Notes on maintenance
Wipe off the cash drawer with a damp cloth when needed.Never use sol-
vents, since these corrode the plastic.

KA14 Base Cash Drawer
General
The KA14 Base Cash Drawer is designed as a base drawer for installation
in a checkout desk or under the POS system. It can be connected directly
to the cash drawer interface provided on the POS 2000/10 and BEETLE
systems. The drawer opens out toward the front and can be supplied with
or without a check slot.

The width of the bank note compartments is variable, allowing them to be
adjusted to different bank note sizes (currencies).Altogether the KA14
Base Cash Drawer has 8 large coin compartments (or 7 in the version
with a check compartment), 4 compartments for bank notes and 3 com-
partments for checks, bank notes, documents or coin rolls. General
The cash drawer is available with three different locking options:
Without lock
This drawer cannot be opened mechanically with a key.
With lock and key for opening cash drawer (unlatchable)
With lock and key for locking cash drawer only
Furthermore, the base cash drawer is available in two versions:
Without check slot (standard)
With check slot (special)
Checks can be placed in the check compartment by inserting them
through the check slot, without opening the drawer.

Mounting the Cash Drawer
The cash drawer can be mounted on the checkout desk by means of two
M4 bolts. The length of the bolts must correspond to the thickness of the
desk plus max. 10 mm, but no less than 8 mm, for the bottom of the cash
drawer.The bore size must be 6 mm.

Opening the cash drawer
Generally speaking, the opening of the cash drawer is triggered by the
software.If this ever becomes impossible, e.g.due to a power failure, there
are two options for opening the drawer manually and gaining access to the
cash box:

Using a small
screwdriver, move
the IN/OUT plate to
the left.
Open the plate.
Two black sliding
switches are now ex-
posed. Move one of
the two sliding swit-
ches to the left to
open the cash dra-
wer.
Press the plate in until it snaps into place, making sure that the mounting
screws are aligned with the notches in the plate.

wer, insert a small
screwdriver from be-
low in the hole in the
center of the metal
plate. Move the
screwdriver sidways
to open the drawer.

Pull the drawer out
all the way to the
stops, lift it over the
stops and remove it.
Spring pins are loca-
ted on the right- and
left-hand sides inside
thecashdrawerhou-
sing.
Pull the spring over
the spring pin careful-
ly because it is only
loosely hung in the
back.
Remove the spring
pin and insert it in the
desired opening.
Carefully place the
end of the spring on
spring pin.

The money tray
The Money Tray
The money tray comprises two units.The front unit is for coins and bank
notes and the rear unit is for storing coin rolls, checks or over-ring receipts.
In the case of a money tray with a check compartment, the two units are
bolted together.

Lockable covers are available for both variants - money tray with check
compartment and money tray without check compartment. Either a short
or long cover can be used, depending on the money tray.
Using the money compartments
The drawer can be pulled out to the first (soft) stop.The coin and bank
note compartments are now accessible.When the drawer is pulled out to
the second stop, the rear compartment can be accessed in order to store
any larger bank note denominations or checks.
The individual compartments can be adjusted to different bank note sizes
by moving the dividers.

Removing the money tray from the housing.
In order to remove
themoneytrayfrom
the housing, first sli-
de it to the end of the
drawer.
Hold the cover with
one hand and pull up
on the money tray
with the other.
Replace the money drawer by following the steps above in reverse order.
Make sure that the tray is pushed under the edge of the front cover or the
drawer will not close!

Connection System
The base cash drawer is connected directly to the cash drawer interface
provided on POS 2000/10 and BEETLE systems.The base cash drawer
connecting cable plugs into a 7-pin circular jack at the cash-drawer end
and a 6-pin mini-DIN jack at the BEETLE system.The cable for connecting
the base cash drawer to the POS 2000/10 system plugs into a 7-pin circu-
lar jack at each end. Power (12/24 V) is also supplied via this cable.
