Setup

1. Loosen the knob , then mo v e the assist handle up or do wn the

shaft to y our desired height ( Figure 1 ).

2. Pi v ot the assist handle to a comfor table position ( Figure 1 ),

then tighten the knob .

3. Install the guard as sho wn in Figure 2 , snapping it into both

sides of the trimmer .

4. Install the metal wire guide ( Figure 3 ).

Operation

During operation, the trimmer may thr o w objects in the

operator’ s or a bystander’ s dir ection, causing injur y .

• W ear safety go g g les or other suita ble ey e pr otection,

long pants, and shoes while operating the trimmer .

• K eep bystander s a w ay fr om the w or k ar ea.

W hen the trimmer is r unning the cutting head is spinning .

If y ou contact the cutting line or cutting head, y ou could

be injur ed.

• K eep the cutting head a w ay fr om y our hands, feet,

and bystander s. K eep the guard in place and in

w or king order .

• W ear shoes and long pants when using the trimmer .

• Ensur e that the cutting head has stopped and y ou

disconnect the trimmer fr om the po w er source bef or e

y ou ser vice or examine the cutting head. Do not star t

the trimmer unless y our hands ar e on both handles

and the cutting head is do wn near the g r ound.

• Do not allo w the trimmer to cut into the cord.

Connecting to a Power Source

If y ou do not full y seat the extension cord on the inlet

plug , the loose plug could lead to o v erheating and cause a

ﬁr e, possibl y bur ning y ou or other s.

Ensur e that y ou full y seat the cord on the plug and use the

cord lock featur e to secur e the cord.

Starting and Stopping the

Trimmer

T o star t the trimmer , squeeze the trig g er ( Figure 5 ).

Edging

Lengthening the Line

T o increase the length of the cutting line , tap the spool on the

g round while the trimmer is r unning ( Figure 8 ).

Note: T he blade under the guard will cut the line to the cor rect

length.

Important: Use the f ollo wing pr ecautions to ensur e

optimal line perf or mance:

• Do not hold the spool on the g r ound.

• T o help prev ent line tangle , tap only once to lengthen line . If

additional line is required, w ait a few seconds before tapping

the trimmer head.

• If the line is not adv anced occasionally , it will w ear do wn

to the eyelet. W hen the trimmer stops , the shor t line may

r etract into the cutter head . Should this occur , remo v e

spool, refeed the line through eyelet, and assemble spool to

trimmer .

Operating Tips

T o reduce line w ear and impro v e trimming perfor mance , use the

follo wing tec hniques when trimming:

• R emo v e any wire , rope or string-lik e matter whic h could

become entangled in the rotating line from the trimming area.

• T rim only when the g rass and w eeds are dr y .

• Slo wly mo v e the trimmer in and out of the area being cut

( Figure 9 ).

to do the cutting .

• Clean the trimmer, especially the air intake vents

• Check the trimmer for damage and tighten all fasteners.

Daily Care

After eac h use of the trimmer , complete the follo wing:

• Wipe the trimmer clean with a damp cloth. Do not hose the

trimmer do wn or submerge it in w ater .

• Wipe or scrape clean the cutting head area any time there

is an accum ulation of debris .

• Chec k and tighten all fasteners . If any par t is damag ed or

lost, re pair or re place it.

• Br ush debris a w a y from air intak e v ents on the bac k of the

shaft to prev ent the motor from o v erheating .

Replacing Line

F or re placement line , purc hase a new , pre-w ound spool of line

(model no . 88175) or bulk line (0.065 inc h dia. (1.6 mm) x 30ft.

(9 m)) that y ou can wind onto the old spool. Both are a v ailable

from y our A uthorized T oro Dealer .

Metal wir e, r ope, plastic kni v es, or an y material other than

T or o .065 inch dia. (1.6 mm) n ylon monoﬁlament may

o v er load the motor , possibl y causing a ﬁr e or electrical

shock.

Do not use an y material other than T or o .065 inch dia.

(1.6 mm) n ylon monoﬁlament, 30 ft. (9 m) maximum line

length.

Removing the Spool

1. T wist the cap off countercloc kwise ( Figure 10 ).

Note: If the spring falls off , install it before installing the

spool.

3. T horoughly clean the cutting head and cap and inspect them

for any damag ed or w or n par ts .

Rewinding the Spool

Note: If y ou are re placing the spool with a new , pre-w ound

spool, discard the empty spool and skip this section.

1. R emo v e any cutting line left on the spool.

2. Hook one end of line all the w ay into the slot on the spool

( Figure 12 ), allo wing no mor e than 1/8 inch (3 mm) to

pr otr ude.

3. Wind the line in the direction of the ar ro w on the spool, in

lev el ro ws , betw een the spool ﬂang es .

Important: T he trimmer will not function cor r ectl y if

y ou wind the line in the wr ong dir ection, the end of the

line pr otr udes mor e than 1/8 inch (3 mm), or y ou wind

mor e than 30 ft (9 m) of line on the spool.

Installing the Spool

If y ou do not full y install the spool and cap , the trimmer

could thr o w them during operation, causing injur y to y ou

or bystander s.

1. Holding the line and spool, inser t the spool into the cutting

head and the line into the eyelet ( Figure 13 ).

Storage

Store the trimmer and extension cord indoors , in a cool dr y

location, out of reac h of c hildren and animals .

Important: Do not r est the trimmer on the guard or it may

w ar p and interfer e with the cutting line.

Note: Devices for retaining extension cords are commercially

a v ailable .

Service

• Sc hließen Sie die Masc hine v om Netzstrom ab , bev or

Einrichtung

1. Lösen Sie das Handrad, sc hieben Sie dann den Griff entlang

Schuhe und lange Hosen.

• Stellen Sie sicher , dass sich der Schneidk opf nicht

Steckdose a bziehen, bev or Sie W ar tungsarbeiten

ausführ en oder den Schneidk opf pr üfen. Star ten Sie

den R asentrimmer n ur , w enn Sie den Grif f mit beiden

Händen festhalten, und sich der Schneidk opf gerade

über dem Boden beﬁndet.

• P assen Sie auf, dass der R asentrimmer nicht das

K a bel beschädigt.

Anschließen an eine

Stromquelle

Tippen Sie bei laufendem Gerät einfac h die F adenspule auf den

Boden, um Sc hneidfaden nac hzuspulen ( Bild 8 ).

sc hneidet den F aden auf die ric htig e Läng e ab .

Wichtig: Beachten Sie die f olgenden V or sichtsmaßnah-

men, die eine optimale Schnittleistung Ihr es Schneidf adens

gew ähr leisten:

• Halten Sie die Spule nicht auf den Boden.

• Um ein V erhedder n des F adens zu v er meiden, tippen Sie

beim Nac hspulen des F adens n ur einmal auf den Boden.

W enn Sie noc h mehr F aden nac hspulen m üssen, w ar ten Sie

einig e Sekunden, bev or Sie den Sc hneidk opf noc hmals auf

den Boden tippen.

• W enn der F aden nic ht g eleg entlic h nac hg espult wird, n utzt er

sic h bis zur Öse ab . W enn Sie den T rimmer abstellen, kann

sic h der Sc hneidfaden in den Schneidk opf zur ückziehen .

In diesem F all entfer nen Sie die Spule , führen den F aden

wieder durc h die Öse und bauen die Spule wieder ein.

Betriebshinweise

Bitte beac hten Sie die folg enden Hinw eise zum Sc hneiden,

um eine möglic hst lang e Lebensdauer des Sc hneidfadens zu

g ew ährleisten und die Sc hneidleistung des Rasentrimmers zu

v erbesser n:

• Entfer nen Sie g gf . im Arbeitsbereic h lieg ende Drähte ,

Seile oder F äden usw ., die sic h im drehenden Sc hneidfaden

v erfang en k önnen.

• Ben utzen Sie den Rasentrimmer n ur , w enn das Gras und

Unkraut troc k en sind.

• Bew eg en Sie den Rasentrimmer langsam in den und aus dem

Sc hneidbereic h heraus ( Bild 9 ).

Auswechseln des Schneidfa-

dens

K aufen Sie als Ersatzfaden eine neue , bereits aufg espulte Spule

(Modelln ummer 88175) oder einen Massenfaden (Durc hmesser

v on 1,6 mm und einer Läng e v on 9 m), den Sie auf die alte

Spule aufwic k eln. Sie erhalten beide F adentypen bei Ihrem T oro

V er tragshändler .

Metalldrähte, Seile, Plastikmesser oder ander e

Materialien, außer der T or o Nylon -Monoﬁlseide mit

1,6 mm Durchmesser k önnen den Motor über lasten und

zu einem Brand oder elektrischen Schock führ en.

V erw enden Sie k eine ander en Materialien als T or o

Nylon -Monoﬁlseide mit 1,6 mm Durchmesser und einer

maximalen F adenlänge v on 9 m.

Entfernen der Spule

1. Drehen Sie die K appe entg eg en dem Uhrzeig ersinn, um sie

abzunehmen ( Bild 10 ).

Hinweis: Sollte die F eder herausfallen, setzen Sie sie v or

3. Säuber n Sie den Sc hneidk opf und die K appe g r ündlic h und

ac hten Sie darauf , dass beide T eile k eine besc hädigten oder

abg en utzten T eile aufw eisen.

Aufwickeln der Spule

Hinweis: W enn Sie die Spule g eg en eine neue , bereits

aufg ewic k elte Spule ausw ec hseln, entsorg en Sie die leere Spule

und überspring en Sie diesen Absc hnitt.

1. Entfer nen Sie g gf . den auf der Spule v erbleibenden

Sc hneidfaden.

2. Hak en Sie ein Ende des Sc hneidfadens ganz in den Sc hlitz

an der Spule ein ( Bild 12 ), so dass höchstens 3 mm

herausra gen.

3. Wic k eln Sie den F aden in gleic hmäßig en R eihen zwisc hen

den Spulenränder n in die Ric htung, in die der Pfeil auf der

Spule zeigt.

Wichtig: Der R asentrimmer funktionier t nicht

ordn ungsgemäß, w enn der F aden f alsch her um

aufgewick elt wird, das F adenende mehr als 3 mm

herausschaut, oder Sie mehr als 9 m Schneidf aden auf

die Spule aufwick eln.

Einsetzen der Spule

W enn Sie die Spule und K appe nicht v ollständig einsetz en,

k önnten sie w ähr end des Betrie bs aus dem R asentrimmer

herausgeschleuder t w erden und den Ben utz er oder

Unbeteiligte v er letz en.

1. Halten Sie den Sc hneidfaden und die Spule fest, setzen Sie

dann die Spule in den Sc hneidk opf und den Sc hneidfaden in

die Öse ein ( Bild 13 ).

Montaje

1. Aﬂoje el pomo , lueg o desplace la empuñadura supletoria hacia

Operación

Durante la operación, la desbr ozadora puede ar r ojar

objetos hacia el operador o hacia otras per sonas, causando

lesiones.

• Llev e gaf as de seguridad u otra pr otección ocular

adecuada, pantalón largo y zapatos mientras utiliza la

desbr ozadora.

• Mantenga alejados a otras per sonas de la z ona de

tra bajo.

Cuando la desbr ozadora está en marcha, el ca bezal de

cor te gira. Si usted toca la cuerda de cor te o el ca bezal

de cor te, puede lesionar se.

• Mantenga el ca bezal de cor te alejado de sus manos,

sus pies y de otras per sonas. Mantenga el pr otector

colocado y en buen estado.

• Llev e calzado y pantalón largo al usar la desbr ozadora.

• Asegúr ese de que el ca bezal de cor te se ha parado

y de que ha desconectado la desbr ozadora antes de

examinar o r ealizar ajustes o mantenimiento en el

ca bezal de cor te. No ar ranque la desbr ozadora a

menos que las manos estén sobr e ambas empuñaduras

Conexión a una fuente de

alimentación

P ara aumentar la longitud de la cuerda de cor te , g olpee el car rete

contra el suelo con la desbrozadora en marc ha ( Figura 8 ).

Importante: Siga estas pr ecauciones para asegurar el

r endimiento óptimo de la cuerda:

• No sujete el car r ete contra el suelo.

• P ara evitar enredos , dé un solo g olpe para alarg ar la cuerda.

Si se requiere más cuerda, espere unos segundos antes de

g olpear el cabezal de la desbrozadora.

• Si la cuerda no se alarg a de v ez en cuando , se desg astará

hasta el ojal. Cuando la desbrozadora se para, la cuerda cor ta

puede r etraer se dentr o del ca bezal de cor te . Si esto

ocur re , retire el car rete , vuelv a a pasar la cuerda por el ojal y

monte el car rete en la desbrozadora.

Consejos de operación

P ara reducir el desg aste de la cuerda y mejorar el rendimiento de

cor te , utilice las siguientes técnicas de perﬁlado:

• R etire de la zona de trabajo cualquier alambre , cuerda u

objeto similar que pudiera enredarse en la cuerda giratoria.

• Utilice la desbrozadora únicamente cuando la hierba y las

malas hierbas están secas .

• Muev a la desbrozadora lentamente , introduciéndola y

retirándola de la zona a cor tar ( Figura 9 ).

• Si la hierba o las malas hierbas a cor tar tienen más de 20 cm

de alto , cór telas desde ar riba hacia abajo en pequeños

incrementos .

• No fuerce la desbr ozadora. Deje que la misma punta de la

cuerda realice el cor te .

Cómo cambiar la cuerda

P ara cambiar la cuerda, usted puede adquirir un car rete n uev o de

cuerda (modelo nº 88175) o adquirir cuerda a g ranel (1,6 mm de

diámetro x 9 m de larg o) para enrollar en el car rete antiguo . Puede

adquirir ambos en su Distribuidor T oro A utorizado .

El alambr e, la cuerda nor mal, los cuchillos de plástico

u otr os materiales que no sean la cuerda de n ylon

monoﬁlamento T or o de 1,6 mm de diámetr o pueden

sobr ecargar el motor , y posiblemente pr o v ocar un

incendio o una descarga eléctrica.

No utilice ningún material que no sea la cuerda de n ylon

monoﬁlamento T or o de 1,6 mm de diámetr o, con longitud

máxima de 9 metr os.

Cómo retirar el carrete

1. Gire la tapa en el sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj para

retirarla ( Figura 10 ).

2. R etire la tapa y el car rete ( Figura 11 ).

3. Limpie a fondo el cabezal de cor te y la tapa y asegúrese de

que no tienen piezas desg astadas o dañadas .

Cómo rebobinar el carrete

Nota: Si usted v a a cambiar el car rete por uno n uev o ,

preenrollado , puede desec har el car rete v acío y saltarse esta

sección.

1. R etire cualquier cuerda que quede en el car rete .

2. Eng anc he un extremo de la cuerda al f ondo de la ran ura del

car rete ( Figura 12 ), dejando que sobr esalga no más de

3 mm.

3. Enrolle la cuerda en el sentido que marca la ﬂec ha del car rete ,

de for ma homogénea, en el canal del car rete .

Importante: La desbr ozadora no funcionará

cor r ectamente si la cuerda se enr olla en sentido

contrario, si el extr emo de la cuerda sobr esale más de

3 mm, o si la cuerda del car r ete mide más de 9 metr os.

Instalación del carrete

Si usted no instala cor r ectamente el car r ete y la tapa,

la desbr ozadora podría ar r ojar los durante la operación,

causando lesiones a usted o a otras per sonas.

1. Sujetando la cuerda y el car rete , introduzca el car rete en el

cabezal de cor te y pase la cuerda por el ojal ( Figura 13 ).

Almacenamiento

lug ar fresco y seco , fuera del alcance de niños y animales .
