NOTE:
If desired, you can dry the unit out by placing the
float retainer clip into the top portion of the center slot in
the back to cause the motor to run continuously. Remem-
ber to replace the float back to the lower position when
returning the unit to normal service.
Wick Replacement (Use HDC411 Super Wick)
1. When it’s time to replace the wick, allow the humidifi
er
to run dry, so water level will be low.
2. Lift o the chassis to gain access to the wick assemblies.
3. Release the tabs holding the top wick housings to
the front wick plates to access and remove the wick
sections.
4. Install t
wo pieces of a new HDC411 Super Wick into
each wick assembly.
5. Reassemble the wick assemblies and replace the
chassis.
General Cleaning:
Re
commended Cleaning fluids:
• Household bleach for general disinfecting (used for
cleaning only).
• White vinegar to remove scale.
NOTE: Regular use of an EPA approved Bacteriostat, such as
Essick Air Part No. 1970 added to the water reservoir helps
keep the interior of the unit from growing mildew or mold.
NOTE: Before cleaning, we recommend moving the humidifi-
er to an area where water will not cause damage, such as the
kitchen or bathroom.
1. Separate the upper wick housings from wick plates and
set the wicks in a sink or basin to drain. Dispose of and
replace wicks, as necessary.
2. Remove the float and float retainer ring from the cabinet.
3. Half fill the reservoir in the bottom of the cabinet with
clean, cool water and add 8 ounces (1 cup) of white vin-
egar. Place the components (float, float retainer loop,
wick plates and top housings) in the reservoir and allow
the solution sit for 20 minutes.
4. Take a soft cloth dampened with white vinegar and
wipe down the interior of cabinet, and the components.
Drain the cleaning solution from the reservoir. Thor-
oughly rinse out the reservoir.
5. Rinse and wipe down each component before rein-
stalling
.
6. Prepare unit for use by following the assembly
instructions on pages 6 and 7, or proceed to the
Disinfecting Unit instructions below, if desired

Performance Tips
• Wicks should be replaced
at least once each sea-
son, after every 30 to 60
days.
• In areas with hard water,
replace wick more often.
• Use Essick Air Bacteriostat
(Product 1970) to reduce
bacteria, mold, mildew and
mineral buildup. Follow
directions on the bottle.
