Troubleshooting
Should you encounter a problem with your
system, nd your problem in the troubleshooting
checklist below and take the indicated corrective
action. If the problem persists, contact your Sony
dealer.
Note that if service personnel changes some parts
during repair, these parts may be retained. When
bringing the system in for repairs, be sure to
bring in the entire system.

subwoofer o and on.
There is no sound.
Make sure the subwoofer is on.
Check the connections.
Press VOL +. If the volume is still low even

maximum level, adjust the volume of the
connected portable audio player (When using
the LINE IN jack).
Make sure the “Walkman” is securely
connected.
Make sure the “Walkman” is playing music.
Check that the correct function is selected.
e subwoofer is in protect mode. Turn the
subwoofer o and on.
The remote does not function.
Remove any obstacles.
Point the remote at the main unit’s sensor.
Replace the battery.
Locate the system away from uorescent lights.
There is a severe hum or noise.
Move the system away from the source of noise.
Connect the system to a dierent mains.
The sound is distorted.
Press VOL to reduce the volume.
Set the sound mode of the “Walkman” to
normal or at sound quality.

the system.
Can I use the buttons on the main unit to
operate the “Walkman”?
You can adjust only the volume using the buttons
on the main unit. Use the remote to operate the
“Walkman”.
Do I need to use the controls of the
“Walkman” to listen to music?
You can also use the remote to operate the
“Walkman”. For details about the operation of
your “Walkman”, refer to the user’s guide.

Le système est en mode protégé. Placez le
subwoofer sur arrêt, puis remettez-le sur
marche.
Il n’y a pas de son.
Assurez-vous que le subwoofer est sur marche.
Vériez les connexions.
Appuyez sur VOL +. Si le niveau du son reste
bas, même après que vous avez augmenté le
volume du système au maximum, réglez le
volume du lecteur audio portable connecté
(Lors de l’utilisation de la prise LINE IN).
Assurez-vous que le « Walkman » est
solidement connecté.
Assurez-vous que le « Walkman » lit de la
musique.
Vériez que la fonction correcte est
sélectionnée.
Le subwoofer est en mode protégé. Placez
le subwoofer sur arrêt, puis remettez-le sur
marche.

Checking Supplied Items
(See fig. )
Preparing the remote
Pull out the insulating sheet to allow power to
ow from the battery (
). e remote already
contains a battery.
To replace the battery, follow the instructions
below.
1 Slide out and remove the battery case.
2 Insert a new lithium battery with the + side
facing up.
3 Slide the battery case back in.
Note
If you do not use the remote for a long period of time,
remove the battery to avoid possible damage from
battery leakage and corrosion.
Notes on lithium battery
Keep the lithium battery out of the reach of children.
Should the battery be swallowed, immediately
consult a doctor.
Wipe the battery with a dry cloth to assure a good
contact.
Be sure to observe the correct polarity when
installing the battery.
Do not hold the battery with metallic tweezers,
otherwise a short-circuit may occur.
Tip
When the remote can no longer operate the system,
replace the battery with a new one.
WARNING
Battery may explode if you mistreated.
Do not recharge, disassemble or dispose of in re.

the system. You can place the subwoofer
anywhere on the oor.
Notes
Do not use the subwoofer for any other device.
Do not connect any other AC adaptor to the main
unit.
e system is not designed to be used as a portable
device.
Do not place the main unit directly on the
subwoofer.
You can connect portable audio players to the
system. Connect the player to the LINE IN jack
using the supplied LINE IN cable.

Adjusting the rear support
Adjust the rear support forward or back so that
the connected “Walkman” is stable (
).
(See “Specications” for compatible “Walkman”
models.)
Notes
Hold the rear support on both sides at the bottom
when adjusting the position.
Although the rear support can be detached, do not
do so. e tips of the support can cause an injury if it
is detached.
1 Turn on the power switch / on the
subwoofer.
e ON indicator on the main unit lights up.
e power is also supplied to the main unit.
Notes
When the power switch / is turned o, the AC
power shuts down.
Install this system so that the power switch / can
be turned o immediately in the event of trouble.
2 Press FUNCTION to switch the function
from LINE to the “Walkman”.
e LINE indicator turns o.
3 Select songs and start play on your
“Walkman” , and put the “Walkman” into
the main unit’s connector.
e system charges the battery of the
“Walkman” at the same time. Use the remote
or your “Walkman” to play, stop and perform
other operations.
When operating the “Walkman” while it is in
the connector, brace it with your other hand.
4 Adjust the volume using VOLUME +/
on the main unit.
Notes
When taking out or putting in the “Walkman,” keep
it straight and parallel with the rear support, as
illustrated ().
Do not carry the system with a “Walkman” set on the
connector. Doing so may cause a malfunction.
When taking out or putting in the “Walkman,” brace
the main unit with one hand and take care not to
press the controls of the “Walkman” by mistake.
e volume cannot be adjusted using the volume
control on the “Walkman” when it is connected to
the system. Press VOLUME + or on the main unit
to adjust the volume.
If the recording level of the audio data played back
on the “Walkman” is too high, sound quality settings,
such as “Equalizer,” made on the “Walkman” may
not aect the sound emitted from this system. In
this case, adjust the sound quality using this system’s
BASS +/ and TREBLE +/.
To use the system as a battery charger
Turn on the subwoofer and put the “Walkman”
into the main unit’s connector. Battery charging
starts automatically. e charging conditions
appear in the “Walkman” display. For details, see
the user’s guide of your “Walkman”.

Retirez la languette isolante an de permettre au

Pour remplacer la pile, procédez comme il est

1 Tirez le porte-pile et sortez-le.
2 Insérez une pile au lithium neuve avec la
marque + tournée vers le haut.
3 Remettez le porte-pile en place.
Remarque
Si vous prévoyez que la télécommande restera
longtemps inutilisée, retirez la pile pour éviter qu’elle ne
coule et cause des dommages ou une corrosion.
Remarques sur la pile au lithium
Gardez la pile au lithium hors de portée des enfants.
Si la pile est accidentellement avalée, consultez
immédiatement un médecin.
Essuyez la pile avec un chion sec pour assurer un
bon contact.
Veillez à ce que la polarité soit correcte lors de la
mise en place de la pile.
Ne prenez pas la pile avec des pincettes métalliques.
Ceci pourrait provoquer un court-circuit.
Conseil
Si la télécommande ne peut plus commander la chaîne,
remplacez la pile par une neuve.

1 Placez l’interrupteur d’alimentation /
du subwoofer sur marche.
Le témoin ON de l’ensemble principal
s’allume. Le courant électrique est alors
également fourni à l’ensemble principal.

Lorsque l’interrupteur d’alimentation / est sur
arrêt, l’alimentation secteur est coupée.
Installez le système de façon à pouvoir couper
immédiatement le courant à l’interrupteur
d’alimentation / en cas de problème.
2 Appuyez sur FUNCTION pour passer
de la fonction LINE à la fonction
« Walkman ».
Le témoin LINE s’éteint.
3 Sélectionnez les morceaux de
musique et lancez la lecture sur votre
« Walkman » et placez le « Walkman »
sur le connecteur de l’ensemble
principal.
Le système recharge simultanément la batterie
du « Walkman ». Utilisez la télécommande
ou le « Walkman » pour commander des
opérations telles que lecture, arrêt, etc.
Lorsque vous utilisez les commandes du
« Walkman » alors qu’il se trouve sur le
connecteur, soutenez-le de l’autre main.
4 Réglez le volume à l’aide de VOLUME
+/
de l’ensemble principal.
Remarques
Lorsque vous retirez ou mettez en place le
« Walkman », maintenez-le droit et parallèle avec le
support arrière, comme illustré ().
Ne transportez pas le système avec le « Walkman »
placé sur le connecteur. Ceci pourrait provoquer un
dysfonctionnement.
Lorsque vous retirez ou mettez en place le
« Walkman », soutenez l’ensemble principal avec une
main et faites attention de ne pas appuyer sur les
commandes du « Walkman » par inadvertance.
Il n’est pas possible de régler le volume à l’aide de la
commande de volume du « Walkman » lorsqu’il est
connecté au système. Appuyez sur VOLUME + ou
de l’ensemble principal pour régler le volume.
Si le niveau d’enregistrement des données audio
lues sur le « Walkman » est trop fort, il se peut que
le réglage des paramètres de qualité du son tels que
ceux d’« Equalizer » (égaliseur) sur le « Walkman »
soient sans eet sur le son émis par le système. Régler
alors la qualité du son à l’aide des commandes BASS
+/ et TREBLE +/ du système.
Pour utiliser le système comme chargeur de
batterie
Mettez le subwoofer sous tension et placez le
« Walkman » sur le connecteur de l’ensemble
principal. La charge de la batterie commence
automatiquement. Les conditions de charge
apparaissent sur l’achage du « Walkman ». Voir
le mode d’emploi de votre « Walkman » pour plus
d’informations.

dossier avant (ou après) le dossier spécié par
le « Walkman ».**
/* : Maintenez enfoncé pour un
retour rapide (avance rapide) ou appuyez et
relâchez pour sauter au début du morceau de
musique en cours (ou suivant).
* : Lecture/Pause (ou Lecture/Arrêt)
FUNCTION : Permet de sélectionner la
source d’entrée.
« Walkman » LINE (Le témoin LINE
s’allume.)
SURROUND : Permet d’activer et désactiver
l’eet de son surround.
DÉSACTIVÉ ACTIVÉ (Le témoin
SURROUND s’allume.)
VOL +/
: Permet de régler le volume.
(20 niveaux)
BASS +/
: Permet de régler des graves.
(± 3 niveaux)
TREBLE +/
: Permet de régler les aiguës.
(± 3 niveaux)
EQ OFF : Permet de réinitialiser les graves et
les aiguës.
* Il est possible que ces commandes ne fonctionnent
pas ou fonctionnent diéremment selon les
spécications du « Walkman ».
** Voir le mode d’emploi de votre « Walkman » pour la
méthode de spécication de dossier.
Pour écouter la musique d’un lecteur audio
portable
Sélectionnez la fonction LINE à l’étape 2, puis
lancez la lecture sur votre lecteur audio portable.
Le témoin LINE s’allume.
Remarque
Les touches
de la télécommande ne fonctionnent
pas pour des lecteurs audio portables autres que les
modèles de « Walkman » compatibles avec ce système.
