THE SUB

: a system that cools, preserves and serves beer from THE TORP.

THE TORP

: a container with 2L (67 oz) of beer.

THE SUB can only be used with THE TORP and vice versa.

IMPORTANT: To ensure optimal performance of the appliance and good quality

of beer: always leave THE SUB switched on when THE TORP is

inside.

If you switch off THE SUB with THE TORP inside, it will not cool THE

TORP nor keep it under pressure, which will impact the taste of the

beer.

• When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should

always be followed to reduce the risk of re, electric shock, and/or

1. Read all instructions.

2. To protect against re, electric shock and injury to persons, do

1 – PREPARING THE SUB

INSTALLATION

THE SUB should be used indoors at a room temperature between 53.6°F and 89.6°F.

The original packaging has been designed to protect the appliance. We recommend that

you keep it for future transport.

Take THE SUB out of its packaging, along with the drip tray and the tap handle, and place

them on a at, dry surface that is clean and large enough (1-2).

Do not install THE SUB near hot surfaces or in places that are directly exposed to sunlight.

For both part of the drip tray (depending on model, there can be one or two parts) in front

of the SUB. On certain models, a magnet is in place to attach the drip tray to THE SUB.

Plug THE SUB into a suitable socket and press the ON/OFF button (3). Check that the red

temperature indicator lights up.

Tip: We recommend plugging THE SUB into the socket and turning it on at least one

hour before installing a TORP.

TEMPERATURE INDICATOR

Red: THE SUB is plugged in and powered on. The cooling process is in progress.

Green: the beer is at optimum temperature and ready to be served.

NOISE

THE SUB holds a cooling system that regulates the temperature of THE TORP. It is usual

for this technology to create some noise, particularly during the cooling phase.

THE SUB also holds a pump to keep THE TORP under pressure. While the machine is

on and THE TORP installed, the pump will be activated automatically from time to time,

generating some noise that will stop after a few seconds. This means that the pump is

repressurizing THE TORP.

2 – SERVING THE BEER

PREPARING THE TORP

IMPORTANT: before inserting a TORP into THE SUB, check the Use By Date indicated on

the side of THE TORP. Do not use THE TORP if it has passed this date.

To reduce the cooling time, we recommend storing THE TORP in the fridge for a few hours

before use. See the instructions on THE TORP.

Tip: we recommend always keeping a spare TORP in the fridge. This will enable you to

always have access to a spare chilled TORP.

Do not store THE TORP at a temperature of more than 89.6°F or at temperatures below

32°F, and do not expose it to direct sunlight. Do not shake it or drop it.

COOLING THE TORP

For an optimum temperature, only serve the beer when the temperature indicator has

changed to green.

If the TORP and SUB are at room temperature (71.6°F), cooling of the beer to a temperature of

35.6°F inside the SUB takes around 10 hours.

However, if THE TORP has been stored in the fridge overnight, this time frame can be

reduced signicantly (several hours).

The temperature of the beer in THE TORP has direct impact on the level of foam: the beer

should be served sufciently cold, when the temperature indicator is green.

IMPORTANT: never store a TORP in the freezer as this could cause leakage due to

freezing of the beer.

INSTALLING THE TORP IN THE SUB

Unscrew the cover of THE TORP (4). The tube is stored inside the cap of THE TORP (5).

Place the tube connector in the opening of THE TORP until you hear a click (6). THE TORP

is now ready to use. You can place it in THE SUB by following these steps:

- Open the door of THE SUB by turning the handle counterclockwise (follow the red

arrow on the machine) (7) .

- Open the door completely (8).

- Push THE TORP into THE SUB (9).

- Open the tap cover, slip the tube through the tap and insert the tube spout into the

tap (10 - 11).

- Close the door. Turn the handle clockwise until it is locked in place (12).

- Close the tap cover (12).

THE TORP is correctly installed, the temperature indicator is red marking the start of the

cooling phase. When it is green, the beer is ready to be served (13).

When you close the door, THE SUB checks the pressure inside THE TORP and activates

the pump each time the pressure is insufcient.

IMPORTANT: do not unload a TORP until it is completely empty. A TORP that has

been unloaded from THE SUB is depressurized. Therefore, the beer quality is no

longer guaranteed.

PREPARING THE GLASS

To pour the perfect beer, it is essential to use a clean cold glass. Rinse your glass with cold

water before serving the beer.

This will prevent the beer from warming up in the glass as well as the creation of too much foam.

We recommend you use the Heineken glasses available at www.the-sub.com.

SERVING THE BEER

- Incline your glass at an angle of 45° with respect to the tap.

- Pull the handle quickly forward as far as it will go. Then gradually straighten the glass

as it lls (14-15-16).

When serving from THE TORP, there is more foam in the rst glass than in the following

glasses. To limit the quantity of foam in the rst glass, we recommend pouring 3/4 of an inch

of foam, then clean this glass and restart pouring the beer.

For the other glasses, hold the tap handle in forward position until the glass is lled.

IMPORTANT: If you pull the handle too slowly you will generate extra foam.

3 - CLEANING

CLEANING AFTER DAILY USE

Depending on the model, the drip tray can be composed of two parts.

Note: the drip tray (I) can be washed in hot water with a mild detergent (17). It can also

go in the dishwasher. The stainless steel drip tray (J) (according to models) cannot be

cleaned in the dishwasher.

Warning! Never use harsh detergents, such as vinegar, acids or solvents.

CLEANING DURING INSTALLATION OF A NEW TORP

Clean away all traces of beer that have built up on the tap.

The tap mechanism should be cleaned with a damp cloth and some mild detergent (18).

Warning! Do not attempt to clean the mechanism with hard and/or sharp objects.

Clean the cooling chamber of THE SUB using a soft dry cloth (19).

4 - TROUBLESHOOTING

5 – DISPOSAL

Let’s play our part in protecting the environment!

Your appliance contains numerous materials that can be recovered or

recycled.

 Take it to a collection point or an approved service center for processing.

- Appliances being disposed of should be rendered unusable.

- The plug should be disconnected from the socket and the power cord should be cut.

- Appliances that are no longer in use should be taken to a collection center for disposal of

the special components used in the manufacture of the appliance.

- The “TEM module” or Peltier cell should be disposed of according to the regulations in

force in the country where the appliance is used.

The international manufacturer’s guarantee by KRUPS is an extra benet which does not

affect consumer’s Statutory Rights.

The international manufacturer’s guarantee covers all costs related to restoring the proven

defective product so that it conforms to its original specications, through the repair

or replacement of any defective part and the necessary labour. At KRUPS’s choice, a

replacement product may be provided instead of repairing a defective product. KRUPS’s

sole obligation and your exclusive resolution under this guarantee are limited to such repair

or replacement.

Conditions & Exclusions

The international KRUPS guarantee only applies within the guarantee period and for those

countries listed in the country list attached and is valid only on presentation of a proof of

purchase. The product can be taken directly in person to an authorised service centre or

must be adequately packaged and returned, by recorded delivery (or equivalent method

of postage), to a KRUPS authorised service centre. Full address details for each country’s

KRUPS shall not be obliged to repair or replace any product which is not accompanied by

ne refroidira plus le TORP et n’en maintiendra plus la pression, ce qui

modiera le goût de la bière.

1 - PRÉPARATION DU THE SUB

INSTALLATION

THE SUB doit être utilisé à l’intérieur de votre habitation, dans une pièce où la température

est comprise entre 53,6°F et 89,6°F.

L’emballage original a été conçu pour protéger l’appareil. Il est conseillé de le conserver

pour tout transport futur.

Sortez THE SUB de son emballage ainsi que le plateau perforé et la poignée de service, et

posez-les sur une surface plane, sèche, propre et sufsamment grande (1-2).

N’installez pas THE SUB près de surfaces chaudes ni dans des endroits exposés à la

lumière directe du soleil.

Le plateau perforé, selon le modèle, peut comporter une ou deux pièces. Sur certains

modèles, un aimant permet de xer le plateau perforé à l’appareil.

Branchez THE SUB sur une prise de courant approprié et appuyez sur le bouton « marche

/arrêt » (3). Assurez-vous que le voyant rouge de température s’allume.

Conseil : Nous recommandons de brancher THE SUB sur une prise et de le mettre sous

tension au moins une heure avant d’installer un TORP.

INDICATEUR DE TEMPÉRATURE

Rouge : THE SUB est branché et sous tension. Le processus de refroidissement est en cours.

Vert : la bière est à température optimale et prête à servir.

BRUIT

THE SUB comprend un système de refroidissement qui régule la température du TORP. Il

est normal pour ce type de technologie de produire du bruit, notamment pendant la phase

de refroidissement.

THE SUB comporte également une pompe maintenant THE TORP sous pression. Quand

l’appareil est allumé et que THE TORP est installé, la pompe est automatiquement et

régulièrement activée, ce qui génère du bruit qui s’arrête après quelques secondes. Cela

indique que la pompe est en train de repressuriser THE TORP.

2 – TIRAGE DE LA BIÈRE

PRÉPARATION DU TORP

IMPORTANT : avant d’insérer un TORP dans l’appareil, vériez la date d’expiration

indiquée sur le côté du TORP. N’utilisez pas le TORP si cette date est dépassée.

Pour réduire le temps de refroidissement, il est conseillé de mettre des TORP dans le

réfrigérateur pendant quelques heures avant usage. Voir les instructions indiquées sur le

TORP.

Conseil : nous recommandons de toujours conserver un TORP d’avance au

réfrigérateur. Cela vous permet de toujours avoir à disposition un TORP frais.

Ne rangez pas de TORP à une température supérieure à 89,6°F ou 32°F et ne l’exposez

pas au soleil. Ne le secouez pas et ne le faites pas tomber.

REFROIDISSEMENT DU TORP

Pour que la température soit optimale, ne servez la bière que lorsque l’indicateur de

température est passé au vert.

Dans THE SUB : Si THE TORP et THE SUB sont à la température ambiante (71,6°F), le

refroidissement de la bière à une température de 35,6°F à l’intérieur du THE SUB prendra

10 heures environ.

Toutefois, si le TORP a été mis au réfrigérateur pendant une nuit entière, le refroidissement

prendra beaucoup moins de temps (quelques heures).

La température de la bière dans le TORP a un effet direct sur la mousse : la bière doit être

servie sufsamment fraîche, une fois que l’indicateur de température est vert.

IMPORTANT : Ne mettez jamais un torp au congélateur, car cela pourrait causer une

fuite en raison de la congélation de la bière.

INSTALLATION DU TORP DANS THE SUB

Dévissez le couvercle du THE TORP (4). Le tube est rangé dans le couvercle du THE TORP

(5). Placez le connecteur du tube dans l’ouverture du TORP jusqu’à ce que vous entendiez

un clic (6). Le TORP est maintenant prêt à l’emploi. Vous pouvez le placer dans THE SUB

en suivant ces étapes :

- Ouvrez la porte du THE SUB en tournant sa poignée dans le sens contraire des

aiguilles d’une montre (dans le sens de la èche rouge sur l’appareil) (7).

- Ouvrez la porte complètement (8).

- Poussez le TORP à l’intérieur du THE TORP (9).

- Ouvrez le capot du robinet de service. Enlez le tube dans le robinet et insérez

l’embout de versage du tube dans le robinet de service (10 - 11).

- Refermez la porte. Tournez la poignée dans le sens horaire jusqu’à ce qu’elle soit

verrouillée (12).

- Fermez le capot du robinet de service (12).

Le TORP est bien installé, l’indicateur de température rouge indique le début de la phase

de refroidissement. Lorsqu’il est vert, la boisson est prête à être servie (13).

Dès la fermeture de la porte, THE SUB vérie la pression à l’intérieur du TORP et active la

pompe chaque fois que la pression est insufsante.

Important: Ne retirez pas le TORP s’il n’est pas encore vide. Un TORP qui a été retiré

de l’appareil n’est plus pressurisé. De ce fait, la bonne qualité de la bière n’est plus

garantie.

PRÉPARATION DU VERRE

Pour verser une bière parfaite, il est essentiel d’utiliser un verre froid et propre. Rincez votre

verre à l’eau froide avant de servir la bière.

Cela permet d’éviter que la bière ne chauffe dans le verre et qu’il n’y ait trop de mousse.

TIRAGE DE LA BIÈRE

- Inclinez votre verre à 45° par rapport au robinet de service.

- Tirez la poignée vers l’avant rapidement jusqu’à la butée, puis redressez le verre au

fur et à mesure du remplissage (14-15-16).

Lors de la mise en service d’un TORP, la quantité de mousse est plus importante dans

le premier verre que dans les verres suivants. Pour limiter la quantité de mousse dans le

premier verre, nous vous conseillons de verser 0,79 pouces de mousse, puis de nettoyer

ce verre et de recommencer à verser la bière.

Pour les autres verres, maintenez la poignée en position basse jusqu’à ce que le verre soit

rempli.

IMPORTANT : Si vous tirez sur la poignée lentement, il y aura un excès de mousse.

3 - NETTOYAGE

NETTOYAGE APRÈS L’UTILISATION QUOTIDIENNE

Nettoyez le plateau perforé. Selon le modèle, il est constitué d’une ou de deux pièces.

Remarque : le plateau perforé (I) peut être lavé à l’eau chaude et avec un détergent

doux (17). Il peut également être lavé dans le lave-vaisselle. Le plateau perforé en acier

inoxydable (J) (selon modèle) ne peut être lavé dans le lave-vaisselle.

Attention ! N’utilisez jamais de détergents puissants, comme du vinaigre, des acides

ou des solvants.

NETTOYAGE LORS DE L’INSTALLATION D’UN NOUVEAU

TORP.

Nettoyez le robinet de service pour enlever toutes les traces de bière qui se seraient

accumulées.

Le mécanisme du robinet doit être nettoyé à l’aide d’un chiffon humide et d’un détergent

doux (18).

Attention ! N’essayez pas de nettoyer le mécanisme avec des objets durs et/ou

pointus.

Nettoyez la chambre de réfrigération de l’appareil à l’aide d’un chiffon doux et sec (19).

4 - DÉPANNAGE

PROBLÈME CAUSE SOLUTION

L’appareil ne

s’allume pas.

L’appareil n’est pas branché. Branchez-le sur la prise

électrique la plus proche.

La carte électronique peut être

défectueuse.

l’intérieur de la machine.

La poignée de service de

l’appareil n’est pas correctement

installée/positionnée.

Installez/positionnez la poignée
