass of water.

Max Cool (Frio maximo)

Use Max Cool (Fr_omiximo) para acelerar el enfriamiento cuando

se agrega gran cantidad de alimentos. El fr[o miximo fija la

temperatura del refrigerador en 34°F (1°C) y la temperatura del

congelador en -6°F (-21 °C) por 24 horas.

NOTA: Mientras el ajuste Max Cool este encendido, la pantalla

muestra los puntos de ajuste de temperatura correspondientes a

Max Cool. Despues de 24 horas o cuando se apague

manualmente el ajuste Max Cool, los puntos fijos volverin a su

ajuste previo.

• Presione MAX COOL para seleccionar este modo. El frio

miximo permaneceri encendido por 24 horas o hasta que se

apague manualmente.

Max Coo_

El control puede ajustarse de manera que enfrie correctamente la

carneo las verduras. El aire dentro de la charola se enfr[a para

evitar que partes de los alimentos se congelen y puede ajustarse

para mantener la carne alas temperaturas de almacenaje

recomendadas por el National Livestock and Meat Board

(Consejo Nacional de Ganado y Carnes) de 28° a 32°F (-2° a 0°C).

El control de temperatura para el caj6n convertible esti prefijado

en el ajuste de PRODUCE (Verduras).

Para guardar came:

Fije el control en uno de los tres ajustes de MEAT (Came), para

guardar la came en su temperatura ideal de almacenaje.

Para guardar verduras:

Fije el control en PRODUCE para guardar las verduras en sus

temperaturas 6ptimas de almacenaje.

NOTA: Si los alimentos se empiezan a congelar, mueva el control

hacia la izquierda (menos fr[o). Recuerde que debe esperar

24 horas entre ajustes.

• Para desactivar Holiday Mode, presione y sostenga ICE

(Hielo), LIGHT (Luz) y LOCKOUT (BIoqueo) a la vez, durante

3 segundos nuevamente.

Usted puede controlar el nivel de humedad en el caj6n hermetico

para verduras. Regule el control a cualquier ajuste entre Bajo

(LOW) y Alto (HIGH).

LOW (Bajo - posici6n abierta) para el mejor almacenamiento de

frutas y verduras con cascaras.

HIGH (Alto - posici6n cerrada) para el mejor almacenamiento de

El control de aire de la puerta esM situado del lado izquierdo del

compartimiento del refrigerador.

Deslice el control de aire de la puerta hacia la izquierda para

reducir el flujo de aire frio hacia el dep6sito o el portalatas y

hacerlo menos frfo.

Deslice el control de aire de la puerta hacia la derecha para

aumentar el flujo de aire frfo hacia el dep6sito o el portalatas y

hacerlo mas frio,

Holiday Mode (Modo de dia de fiesta) esM diseSado para aquellos

cuyas practicas religiosas requieren apagar las luces.

Para activar en su totalidad el Modo de dfa de fiesta, debera

seguir las instrucciones a continuaci6n, tanto para el control

como para los paneles del despachador.

IMPORTANTE: Si usted no activa Holiday Mode en los dos

modos indicados a continuaci6n, algunas funciones que usted

desea que se desactiven permaneceran activadas.

Panel de control

AI seleccionar Holiday Mode, los puntos fijos de temperatura

permanecen sin cambiarse y las luces interiores se apagan,

• Presione HOLIDAY MODE (Modo de dfa de fiesta) para

encender dicha caracteristica.

HomidayMode

• Presione HOLIDAY MODE nuevamente para apagarla.

Panel del despachador

En el Mode de dia de fiesta, las palancas del despachador estan

desactivadas y las luces del mismo se apagan.

• Para activar Holiday Mode, presione y sostenga ICE (Hielo),

LIGHT (Luz) y LOCKOUT (BIoqueo) a la vez, durante

3 segundos. Cuando la caracterfstica se enciende, la luz

indicadora que esta alrededor del bot6n de LOCKOUT

destellara y aparecera "HOL" en la pantalla del despachador.

Dependiendo de su modelo, su despachador de agua y hielo

puede tenet una o mas de las caracterfsticas siguientes: un

indicador del nivel de agua en la charola del despachador, una luz

especial que se enciende cuando usted utiliza el despachador o

una opci6n de bloqueo para evitar que salga hielo o agua

involuntariamente.

NOTAS:

• El sistema de distribuci6n no funcionara cuando la puerta del

congelador este abierta.

• Despues de haber conectado el refrigerador a un suministro

de agua, enjuague el sistema de agua. Use un recipiente

resistente para oprimir y sostener la barra del despachador

per 5 segundos, luego sueltela per 5 segundos. Repita hasta

que el agua comience a correr. Una vez que el agua comenz6

a correr, contin0e presionando y soltando la barra del

despachador (5 segundos activado, 5 segundos desactivado)

por otros 2 minutos. Este proceso eliminara el aire en el filtro y

en el sistema de despacho de agua, En algunas casas se

podra requerir enjuague adicional, A medida que sale aire del

• Deje transcurrir 24 horas para que el refrigerador se enfrie y

Para despachar agua:

cuantas onzas de agua han salido.

• Para cambiar de onzas a tazas, presione y sostenga ICE

(Hielo) y LOCKOUT (Bloqueo) a la vez, hasta que el

despachador suene despues de 3 segundos. Para

cambiar de tazas a litros, presione y sostenga los botones

por otros 3 segundos, Para cambiar nuevamente a onzas,

repita el proceso por tercera vez.

2. Retire el vase para detener la salida de hielo.

El despachador de hielo

El hielo se distribuye del dep6sito de la fabrica de hielo en el

congelador cuando se presione la almohadilla del despachador.

El sistema de distribuci6n no funcionara cuando la puerta del

congelador este abierta, Para apagar la fabrica de hielo, vea

"Fabrica de hielo y dep6sito",

Su fabrica de hielo produce hielo picado yen cubes, La pantalla

muestra "CRUSHED" (picado) o "CUBED" (en cubes), indicando

que tipo de hielo se seleccion6. Para cambiar el ajuste, presione

el bot6n de ICE (Hielo) antes de despachar hielo.

Para obtener hielo picado, el hielo es triturado antes de set

despachado, Esto puede retrasar un poco la distribuci6n del hielo

picado. El ruido proveniente del triturador de hielo es normal y los

trozos de hielo pueden variar en tamale. Cuando cambie de la

posici6n de hielo picado a cubes, caen unas onzas de hielo

picado junto con los primeros cubos,

Para despachar hielo:

1. Si el dep6sito de hielo esta ubicado en la puerta, quite la

pantalla temporaria que se encuentra debajo del mismo. Vea

"Fabrica de hielo y depdsito".

2. Oprima el bot6n para seleccionar el tipo de hielo que desee.

3. Oprima con un vaso resistente la almohadilla del despachador

de hielo. Sostenga el vaso junto al orificio del despachador

para que el hielo no caiga fuera del vase.

IMPORTANTE: No necesita aplicar mucha presi6n a la

almohadilla para activar el despachador de hielo. Oprimir

fuerte no hara que el despachador funcione con mas rapidez

o produzca mayor cantidad de hielo.

4. Retire el vase para detener la salida de hielo.

NOTA: El hielo puede continuar saliendo por hasta

10 segundos despues de haber retirado el vase de la

almohadilla. El despachador puede continuar haciendo ruido

pot algunos segundos despues de haber despachado.

Charola del despachador con indicador de nivel de agua

(en algunos modelos)

Su despachador puede incluir una pequer_a charola en el fondo

del mismo. Esta disefiada para contener pequer_os derrames y

facilitar la limpieza. La charola puede quitarse del despachador y

ser Ilevada a un lavabo para vaciarse o limpiarse.

NOTA: La charola no tiene desagQe. Cuando la charola esta Ilena

de agua y necesita ser vaciada, un peque_o indicador rojo se

enciende en la parte trasera de la charola.

La luz del despachador (en algunos modelos}

Cuando usted utilice el despachador, la luz se encendera

automaticamente. Si usted desea que la luz este encendida

continuamente, puede elegir ON (Encendido) o AUTO

(Automatico).

ON (Encendido}: Presione LIGHT (Luz) para encender la luz del

despachador.

AUTO (Automatico}: Presione LIGHT por segunda vez para

seleccionar el modo AUTO. La luz del despachador se ajustara

automaticamente para ponerse mas brillante a medida que la

habitaci6n se ilumine mas y mas tenue a medida que la habitaci6n

se oscurezca.

OFF (Apagado}: Presione LIGHT per tercera vez para apagar la

luz del despachador.

Las luces del despachador son del tipo LED y no se pueden

cambiar. Si le parece que las luces del despachador no funcionan,

fijese si no esta bloqueado el detector de luz (en el mode

Automatico). Para obtener mas informaci6n, vea "Soluci6n de

problemas".

El bloqueo del despachador (en algunos modelos)

El despachador puede bloquearse para facilitar la limpieza o para

evitar que sea activado accidentalmente per nir_os peque_os o

animales domesticos.

NOTA: La funci6n de bloqueo no interrumpe el flujo electrico a la

unidad, a la fabrica de hielo o a la luz del despachador.

Simplemente desactiva los despachadores de hielo y agua. Para

apagar la fabrica de hielo, vea "Fabrica de hielo y dep6sito".

• Presione y sostenga LOCKOUT (Bloqueo) por 3 segundos

para bloquear el despachador. Cuando el despachador se

este bloqueando, aparecera "LOCKING" (Bloqueando) en la

pantalla y la luz indicadora azul alrededor del bot6n de

LOCKOUT destellara. Cuando el despachador esta

bloqueado, la luz indicadora cambiara a rojo per unos pocos

segundos y luego se apagara.

• Presione y sostenga LOCKOUT por segunda vez para

desbloquear el despachador. Cuando el despachador se este

desbloqueando, aparecera "UNLOCKING" (Desbloqueando)

en la pantalla y la luz indicadora roja alrededor del bot6n de

LOCKOUT destellara. Cuando el despachador esta

desbloqueado, la luz indicadora cambiara a azul per unos

pocos segundos y luego se apagara.

Para encender y apagar la f&brica de hielo

El interruptor de encendido/apagado (On/Off) se encuentra en el

lade derecho superior del compartimiento del congelador.

Para poner a funcionar la fabrica de hielo, deslice el control a la

posici6n de encendido (ON - hacia la izquierda).

Para apagar la fabrica de hielo manualmente, deslice el control a

la posici6n de apagado (OFF - hacia la derecha).

NOTA: La fabrica de hielo tiene un interruptor automatico. Los

sensores de la fabrica de hielo detendran automaticamente la

producci6n de hielo pero el control permanecera en la posici6n de

encendido (ON - hacia la izquierda).

RECUERDE:

• Deje transcurrir 24 horas para la producci6n del primer Iote de

hielo. Deshagase de los tres primeros Iotes de hielo

producidos.

• La calidad del hielo dependera de la calidad del agua que

suministre a su fabrica de hielo. Evite la conexi6n de su

fabrica de hielo a un suministro de agua blanda. Los quimicos

para ablandar el agua (como la sal) pueden da_ar ciertos

componentes de la fabrica de hielo y producir un hielo de muy

baja calidad. Si no se puede evitar el use de un suministro de

agua blanda, asegQrese de que el ablandador de agua este

funcionando correctamente y que goce de un buen

mantenimiento.

• No use instrumentos afilados para romper el hielo en el

dep6sito. Esto puede da_ar el dep6sito y el mecanismo de

despachado.

• No guarde nada encima ni dentro de la fabrica de hielo ni en el

dep6sito.

Para quitar y volver a colocar el depbsito de hielo

1. Sostenga la base del dep6sito con ambas manos y presione

el bot6n liberador para levantar el dep6sito hacia arriba y

hacia afuera.

NOTA: No es necesario girar el control de la fabrica de hielo a

la posici6n de apagado (OFF - hacia la derecha) cuando quite

el dep6sito de hielo. La cubierta del sensor ("puerta abatible")

en la pared izquierda del congelador hace que la fabrica de

hielo deje de producir hielo si la puerta esta abierta o se ha

quitado el dep6sito.

2. Vuelva a colocar el dep6sito en la puerta y emp0jelo hacia

abajo para asegurarse de que esta seguro en su lugar.

No use con agua que no sea microbiol6gicamente segura

o que sea de calidad desconocida sin desinfectarla

adecuadamente antes o despues del sistema. Pueden

usarse sistemas certificados para Ia reduccidn de quistes

en aguas desinfectadas que puedan contener quistes

filtrables.

Luz de estado del filtro de agua (en algunos modelos)

La luz de estado del filtro de agua y la pantalla le ayudan para

saber cuando cambiar el filtro de agua. Presione el bot6n de

FILTER (Filtro) para controlar el estado de su filtro de agua.

Si el filtro es nuevo:

Debera presionar FILTER para ver el estado del filtro. Por unos

segundos, la luz de estado estara encendida de azul y la pantalla

mostrara que porcentaje de vida 0til le queda a su filtro.

Si ya es casi tiempo de cambiar su filtro:

La luz de estado se iluminara automaticamente y permanecera

encendida de color amarillo. Las palabras "ORDER FILTER" (Pedir

filtro) apareceran en la pantalla. Presione FILTER para ver que

porcentaje de vida 0til le queda a su filtro. Debera pedir el filtro de

reemplazo adecuado. Vea "Accesorios".

Si ya es tiempo de cambiar su filtro:

La luz de estado permanecera encendida y cambiara a rojo. Las

palabras "REPLACE FILTER" (Reemplazar el filtro) y "HOLD

BUTTON TO RESET" (Presionar botdn para reajustar) apareceran

en la pantalla hasta que se haya cambiado el filtro y reajustado la

luz de estado.

Para reajustar la luz de estado del filtro de agua:

Despues de cambiar el filtro, reajuste la luz de estado al presionar

y sostener el botdn de FILTER (Filtro) 3 segundos. La luz de

estado destellara con color rojo, luego cambiara a azul, y por

Ultimo se apagara cuando se reajuste el sistema.

Filtro de agua sin indicador (en algunos modelos}

Si su refrigerador no tiene la luz indicadora de estado, usted debe

cambiar el filtro de agua cada 6 meses seg0n el uso. Si el flujo de

agua hacia el despachador de agua o a la fabrica de hielo

disminuye sensiblemente antes de que pasen 6 meses, cambie el

filtro de agua mas seguido.

Cbmo cambiar el filtro de agua

1. Oprima el bot6n eyector para liberar el filtro de la rejilla de la

base.

2. Jale el filtro en sentido recto hacia afuera.

3. Gire la tapa en sentido contrario al de las manecillas del reloj

para quitarla del filtro.

IMPORTANTE: No descarte la tapa. Es parte de su

refrigerador. Guarde la tapa para usarla con el filtro de

reemplazo.

4. Alinee el Iomo de la tapa con la flecha en el filtro nuevo y gire

la tapa hasta que encaje en su lugar.

NOTA: Puede usar el despachador sin un filtro. El agua no

estara filtrada. Sencillamente introduzca la tapa

completamente en la rejilla de la base y r6tela hasta que este

firmemente en su lugar.

5. Quite las cubiertas protectoras de los anillos O. Aseg@ese de

que los anillos O sigan en su lugar despues de que se

quitaron las tapas.

6. Empuje el filtro dentro de la rejilla de la base. El bot6n eyector

saltara nuevamente hacia afuera cuando el filtro este

enganchado por completo.

7. Enjuague el sistema de agua. Vea "Despachadores de agua y

hielo".

CUIDADO DE SU

REFRIGERADOR

Peligro de E×ploei6n

Use un limpiador no inflamable.

No eeguir eeta inetrucci6n puede ocasionar la rnuerte,

e×ploei6n o incendio.

Tanto la secci6n del refrigerador como la del congelador se

descongelan automaticamente. No obstante, limpie ambas

secciones mas o menos una vez al mes para evitar la

acumulaci6n de olores. Limpie los derrames de inmediato.

IMPORTANTE: Debido a que el aire circula entre ambas

secciones, los olores que se formen en una secci6n pasaran a la

otra. Para eliminar los olores, limpie completamente ambas

secciones. Para evitar la transferencia de olores y la

deshidrataci6n de los alimentos, envuelva o tape bien los

alimentos.

Para limpiar su refrigerador:

NOTA: No use productos de limpieza abrasivos o asperos, come

aerosoles para ventanas, productos de limpieza para fregar,

liquidos inflamables, ceras para limpieza, detergentes

concentrados, blanqueadores o productos de limpieza que

contengan productos derivados del petr61eo en las partes de

plastico, en el interior yen los revestimientos o juntas de la

puerta. No use toallas de papel, estropajos para fregar u otros

utensilios de limpieza asperos.

1. Desenchufe el refrigerador o desconecte el suministro de

energia.

2. Lave a mano, enjuague y seque todas las partes

desmontables y las superficies interiores meticulosamente.

Use una esponja limpia o un pate liso y un detergente suave

en agua tibia.

3. Lave las superficies externas metalicas pintadas y de acero

inoxidable con una esponja limpia o un patio liso y detergente

suave con agua tibia.

4. No es necesaria una limpieza rutinaria del condensador en

ambientes de funcionamiento normal en el hogar. Si el

ambiente es particularmente grasoso o polvoriento, o si hay

bastante transito de mascotas en el hogar, el condensador

debera limpiarse cada dos o tres meses para asegurar la

maxima eficacia.

Si necesita limpiar el condensador:

• Quite la rejilla de la base.

• Use una aspiradora con un cepillo suave para limpiar la

rejilla, las Areas abiertas detras de la rejilla y el Area de la

superficie frontal del condensador.

• Vuelva a colocar la rejilla de la base cuando termine.

5. Enchufe el refrigerador o reconecte el suministro de energfa.

NOTA: No todos los focos son adecuados para su refrigerador.

AsegQrese de cambiar el foco con otro que sea del mismo

tamaSo, forma y vatiaje. En algunos modelos, la luz del

despachador requiere de un foco de 10 vatios de uso pesado y

las demas luces requieren un foco de 40 vatios. Puede conseguir

los focos de reemplazo con su distribuidor.

1. Desenchufe el refrigerador o desconecte el suministro de

energia.

2. Si se indica, quite la pantalla de la luz.

NOTA: Para limpiar la pantalla de la luz, lavela con agua tibia y

un detergente Ifquido. Enjuague y sequela pantalla

meticulosamente.

3. Quite el foco y reemplacelo con uno del mismo tamaSo, forma

y vatiaje.

4. Si se indica, vuelva a colocar la pantalla.

5. Enchufe el refrigerador o reconecte el suministro de energia.

SOLUCION DE PROBLEMAS

Primero pruebe las soluciones sugeridas aqui para evitar el costo innecesario del servicio.

El refrigerador no funciona

Peligro de Choque E_4ctrico

Conecte a un contacto de pared de co_e×i6_ a tierra de

3 terminates.

No quite la termina_ de conexi6n a tierra.

No use un adaptador.

No use un cable el4ctrico de exte_si6n.

No seguir estas instrucciones puede ocasmo_ar

_amuerte, incendio o choque e_ectrico.

• &Esta desenchufado el cable el4ctrico? Conecte a un

contacto de pared de conexi6n a tierra de 3 terminales.

• &Funciona el contacto? Enchufe una lampara para ver si

funciona el contacto.

• &Hay un fusible fundido o se dispar6 el cortacircuitos?

Reemplace el fusible o reposicione el cortacircuitos. Si el

problema continQa, Ilame a un electricista.

• &Estan encendidos los controles? AsegQrese de que los

controles del refrigerador esten encendidos. Vea "Uso de los

controles".

• &Es nueva la instalaci6n? Deje transcurrir 24 horas despues

de la instalaci6n para que el refrigerador se enfrie por

completo.

NOTA: El ajustar los controles de temperatura en la posici6n mas

ffia no enfria ningOn compartimiento mas rapido.

Parece que el motor funciona excesivamente

Es posible que su nuevo refrigerador funcione por periodos mas

largos que su refrigerador anterior debido al compresor y los

ventiladores de alto rendimiento. Para obtener el maximo

rendimiento energetico, el compresor cambia la velocidad para

proveer simplemente la cantidad justa de enfriamiento que sea

necesario. Su refrigerador podra funcionar hasta el 100% en todo

momento, pero alan asi usara menos energia que su refrigerador

mas viejo. Tal vez note que funciona mas seguido cuando la

habitaci6n esta calida, se agregue una gran cantidad de comida a

cualquiera de los compartimientos o se abran las puertas a

menudo.

El refrigerador es ruidoso

El ruido del refrigerador se ha ido reduciendo a Io largo de los

a_os. Debido a esta reducci6n, es posible que escuche ruidos

intermitentes en su nuevo refrigerador que no habia notado en el

modelo viejo. A continuaci6n se enumeran algunos sonidos

normales con una explicaci6n.

• Zumbido - se escucha cuando la valvula de agua se abre

para Ilenar la fabrica de hielo

• Sonido pulsante - los ventiladores/el compresor se estan

ajustando para obtener el maximo desemper_o

• Vibraciones - flujo de I[quido refrigerante, tuberia de agua o

articulos guardados arriba del refrigerador

• Chisporroteos/Gorgoteos - agua goteando en el calentador

durante el ciclo de descongelaci6n

• Estallido - contracci6n/expansi6n de las paredes interiores,

especialmente durante el enfriamiento inicial

• Agua corriendo - puede escucharse cuando el hielo se

derrite durante el ciclo de descongelaci6n y corre hacia la

bandeja recolectora

• Chirridos/Crujidos - esto ocurre cuando el hielo es

expulsado del molde de la fabrica de hielo.

La temperatura dentro de la bandeja para carnes/caj6n para

verduras puede ponerse demasiado fria, especialmente cuando

se utilizan caracteristicas adicionales del panel de control. Regule

el control de la bandeja para carnes al ajuste cerrado.

• _,Seacaba de sacar una gran cantidad de hielo? Deje

transcurrir 24 horas para que la fabrica de hielo se

restablezca.

• _,Tiene un filtro de agua instalado en el refrigerador? Este

filtro puede estar obstruido o haberse instalado

incorrectamente.

• _,Setrab6 un cubo de hielo en el brazo eyector de la

fabrica de hielo? En los modelos con dep6sito de hielo

interior, saque el hielo del brazo eyector con un utensilio de

plastico.

• &Se ha conectado un sistema de filtraci6n de agua de

6smosis inversa al suministro de agua fria? Yea

Instrucciones de instalaci6n o en el Manual de use y cuidado.

Los cubos de hielo son huecos o pequehos

Esto es una indicaci6n de baja presi6n de agua.

Verifique Io siguiente:

• _,Esta abierta per complete la valvula de cierre de agua?

• _,Hay torceduras en la tuberia de agua que pudieran restringir

el flujo de agua?

• Siesta usando un filtro de agua, saque el filtro y ponga a

funcionar el despachador. Si mejora el flujo de agua, el filtro

esta obstruido o instalado incorrectamente.

• _,Seha conectado un sistema de filtraci6n de agua de

6smosis inversa al suministro de agua fria? Yea

instalaci6n o en el Manual de use y cuidado,

• Si todavia tiene preguntas acerca de la presi6n del agua,
