STEP 9 Understand the Green System
The G862 elliptical trainer is designed for use in a power production system
called the Green System. For more information about this system, please
refer to the inverter and boost converter installation manuals. Instructions
below pertain to installation of the boost converter. One boost converter
must be connected to each Green System fitness product.
15

STEP 11 Connect Boost Converters
Before assembling components, make sure that the power supplies on
the fitness products and the boost converters are in the off position. First,
remove the protective cover from the boost converter (A11). Insert the boost
converter connector cord (A12), and secure it into place. On the last fitness
product in a series of products, only remove the protective cover where a
cable will be connected. On the unconnected side, leave the protective cover
in place.
17
STEP 12 Establish the Number of Products per Pod
Upon setup, the number of fitness products per pod must be entered into the
memory of each product. If this is not done properly, the inverter might get
overloaded and its fuse might break. The procedure to establish the number
of fitness products per pod is explained below.
First, some background information:
A group of tness products connected to one inverter is called a pod.
The number of tness products per pod determines the maximum power
output per unit.
One inverter can process up to 2000 watts of power. For a maximum of
Green System tness products, please contact your local distributor.
In general, the fewer tness products per pod, the higher the power out-
put limit per unit. However, since the maximum power output is capped at
250 watts per unit, tness products in pods with eight or fewer units have a
maximum output of 250 watts per product.
For pods with eight or more units, the maximum output per product is
calculated by a formula: Divide 2000 (maximum watts produced by one
Green System) by the number of tness products in the pod. For example,
for a ten-unit pod, calculate 2000/10=200. The maximum power output of
each unit in the 10-unit pod would be 200 watts. (This is the factory default
setting.) The power output limit of a product is calculated automatically once
the number of units in the pod has been established.
At setup, follow the procedure below to enter into each fitness product the
number of units in the pod.
1. Simultaneously press and hold WORKOUT LEVEL WORKOUT
LEVEL CHANGE DISPLAY keys for two seconds. This will activate
the units-per-pod setting mode.
2. The message screen will show “PASSWORD-0000”. The passcode,
8250, must be entered before the number of units in the pod can be entered.
Follow instructions below to enter the passcode.
a. Use numeric keys 0 through 9 to enter the first digit of the four-digit
passcode 8250. After inputting the first digit, 8, press the key to confirm
your choice.
b. Then input the next number, 2, followed by the key. Proceed in this
fashion until all four digits of the passcode have been entered. If necessary,
press the key to return to a preceding entry. Then press the correct
numerical key. After inputting a number, always press the ▼ key to confirm
your choice.
c. After the four-digit passcode has been entered correctly, the product will
automatically enter the units-per-pod setting mode.
18
STEP 12 Establish the Number of Units per Pod (Cont.)
The previous (or default) number of units per pod will appear in the setting
value screen, and the following message will appear in the dot matrix screen:
“ENTER NUMBER OF CARDIO PRODUCTS CONNECTED”.
a. Press /▼ keys or numeric keys (0 through 9) to input the number of
products in the pod.
b. If desired, press the CLEAR key to reset all values to zero.
c. After the correct number of units in the pod has been entered, press the
ENTER key to commit the number to the product memory. After the ENTER
key has been pressed, the unit-per-pod setting mode will end.
d. If desired, press the STOP key at any time to exit this mode and maintain
the previous setting.
At this point, the Green System is ready for use.
STEP 13 Install the CES, if Desired
The G862 elliptical trainer can operate with the CardioActive™ Entertainment
System, an integrated TV module. If desired, install the integrated TV module
after the elliptical trainer is fully assembled. For more information, please
refer to installation instructions for the CardioActive Entertainment System.
19
STEP 14 Avoid Safety Hazards
While the product is in use, or during maintenance or repair work, be careful
to avoid getting pinched by or wedged against moving parts. In particular,
do not insert fingers or other body parts into the stride adjustment area or
the opening in the front covers. Prevent injuries to yourself and others by
employing safe practices at all times.
