DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The DLM shade motors (MCA or Motor Control Assembly) are part of a complete shade control system designed to make installation
and programming of motorized roller shades simple and easy. DLM motors have a unique counter-balance design that allows the
shades to be pulled into position or raised by using the hembar. Pulling on the shade hembar will not damage the motor.
The DLM shades motors have two different gear ratios to support shades of different sizes. The 40:1 gear ratio motors (LMSH-MCA140)
are used on smaller shades while the 73:1 gear ratio motors (LMSH-MCA173) are used on larger and coupled shades. For each shade
there is a counter-balance spring that is designed specifically for the weight of the shade and motor. The motor and spring assembly is
specified and tested by the factory. In the rare instance they have to be replaced in the field, be sure to use the same motor and spring
combination. Contact factory for assistance in getting replacement motors and spring assemblies
Using the patented Plug n’ Go (PnG) operation when the MCA is connected to the shade network (can be connected to the powered
system) the MCA will automatically join the network, set a default upper and lower shade limit, and be assigned to any shade switches
on the project. These settings can be customized later by using the Push n’ Learn (PnL) and Pull n’ Save (PnS) procedures found in
shade controller power supply or shade switch installation instructions.

to orientate the Antenna and Shade Bus
Whip relative to the Hembar as shown.
Step 4 Insert Crown completely into the shade
tube. Note that the LED should be below the
Bracket Shaft when installed into the brackets.
REPLACING AND INSTALLING THE MOTOR
Step 5 Connect the Shade Bus Whip to an
LMSH-SBE4, LMSH-PS602, or LMSH-PS610.

SETTING UP THE REPLACEMENT MCA IN THE DLM SHADE NETWORK
Once the MCA is connected and the system is powered up, the new MCA will be recognized by the shade controller and will be
controlled by all connected switches, based on the default Plug n’ Go operation for each switch model.
You may need to set the lower or upper shade limits, by using the Pull n’ Save procedure.
Finally, you can use Push n’ Learn™ technology to change the binding relationship between switch buttons and the new shade motor.
For detailed instructions on Plug n’ Go, Pull n’ Save, and Push n’ Learn, see the installation instructions for the LMSH-PS602 or
LMSH-PS610 shade controller power supplies, or the LMSH-SW10x Shade Switches. These guides can be downloaded from the
Legrand Shading Website.
LED Status Indicators
Off Shade is operating correctly and is not in any configuration mode.
Solid Red There is an error with shade. See Troubleshooting section.
Blinking Red 4 times per/second The system is in PnL mode.
Blinking Red 2 times per/second The system is in PnS mode.
TROUBLESHOOTING
LEDs on a shade switch
or motorized shade don’t
light
1. Check to see that the device is connected to the DLM Local Network.
2. Check for 36VDC input to the device: Plug in a different DLM device at the device location. If the
device does not power up, 36VDC is not present.
Check the high voltage connections to the shade controller.
If high voltage connections are good and high voltage is present, recheck DLM Local Network
connections between the device and the room controller(s).
LEDs turn ON and OFF
but shade doesn’t move
1. Make sure the DLM local network is not in PnS.
2. Check shade bus connections between shade controller and DLM motorized shades.
