The prime advantage of V-Drums, compared to acoustic drums, is that with the push of a button

you can change the sounds to adapt to absolutely any and every style of music. The TD-9 has 522

sounds set up in 50 kits. And sound editing is possible. Start out by switching kits to experience

the wide variety of sonic possibilities.

2. Use the [+/-] buttons or turn the

[VALUE] knob to select dierent

kits.

stick” function, press the

[F3] button to turn it on

(“XSTICK”).

1. Press the [KIT] button.

The [KIT] button lights up and the “DRUM KIT” name

appears in the display.

an incredibly natural expressiveness, feeling and response. This allows you to play as you would

2. Playing with the on-board songs

The TD-9 has 50 pre-programmed songs featuring a variety of styles. You can also use the MIX IN

jack to play along with an external audio source (MP3 player or CD player etc). And you can con-

nect a USB Key as well for the same purpose.

1. Press the [SONG] button.

The [SONG] button lights up and the “SONG” screen

appears.

2. Use the [+/-] buttons or turn the

[VALUE] dial to select a song.

3. Press the [ ] button.

The [ ] button lights up, and playback begins.

When you press the [

] button again, the button

goes dark and playback stops.

button you can mute the

Playing along with music from a portable audio player

Use MIX IN jack to connect your MP3 player, CD or other audio source.

1. Connect it to the TD-9’s MIX IN jack as shown in the illustration.

2. Using an external audio source.

For details, refer to the owner’s manual of your audio player.

* The sound received at MIX IN will be output from the main OUTPUT and PHONES jacks.

* The volume/audio level from the external source will determine the balance between it and the level of

your playing on the TD-9. Adjust accordingly.

Playing along with songs from a USB memory key

After you have saved songs on your USB memory key from your

computer, you can use this as an external audio source to play

along with.

We cannot guarantee operation if other products are used.

1. Press the [SHIFT] + [SONG] buttons.

The [SONG] button will light, and the “EXTERNAL SONG” screen

appears.

2. Use the [+/-] buttons or turn the [VALUE] dial.

New horizons by using USB keys

The TD-9’s USB port allows you to

use audio data saved to a USB key for

practice or live performances.

IMPORTANT: Only audio les in the

following formats can be used.

3. Practice applications

V-Drums make practicing more enjoyable. The TD-9 features a Quick Rec function that lets you

easily record your performance. The Quick Play function allows immediate play back of that re-

corded performance. The Scope function lets you see your timing accuracy in the display, a help-

ful tool to improve your drumming technique.

1. Press the [QUICK REC] button.

The [QUICK REC] button lights up, and the “QUICK

REC” screen appears.

3. Press the [QUICK PLAY] button.

The [QUICK PLAY] button lights up, and playback

begins.

* Quick Play only plays back performances you recorded

using the Quick Rec function.

Recording/playing your performance

2. Hit any pad or press the [ ] button.

Recording begins. When you press the [QUICK REC]

button once again, recording stops and the [QUICK

REC] button goes dark.

If you only want to record your drum performance, do

as explained above.

If you want to record your performance together with

a built-in song, press the [QUICK REC] button and then

press the [

] button to start recording.

Practicing and monitoring your timing

The TD-9’s Scope function makes practicing even more fun and challenging by displaying your

timing in real time.

1. Press the [SCOPE] button.

The [SCOPE] button lights up, and the “SCOPE” screen appears.

2. Strike a pad.

The screen will show your timing.

Press the [SCOPE] button again to exit the “SCOPE” function. The button goes dark.

Practicing with the metronome

Practicing with the TD-9’s built in metronome will help you perfect your tempo skills.

Using the metronome

1. Press the [CLICK (TEMPO)] button.

The [CLICK (TEMPO)] button lights up and

the metronome starts. Press the button again

to stop it.

2. While holding down the [SHIFT]

button, press the [CLICK (TEMPO)]

button.

The “TEMPO” screen appears.

3. Use the [+/-] buttons or the [VALUE]

knob to adjust the tempo.

4. Expanding the drum kit

Connecting an extra tom pad (PD-85: sold separately)

Use a stereo cable to connect the PD-85 to the TD-9 as shown in the illustration.

1. Attach the Pad Mount (MDH-10U : sold separately) to the stand.

2. Connect the cable included with the

pad to the TD-9’s AUX jack.

There are dierent ways to expand the size of the TD-9K2/9KX2 to adapt to your playing style.

By adding a V hi-hat, you can enjoy the same playing feel and expressiveness as with an acoustic

hi-hat.

Use a stereo cable to connect the CY-8 to the TD-9 as shown in

the illustration.

1. Attach the Cymbal Mount to the

stand.

2. Connect the cable included with the

pad to the TD-9’s CRASH2 jack.

The V hi-hat is a prime example

of Roland’s V-Drums technology

The main feature of the V hi-hat (VH-

11) is the design that creates the

movement, weight and playing feel of

a acoustic hi-hat.

The VH-11 can be mounted on a just

about any hi-hat stand, allowing

normal bow/edge playing technique,

smooth transition between the open

and closed position and even foot

splashes.

Connecting a V hi-hat (VH-11: sold separately)

Use the existing cables to connect the VH-11 to

the TD-9 as shown in the illustration.

1. Connect the HH (hi-hat trigger) cable

to the TRIGGER OUT jack.

2. Connect the HHC (hi-hat control) cable

to the CONTROL OUT jack.

Der entscheidende Vorteil der Roland V-Drums im Vergleich zu einem akustischen Schlagzeug ist,

dass Sie auf Knopfdruck die Stilrichtung des Schlagzeug-Sets wechseln und zusätzlich die einzel-

nen Klänge verändern und neu speichern können. Das TD-9 besitzt 522 Schlagzeug-Sounds und

50 Programme für Schlagzeug-Sets. Im Folgenden geht es zunächst um die Auswahl dieser Sets.

2. Spielen zu Songs

Sie können das TD-9 Set zu einem Song-Playback spielen. Die Songs können aus folgenden

Quellen stammen: a) aus dem TD-9 selbst (das TD-9 besitzt 50 vorprogrammierte Songs),

b) von einem Audio-Player (mp3, CD, MD etc.), der am MIX IN des TD-9 angeschlossen ist, oder

c) von einem USB Stick, der am TD-9 angeschlossen ist.

1. Drücken Sie den [SONG]-Taster.

Die [SONG]-Anzeige leuchtet, und das “SONG”-

Display erscheint.

2. Wählen Sie mit den [+/-]-Tastern oder dem

[VALUE]-Rad den gewünschten Song aus.

3. Drücken Sie den [ ]-Taster.

Die [ ]-Anzeige leuchtet, und das Playback wird

gestartet. Wenn Sie [

] erneut drücken, erlischt

die Anzeige, und das Playback stoppt.

Spielen zu Songs eines externen Audio Players

Gehen Sie dafür wie folgt vor.

1. Schließen Sie den Audio Player (mp3, CD etc.) an die MIX IN-Buchse des TD-9 an.

2. Starten Sie das Playback des externen Audio Players.

Lesen Sie bei Bedarf dazu die Anleitung des externen Audio Players.

* Das am MIX IN anliegende Signal wird über die OUTPUT-Buchsen und die PHONES-Buchse ausgegeben.

* Die Lautstärke des MIX IN-Signals muss am externen Gerät eingestellt werden.

Spielen zu Songs eines USB Sticks

Sie können einen Song im Audio-Format auf einen USB Stick

kopieren, diesen dann mit dem TD-9 direkt abspielen und dazu

das TD-9 Set selber spielen.

Verwenden Sie von Roland empfohlene USB-Speicher!

Nur in diesem Fall ist ein störungsfreier Betrieb gewährleistet.

1. Drücken Sie die Taster [SHIFT] + [SONG].

Die [SONG]-Anzeige leuchtet, und das “EXTERNAL SONG”-Display

erscheint.

2. Wählen Sie mit den [+/-]-Tastern oder dem [VALUE]-

Rad den gewünschten Song aus.

Die Songs des USB Sticks werden wie folgt angezeigt:

Die V-Drums sind ideal für das Üben und Überprüfen des eigenen Schlagzeug-Spiels:

Mithilfe der Quick Rec-Funktion wird Ihr Spiel schnell und einfach aufgezeichnet, mithilfe der

Quick Play-Funktion wird die Aufnahme sofort abgespielt.

Mit der Scope-Funktion wird das eigene Spiel in Echtzeit überprüft.

1. Drücken Sie den [QUICK REC]-Taster.

Die [QUICK REC]-Anzeige leuchtet, und das “QUICK

REC”-Display erscheint.

3. Drücken Sie den [QUICK PLAY]-Taster.

Die [QUICK PLAY]-Anzeige leuchtet, und das Playback

wird gestartet.

* Mit “Quick Play” können nur Songs abgespielt werden,

die vorher mit “Quick Rec” aufgezeichnet wurden.

2. Schlagen Sie ein Pad an oder drücken

Sie den [

]-Taster.

Die Aufnahme beginnt. Erneutes Drücken von [QUICK

REC] stoppt die Aufnahme wieder.
