1 To assure the finest performance, please read this manual carefully. Keep it in a safe place for

future reference.

2 Install this sound system in a well ventilated, cool, dry, clean place - away from direct sunlight,

heat sources, vibration, dust, moisture, and/or cold. For proper ventilation, allow the following

minimum clearances (excludes a TV placed on top of this unit).

service is needed. The cabinet should never be opened for any reasons.

15 When not planning to use this unit for long periods of time (i.e. vacation), disconnect the AC power

plug from the wall outlet.

16 Be sure to refer to the “Troubleshooting” section of the Owner’s Manual on the CD-ROM for

common operating errors before concluding that this unit is faulty.

17 Before moving this unit, press A to set it to standby mode and disconnect the AC power plug from

the wall outlet.

18 Condensation will form when the surrounding temperature changes suddenly. Disconnect the

power cable from the outlet, then leave this unit alone.

19 When using this unit for a long time, this unit may become warm. Turn the power off, then leave

this unit alone for cooling.

20 Install this unit near the AC outlet and where the AC power plug can be reached easily.

21 The batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like. When you

dispose of batteries, follow your regional regulations.

22 Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss.

23 Keep the product out of reach of children to avoid them swallowing small parts.

This unit is not disconnected from the AC power source as long as it is connected to the wall

outlet, even if this unit itself is turned off by A. This state is called the standby mode. In this

state, this unit is designed to consume a very small quantity of power.

■ Notes on remote controls and batteries

• Do not spill water or other liquids on the remote control.

• Do not drop the remote control.

• Do not leave or store the remote control in the following conditions:

– places of high humidity, such as near a bath

– places of high temperatures, such as near a heater or stove

– places of extremely low temperatures

– dusty places

• Insert the battery according to the polarity markings (+ and -).

• Change all batteries if you notice the following conditions:

– the operation range of the remote control narrows

• If the batteries run out, immediately remove them from the remote control to prevent an explosion or

acid leak.

• If you find leaking batteries, discard the batteries immediately, taking care not to touch the leaked

material. If the leaked material comes into contact with your skin or gets into your eyes or mouth,

rinse it away immediately and consult a doctor. Clean the battery compartment thoroughly before

installing new batteries.

• Do not use old batteries together with new ones. This may shorten the life of the new batteries or

cause old batteries to leak.

• Do not use different types of batteries (such as alkaline and manganese batteries) together. Danger of

explosion may happen if batteries are incorrectly replaced. Specification of batteries may be different

even though they look the same.

• Before inserting new batteries, wipe the compartment clean.

• Keep batteries away from children. If a battery is accidentally swallowed, contact your doctor

immediately.

• When not planning to use the remote control for long periods of time, remove the batteries from the

remote control.

• Do not charge or disassemble the supplied batteries.

Place the unit on a flat surface, such as the top of a TV stand, and then place the TV on top of the unit. When installing this unit on a rack behind which there is limited space, for

example, it may be easier to connect external devices to this unit first. See page 8 for information regarding the connection of external devices.

Notes

• Be sure to install this unit on a large, stable stand where it does not fall subject to vibrations, such as from an earthquake, and where it is out of the reach of children.

• Do not raise the antenna until after the TV is placed on top of the unit. The antenna, the unit, the TV, and any other devices in the near vicinity may be damaged if the TV snags the antenna when it is placed on top of the

unit. Take all necessary precautions to prevent this from happening as it may lead to unexpected injury.

• The unit’s speakers are not magnetically shielded. Do not install hard disk drives or similar devices near the unit.

• Do not stack the unit directly on top of other playback devices, or vice versa. Heat and vibrations may result in damage or malfunction.

• Never fix the unit to a wall or other surface using a fall prevention device, such as wire or bracket, supplied with the TV. Doing so may cause the unit fall together with the TV if an accident such as an earthquake occurs.

Read the instruction manual of your TV carefully and fix the TV to a wall or sturdy object following the instruction.

Recommended place for installation

CRT TVs cannot be placed on the unit.

If the TV base is too large to fit on top of the unit, place the

unit in another location such as on an open shelf. In that

case, make sure that the shelf is well-ventilated with enough

clearance around the unit to prevent the heat from

accumulating inside the unit.

Do not install the unit near a corner

of the room.

• TVs that can be placed on the unit are flat-screen TVs that

weigh no more than 40 kg (88.1 lbs), have bases no wider

than 750 mm (29-1/2") and no deeper than 340 mm (13-3/8"),

and have screens no larger than 55 inches.*

• Place the TV so that its base does not protrude from the

unit’s edges. *

• The listening position (such as sofa, etc.)

should be located at the front of the unit.

• The distance between the listening position

and the unit should be more than 2 m (6.6 ft).

To achieve the optimal surround sound

effects, be sure that obstacles such as

furniture may not obstruct the path of

sound beams (p. 7).

❑ Unit installation position and surround sound effects

The unit achieves surround sound by reflecting sound beams off walls.

Effective surround effect may not be achieved in the following environment.

• Sound beams are blocked by obstacles such as furniture.

• The room size is not within the following dimensions;

Width: 3 meters to 7 meters (9.8 ft to 23 ft)

Depth: 3 meters to 7 meters (9.8 ft to 23 ft)

Height: 2 meters to 3.5 meters (6.6 ft to 11.5 ft)

• Listening position is too close to the unit.

• The unit is installed too close to the left or right wall.

• The unit is installed in the corner of the room.

• There is no wall for reflecting sound beam on the path of the sound beams.

• The optimum surround sound effect is achieved by setting a position according to the installation position of

the unit. For details, refer to “c Surround sound effect for the installation position” (p. 10).

Raising the antenna

Raise the antenna on the rear panel of the unit when connecting a wireless router

(access point) to use a network.

• Do not apply excessive force on the antenna. Doing so may damage it.

• Be sure to check the direction in which the antenna moves, and angle it in the proper direction.

• Do not remove the antenna.

• For details on the wireless connection, refer to page 31 in the Owner’s Manual.

• This unit supports HDCP version 2.2, a copy protection technology.

To enjoy playback of 4K video, connect the unit to the HDMI IN jack

(one compatible with HDCP 2.2) on an HDCP 2.2-compliant TV.

Audio Return Channel (ARC) supported TV

• Connect an HDMI cable to the audio return channel supported jack (the

jack with “ARC” indicated) on TV.

• Enable the HDMI control function of this unit to activate the Audio Return

Channel (ARC). See page 50 in the Owner’s Manual.

What is Audio Return Channel (ARC)?

• A function transmits digital audio signal output from TV to this unit through

an HDMI cable. By this function, an optical cable to connect TV and this unit

is not needed.

For a wired network connection, connect one end of the

network cable to the NETWORK jack on the rear panel of the

unit and the other end to a router. For details, see page 30 in

the Owner’s Manual.

Turning on the unit

Press the z key.

When the unit is turned on for the first time after purchase,

the indicator on the front panel will flash slowly. The

screen below will be displayed on the TV when the TV is

turned on.

• When the screen is not displayed, use the input button on the TV’s remote control

to switch input so that video input from this unit is displayed. When this unit is

connected to the TV as shown on page 8, select “HDMI 1”.

• The language used for menu display (OSD Language) can be selected from the

screen shown above. Use the W/X key to select the language, and follow the

on-screen instructions. The OSD language can also be changed from the setup

menu at any time. Press and hold the SETUP key until the “OSD Language” menu

is displayed on the TV, and use the S/T key to select the language. Press the

SETUP key to exit the setup menu.

While this screen is displayed, an iOS device (such as an iPhone)

can be used to easily connect the unit to a wireless network. Follow

the procedure “Connecting the unit to a wireless network” on this

page.

If you will not use an iOS device to connect to a wireless network,

press the RETURN key and proceed to “c Surround sound effect

for the installation position”.

• This screen will not be displayed and the indicator will not flash if the unit is

connected to a router via its NETWORK jack (wired connection).

• See page 30 in the Owner’s Manual for wireless network connection methods

other than “Share Wi-Fi Settings”, or for more information regarding wired and

wireless networks.

Press the ENTER key.

The screen below is displayed.

• You need iOS device with iOS 7.1 or later.

• Before proceeding, confirm that your iOS device is connected to a wireless

router (access point).

Press the ENTER key.

Display the Wi-Fi setup screen on the iOS device

and select the unit from “SETUP A NEW AIRPLAY

SPEAKER...”.

Select the network (access point) of which you want to share the

settings with the unit.

• You can use this function to connect to a wireless network at any time by selecting “Share Wi-Fi Settings

(iOS)” from the setup menu. However, be aware that if a different wireless network, or a Bluetooth device,

has already been configured, doing so will erase any previous settings.

The surround sound is achieved by reflecting the sound beams off walls as shown in

the illustration below. For optimum surround effect, turn on the unit and select the

POSITION key according to the installation position of the unit.

Hold down the POSITION key that corresponds to the installation

position of the unit for more than 3 seconds.

The indicators on the front panel flash according to the set position.

Select the desired TV channel.

Press the TV key.

• When audio is output from the TV speaker, set TV’s audio output to any option

other than TV. See the instructions manual of TV for more information.

• HDMI control function

You can use the TV remote control to operate this unit if your TV supports the

HDMI control function. See page 19 in the Owner’s Manual.

Playing a DVD or BD

The following explains the playback procedure when this unit is

connected to the TV and BD/DVD player as shown in “Connecting

a TV and BD/DVD player” (p. 8).

Turn on the TV and BD/DVD player connected to this

unit.

Press the HDMI key to select the BD/DVD player as

the input source.

Use the TV’s remote control to switch the TV’s input

to HDMI 1.

Play back a DVD or BD on the BD/DVD player.

Press the VOL (+/-) key to adjust the volume.

When the volume is adjusted, indicators on the front panel

indicate volume level.

Press one of the surround mode keys according to

your preferences.

See page 22 in the Owner’s Manual for details.

When this unit does not play back, check the following

• The unit and BD/DVD player are connected correctly.

• The audio output settings of the BD/DVD player is set to digital sound output

(bitstream).

• The TV’s input is switched to this unit.

■ Observaciones sobre los mandos a distancia y las pilas

Coloque la unidad sobre una superficie plana, como un soporte para televisor, y luego coloque el televisor encima de la unidad. Por ejemplo, al instalar esta unidad en una

estantería con un espacio limitado en su parte posterior, puede resultar más fácil para conectar dispositivos externos por primera vez a esta unidad. Consulte la página 8 para

obtener información sobre cómo conectar los dispositivos externos.

Notas

• Asegúrese de instalar esta unidad sobre un soporte grande y estable, donde no se caiga debido a vibraciones, por ejemplo en caso de terremoto, y en donde no puedan alcanzarlo los niños.

• No eleve la antena hasta que haya colocado el televisor encima de la unidad. La antena, la unidad, el televisor y cualquier otro dispositivo cercano pueden dañarse si el televisor se engancha con la antena al colocarlo

encima de la unidad. Tome todas las precauciones necesarias para evitar que esto suceda, ya que podría provocar daños.

• Los altavoces de la unidad no están protegidos magnéticamente. No instale unidades de disco duro o dispositivos parecidos cerca de la unidad.

• No apile la unidad directamente en la parte superior de otros dispositivos de reproducción, o al revés. El calor y las vibraciones pueden originar daños o un mal funcionamiento.

• No fije la unidad a una pared u otra superficie con un dispositivo anticaídas suministrado con el televisor, como un alambre o un soporte para montaje. Podría hacer caer la unidad junto con el televisor si se produce un

accidente como un terremoto. Lea atentamente el manual de instrucciones de su televisor y fije el televisor a una pared o un objeto firme siguiendo las instrucciones.

Lugar recomendado para la instalación

Los televisores CRT no pueden colocarse encima de la unidad.

Si la base del televisor es demasiado grande para caber

encima de la unidad, sitúe la unidad en otro lugar, como un

estante abierto. En ese caso, asegúrese de que el estante esté

bien ventilado, con suficiente espacio libre alrededor de la

unidad para evitar que se acumule calor en su interior.

No instale la unidad cerca de un

rincón de la habitación.

• Los televisores que pueden colocarse encima de la unidad son

televisores de pantalla plana que no pesen más de 40 kg, con

una anchura máxima de 750 mm y una profundidad máxima de

340 mm, y con pantallas de no más de 55 pulgadas.*

• Coloque el televisor de forma que su base no sobresalga de

los bordes de la unidad. *

• La posición de escucha (como el sofá) debe

quedar frente a la parte frontal de la unidad.

• La distancia entre la posición de escucha y

la unidad no debe superar los 2 m.

Para lograr unos efectos de sonido envolvente

óptimos, asegúrese de que no haya

obstáculos, como por ejemplo muebles, que

puedan obstruir el recorrido de los haces de

sonido (p. 7).

❑ Posición de instalación de la unidad y efectos de sonido envolvente

La unidad logra un sonido envolvente reflejando los haces de sonido en las paredes.

En el siguiente entorno puede no lograrse un efecto de sonido envolvente adecuado.

• Los haces de sonido se ven bloqueados por obstáculos como por ejemplo muebles.

• Las dimensiones de la habitación no se encuentran dentro de los límites siguientes:

Anchura: de 3 a 7 metros

Profundidad: de 3 a 7 metros

Altura: de 2 a 3,5 metros

• La posición de escucha está demasiado cerca de la unidad.

• La unidad está instalada demasiado cerca de la pared izquierda o derecha.

• La unidad está instalada en una esquina de la habitación.

• No hay pared en el camino del haz de sonido para reflejarlo.

• Para lograr un efecto de sonido envolvente óptimo es necesario seleccionar un modo de posición

adecuado a la posición de instalación de la unidad. Para obtener más información, consulte “c Efecto de

sonido envolvente para la posición de instalación” (p. 10).

Elevación de la antena

Eleve la antena del panel trasero de la unidad al conectar un enrutador inalámbrico

(punto de acceso) para usar una red.

• No emplee demasiada fuerza en la antena, ya que podría dañarla.

• Compruebe en qué dirección se mueve la antena y dóblela en la dirección adecuada.

• No retire la antena.

• Para obtener más información sobre la conexión inalámbrica, consulte la página 31 del Manual de

Instrucciones.

• Esta unidad admite HDCP versión 2.2, una tecnología de protección

contra copias. Para reproducir vídeo 4K, conecte la unidad a la toma

HDMI IN (compatible con HDCP 2.2) en un televisor que admita

HDCP 2.2.

A una toma de pared de CA

TV compatible con la función ARC (Canal de retorno de audio)

• Conecte un cable HDMI a la toma compatible con canal de retorno de

audio (toma indicada con ARC) en el TV.

• Active la función de control HDMI de esta unidad para activar el canal de

retorno de audio (ARC). Consulte la página 50 del Manual de

Instrucciones.

¿Qué es el canal de retorno de audio (ARC)?

• Una función transmite la señal de salida de audio digital del TV a esta

unidad mediante un cable HDMI. Con esta función, no es necesario

disponer de cable óptico para conectar el TV.

Para usar una conexión de red alámbrica, conecte un

extremo del cable de red a la toma NETWORK del panel

trasero de la unidad y el otro extremo a un enrutador. Para

obtener más información, consulte la página 30 del Manual

de Instrucciones.

Encender la unidad

Pulse el botón z.

Cuando la unidad se enciende por primera vez tras su

adquisición, el indicador del panel frontal parpadea

lentamente. Al encender el televisor se muestra la pantalla

de abajo.

• Si no se muestra la pantalla, utilice el botón de entrada del mando a distancia del

televisor para cambiar la entrada de modo que se muestre la entrada de vídeo de

la unidad. Cuando esta unidad y el televisor estén conectados como se muestra

en la página 8, seleccione “HDMI 1”.

• El idioma de los menús (Idioma de OSD) puede seleccionarse en la pantalla de

arriba. Use el botón W/X para seleccionar el idioma y siga las instrucciones en

pantalla. El idioma de OSD también puede cambiarse desde el menú de

configuración en cualquier momento. Mantenga pulsado el botón SETUP hasta

que en el televisor aparezca el menú “OSD Language”, y utilice el botón S/T

para seleccionar el idioma. Pulse el botón SETUP para salir del menú de

configuración.

Cuando se muestra esta pantalla, se puede usar un dispositivo iOS

(como un iPhone) para conectar de forma sencilla la unidad a una

red inalámbrica. Siga el procedimiento “Conexión de la unidad a

una red inalámbrica” descrito en esta página.

Si no va a utilizar un dispositivo iOS para conectarse a una red

inalámbrica, pulse el botón RETURN y vaya a “c Efecto de sonido

envolvente para la posición de instalación”.

• Esta pantalla no aparecerá y el indicador no parpadeará si la unidad se

conecta a un enrutador mediante la toma NETWORK (conexión alámbrica).

• Consulta la página 30 del Manual de Instrucciones para ver métodos de conexión

de red inalámbrica distintos de “Compartir conf. Wi-Fi”, o para obtener más

información sobre redes alámbricas e inalámbricas.

Pulse el botón ENTER.

Se muestra la pantalla de abajo.

• Se requiere un dispositivo iOS con iOS 7.1 o posterior.

• Antes de continuar, compruebe que su dispositivo iOS esté conectado a un

enrutador inalámbrico (punto de acceso).

Pulse el botón ENTER.

Visualice la pantalla de configuración de Wi-Fi en el

dispositivo iOS y seleccione la unidad de “SETUP A

NEW AIRPLAY SPEAKER...”.

Seleccione la red (punto de acceso) de la que desea compartir la

configuración con la unidad.

• Puede usar esta función para conectarse a una red inalámbrica en cualquier momento seleccionando

“Compartir conf. Wi-Fi (iOS)” en el menú de configuración. Sin embargo, tenga en cuenta que, en el caso

de que ya exista otra red inalámbrica u otro dispositivo Bluetooth configurados, se borrará la configuración

anterior.

El sonido envolvente se logra reflejando los haces de sonido en las paredes tal y como

se muestra en la ilustración de abajo. Para lograr un efecto de sonido envolvente

óptimo, encienda la unidad y seleccione el botón POSITION que corresponda a la

posición de instalación de la unidad.

Mantenga pulsado el botón POSITION que corresponda a la posición

de instalación de la unidad durante más de 3 segundos.

Los indicadores del panel frontal parpadearán según la posición ajustada.
