L’importance de la qualité du

est reconnue de longue date
et de nombreux constructeurs
spécialisés proposent au-
jourd’hui des pieds spéciaux
dont l’inertie, le poids,
la structure et les différentes
techniques de découplage
par rapport au sol améliorent
spectaculairement les
performances des enceintes
qu’ils supportent.
Néanmoins des défauts
subsistent dont le principal
est l’établissement
d’ondes stationnaires entre
le sol et le plateau supérieur du pied ou la base de
l’enceinte ce qui provoque des accidents notables
dans la réponse en fréquences et la réponse en phase.
MAGIC STAND II
®
utilise un système actif exclusif qui
fait intervenir deux résonateurs à fréquences décalées
et des surfaces angulées de telle sorte que le signal est
diffracté de manière optimale en basses fréquences
(bande 100 - 400 Hz).
Les résultats sont spectaculaires et ils ne sont pas
seulement audibles mais également mesurables
comme en témoignent les courbes de réponses
publiées ci-dessous et relevées en analyse de bruit rose
avec la même enceinte.
L’enceinte a été posée, d’une part sur un pied métallique
sablé remarquablement lourd et
inerte (voir courbe inférieure) et
d’autre part sur MAGIC STAND II
®
(courbe supérieure).
Les hauteurs étaient bien évidem-
ment les mêmes pour les enceintes
et le microphone de mesure était
situé exactement au même endroit.
CONSTATS
La réponse en fréquences s’inscrit avec le pied en
métal dans un gabarit de 8 dB. Avec MAGIC STAND II
®
elle s’inscrit dans un gabarit de 4 dB.
Le niveau à 50 Hz par rapport au niveau référence est
à -6 dB avec le pied métallique, il est seulement
à -3 dB avec MAGIC STAND II
®
.
NB : Ce pied donne des résultats optima avec des enceintes
dont les hauteurs sont comprises entre 30 et 50 cm.

Design limitations of current
loudspeaker stands. It is well
known that the rigidity,weight, and
floor-decoupling characteristics of
a loudspeaker stand can dramatically
alter the performance characteristics
of the loudspeaker with which it is
used, and there are many stands on
the market today that feature various
combinations and applications of these
design elements. However, all current
loudspeaker stands share a design
flaw with regard to the establishment
of standing waves between
the floor and the upper part of
the stand, resulting in unintended anomalies
in frequency and phase response.
A new paradigm. In order to overcome the inherent
design limitations of current loudspeaker stand techno-
logy and the associated coloration and smearing of the
program material, Jean-Marie Reynaud has designed
his type of loudspeaker stand, the MAGIC STAND
®
.
The MAGIC STAND II
®
uses an exclusive active system
of two Hemholtz resonators tuned at two different
frequencies, with the front surfaces arranged to optimally
diffract low frequency signals from 100 to 400 Hz.
The spectacular results achieved with the
MAGIC STAND II
®
are not only audible, but also
measurable, as shown by the pink noise analysis
frequency response curves provided below.
In the first test condition, the loudspeaker was placed
on a remarkably heavy and inert hollow metallic stand
(lower curve). In the second,
the loudspeaker was placed on
a MAGIC STAND II
®
(upper curve).
Heights of the two different stands
was the same, and the microphone
was situated in the same place
relative to the loudspeaker.
RESULTS
With the metal stand, the frequency response plot
demonstrate a variance of 8 dB and a 50 Hz downpoint
of -6 dB, while the MAGIC STAND II
®
test resulted in
only a 4 dB variation in frequency response and a 50 Hz
downpoint of only -3 dB.
NOTE : The magic stand will produce the best results with
loudspeakers whose cabinets are between 11 to 20 inches high.
