• Do not try to light any appliance.

• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone. Follow the gas supplier's

- Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer, service agency, or

Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 or the Canadian Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA B149.1.
The dryer must be electrically grounded in accordance with local codes, or in the absence of local codes, with the National
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 or Canadian Electrical Code, CSA C22.1.
INSTALLATIONINSTRUCTIONS
Gather the required tools and parts before starting installation.
Read and follow the instructions provided with any tools listed

Failure to do so can result in death, explosion, or fire.
You will need
• A location that allows for proper exhaust installation. A gas
washer/dryer must be exhausted to the outdoors. See
"Venting Requirements."
• A grounded electrical outlet located within 2 ft (61 cm) of
either side of the washer/dryer. See "Electrical Requirements."
• A sturdy floor to support the washer/dryer weight (washer/
dryer, water and load) of 500 Ibs (226.8 kg).
• A level floor with a maximum slope of 1" (2.5 cm) under entire
washer/dryer. Clothes may not tumble properly and automatic
sensor cycles may not operate correctly if washer/dryer is not
level. Installing on carpet is not recommended.
• Awaterheatersettodeliver120°F(49°C)watertothewasher.

Installation spacing for recessed area or closet installation
The following spacing dimensions are recommended for this
washer/dryer. This washer/dryer has been tested for spacing of 0"
(0 cm) clearance on the sides. Recommended spacing should be
considered for the following reasons:
• Additional spacing should be considered for ease of
installation and servicing.
• Additional clearances might be required for wall, door and
floor moldings.
• Additional spacing on all sides of the laundry center is
recommended to reduce noise transfer.
For closet installation, with a door, minimum ventilation
openings in the top and bottom of the door are required.
Louvered doors with equivalent ventilation openings are
acceptable.

Mobile Home - Additional Installation Requirements
This washer/dryer is suitable for mobile home installations.
The installation must conform to the Manufactured Home
Construction and Safety Standard, Title 24 CFR, Part 3280
(formerly the Federal Standard for Mobile Home Construction and
Safety, Title 24, HUD Part 280) or Standard CAN/CSA-Z240 MH.
Mobile home installations require:
• Metal exhaust system hardware, which is available for
purchase from your dealer.
• Mobile Home Installation Kit Part Number 346764. See "Tools
and Parts" section for information on ordering.
• Special provisions must be made in mobile homes to
introduce outside air into the dryer. The opening (such as a
nearby window) should be at least twice as large as the dryer
exhaust opening.
The washer/dryer can be installed using the standpipe drain
system (floor or wall), the laundry tub drain system, or the floor
drain system. Select the drain hose installation method you need.
See "Alternate Parts."
Standpipe drain system - wall or floor (views A & B)
The standpipe drain requires a minimum diameter standpipe of
2" (5 cm). The minimum carry-away capacity can be no less than
17 gal. (64 L) per minute. A 2" (5 cm) diameter to 1" (2.5 cm)
diameter standpipe adapter kit is available. See "Alternate Parts."
The top of the standpipe must be at least 39" (99 cm) high and no
higher than 96" (2.4 m) from the bottom of the washer.

Laundry tub drain system (view C}
The laundry tub needs a minimum 20 gal. (76 L) capacity. The top
of the laundry tub must be at least 34" (86.4 cm) above the floor
and no higher than 96" (2.4 m) from the bottom of the washer.
Floor drain system (view D)
The floor drain system requires a siphon break that may be
purchased separately. See "Alternate Parts."
The siphon break must be a minimum of 28" (71 cm) from the
bottom of the washer. Additional hoses might be needed.

GROUNDING iNSTRUCTIONS
[] For a grounded, cord-connected washer/dryer:
This washer/dryer must be grounded. In the event of
malfunction or breakdown, grounding will reduce the risk of
electric shock by providing a path of least resistance for
electric current. This washer/dryer is equipped with a cord
having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding
plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet
that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with
all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING: Improper connection of the equipment-
grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock.
Check with a qualified electrician or service representative or
personnel if you are in doubt as to whether the washer/dryer
is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with
the washer/dryer: if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper
outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Electrical Shock Hazard
Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
Do not remove ground prong.
Do not use an adapter.
Do not use an extension cord.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death,
fire, or electrical shock.
A 120 volt, 60 Hz., AC only, 15- or 20-amp, fused electrical
supply is required. A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is
recommended. It is also recommended that a separate circuit
serving only this appliance be provided.
To minimize possible shock hazard, the cord must be plugged
into a mating, 3 prong, grounding-type outlet, grounded in
accordance with local codes and ordinances. If a mating
outlet is not available, it is the personal responsibility and
obligation of the customer to have the properly grounded
outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
IMPORTANT: The washer/dryer must be electrically grounded
in accordance with local codes, or in the absence of local
codes, with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 or
with the Canadian Electrical Code, CSA C22.1.
• If codes permit and a separate ground wire is used, it is
recommended that a qualified electrician determine that the
ground path is adequate.
• Do not ground to a gas pipe.
• Check with a qualified electrician if you are not sure the
washer/dryer is properly grounded.
Explosion Hazard
Use a new CSA international approved gas supply line.

Securely tighten all gas connections.
If connected to LP, have a qualified person make sure
gas pressure does not exceed 13" (33 cm) water
column.
Examples of a qualified person include:
licensed heating personnel,
authorized gas company personnel, and
authorized service personnel.
Failure to do so can result in death, explosion, or fire.
Gas type
Natural Gas:
This washer/dryer is equipped for use with Natural gas. It is
design-certified by CSA International for LP (propane or butane)
gases with appropriate conversion.
• Your washer/dryer must have the correct burner for the type of
gas in your home. Burner information is located on the rating
plate in the door well of your dryer. Ifthis information does not
agree with the type of gas available, contact your dealer or call
the phone numbers referenced on the front page of the
Washer/Dryer User Instructions.
LP gas conversion:
Conversion must be made by a qualified technician.
No attempt shall be made to convert the appliance from the gas
specified on the model/serial rating plate for use with a different
gas without consulting your gas company.
Gas supply line
• Must include r/8"NPT minimum plugged tapping accessible
for test gauge connection, immediately upstream of the gas
connection to the washer/dryer (see illustration).
• r/2" IPS pipe is recommended.
• 3/8"approved aluminum or copper tubing is acceptable for
lengths under 20 ft (6.1 m) if local codes and gas supplier
permit.
• If you are using Natural gas, do not use copper tubing.
• Lengths over 20 ft (6.1 m) should use larger tubing and a
different size adapter fitting.
• Gas supply line coupling must be 34" (86.4 cm) to 37" (94 cm)
from the floor.
• If your washer/dryer has been converted to use LP gas, %" LP
compatible copper tubing can be used. If the total length of
the supply line is more than 20 ft (6.1 m), use larger pipe.
NOTE: Pipe-joint compounds that resist the action of LP gas
must be used. Do not use TEFLON _ttape.
• Must include a shutoff valve:
In the U.S.A.:
An individual manual shutoff valve must be installed within
six (6)feet (1.8 m) of the dryer in accordance with the National
Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1.
In Canada:
An individual manual shutoff valve must be installed in
accordance with the B149.1, Natural Gas and Propane
Installation Code. It is recommended that an individual
manual shutoff valve be installed within six (6) feet (1.8 m)
of the dryer.
The location should be easy to reach for opening and closing.

Burner input requirements
Elevations up to 10,000 ft (3,048 meters):
• The design of this washer/dryer is certified by CSA
International for use at altitudes up to 10,000 ft (3,048 m)
above sea level at the Btu rating indicated on the model/serial
number plate. Burner input adjustments are not required when
the dryer is operated up to this elevation.
Elevations above 10,000 ft (3,048 meters):
• When installed above 10,000 ft (3,048 m) a 4% reduction of
the burner Btu rating shown on the model/serial number plate
is required for each 1,000 ft (305 m) increase in elevation.

Gas supply pressure testing
• The washer/dryer must be disconnected from the gas supply
piping system during pressure testing at pressures greater
than 1/2psi.
Dryer gas connection
• This washer/dryer is equipped with its own permanent,
flexible gas connector design-certified by CSA International,
for connecting the washer/dryer to the gas supply line.

Fire Hazard
Use a heavy metal vent.
Do not use a plastic vent.
Do not use a metal foil vent.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death
or fire.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, this washer/dryer
MUST BE EXHAUSTED OUTDOORS.
IMPORTANT: Observe all governing codes and ordinances.
The dryer exhaust must not be connected into any gas vent,
chimney, wall, ceiling or a concealed space of a building.
If using an existing vent system
• Clean lint from the entire length of the system and make sure
exhaust hood is not plugged with lint.
• Replace any plastic or metal foil vent with rigid or flexible
heavy metal vent.
• Review Vent system chart. Modify existing vent system if
necessary to achieve the best drying performance.
If this is a new vent system
Vent material
• Use a heavy metal vent. Do not use plastic or metal foil vent.

Rigid metal vent
• For best drying performance, rigid metal vents are
recommended.
• Rigid metal vent is recommended to avoid crushing and
kinking.
Flexible metal vent
• Flexible metal vents are acceptable only if accessible for
cleaning.
• Flexible metal vent must be fully extended and supported
when the dryer is in its final location.
• Remove excess flexible metal vent to avoid sagging and
kinking that may result in reduced airflow and poor
performance.
• Do not install flexible metal vent in enclosed walls, ceilings or
floors.
Elbows
45° elbows provide better airflow than 90° elbows.

• Use clamps to seal all joints.
• Exhaust vent must not be connected or secured with screws
or other fastening devices that extend into the interior of the
duct. Do not use duct tape.

• An exhaust hood should cap the vent to keep rodents and
insects from entering the home.
• Exhaust hood must be at least 12" (30.5 cm) from the ground
or any object that may be in the path of the exhaust (such as
flowers, rocks or bushes, snow line, etc.).
• Do not use an exhaust hood with a magnetic latch.
improper venting can cause moisture and lint to collect
indoors, which may result in:
[] Moisture damage to woodwork, furniture, paint, wallpaper,
carpets, etc.
[] Housecleaning problems and health problems.
Excessive Weight Hazard
Use two or more people to move and install
washer/dryer.
Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.
To avoid floor damage, set washer/dryer onto cardboard before
moving across floor. Move washer/dryer close to its final location.
1. Do not cut yellow strap. Pull yellow strap firmly, until
completely removed from washer/dryer. There should be
2 cotter pins on the end of the shipping strap. Remove the
hang tag and pin from the vent pipe.
2. Tilt the washer/dryer forward. Move each of the 2 rear legs in
an up-down motion to check the self-adjusting leveling legs
for free movement. This is required for proper leveling. Gently
lower the washer/dryer to the floor.
3. Cut the shipping strap about 16" (40,6 cm) from the plug end.
Look for the words "CUT HERE." Discard end with cotter pins.
You will use the remaining piece of shipping strap to secure
the drain hose.
Install the front leveling feet
1. Prop up the front of the washer/dryer about 4" (10,2 cm) with
a wood block or similar object. The block needs to support
the weight of the washer/dryer.
2. Screw the Iocknut onto each foot to within 1" (2.5 cm) of the
base.

3. Screw the feet into the correct holes at the front corner of the
washer/dryer until the nuts touch the washer.
NOTE: Do not tighten the nuts until the washer/dryer is level.
4. Tilt the washer/dryer back and remove the wood block, Gently
lower the washer/dryer to the floor.
For mobile home use
Washer/dryers with gas dryers must be securely fastened to the
floor.
Mobile home installations require a Mobile Home Installation Kit.
See "Tools and Parts" section for information on ordering.
Proper connection of the drain hose protects your floors from
damage due to water leakage. To keep the drain hose from
coming off or leaking, it must be installed according to the
following instructions:
IMPORTANT: To ensure proper installation, this procedure must
be followed exactly.
1. Check the drain hose to see whether it is the proper length.
2. Wet the inside of the straight end of the drain hose with tap
water.
IMPORTANT: Do not use any lubricant other than wate£
3. Squeeze ears of the silver, double-wire clamp with pliers to
open. Place clamp over the straight end of the drain hose

Open clamp, Twist hose back and forth while pushing onto
drain connector on the side of the washer/dryer. Continue until
hose contacts the ribbed stops on the cabinet.
5. Place clamp over the area marked "CLAMR" Release clamp.
For laundry tub or standpipe drain systems
1. Make sure drain hose form is in correct position.

2. Put hooked end of drain hose into laundry tub or standpipe.
Rotate hook to eliminate kinks.
To keep drain water from going back into the washer:
• Do not force excess drain hose into standpipe. Hose should
be secure but loose enough to provide a gap for air.
• Do not lay excess hose on the bottom of the laundry tub.
For use with floor drain
Do not install the drain hose form onto the corrugated drain hose,
You may need additional parts. See Floor drain under "Tools and
Parts."
Insert a new flat washer into each end of the inlet hoses.
Firmly seat the washers in the couplings.

Connect the inlet hoses to the water faucets
Make sure the washer basket is empty.
1. Attach hose to the hot water faucet. Screw on coupling by
hand until it is seated on the washer.
2. Attach hose to the cold water faucet. Screw on coupling by
hand until it is seated on the washer.
3. Usingpliers,tightenthecouplingswithanadditionaltwo-
thirdsturn.
NOTE:Donotovertightenorusetapeorsealantsonthevalve.

Clearthe water lines
• Run water through both faucets and inlet hoses, into a bucket
or laundry tub, drainpipe or bucket to get rid of particles in the
water lines that might clog the inlet valve screens.
• Check the temperature of the water to make sure that the hot
water hose is connected to the hot water faucet and that the
cold water hose is connected to the cold water faucet.
Connect the inlet hoses to the washer
1. Attach the hot water hose to the bottom inlet valve. Attaching

Move the washer/dryer into its final location and remove
cardboard from under washer/dryer. Remove the access panel by
removing 3 Phillips-head screws and one bumper, located at the
top of the access panel. Set panel, screw, and bumper aside.
Complete hookup of water hoses. Replace access panel upon
completion of washer/dryer installation.

Check for leaks
• Turn on the water faucets and check for leaks. A small amount
of water might enter the washer. You will drain this water later.
NOTE: Replace inlet hoses after 5 years of use to reduce the risk
of hose failure. Record hose installation or replacement dates for
future reference.
• If you connect only one water hose, you must cap off the
remaining water inlet port.
• Periodically inspect and replace hoses if bulges, kinks, cuts,
wear, or leaks are found.
• The apparatus must be connected to the water faucets using
the new hoses. Do not use old hoses.
1. Move the washer/dryer to its final location and remove any
cardboard used to move the washer/dryer.
2. Locate the remaining piece of shipping strap. See "Remove
Shipping Strap."

Wrap the drain hose to the laundry tub leg or standpipe with
the shipping strap (A or B below). Push fastener into the
nearest hole in the shipping strap (see illustration above).

If the water faucets and the drain standpipe are recessed, put
the hooked end of the drain hose in the standpipe. Tightly
wrap the shipping strap around the water inlet hoses and the
drain hose (C above). Push fastener into the nearest hole in

portion of the mobile home structure and must not terminate

• Plan the installation to use the fewest number of elbows and

Determine vent length and elbows needed for best drying
performance
• Use the Vent system chart below to determine type of vent
material and hood combinations acceptable to use.
NOTE: Do not use vent runs longer than those specified in the
Vent system chart. Exhaust systems longer than those
specified will:
• Shorten the life of the dryer.
• Reduce performance, resulting in longer drying times and
increased energy usage.
The Vent system chart provides venting requirements that will help
to achieve the best drying performance.

1. Install exhaust hood. Use caulking compound to seal exterior
wall opening around exhaust hood.
2. Connect vent to exhaust hood. Vent must fit inside exhaust
hood. Secure vent to exhaust hood with 4" (10.2 cm) clamp.
3. Run vent to dryer location. Use the straightest path possible.
See "Determine vent path" in "Plan Vent System." Avoid 90°
turns. Use clamps to seal all joints. Do not use duct tape,
screws or other fastening devices that extend into the interior
of the vent to secure vent.
Properly leveling your washer/dryer avoids excessive noise and
vibration.

the top edge of the washer, first side to side, then front to
back.

If the washer/dryer is not level, prop up the front with the
wood block and adjust the feet up or down as necessary.
Remove wood block.
Tilt the washer/dryer forward until the rear of the washer/dryer
is at least 4" (10.2 cm) off the floor. You may hear the self-
adjusting rear feet click into place. Lower the washer/dryer to
the floor. Check the levelness of the washer/dryer with a level
as shown above.
If washer/dryer will not level, recheck rear leveling legs for free
movement as described in the "Install Leveling Legs" section.
Repeat until the washer/dryer is level.
NOTE: It may be necessary to level the washer/dryer again
after it is moved into its final location.
After the washer/dryer is in its final location and is level, use an
adjustable or open-end wrench to turn the nuts on the front
feet tightly against the washer cabinet.
If the nuts are not tight against the washer cabinet, the
washer/dryer may vibrate.
Remove the red cap from the flexible gas connector.
Remove the r/2" NPT adapter from the flexible gas connector.
(it will be necessary to use two adjustable wrenches).
Install the adapter on the 1/2"rigid gas supply pipe using pipe-
joint compound.

Test all connections by brushing on an approved noncorrosive
leak-detection solution. Bubbles will show a leak. Correct any
leak found.
1. Using a 4" (10.2 cm) clamp, connect vent to exhaust outlet in

Wipe the dryer drum interior thoroughly with a damp cloth to
remove any dust.
Totest the washer, measure 1/2the normal recommended
amount of detergent and pour it into the washer. Close the lid.
Select HEAVY DUTY and pull out the Cycle Control knob.
Allow the washer to complete one whole cycle.
Totest the dryer, set the dryer on a full heat cycle (not an air
cycle) for 20 minutes and start the dryer.
If the dryer will not start, check the following:
• Washer/dryer is plugged into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
• Start button has been firmly pushed.
• Electrical supply is connected.
• Household fuse is intact and tight, or circuit breaker has
not tripped.
• Dryer door is closed.
When the dryer has been running for 5 minutes, open the
dryer door and feel for heat. Ifyou do not feel heat, turn off the
dryer and check to see whether the gas supply line shutoff
valve is open.
• Ifthe gas supply line shutoff valve is closed, open it, then
repeat the 5-minute test as outlined above.
• Ifthe gas supply line shutoff valve is open, contact a
qualified technician.

El sistema de desagOe de tubo vertical requiere de un tubo
vertical con un diametro minimo de 2" (5 cm). La capacidad
minima de desalojo no puede ser menor de 17 gal. (64 L) per
minute. Se dispone de un juego de adaptador para tubo vertical
de 2" (5 cm) a 1" (2,5 cm) de diametro. Vea "Piezas alternativas".
La parte superior del tube vertical debera estar a 39" (99 cm) de
altura cuando menos y no podra estar amas de 96" (2,4 m) desde
la base de la lavadora.

solamente, de 15 6 20 amperios y protegido con fusible. Se

JNSTRUCCIONES PARA LA CONEXI6N A TJERRA
[] Para la conexi6n de una lavadora/secadora mediante
cable electrico conectado a tierra:
Esta lavadora/secadora debe estar conectada a tierra. En el
caso de funcionamiento defectuoso o averfa, la conexi6n a
tierra reducirb, el riesgo de choque electrico al proporcionar
una vfa de menor resistencia para la corriente electrica. Esta
lavadora/secadora esta equipada con un cable que cuenta
con un conductor para la conexion a tierra del equipo y un
enchufe de conexion a tierra. El enchufe debe conectarse en
un contacto apropiado, que este debidamente instalado y
conectado a tierra de acuerdo con todos los codigos y
ordenanzas locales.
ADVERTENCJA: La conexi6n indebida del conductor
para la conexion a tierra del equipo puede ocasionar un
riesgo de choque electrico. Verifique con un electricista,
representante o personal de servicio tecnico calificado para
asegurarse de que la conexion a tierra de la lavadora/la
secadora sea apropiada. No modifique el enchufe
proporcionado con la lavadora/la secadora. Si no encaja en

Tipo de gas
Gas natural:
Esta lavadora/secadora esta equipada para use con gas natural.
Su diseSo esta certificado por la CSA Internacional para gases
LP (de propano o butano) con la conversi6n apropiada.
• Su lavadora/secadora debe tenet el quemador adecuado
para el tipo de gas que tiene en su casa. La informaci6n
respecto al quemador esta ubicada en la placa de
clasificaci6n que esta en la cavidad de la puerta de su
secadora. Siesta informaci6n no esta de acuerdo con el tipo
de gas disponible, p6ngase en contacto con el distribuidor o
Ilame a los nOmeros de telefono mencionados en la portada
de las Instrucciones para el usuario de la lavadora/secadora.
Conversibn de gas LP:
La conversi6n debera Ilevarla a cabo un t_cnico calificado.
No se debera hacer intento alguno para convertir el use del gas
especificado en la placa de clasificaci6n del modelo/de la serie
de esta maquina por el use de un gas distinto sin consultar con el
abastecedor de gas.
La linea de suministro de gas
• Debe incluir una derivaci6n tapada NPT de por Io menos _"
accesible para la conexi6n del man6metro de prueba,
inmediatamente arriba de la conexi6n de suministro de gas a
la lavadora/secadora (vea la ilustraci6n).
• Se recomienda un tubo IPS de 1/2".
• Si los c6digos locales y el proovedor de gas Io permite, es
aceptable una tuberia de aluminio o cobre aprobada de %"
para longitudes menores de 20 pies (6,1 m).
• Si usted esta usando gas natural, no use tuberia de cobre.
• Las longitudes superiores a los 20 pies (6,1 m) deberan usar
tuberias mas largas y un accesorio adaptador de tamado
distinto.
• El acoplamiento de la I[nea del suministro de gas debe set de
34" (86,4 cm) a 37" (94 cm) del piso.
• Si su lavadora/secadora ha side convertida para usar gas LID,
se puede usar tuberia de cobre compatible de LP de %". Si la
Iongitud total de la linea de suministro es mayor que 20 pies
(6,1 m), use un tubo mas largo.
NOTA: Se deben usar pegamentos para uniones de tuberias
que resistan la acci6n del gas LR No use cinta de TEFLON%
• Debe incluir una valvula de cierre:
Debe instalarse una valvula de cierre individual a una
distancia de unos seis (6) pies (1,8 m) de la secadora de
acuerdo con el C6digo Nacional de Gas combustible
(National Fuel Gas Code), ANSI Z223.1. La valvula debera
ubicarse en un lugar donde se pueda alcanzar con facilidad
para cerrarla y abrirla.

• El diser_o de esta lavadora/secadora esta certificado per CSA
Internacional para uso en altitudes que alcanzan los 10.000
pies (3.048 m) sobre el nivel del mar en la categorfa de Btu
indicada en la placa del nQmero de modelo/serie, No se
requieren ajustes de entrada del quemador cuando se usa la
secadora a esta altitud.
Elevaciones encima de los 10.000 pies (3.048 metros):
• Si se instala la lavadora/secadora a un nivel superior a los
10.000 pies (3,048 m) de altitud, se requiere una reducci6n de
categorfa de Btu del 4% del quemador, que se muestra en la

• Durante pruebas de presi6n a presiones mayores de 1/2Ib/

sistema de tuberfa del suministro de gas.

conector de gas flexible permanente, dise_ado y certificado
por CSA International, para conectarla a la linea del

El ducto de escape de la secadora no debe conectarse en ningQn
ducto de escape de gas, chimenea, pared, techo o el espacio
oculto de un edificio.
Si usa un sistema de ventilaci6n existente
• Limpie la pelusa que esta en toda la Iongitud del sistema y
asegQrese de que la capota de ventilaci6n no este obstruida
con pelusa.
• Reemplace cualquier ducto de escape de plastico o de hoja
de metal per uno de metal pesado figido o flexible.
• Vuelva a consultar el cuadro del sistema de ventilaci6n,
Modifique el sistema de ventilacidn existente si fuera
necesario para Iograr el mejor rendimiento de la secadora.

Material de ventilacibn
• Use un ducto de escape de metal pesado. No use ducto de
escape de plastico o de hoja de metal.
• Se debe usar un ducto de escape de metal pesado de
4" (10,2 cm) y abrazaderas. Los productos de ventilacidn
DURASAFE TM son recomendables,
Ducto de escape de metal pesado de 4" (10,2 crn)
Los productos de ventilaci6n DURASAFE TM pueden adquirirse
con su distribuidor o Ilamando a Whirlpool Parts and
Accessories (Piezas y accesorios de Whirlpool). Para obtener
mas informaci6n, vea la secci6n "Ayuda o servicio tecnico" en
las Instrucciones para el usuario de la secadora,

Ducto de escape de metal rigido
• Para un 6ptimo rendimiento de secado, se recomiendan
ductos de escape de metal rfgido.
• Se recomienda el ducto de escape de metal rfgido para evitar
que se aplaste o se tuerza.
Ducto de escape de metal flexible
• Los ductos de escape de metal flexible son aceptables
Qnicamente si se puede acceder a los mismos para limpiarlos.
• El ducto de escape de metal flexible debe extenderse y
sostenerse por completo cuando la secadora esta en su
ubicaci6n final.
• Quite el exceso del ducto de metal flexible para evitar que se
doble y se tuerza, Io cual podria dar lugar a una reducci6n del
flujo de aire y a un rendimiento insuficiente.
• No instale el ducto de escape de metal flexible en paredes,
techos o pisos encerrados.
Codos
Los codes de 45 ° proveen un mejor flujo de aire que los
codos de 90°.
• Una capota de ventilaci6n debe tapar el ducto de escape para
evitar el ingreso de roedores e insectos a la casa.
• La capota de ventilaci6n debe estar per Io menos a
12" (30,5 cm) de distancia del piso o de cualquier objeto que
pudiese estar en el trayecto del ducto de escape (come flores,
rocas o arbustos, Ifmite de nieve, etc).
• No use capotas de ventilaci6n con pestillos magneticos.
La ventilacibn inadecuada puede ocasionar la
acumulacion de humedad y pelusa en la casa, Io cual
puede dar como resultado:
[] Danes de humedad en la carpinteria, muebles, pintura,
empapelado, alfombras, etc.
[] Problemas en la limpieza de la casa y de salud.

Utilice abrazaderas para sellar todas las juntas.
No debe conectarse ni asegurarse el ducto de escape con
tornillos ni con ningt]n otro dispositivo que se extienda hacia
el interior de dicho ducto. No utilice cinta adhesiva para

Peligro de Peso Excesivo
Use dos o mas personas para mover e instalar
la lavadora/secadora.
No seguir esta instruccion puede ocasionar una
lesion en la espalda u otto tipo de lesiones.
Para prevenir daSos al piso, coloque la lavadora/secadora sobre
un cart6n antes de moverlo per el piso. Traslade la lavadora/
secadora cerca de su ubicaci6n final.
1. No corte el fleje amarillo. Jalelo firmemente, hasta quitarlo
completamente de la lavadora/secadora. Debe haber
2 chavetas hendidas en el extremo del fleje de embalaje.
2. Incline la lavadora/secadora hacia adelante. Mueva cada una
de las 2 patas traseras en un movimiento de arriba hacia
abajo para verificar que las patas niveladoras autoajustables
se muevan libremente. Se requiere este procedimiento para
una nivelaci6n adecuada. Baje la lavadora/secadora
cuidadosamente hasta el piso.
3. Corte el fleje de embalaje a unas 16" (40,6 cm) del extreme del
enchufe. Busque las palabras "Corte aqui" (CUT HERE).
Deshagase del extremo con las chavetas hendidas. La pieza
restante del fleje de embalaje la usara para asegurar la
manguera de desagQe.

Instale las patas niveladoras delanteras
1. Apuntale la parte frontal de la lavadora/secadora unos
4" (10,2 cm) con un bloque de madera o un objeto similar. El
bloque tiene que soportar el peso de la lavadora/secadora.
2. Atornille la tuerca de seguridad dentro de cada pata hasta
1" (2,5 cm) dentro de la base.

Atornille las patas dentro de los orificios correctos en las
esquinas frontales de la lavadora/secadora hasta que las
tuercas toquen la lavadora.
NOTA: No apriete las tuercas hasta que la lavadora/secadora
este nivelada.
4. Incline la lavadora/secadora hacia atras y quite el bloque de
madera. Baje la lavadora/secadora cuidadosamente hasta el
piso.
Para uso en casas rodantes
Las lavadoras/secadoras con secadoras a gas deben estar
ajustadas firmemente al piso.

Abra la abrazadera. Tuerza la manguera hacia atras y hacia
adelante mientras empuja sobre el conector de desagQe en el
lado de la lavadora/secadora. ContinQe hasta que la
manguera entre en contacto con los topes estriados sobre el
gabinete.
5. Coloque la abrazadera sobre el Area que tiene la marca
"Abrazadera" (CLAMP). Suelte la abrazadera.
Para el sistema de desagiie en tina de lavadero o tubo
vertical
1. AsegQresede que el molde de la mangueradedesagQeeste
en la posici6n correcta.
Las instalaciones en casas rodantes requieren un Juego para la
instalaci6n en casas rodantes. Vea la secci6n "Herramientas y
piezas" para obtener informaci6n sobre pedidos.
Para proteger sus pisos de los daSos ocasionados por las fugas
de agua, conecte correctamente la manguera de desagQe. Para
prevenir que la manguera de desagQe se salga o tenga perdidas,
se debe instalar de acuerdo alas siguientes instrucciones:
IMPORTANTE: Para una instalaci6n correcta, se debe seguir este
procedimiento con toda exactitud.
1. Inspeccione la manguera de desagQe para ver si tiene el largo
correcto.
2. Moje el interior del extremo recto de la manguera de desagQe
con agua del grifo.
IMPORTANTE: No use ningOn otro lubricante que no sea
agua.
3. Apriete con los alicates las aletas de la abrazadera plateada
de doble hilo para abrirla. Coloque la abrazadera sobre el
extremo recto de la manguera de desagQe a 1A"(6,4 mm)
del mismo.

2. Coloque el extremo de gancho de la manguera de desagQe en
la tina de lavadero otubo vertical. Gire el gancho para eliminar
torceduras.
Para evitar que el agua del desagLie vuelva a la lavadora:
• No fuerce el exceso de manguera de desagQe dentro del tubo
vertical. La manguera debe estar asegurada pero a la vez Io
suficientemente floja para que permita un espacio para el aire.
• No tienda el exceso de manguera en el fondo de la tina del
lavadero.
Para usarse con desagi_e por el piso
No instale el molde de la manguera de desagQe a la manguera de
desagQe corrugada. Quizas necesite piezas adicionales. Vea
DesagQe pot el piso en "Piezas y herramientas".
Inserte una nueva arandela plana en cada extremo de las
mangueras de entrada. Asiente firmemente las arandelas en
los acoplamientos.
