WARNING: Never use charcoal that has been pre-treated with lighter fluid. Use only a high grade plain charcoal or charcoal wood
mixture. Follow all manufacturer’s warnings and instructions regarding the use of their product.
NOTE: To extend the life of your grill, make sure that hot coals and wood do not touch the walls of the grill.
IF USING CHARCOAL CHIMNEY STARTER, PROCEED TO STEP 4
If you choose to use charcoal lighting fluid, ONLY use charcoal lighting fluid approved for lighting charcoal. DO NOT use gasoline, kerosene,
alcohol or other flammable materials for lighting charcoal.
1. Start with 2.5 pounds of charcoal. Place the charcoal in centre of the charcoal grate.
2. Remove the lid and saturate the charcoal with lighting fluid. Wait 2 to 3 minutes to allow the lighting fluid to soak into charcoal. Store
the charcoal lighting fluid safely away from the grill.
3. Stand back and carefully light the charcoal with a lighting match and allow to burn uncovered.
WARNING: Charcoal lighting fluid must be allowed to completely burn o prior to closing the grill lid (approximately 20 minutes).
Failure to do this could trap fumes from the charcoal lighting fluid in the grill and may result in a flash fire or explosion when lid is
opened.
4. Place the cooking grill on the grill support lips.
5. Place food on the cooking grill and close the grill lid. By closing the front air ventilation, the burning intensity is slowed. Always use a
meat thermometer to ensure food is fully cooked before removing from the grill.
6. Allow the grill to cool completely, then follow the instructions in the “Proper Care and Maintenance” section of this manual.
Add charcoal/wood during cooking
Additional charcoal/wood may be required to maintain or increase cooking temperature.
1. Stand back and carefully open the grill lid. Use caution since flames can flare up when fresh air suddenly comes into contact with fire.
WARNING: Wear protective gloves or oven mitts when removing the cooking grill.
2. Stand back a safe distance and use long cooking tongs to lightly brush aside ashes on the hot coals. Use cooking tongs to add charcoal or
wood to the charcoal grate, being careful not to stir up ashes and sparks. If necessary, use your charcoal chimney starter to light additional
charcoal or wood and add to the existing fire.
WARNING: Never add charcoal lighting fluid to hot or even warm coals as flashback may occur causing severe burns.
3. When the charcoal is burning strongly again, wear oven mitts/gloves and carefully return the cooking grill onto the grill support lips.

Proper Care and MaintanenceOrdering Replacement Parts
CLEANING
1. To protect your grill from excessive rust, the unit must be properly cleaned and covered at all times when not in use.
2. Wash the cooking grill and charcoal grate with hot, soapy water, rinse well and dry.
3. Clean the inside and outside of grill by wiping o with a damp cloth. Apply a light coat of vegetable oil or vegetable oil spray to the interior
surface to prevent rusting. Do not coat the charcoal tray or the charcoal ash tray.
4. If rust appears on the exterior surface of your grill, clean and bu the aected area with steel wool or fine grit emery cloth, Touch up with a
good quality, temperature-resistant paint.
5. Never apply paint to the interior surface. Rust spots on the interior surface can be bued, cleaned, then lightly coated with vegetable oil or
vegetable oil spray to minimize rusting.
6. For proper air flow and better grilling, remove accumulated ashes and old charcoal from the bottom of the kettle and the ash catcher before
use. Make sure that all of the charcoal is fully extinguished and the grill is cool before doing so.
7. You may notice “paint like” flakes on the inside of the lid. During use, grease and smoke vapours slowly oxidize into carbon and deposit on the
inside of your lid. Brush the carbonized grease on the inside of the lid with a stainless steel bristle grill brush. To minimize further build-up, the
inside of the lid can be wiped with a paper towel after cooking while the grill is still warm (not hot).
8. If your grill is subject to a particularly harsh environment, you will need to clean the outside more often. Acid rain, chemicals and salt water can
cause surface rusting to appear. It is recommended to wipe down the outside of your grill with warm soapy water. Follow up with a rinse and
thorough drying.
9. Do not use sharp objects or abrasive cleaners to clean the surfaces of your grill.
