practices

developed

from

use

welding

and

cutting

are

described

this

manual.

development,

field

experience

have

evolved

reliable

equipment

and

safe

installation,

opera

Accidents

occur

when

equipment

is

improperly

used

or

maintained.

The

reason

for

the

safe

practices

may

not

always

be

Metals

This

unit

is

a

boom-mounted

wire

feeder.

The

wire

feed

er

is

of

the

constant

wire

feed

speed

type

which

feeds

wire

alternately

from

two

welding

guns.

It

is

designed

to

be

used

in

conjunction

with

one

or

two

constant

voltage

welding

power

sources.

The

boom

is

a

patented

design

allowing

both

vertical

lift

and

swing.

Cables

are

routed

through

the

boom

from

the

feeder

control

to

the

wire

drive

assembly.

The

wire

feeder

is

a

heavy

dutywire

feeding

unit

contain

ing

all

the

controls

and

equipment

needed

to

supply

welding

wire

and

shielding

gas

to

the

welding

guns.

The

service

life

and

efficiency

of

this

unit

and

associated

components

are

reduced

when

they

are

subjected

to

high

levels

of

dust,

dirt,

moisture,

corrosive

vapors,

and

extreme

heat.

A

suitable

location

for

this

unit

will

allow

room

for

the

boom

to

swing

horizontally

in

the

desired

arc

and

to

pivot

upward

to

the

desired

angle.

Proper

placement

will

also

provide

sufficient

clearance

from

obstruction

at

the

wire

support

end

of

the

unit

when

the

boom

swings.

The

structure

to

which

the

unit

is

being

installed

should

be

of

sufficient

construction

to

support

the

weight

of

the

unit

when

the

boom

is

in

the

horizontal

position.
