Do not use without filters in place.
Do not allow hair, loose clothing, fingers or body
parts to get near openings or floor brush in the
appliance.
Do not pick up hot coals, cigarette butts,
matches or any hot, smoking, or burning
objects.
Do not pick up hard or sharp objects such as glass,
nails, screws, coins, etc.
Do not pick up flammable or combustible materials
(lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or use in
the presence of explosive liquids or vapor.
Do not unplug by pulling on cord.
Do not pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach,
ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.).
Do not use in an enclosed space filled with
vapors given off by oil base paint, paint thinner,
some moth proofing substances, flammable dust,
or other explosive or toxic vapors.
Do not use for any purpose other than
described in this User’s Guide.
Always turn off this appliance before connecting
or disconnecting vacuum hose.
Use only manufacturer’s recommended
attachments.
Use only on dry, indoor surfaces.
Keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, etc.
Keep appliance on a level surface.
Turn off all controls before plugging or
unplugging cleaner.
Be extra careful when cleaning stairs.
Close attention is necessary when used by or
near children.

1. Insert flexible hose by inserting it into
the suction opening on the canister. To
disconnect press the release buttons and
pull the hose connector out of the hose
connection opening.
2. Connect telescoping extension wand to
the handle end of the flex hose.
3. Connect floor nozzle to the end of the
telescoping extension wand.
4. Once assembled, you can store your
vacuum in one of two positions:
A. Storing in the in-use position:
To store with the floor nozzle
attached, insert the storage clip
(located on the back of the floor
nozzle) into the storage slot on the
rear of the vacuum.
B. Storing in the upright position:
To store with the floor nozzle attached,
stand the vacuum in the upright
position and insert the storage clip
(located on the back of the floor
nozzle) into the storage slot on the
bottom of the vacuum.

Power cord
The power cord is located at the rear of the
vacuum. Gently pull out the power cord,
watching for the yellow line. Stop pulling the
power cord once the yellow line is visible.
There is also a red line, which indicates
the end of the usable cord. Do not pull the
power cord out beyond the red line.
Automatic cord rewind
Your vacuum is equipped with an automatic
cord rewind. When cleaning is finished,
press the power button OFF (
) and
grasp the plug to disconnect from the
electrical outlet. Hold the plug and press the
automatic cord rewind button to rewind the
cord automatically.

Turn the power on or off by pressing lightly
downward on the power button (
).
Thermal motor protection
An internal thermal protector has been
designed into your cleaner to protect it from
overheating. When the thermal protector
activates, the main vacuum motor will
stop operating. If this happens, proceed as
follows:
1. Turn the cleaner OFF and unplug from
electrical outlet.
2. Check the cleaner for the source of
overheating problem (ie. Full dirt cup,dirty
filters or clog).
3. Fix the problem by following the steps in
the maintenance section of the user guide.
4. When the motor cools for approximately
30 minutes, the thermal protector will
reset and cleaning may continue. If the
cleaner will not turn on or the thermal
protector continues to activate, your
cleaner may need servicing. Call BISSELL
Consumer Care or visit the website.

Special tools
Your BISSELL canister vacuum is not only a
powerful carpet and rug vacuum cleaner, it’s
also a versatile bare floor vacuum cleaner and
above floor vacuum cleaner when you select
one of the special tools.
Floor nozzle:
Use to vacuum carpets, rugs and bare floors.
Swivel head turns to get into tight spaces
and fits under cabinets.
1. To vacuum carpets and rugs, push the brush
switch to the carpet position . This
will pull the brushes up into the floor nozzle.
2. To vacuum bare floors, push the brush
switch to the bare floor position .
This will extend the brushes down from the
floor nozzle.
Upholstery tool:
Use the upholstery tool to clean curtains,
draperies, cushions and fabrics.
Dusting brush attachment:
Attach the dusting brush attachment to the
upholstery tool to dust furniture, blinds, books,
lamps, shelves and baseboards.
Crevice tool:
Use the crevice tool in tight, narrow spaces.
Accessory clip:
You can store three accessories in the
accessory clip at the same time. Store
accessories in the accessory clip by pushing
them into the clip while turning a little.

Tip:

low furniture, check
area first for objects
that might harm the
unit or block the hose.
Tip:
Hair, string and small objects
can block the hose and tools.

Variable suction power control
The variable suction power control is located
on the top of the vacuum. Turn the control
to the right for maximum suction. Turn the
control to the left to minimize suction for
lightly soiled areas or delicate fabrics.
Clean Filter indicator
The clean filter indicator is located on the top
of the dirt container. It will turn RED when
the dirt container needs to be emptied or the
filters need cleaning

Emptying the dirt container
1. Turn vacuum OFF (
). Unplug the vacuum
from electrical outlet.
2. Press the dirt container release button and
lift out of the vacuum by its handle.
3. Remove the dirt container lid by lifting up on
the tab above the filter.
4. Empty the dirt into a garbage container.
5. Replace lid onto dirt container by inserting
the 2 tabs into the lip on front of the
container and snapping the back into place.
6. Place the dirt container back into the
vacuum until it snaps into place

The pre-motor filters protect the motor from dirt
and dust particles and are washable.
1. Turn vacuum OFF (
). Unplug the vacu-
um from electrical outlet.
2. Press the dirt container release button and
lift out by its handle.
3. Using your thumb, pull out on the black
tab on the top of the pleated filter frame
to release washable PLEATED and FOAM
filters.
4. Remove the foam filter and gently wash
using warm water. Allow to completely dry
before replacing. Hold the white pleated
filter under hot slow running tap water at an
angle to allow the water to wash away the
dirt from inside the pleats. Turn the filter over
to wash the other side and repeat until the
filter is clean. Carefully shake the water from
the surface of the pleated filter and allow it
to dry completely before replacing.
Never clean the pleated filter with a
brush.
5. Replace filters by placing the foam filter
into the back of the filter frame. Insert
bottom of frame first into the opening and
push shut to catch onto the spring loaded
tab.
6. Place the dirt container back into the
vacuum until it snaps into place.
NOTICE:
This product is intended for household use
only and not for commercial or industrial
use. Vacuuming of dust from products
like plaster, concrete or ashes will damage
the motor and void the warranty.
Tip:
For maximum cleaning performance,
check the filters often and clean or
replace if necessary.

The post-motor filter assists in the filtration
process to return clean air to the room.
1. Turn vacuum OFF (
). Unplug the vacuum
from electrical outlet.
2. Remove the filter door (located on the back of
the vacuum) by pushing on the tab on the filter
door and pull out toward you.
3. Remove the post-motor filter by grasping the lip
of the filter frame and pulling out toward you.
Check for dust and debris and replace if dirty
4. Replace the filter door by inserting the two tabs
on the side of the filter door into the slots of the
vacuum door opening and pushing into place.
Be sure the tab on the outside of the filter door
snaps into place.

1. Insérez le tuyau souple dans l'ouverture
d'aspiration de l'aspirateur. Pour
débrancher, pressez les boutons de
relâchement et retirez le raccord du tuyau
de l'ouverture de la connexion du tuyau.
2. Branchez le tuyau extensible à l'extrémité
du tuyau souple du côté du manche.
3. Branchez la buse pour plancher à
l'extrémité du tuyau extensible.
4. Une fois qu'il est assemblé, vous pouvez
ranger votre aspirateur dans deux
positions.
A. Rangement en position d'utilisation :
Pour ranger l'appareil avec la buse
pour plancher fixée dessus, insérez
le support de rangement (situé à
l'arrière de la buse) dans la fente de
rangement à l'arrière de l'aspirateur.
B. Rangement en position verticale :
Pour ranger l'appareil avec la buse
pour plancher fixée dessus, mettez
l'appareil en position verticale et
insérez le support de rangement (situé
à l'arrière de la buse) dans la fente de
rangement au bas de l'aspirateur.
