Mode d’emploi
What you can do with the
supplied CD-ROM
• You can upgrade the software of MEX-1 HD and
install Gracenote CDDB
R
on the hard disk drive
(HDD) of MEX-1HD.
• Mobile Library Manager software enables you to
manage your library information on your computer
with Memory Stick. And you can get CD titles which
you do not have in the HDD of MEX-1HD from
Gracenote CDDB
R
via the Internet with a Memory
Stick, and register them in MEX-1HD.
Tip
After installing Gracenote CDDB
R
on the HDD of MEX-
1HD, if necessary, you can delete Gracenote CDDB
R
from
the HDD, and you can also reinstall it on the HDD with
the supplied CD-ROM. See “Installing/Uninstalling CDDB”
of the supplied MEX-1HD operating instructions.

Mobile Library Manager
Ver.1.0 for MEX-1HD
Upgrading MEX-1HD
After upgrading MEX-1HD;
• All menu settings return to their initial settings.
• Further functions, especially in the menu are
added.
– Demonstration mode (On/Off)
– The default setting of REC Continue changes
to On.
– When erasing an album, the album itself is
placed in the Recycle Bin. All tracks in the
Recycle Bin before MEX-1HD being upgraded
are placed in the first album folder of the
Recycle Bin.
– When you press
CD
to open the disc tray:
the disc tray opening time becomes longer.
– A file is also available to back up and restore
the data of a Memory Stick.
Note
Do not turn the ignition off while upgrading MEX-1HD.
1 Place the supplied CD-ROM in MEX-1HD.
1 Press
CD
to open the disc tray.
2 Place the CD-ROM (labeled side up) on the disc
tray until it clicks.
3 Push the disc tray to close.
2 Press (OFF).
3 Press (MENU).
The menu window appears.
4 Rotate the R dial to select “Version,” then press
the R dial.
5 Press (F1) (UPDATE).
The confirmation window appears.
6 Rotate the R dial to select “OK,” then press the R
dial.
It takes about 40 minutes to upgrade MEX-1HD and
to install Gracenote CDDB
R
. If the power supply
happens to be cut during the upgrade and
installation, the supplied CD-ROM in MEX-1HD will
automatically reboot MEX-1HD and restart
upgrading softwares and installing Gracenote
CDDB
R
from the beginning. It takes 3 minutes for the
CD-ROM to start rebooting MEX-1HD and during the
reboot the display remains off. Do not turn the power
of MEX-1HD off as MEX-1HD will be automatically
rebooted. When the installation of Gracenote CDDB
R
is complete, “Install Complete” will appear, then the
date and time will be displayed.
Warning
With Mobile Library Manager software you will be able to
access Gracenote CDDB
R
via the Internet until February of
2004. It is not yet determined whether the service with the
software will be available after that.

Conseil
Après l’installation de Gracenote CDDB
R
sur le disque
dur du MEX-1HD, si nécessaire, vous pouvez le
supprimer du disque dur et vous pouvez aussi le
réinstaller à l’aide du CD-ROM fourni. Reportez-vous à
la section “Installation et désinstallation de la CDDB”
dans le mode d’emploi du MEX-1HD fourni.

Remarque
Nous ne pouvons pas garantir un fonctionnement sans

Mise à niveau de MEX-1HD
Après la mise à niveau de MEX-1HD ;
• Tous les réglages de menu sont réinitialisés.
• De nouvelles fonctions sont ajoutées, en
particulier dans le menu.
– Mode Demonstration (On/Off)
– Les réglages par défaut de REC Continue
passent à On.
– Lorsque vous effacez un album, l’album lui-
même est placé dans la corbeille (Recycle Bin).
Toutes les plages qui ont été placées dans la
corbeille avant la mise à niveau du MEX-1HD
sont placées dans le premier dossier d’album de
la corbeille (Recycle Bin).
– Lorsque vous appuyez sur
CD
pour
ouvrir le plateau de lecture :
Le temps nécessaire à l’ouverture du plateau de
lecture augmente.
– Un fichier est également disponible pour faire
des copies de sauvegarde et restaurer les
données d’un Memory Stick.
Remarque
N’éteignez pas le moteur pendant la mise à niveau du
MEX-1HD.
1 Placez le CD-ROM fourni dans le MEX-1HD.
1 Appuyer sur
CD
pour ouvrir le plateau de
lecture.
2 Placez le CD-ROM (côté imprimé vers le haut) sur
le plateau de lecture et appuyez jusqu’au déclic.
3 Poussez le plateau de lecture pour le fermer.
2 Appuyez sur (OFF).
3 Appuyez sur (MENU).
Le menu s’affiche.
4 Tournez la molette de droite pour sélectionner
“Version”, puis appuyez sur la molette.
5 Appuyez sur (F1) (UPDATE).
Le message de confirmation s’affiche.
6 Tournez la molette de droite pour sélectionner
“OK”, puis appuyez sur la molette.
La mise à niveau du MEX-1HD et l’installation de
Gracenote CDDB

prennent environ 40 minutes. Si
l’alimentation secteur est interrompue pendant la
mise à niveau ou l’installation, le CD-ROM fourni
avec le MEX-1HD redémarre automatiquement le
MEX-1HD et recommence depuis le début la mise à
niveau des logiciels et l’installation de Gracenote
CDDB
R
. Il faut environ 3 minutes pour que le CD-
ROM redémarre le MEX-1HD. Pendant le
redémarrage, l’affichage est éteint. Ne coupez pas
l’alimentation du MEX-1HD car MEX-1HD sera
redémarré automatiquement. Une fois l’installation
de Gracenote CDDB
R
terminée, le message “Install
Complete” s’affiche, puis la date et l’heure s’affichent.

Installing the Mobile Library Manager software Ver. 1.0 to your
computer
1 Turn on your computer and start Windows.
Close all applications before you start installing the Mobile Library Manager software.
If you use Windows 2000/Windows XP,
you must log on as an administrator.
2 Insert the supplied CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
The setup program automatically starts. If the program does not start, double-click [SETUP.EXE].
3 Follow the instructions in the Installer windows to complete the installation.
When the installation is finished, click [Finish] and restart your computer.
Using Mobile Library Manager
Before starting up Mobile Library Manager, export the library information of MEX-1HD to a Memory
Stick. See “Editing the library” of the supplied MEX-1HD operating instructions.
1 Turn on your computer.
2 Insert the Memory Stick having the exported library information of MEX-1HD into the slot* of your computer.
* If your computer does not have a slot for Memory Stick, use a Memory Stick Reader/Writer, a Memory Stick
adaptor, etc.
3 Start up Mobile Library Manager.
4 Select the Memory Stick drive.
The library information in the Memory Stick appears on the monitor.
See fig. (A).
5 Start editing the library information.
For details, refer to the online help of Mobile Library Manager.
6 After editing the library information, click the icon (2 Save Library File) to save the information.
7 Import the edited library information to MEX-1HD with Memory Stick.
See “Editing the library” of the supplied MEX-1HD operating instructions.
Note for the albums and tracks already stored on the HDD of MEX-1HD before upgrading
Gracenote CDDB
R
search via the Internet with Mobile Library Manager is only available for the albums having the
same track order as original CDs. Proper search cannot be done in the following cases;
– A track has been additionally recorded on another album.
– A track has been moved from one album to another.
– A track has been deleted.
Installation du logiciel Mobile Library Manager Version 1.0 sur votre
ordinateur
1 Allumez votre ordinateur et lancez Windows.
Fermez toutes les applications avant de lancer l’installation du logiciel Mobile Library Manager.
Pour Windows 2000 ou Windows XP, vous devez ouvrir une session de travail en tant qu’administrateur.
2 Insérez le CD-ROM fourni dans le lecteur de CD-ROM de votre ordinateur.
Le programme d’installation démarre automatiquement. Si le programme ne démarre pas, double-cliquez sur
[SETUP.EXE].
3 Pour terminer l’installation, suivez les directives affichées à l’écran.
Une fois l’installation terminée, cliquez sur [Finish] et redémarrez votre ordinateur.
Utilisation de Mobile Library Manager
Avant de lancer le Mobile Library Manager, exportez les informations sur la phonothèque de MEX-1HD
sur un Memory Stick.
Reportez-vous à la section “Modification de la phonothèque” sur le mode d’emploi
MEX-1HD fourni.
1 Allumez votre ordinateur.
2 Insérez le Memory Stick contenant les informations de phonothèque exportée du MEX-1HD dans la fente* de
votre ordinateur.
* Si votre ordinateur n’est pas équipé d’une fente pour Memory Stick, utilisez un lecteur/enregistreur de
Memory Stick, un adaptateur de Memory Stick, etc.
3 Lancez Mobile Library Manager.
4 Sélectionnez l’unité du Memory Stick.
Les informations de la phonothèque sur le Memory Stick s’affichent à l’écran.

5 Commencez à modifier les informations sur la phonothèque.
Pour plus de détails, reportez-vous à la fonction d’aide de Mobile Library Manager.
6 Après avoir modifié les informations sur la phonothèque, cliquez sur l’icône (2 Save Library File) pour
enregistrer les informations.
7 Importez les informations modifiées concernant la phonothèque sur le MEX-1HD à l’aide d’un Memory Stick.
Reportez-vous à la section “Modification de la phonothèque” sur le mode d’emploi MEX-1HD fourni.
Remarque au sujet des albums et plages déjà enregistrés sur le disque dur du MEX-1HD avant la mise à niveau
La recherche de Gracenote CDDB
R
via Internet avec le Mobile Library Manager n’est disponible que pour les
albums dont l’ordre des pistes est le même que sur le CD d’origine. Il est impossible d’effectuer une recherche
correcte dans les cas suivants ;
– Une plage a également été enregistrée sur un autre album.
– Une plage a été déplacée d’un album vers un autre.
– Une plage a été supprimée.
