Novojunta® 2
Novojunta® 2 is a solution for expansion joints made by coextrusion
of PVC. The combination of both materials, rigid and exible, is
perfect to absorb expansions and contractions in tiled oorings
and walls, avoiding the apparition of possible pathologies. Ideal to
be installed outdoors or indoors in all kind of projects. It has been
specially designed to be installed with high thickness oorings such
as marble, terrazzo, etc.

AIMPLAS
Novojunta® 2 is a solution for expansion joints whose main function is absorbing expansions and
contractions in tiled oorings or walls to avoid the apparition of pathologies. It can be installed vertically
or horizontally both in oorings as in walls.

Materials
PVC
Novojunta® 2 is a prole made by coextrusion of PVC-P (rigid PVC) and PVC-U (exible PVC). PVC-U
allow the prole to absorb expansion and contraction movements from oor and wall tiling where is
installed and PVC-P is suitable, due to its rigidity, to the support of the tile.
El PVC (polyvinyl chloride), is a polar amorphous thermoplastic polymer highly resistant to abrasion,
corrosion and a wide range of chemical products. Has a good resistance to impact, low water absorption,
low electrical conductivity and is dimensionally stable.
Recommendations of installation
Emac®, in his awareness for the correct execution of the ceramic systems, took part in the committee
for the elaboration of the UNE 138002: 2017 standard “General rules for the execution of ceramic tile
systems by adhesion”. In that UNE standard the recommendations of installation for expansion joints
were dened as follow:
Installation Separation distance / Area
Joint width
(mm)
Linear expansion joints
Outdoor walls
Each 3 - 4 ml max.
Regular areas max. 16 m
2
>= 8 mm
Outdoor oors
Each 2,5 - 5 ml max.
Regular areas max. 16 m

Indoor oors
Respect open contraction joints
Each 8 ml maximum
Regular areas max. 40 m
2
>= 5 mm
Singular points
Door treshold
Floor changes
>= 8 mm
Perimeter expansion joints
Indoor walls

Wall / Ceiling
Wall / Wall
>= 5 mm
>= 8 mm
Outdoor walls Indoor / outdoor edges
>=8 mm
Indoor oors Perimeter joints and encounters with elements
Outdoor oors Perimeter joints and encounters with elements
Singular points Encounter joints with joinery >= 5 mm
These recommendations are the minimum dimensions to take into account. The particularities of
each project could make necessary to place the joints at less distance. The expansion joints should
be planned since the project phase. The correct design and dimensionement of the expansion joints,
together with an adequate choice of materials and a correct installation execution, will help to pre-
vent from the apparition of pathologies.

1. Spread a big amount of gripping material on the surface where the pavement will be installed.
2. Then, place the prole and press it to allow the gripping material pass through the mechanized holes
on the xing wing.
3. Place a tile on the xing wing of the prole and press to an optimal contact with the gripping material.
4. Repeat the previous step placing tiles along the prole until the installation is nished.
5. Before curing, tap with a rubber hammer to align the prole with the pavement.
6. Finally clean the remaining material and let dry.
* If you planned polishing the soil, install the prole slightly below the tile to avoid possible damages.

Cleaning and maintenance
You can daily clean the prole with water and common detergents. The correct use of bleach, does not
affect it. It is resistant to the most common acids except in concentrated status.
It is not recommended the use of organic solvents such as acetate, acetone or toluene.
Thanks to its high resistance to many of the chemical products, the PVC products are ideal to be
installed in industries with saline environment, oils, etc.
