1G) Pewer supp|y
Connect JawSaw to correct voltage, that is, be
sure that the voltage supplied is the same as
that specified on the nameplate of the tool.
17) WARNING:To minimize the risk of eye
injury, always use eye protection.
_ ARN|NG: KICKBACK may occur
when the nose ortip of the guide bar
touches an object, or when the wood closes
in and pinches the saw chain in the cut.Tip
contact in some cases may cause a lightning
fast reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up
and back towards the operator. Pinching the
saw chain along the top of the guide bar may
push the guide bar rapidly back towards the
operator. Either of these reactions may cause
you to lose control of the saw which could
result in serious injury to user. The following
precautions should be followed to minimize
kickback.
(1) Grip saw firmly. Hold the JawSaw firmly
with both hands when the motor is
running. Use a firm grip with thumbs and
fingers encircling the JawSaw handles.
(2) Do not over reach.
(3) Keep proper footing and balance at all
times.
(4) Don't let the nose of the guide bar contact
a log, branch, ground or other obstruction.
(5) Use devices such as low kickback chain,
guide bar nose guards, chain brakes and
special guide bars that reduce the risks
associated with kickback.
(6) Only use replacement bars and chains
specified by the manufacturer or the
equivalent.
ELECTR|CAL SAFETY
1. Power tool plugs must match the outlet.
Never modify the plug in anyway.
Unmodified and matching plugs greatly
reduce the risk of electric shock.
2. Ground Fault Interrupter (GFIC) protection
should be provided on the circuits
or outlets to be used for the outdoor
appliance.
3. Use the extension cord to be a type
acceptable for outdoor use, for example
- SJTW, and the size should be 18AWG
or larger. An undersized cord will cause
a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of
power and overheating. Make sure the
extension cord is in good condition before
using; and keep the cord away from the
cutting area and to position cord so that
it will not be caught on branches, and the
like, during cutting.
4. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord
for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the
power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil,
sharp edges, or moving parts. Damaged
or entangled cords increase the risk of
electrical shock.
5. Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch
is in the off position before plugging in.
6. Disconnect JawSaw when not in use,
before servicing, and when changing
accessories and attachments, such as
guards and saw chain.
7. E_ensien cerd. wMake sure your
extension cord is in good condition. When
using an extension cord, be sure to use
one heavy enough to carry the current your
product will draw. An undersized extension
cord will cause a drop in line voltage
resulting in loss of power and overheating.
Table 1 shows the correct size to use
depending on cord length and nameplate
ampere rating. If in doubt, use the next
heavier gage. The smaller the gage number,
the heavier the cord.To reduce the risk of
disconnection of appliance cord from the
extension cord during operating:
i) Make a knot as shown in Figure 1; or
ii) Use one of the plug-receptacle retaining
straps or connectors described in this
manual.

sections starting at the farthest end from
the tree.
* Always check where the branch will fall
BEFORE commencing the cut.
* Never stand under a branch being cut.
* Never cut two branches at once.
2. Will the branch split before it is cut
through? (See Fig.R1,R2.)
* To prevent splitting, use the JawSaw
inverted, make a small cut (less than 1/3
diameter of the limb) from the underside.
* Then turn the JawSaw over to the
normal position and cut from top down,
slightly further out from the trunk than the
initial undercut.
3. Isthe branch undertension, will itspring
suddenly or trap the saw when it is cut?

KICKBACKSAFETY
This saws chain is covered by a guard
however, kickback can still occur.The
following steps will reduce the risk of kickback
* Use both hands to grip saw while saw
is running. Use firm grip.Thumbs and
fingers must wrap around saw handles.
* Keep all safety items in place on saw.
Make sure they work properly.
* Do not overreach.
* Keep solid footing and balance at all
times.
* Stand slightly to right side of saw. This
keeps your body from being in direct line
with chain.
* Do not let guide bar nose touch anything
when chain is moving.
* Never try cutting through two logs at
same time. Only cut one log at a time.
* Do not bury guide bar nose or try plunge
cut (boring into wood using guide bar
nose).
* Watch for shifting of wood or other forces
that may pinch chain.
* Use extreme caution when reentering a
previous cut.
* Never use a dull or loose chain. Keep
chain sharp with proper tension.
GENE_L BEHAVIOR
Use the JawSaw only with secure footing.
Hold the JawSaw at the right-hand side of
your body. (See Fig. S)
The chain must be running at full speed
before it makes contact with the wood. Use
the metal jaw teeth to secure the saw onto the
wood before starting to cut. (See Fig.T)
Do not operate the JawSaw with arms fully
extended or attempt to saw areas which are
difficult to reach, or on a ladder. (See Fig. U)
CUTTING WOOD UNDER TENSION (See
Fig. V)
_ ARNING: _en cutting a Jimh
that is under tension, use extreme
caution, lie aJert for wood springing
hack. When wood tension is reJeased,
the limb couW spring hack and strike
operator causing severe injury or death.
When sawing Jogs supported on both ends,
start the cut from above(Y) about 1/3 of the
diameter into the Jog and then finish the cut
(Z) from below, in order to avoid contact of
the JawSaw with the ground. When sawing
logs supported on only one end, start the cut
from below (Y) about 1/3 of the diameter into
the log and finish the cut from above (Z) in
order to avoid log splitting or jamming ofthe
tool.
L|MIIING A TREE {See Fig. W)
Limbing is removing the branches from a
fallen tree. When limbing leave larger lower
limbs to support the log offthe ground.
Remove the small limbs in one cut as
illustrated. Branches under tension should be
cut from the bottom up to avoid binding the
JawSaw.
lille#KING A LOG (See Fig. X)
Bucking is cutting a log into lengths. It is
important to make sure your footing is firm
and your weight is evenly distributed on both
feet. Follow the simple directions for easy
cutting.
_ WARNING:
* If on slope, make sure log will not roll
down hill. Secure log by using wooden
stakes. Drive wooden stakes into ground
on downhill side of log. Stand on uphill
side of log while cutting. Log may roll
after cutting. (See Fig.Y)
* Never try cutting through two logs at
same time. This could increase the risk of
kickback.

Replace chain when cutters are too worn
to sharpen or when chain breaks. Only use
replacement chain noted in this manual.
Always include new drive sprocket when
replacing chain.This will maintain proper
driving of chain. Inspect guide bar before
sharpening chain. A worn or damaged guide
bar is unsafe. Aworn or damaged guide bar
will damage chain, it will also make cutting
harder.
To Replace the bar, remove the mounting plate
(a), which is retained by a single screw.
To fit to the new bar, fit the mounting plate
(a) into the new bar by tightening the screw
clockwise. The projecting tab (f) must be fitted
through the bar slots outwards. (See Fig.
