Thank you for purchasing a KRUPS kettle. Read the instructions that apply

to most of our models carefully and keep them at hand.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

n Always read the instructions before first use and keep them handy

for future reference.

n Only use the kettle to heat water. Never heat other liquids in the kettle.

n Only plug the kettle into a grounded power outlet. Check that the

voltage on the rating plate of the appliance corresponds to that of

your electrical installation.

n Keep the kettle and its power cord away from any source of heat,

from any wet or slippery surface and away from sharp angles.

n Your kettle should only be used with its lid locked, with the base and

the anti-scale filter supplied.

n Never immerse the kettle, its base or the power cord and plug in

water or any other liquid.

n Never use the appliance in a bathroom or close to a water source.

n Never use the kettle when your hands or feet are wet.

n Never place the kettle or its base on a hot surface such as a hotplate

or use it near an open flame.

n Place the kettle and its power cord well to the back of the work

surface.

n Always unplug the power cord immediately if you observe any

anomaly during operation.

n Never pull on the power cord to remove it from the wall outlet.

n Never leave the power cord hanging from a table top or kitchen

counter to avoid any danger of it falling to the floor.

n Always remain vigilant when the appliance is on, and in particular be

careful of the steam coming out of the spout which is very hot.

n Also be careful as the body of stainless steel kettles becomes very

hot during operation. Only touch the handle of the kettle.

n Never leave your hand or the power cord on the hot parts of the

appliance.

n Never leave the kettle connected to its base during filling, pouring,

cleaning or moving.

n Always use the filter during heating cycles.

n Never touch the filter or the lid when the water is boiling.

n Never open the lid when the water is boiling.

n Never move the kettle when it is in operation.

n Protect the appliance from damp and freezing.

n Never use the kettle if the power cord or the plug are damaged. To

avoid any danger, always have them replaced by an authorized

KRUPS After Sales Service Center.

n If your appliance has been damaged or if it is not working properly,

do not use it and never attempt to disassemble it. We recommend

that you have the appliance inspected. Any work required on the

appliance, except for cleaning and de-scaling according to the

instructions for use must be performed by a KRUPS After Sales

Service Center.

n The warranty covers manufacturing defects and residential use only.

Any breakage or damage resulting from a failure to comply with

these instructions for use is not covered by the warranty.

n Any supply connection error will void the warranty.

n The warranty does not cover kettles that fail to operate or operate

badly due to a failure to perform de-scaling operations.

n Unplug the appliance if you intend to not use it for an extended

period or during cleaning operations.

n Never use scouring pads for cleaning purposes.

n To remove the anti-scale filter, remove the kettle from its base and

allow it to cool down. Never remove the filter when the appliance is

filled with hot water.

n Never use any de-scaling method other than the one recommended.

n All appliances are subject to strict quality control procedures. These

include actual usage tests on randomly selected appliances, which

would explain any traces of use.

n This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including

children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or

lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given

supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a

person responsible for their safety.

n Keep the appliance out of reach of children.

n Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with

the appliance.

n Never heat the kettle when it is empty.

n Never fill the kettle past the maximum water level mark, nor below the

minimum water level mark. If the kettle is too full, some water may

spray out.

n Your appliance is designed for residential use only.

contact your respective country’s Consumer Service department. To reduce

the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to disassemble the machine.

Repair should be done by an authorized Krups Service Center only.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS

A. A short power cord or a detachable power cord is provided to reduce

the risks of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord acci-

dentally.

B. Longer detachable power cords or extension cords are available and may

be used if care is exercised in their use.

C. If a long detachable power cord or an extension cord is used:

1) the marked electrical rating of the detachable power cord or extension

cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the ap-

pliance.

2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be

a grounding type 3-wire cord.

3) the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the coun-

ter where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.

The appliance may have a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).

To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polari-

zed outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse

the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt

to modify the plug in anyway.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

n Remove all packaging and accessories both inside and outside the

kettle.

n Adjust the length of the power cord by coiling the excess under the

base. The powercord should extend from the base through the slot in the

back. (fig. 1)

n Rinse the inside of the kettle and the limescale filter (located in the

spout) several times. Boil 2 or 3 kettles of water and discard to remove

all manufacturing residues and dust.

n Wipe the outside of the kettle and the base with a clean damp cloth. To

avoid damage to the electronics, avoid exposing the base of the kettle

or the bottom of the kettle to excess water.

USING YOUR KETTLE

1) Place the kettle base on a stable, clean surface away

from heat sources.

n The kettle, kettle base, and limescale filter are specifically designed to be

used together and other accessories not designed for use with the kettle

should not be used.

2) To open the lid:

n Press the button on the handle (fig. 2)

3) Fill the kettle with the desired amount of water (fig. 3).

n Lift the kettle off the base, then fill with water. Never use without water

or fill with liquids other than water. When filling the kettle, take care to

not expose the electrical connections at the bottom of the kettle to

water. The kettle cannot be immersed in water.

n Fill through the spout by pressing the trigger button on the handle to flip

the spout cover open. Do not fill the kettle beyond the maximum level, or

below the minimum level marked on the water level indicator. If the kettle

is overfilled, boiling water may splash outside of the kettle. The kettle

does not need to be filled to the maximum level if less water is desired.

The amount of scale that develops depends on the hardness of your

water and how frequently the kettle is used. Descale regularly, preferably

at least once a month, more often if your water is very hard.

n Always close the lid and spout cover once the kettle is filled.

4. Plug in the kettle, then place the kettle on its base.

5. To turn the kettle on and begin boiling, press the

ON/OFF button located at the bottom of the kettle

under the handle. (fig. 4)

6. The kettle may have an internal light, depending on

model

. The kettle will automatically switch off and the

indicator light will go out once water boils.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

DO NOT LEAVE WATER IN THE KETTLE AFTER USE.

EMPTY THE KETTLE AFTER EACH USE TO REDUCE

ACCUMULATION OF LIMESCALE DEPOSITS.

To clean the kettle and base

n Always unplug the base and allow the kettle to cool before cleaning.

n Avoid exposing the base or the bottom of the kettle to excess water. To

protect against risk of electrical shock, do not immerse the base in water

or any other liquid, or place under running water to clean. Wipe clean

with a damp sponge and a small amount of gentle dishwashing liquid if

necessary. Never clean with harsh or abrasive cleaners or sponges. Dry

all parts carefully before next use.

To clean the limescale filter (fig. 5)

n Always unplug the base and allow the kettle to cool before cleaning.

n The limescale filter is a removable mesh filter in the spout of the kettle.

This filter does not treat or remove the scale from the water, it traps the

scale particles from being poured out.

n With very hard water, the filter may need to be cleaned as often as 10-

15 uses. If the filter is wet, run under lukewarm water to remove

particles. If filter is dry, brush gently to remove particles. To avoid

damaging the mesh, do not scrub the filter.

n To remove excessive scale, descale as described below.

DESCALING

n For best performance, descale regularly. The amount of scale that

develops depends on the hardness of your water and how frequently the

kettle is used. Descale regularly, preferably at least once a month, more

often if your water is very hard. Keep in mind that you may have to

descale more often than indicated based on your water.

To descale your kettle or filter:

n Always unplug the base and allow the kettle to cool before cleaning.

n Use plain white vinegar at room temperature. When descaling the kettle,

fill with 2 cups of white vinegar and leave for one hour without heating.

For the filter, remove the filter from the spout, and soak with 1 cup of

white vinegar for one hour in a small cup or bowl.

n Rinse kettle and filter very well with room temperature water multiple

times until completely clean. Repeat if necessary and allow to dry before

next use.

TROUBLESHOOTING

IF YOUR KETTLE SHOWS NO SIGN OF DAMAGE

n When you place the kettle on the base, no beep sounds and the display

remains off.

- Check that the kettle is placed flat on the base and that the base is

plugged in.

- Unplug the base, wait a few minutes, and plug in again. If there is still

no beep or no display, consult your nearest KRUPS After Sales Service

Center.

n The beep sounds continuously for 5 seconds.

- The kettle has been used without water or there is an excess of limes-

cale, triggering the safety override.

- If the kettle was used without water: leave the kettle to cool for a few

minutes and allow the safety override to reset. Fill the kettle with water

and turn on, the kettle will begin to operate after the safety override has

reset (approx 15 minutes).

- In case of excess limescale, descale the kettle according to the instruc-

tions in the DESCALING section.

n The water has a plastic taste:

- This usually happens when the kettle is brand new. Discard the water

you boil the first few times. If the problem persists, fill the kettle up and

add two teaspoons of baking soda. Boil the water and discard it. Rinse

the kettle.

IF YOUR KETTLE HAS FALLEN, IF IT IS LEAKING, OR IF THE

POWER CORD, PLUG OR BASE ARE VISIBLY DAMAGED

n Consult the nearest KRUPS After Sales Service Center and the

warranty included at the end of these instructions.

n Do not use the kettle. No attempt should be made to disassemble the

product or override the safety devices. If the power cord is damaged, it

must be replaced by the manufacturer, a KRUPS After Sales Service

Center, or any person with similar qualifications.

DISPOSING OF YOUR APPLIANCE

Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be

recycled. Consult your local waste collection center for

correct disposal procedure and recycling options.

The Warranty

This product is guaranteed by Krups for a period of 2 years against any manufacturing

defect in materials or workmanship, starting from the initial date of purchase.

The manufacturer's warranty by Krups is an extra benefit which does not affect consu-

mer's Statutory Rights.

The Krups warranty covers all costs related to restoring the proven defective product

so that it conforms to its original specifications, through the repair or replacement of

any defective part and the necessary labor. A replacement product may be provided

instead of repairing a defective product. Krups’s sole obligation and your exclusive re-

solution under this warranty are limited to such repair or replacement.

Conditions & Exclusions

The Krups warranty only applies within USA, Canada & Mexico, and is valid only on pre-

sentation of a proof of purchase. The product can be taken directly in person to an au-

thorized service centre or must be adequately packaged and returned, by

recorded delivery (or equivalent method of postage), to a Krups authorized service cen-

tre. Full address details for each country’s authorized service centre are listed on the

Krups website (www.krups.com

) or by calling the appropriate telephone number listed

below to request the appropriate postal address.

Krups shall not be obliged to repair or replace any product which is not accompanied

by a valid proof of purchase.

This warranty will not cover any damage which could occur as a result of misuse, negli-

gence, failure to follow Krups instructions, use on current or voltage other than as stam-

ped on the product, or a modification or unauthorized repair of the product. It also does

not cover normal tear and wear, maintenance or replacement of consumable parts, and

the following:

- using the wrong type of water

- scaling (any de-scaling must be carried out according to the instructions for

use);

- ingress of water, dust or insects into the product;

- mechanical damages, overloading

- damages or bad results due to wrong voltage or frequency

- accidents including fire, flood, lightning, etc

- professional or commercial use

- damage to any glass or porcelain ware in the product

This warranty does not apply to any product that has been tampered with, or to damages

incurred through improper use and care, faulty packaging by the owner or mishandling

by any carrier.

The Krups manufacturer's warranty applies only for products purchased and used in USA,

Canada & Mexico. Where a product purchased in one country and then used in another

one:

a) The Krups guarantee duration is the one in the country of usage of the pro-

duct, even if the product was purchased in another listed country with diffe-

rent guarantee duration.

b) The Krups guarantee does not apply in case of non conformity of the pur-

chased product with the local standards, such as voltage, frequency, power

plugs, or other local technical specifications.

c) The repair process for products purchased outside the country of use may

require a longer time if the product is not locally sold by Krups

d) In cases where the product is not repairable in the new country, the Krups

guarantee is limited to a replacement by a similar product or an alternative

product at similar cost, where possible.

Consumer Statutory Rights

This Krups manufacturer's warranty does not affect the statutory rights a consumer may

have or those rights that cannot be excluded or limited, nor rights against the retailer from

which the consumer purchased the product. This warranty gives a consumer specific

legal rights, and the consumer may also have other legal rights which vary from State to

State or Country to Country or Province to Province. The consumer may assert any such

rights at his sole discretion.

CONSEILS DE SÉCURITÉ

Lire le mode d'emploi au complet avant la première utilisation et les

garder à portée de main pour références futures.

n Utiliser la bouilloire uniquement pour chauffer de l’eau. Ne jamais

chauffer d’autres liquides dans la bouilloire.

n Brancher la bouilloire uniquement dans une prise murale mise à la

terre. Vérifier que la tension électrique indiquée sur la plaque de

l’appareil correspond à celle de votre installation électrique.

n Garder la bouilloire et le cordon éloignés de toute source de chaleur,

de surfaces glissantes et d’angles vifs.

n La bouilloire doit être utilisée seulement lorsque le couvercle est

verrouillé, avec la base et le filtre fournis avec l’appareil.

n Ne jamais immerger la bouilloire, sa base, le cordon ou la fiche dans

l’eau ou dans tout autre liquide.

n Ne jamais utiliser l’appareil dans une salle de bain ou à proximité

d’une source d’eau.

n Ne jamais utiliser la bouilloire avec les pieds ou les mains mouillés.

n Ne jamais placer la bouilloire ou sa base sur une surface chaude

comme une plaque chauffante, ni l’utiliser à proximité d’une flamme

nue.

n Placer la bouilloire et son cordon d’alimentation au fond du plan de

travail.

n Toujours débrancher l’appareil immédiatement si une anomalie est

constatée en cours de fonctionnement.

n Ne jamais tirer sur le cordon pour débrancher de la prise murale.

n Ne jamais laisser le cordon pendre d’une table ou d’un comptoir

pour éviter que l’appareil ne tombe.

n Toujours être vigilent lorsque l’appareil est en fonctionnement; faire

particulièrement attention à la vapeur qui s’échappe du bec car elle

est très chaude.

n Faire très attention au corps de la bouilloire car l’acier inoxydable

devient très chaud pendant son fonctionnement.

n Manipuler toujours la bouilloire par la poignée.

n Ne jamais laisser la main ou le cordon entrer en contact avec les

surfaces chaudes de l’appareil.

n Ne jamais laisser la bouilloire branchée au moment de la remplir, de

servir, de la nettoyer ou de la déplacer.

n Toujours utiliser le filtre pendant les cycles de chauffe.

n Ne jamais toucher le filtre ou le couvercle lorsque l’eau boue.

n Ne jamais ouvrir le couvercle lorsque l’eau boue.

n Ne jamais déplacer la bouilloire pendant qu’elle fonctionne.

n Toujours protéger l’appareil de l’humidité et du gel.

n Ne pas utiliser l'appareil si le cordon ou la prise a été endommagé

de quelque manière que ce soit.

n Pour éviter tout risque, faire remplacer la partie endommagée dans

un centre de service autorisé KRUPS.

n Si l’appareil a été endommagé ou s’il ne fonctionne pas

correctement, ne pas l’utiliser et ne jamais tenter de le démonter. Il

est recommandé de le faire inspecter. Toute opération autre que le

nettoyage et le détartrage effectués en conformité avec les

instructions doit être faite par le personnel d’un centre de service

agréé KRUPS.

n La garantie couvre les défauts de fabrication et l’utilisation

domestique seulement. Tout bris ou dommage résultant d’un non

respect de ces instructions d’utilisation annule la garantie.

n Toute erreur de branchement annule la garantie.

n La garantie ne couvre pas les bouilloires qui ne fonctionnent pas ou

fonctionnent mal par absence de détartrage.

n Débrancher la bouilloire s’il n’est pas prévu de l’utiliser pendant un

certain temps et pendant les opérations de nettoyage.

n Ne jamais utiliser de tampons abrasifs pour nettoyer l’appareil.

n Pour enlever le filtre antitartre, retirer la bouilloire de sa base et la

laisser refroidir. Ne jamais retirer le filtre s’il y a encore de l’eau

chaude dans l’appareil.

n Ne jamais utiliser d’autres méthodes de détartrage que celle

recommandée.

n Tous les appareils sont soumis à un contrôle strict de la qualité. Cela

inclut des tests au hasard sur certains appareils, ce qui pourrait

expliquer d’éventuelles traces d’utilisation.

INSTRUCTIONS

POUR LE CORDON COURT

A. Un cordon d'alimentation court ou amovible court est fourni avec l'appa-

reil afin de réduire le risque qu’il ne s’emmêle ou qu’il ne fasse trébucher

quelqu’un.

B. Des cordons d'alimentation plus longs ou des rallonges électriques sont

disponibles et peuvent être utilisés en prenant des précautions.

C. Si un cordon amovible plus long ou une rallonge est utilisé :

1) le calibre de la rallonge doit être au minimum le même que celui de

l'appareil,

2) si l'appareil est mis à la terre, la rallonge doit être mise à la terre et

comporter 3 fiches, et

3) le cordon d'alimentation ou la rallonge doit être disposé de telle façon

qu'il ne pende pas du bord du plan de travail ou de la table afin que

les enfants ne puissent tirer dessus ou qu’il ne fasse trébucher

quelqu’un.

Votre appareil est équipé d’une prise polarisée (une lame est plus large que

l’autre). Cela a pour but de réduire les risques de chocs électriques. Cette

fiche ne peut se brancher que dans un sens. Si la fiche ne rentre pas correc-

AVANT LA PREMIÈRE UTILISATION

n Enlevez tous les emballages, autocollants ou accessoires divers à

l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur de la bouilloire.

n Réglez la longueur du cordon en l’enroulant sous le socle. Coincez le

cordon dans l’encoche. (fig 1)

n Rincez l’intérieur de la bouilloire et le filtre antitartre (situé dans le bec)

plusieurs fois. Faites bouillir 2 ou 3 bouilloires d’eau, puis jetez l’eau pour

éliminer tous les résidus de fabrication et la poussière.

n Essuyez l’extérieur de la bouilloire et la base à l’aide d’un linge humide.

Pour éviter d’endommager les composantes électroniques, évitez

d’exposer la base de la bouilloire et le dessous de la bouilloire à de

grandes quantités d’eau.

UTILISATION

1) Placez la base de la bouilloire sur une surface stable

et propre, loin des sources de chaleur.

n La bouilloire, la base et le filtre sont spécialement conçus pour être

utilisés ensemble ; les autres accessoires non conçus pour être utilisés

avec cette bouilloire ne doivent pas l’être.

2) Pour ouvrir le couvercle :

n Appuyez sur le bouton situé sur la poignée. (fig. 2)

3) Remplissez la bouilloire avec la quantité d’eau

désirée.

n Soulevez la bouilloire de la base, puis remplissez-la. N’utilisez jamais la

bouilloire sans eau ni avec d’autres liquides. Au moment de remplir la

bouilloire, évitez d’exposer les connections électriques sous la bouilloire

à l’eau. La bouilloire ne doit pas être immergée.

n Remplissez la bouilloire par le bec en appuyant sur la gâchette de la

poignée pour ouvrir le couvercle. Ne remplissez pas la bouilloire au-delà

du niveau maximal ni en-dessous du niveau minimal de l’indicateur de

niveau d’eau. Si la bouilloire est trop remplie, de l’eau peur s’éjecter de

la bouilloire. Il n’est pas nécessaire de remplir la bouilloire si vous désirez

une plus petite quantité d’eau. La quantité de tartre qui s’accumule

dépend de la dureté de votre eau mais aussi de la fréquence d’utilisation

de la bouilloire. Détartrez régulièrement, préférablement une fois par

mois ou plus souvent si votre eau est très dure.

n Fermez toujours le couvercle une fois la bouilloire remplie.

4. Branchez la bouilloire et positionnez-la sur sa base.

5. Pour mettre la bouilloire en marche et faire bouillir de

l’eau, appuyez sur le bouton marche/arrêt situé au bas

de la bouilloire, sous la poignée.

6. La bouilloire peut être munie d’un rétro-éclairage,

selon le modèle.

7. La bouilloire s’arrête automatiquement et le voyant

lumineux s’éteint lorsque l’eau boue.

NETTOYAGE ET ENTRETIEN

NE LAISSEZ PAS L’EAU DANS LA BOUILLOIRE APRÈS

UTILISATION. VIDEZ LA BOUILLOIRE APRÈS CHAQUE

UTILISATION POUR RÉDUIRE L’ACCUMULATION DE

TARTRE.

Pour nettoyer votre bouilloire et sa base :

n Débranchez toujours la base et laissez la bouilloire refroidir avant de la

nettoyer.

n Évitez d’exposer la base ou le dessous de la bouilloire à une grande

quantité d’eau. Pour éviter un risque de choc électrique, n’immerger pas

la base dans l’eau ou dans tout autre liquide et ne la placez pas sous

l’eau courante. Essuyez-la avec un linge ou une éponge humide et un

peu de savon à vaisselle doux au besoin. N’utilisez jamais de produits ou

de tampons forts ou abrasifs. Séchez toutes les composantes

soigneusement avant la prochaine utilisation.

Pour nettoyer le filtre antitartre (fig 5) :

n Débranchez toujours la base et laissez la bouilloire refroidir avant de la

nettoyer.

n Le filtre antitartre est constitué d’un grillage amovible situé dans le bec

de la bouilloire. Il ne traite pas et ne supprime pas la dureté de l’eau,

mais retient les particules de tartre au moment de verser.

n Avec de l’eau très dure, le filtre peut nécessiter un nettoyage plus

fréquent, toutes les 10 à 15 utilisations. S’il est humide, passez-le sous

l’eau tiède pour enlever les particules. S’il est sec, brossez-le doucement

sans trop frotter de peur de l’endommager.

n Pour enlever un excès de tartre, procédez à un détartrage tel que décrit

ci-dessous.

DÉTARTRAGE

n Pour un meilleur rendement, détartrez régulièrement. La quantité de

tartre qui s’accumule dépend de la dureté de votre eau mais aussi de la

fréquence d’utilisation de la bouilloire. Détartrez régulièrement,

préférablement une fois par mois ou plus souvent si votre eau est très

dure. N’oubliez pas qu’il est possible de devoir détartrer plus souvent

selon la dureté de votre eau.

Pour détartrer votre bouilloire ou votre filtre :

n Débranchez toujours la base et laissez la bouilloire refroidir avant de la

nettoyer.

n Utilisez du vinaigre blanc à température ambiante. Pour détartrer la

bouilloire, versez 2 tasses de vinaigre blanc et laissez agir pendant une

heure sans chauffer. Pour le filtre, retirez-le du bec et déposez-le dans

1 tasse de vinaigre blanc pendant une heure.

n Rincez votre bouilloire et votre filtre à fond avec de l’eau à température

ambiante, plusieurs fois, jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient entièrement propres.

Répétez au besoin et laissez sécher avant la prochaine utilisation.

EN CAS DE PROBLÈME

SI VOTRE BOUILLOIRE N’A PAS DE DOMMAGE APPARENT.

n Lorsque vous posez la bouilloire sur la base, aucun son n’est émis et

l’affichage reste éteint.

- Vérifiez que votre bouilloire est bien placée sur sa base et que cette

dernière est bien branchée.

- Débranchez la base, attendez quelques minutes et rebranchez-la. S’il

n’y a toujours aucun son d’émis ni d’affichage, consultez un centre de

service agréé Krups.
