Read instructions. All the safety and operating instructions should be read
thoroughly before attempting to operate this audio system.
Retain instructions for future reference.
Heed warnings. All warnings on this audio system and in the operating instructions
should be adhered to.
Follow instructions. All operating and use instructions should be followed.
Do not expose the speakers to liquid or solvent.
Never remove grille covers in order to service the speaker system. The speaker
system does not contain any user-serviceable parts. Refer all servicing to the
JBL Customer Support Group.
Do not expose the speaker system to temperature or humidity extremes, direct
sunlight, excessive dust or vibrations.
Place the speaker system on a stable, level surface. Do not drop, apply excessive
force to the controls or put heavy objects on top of the unit.
If cleaning is required, use a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, use a damp cloth without
any solvents.
In order to protect the speaker system, avoid microphone feedback, continuous
output from electronic musical instruments or distorted output from any signal source.
Do not place the speakers close to uorescent light sources, or neon light xtures.
Although the speakers are magnetically shielded, keep magnetic storage media or
(discs and tapes) at least four inches from the speaker system in order to avoid
data loss.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of re or electric shock, do not expose this speaker
system to rain or moisture.
TO PREVENT THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER.
THERE ARE NO USER-SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE THIS UNIT. PLEASE
CONTACT JBL CUSTOMER SUPPORT IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR
UNIT.

NOTE – USE ONLY JBL-APPROVED POWER SUPPLIES. Using third-party power supplies may
damage the unit and void your warranty.
Important Note for All Electronic Products:
Before inserting or unplugging audio cables from the source device’s headphones or line-level output
jacks, it is good practice to turn off the device rst. This will prolong the life of your unit, help protect your
device from static electricity and prevent potential damage.

Introduction
JBL Radial Micro is a complete iPod docking sound system. It sets a new standard for compact high-performance docking speaker systems.
Connected to your iPod, MP3 player or other music source, JBL Radial Micro will provide clean, powerful sound while also providing your iPod
a charge and a USB pass-through to connect to your computer. Take complete control of your iPod music with JBL Radial Micro. The remote
provides complete control of your listening and viewing experience.
Compatibility
The JBL Radial Micro is compatible with most docking versions of the iPod, including the iPod mini, iPod Photo, and Video iPod. A stereo mini
jack connection also allows you to enjoy high-quality audio from a variety of other devices such as MP3 and CD players, desktop computers (all
platforms), satellite radio and laptops.
Easy-to-use music and navigation controls
Music Controls – Just a gentle touch increases or decreases the volume. Navigation Controls – Browse iPod songs, photos, and playlists, change
tracks and settings, and more. With the JBL Radial Micro IR remote, you have the same control of your iPod as you would if it were in your hand.
Connection versatility
JBL Radial Micro is a multimedia focal point. Listen to your iPod, browse photos or videos, and listen to virtually any other auxiliary audio compo-
nent – all through JBL Radial Micro. Connect your video cable and watch a slide show or video. Connect a USB cable to your computer for full iPod

IR Remote – The JBL Radial Micro IR remote has several modes of operation. Music mode allows you to control the volume, change tracks, fast forward and fast reverse. iPod Navigation mode allows you to navigate iPod menus just as if you were
touching the iPod. You can navigate your music, view your slide shows and nd and play your videos.
OnePoint design – The OnePoint iPod connector provides the connection to your computer. Connect a USB cable to the rear of the JBL Radial Micro and, every time you dock your iPod, you’ll have a connection for synchronizing and charging.
Evercharge Topology– JBL Radial Micro charges your iPod whenever you dock your iPod.
Advanced technology
JBL Radial Micro combines proprietary technologies to produce astonishing bass and clear, accurate sound from any direction.
Digital Amplier – JBL Radial Micro features a high-powered digital amplier, this technology provides clean, powerful bass, a clear, accurate midrange and high frequencies.
Odyssey
®
Transducers – The four Odyssey drivers provide accurate high frequencies and are also capable of low-frequency extension of four octaves. This design provides a full, rich frequency response from the lowest bass to the highest highs.
Slipstream Port Design – The JBL Radial Micro port minimizes boundary-layer separation, providing high-output bass with low distortion.
COE (Computer-Optimized Equalization) – The JBL Radial Micro system equalization is computer-optimized to provide a rich, complete soundstage over a wide range of listening positions.
OCT (Optimized Compression Topology) – JBL Radial Micro utilizes a proprietary compression technology to ensure clean, accurate sound at high output levels.

Unpack the JBL Radial Micro system.
Place the appropriate iPod Dock adapter into the docking station.
Place the iPod into the adapter.
Connect the power supply into the DC jack (#3).

Listening to music from an iPod
Press the “power” button (#1) located on the back of JBL Radial Micro to turn the unit on. A green LED (#2) will indicate the unit is on.
Select and play music through your iPod controls or send commands to your iPod with the remote.
Adjust volume using the “+” and “–” volume buttons located on the front of the unit or on the remote
Listening to music from an auxiliary device
Connect the auxiliary device into the auxiliary-in jack (#6) using the supplied 3.5mm auxiliary cable.
Press the “power” button located on the back of the JBL Radial Micro to turn the unit on.
Control music playback through your device.
Adjust volume using the “+” and “–” volume buttons located on the front of the unit or on the remote.

Viewing photos or videos on a TV/monitor (optional)
Connect one end of the iPod A/V cable (sold separately) to the Composite Audio/Video-Out (#5) on the back of the unit.
Connect the other ends of the iPod A/V cable to your TV/Monitor.
Set your TV/Monitor to the appropriate input.
Set your iPod to display photos or videos through “TV Out” (Refer to your iPod manual for more information).
Control photo or video playback through your iPod controls or send commands to your iPod with the JBL Remote.
Adjust the volume of your video or background music while viewing photos using the “+” and “–” volume buttons located in front of the unit or on the remote.
Syncing and transferring les with your computer
Make sure your iPod is securely docked into the JBL Radial Micro using the correct adapter.
Connect a USB cable (sold separately) into the USB Jack (#4) on the back of the unit and connect the other end of the USB cable directly to your computer’s USB port.
Charging your iPod
Make sure your iPod is securely docked with JBL Radial Micro using the correct adapter.
Make sure JBL Radial Micro is connected to a live electrical outlet.

Remote functionality
Volume Up/Down and Mute will work with all devices. Other functions work only when an iPod is docked.

Before proceeding, make sure the iPod is securely docked to your JBL product.
Note: JBL Radial Micro must be turned on for remote control to operate your audio device.
Navigation Control Mode
Turn iPod on: Press any button on the remote control to wake the iPod.
Turn iPod off: Press and hold the Play/Pause button for two seconds.
Bring up iPod menu: Press the Menu button
Scroll up: Press the Scroll Up button.
Scroll down: Press the Scroll Down button.
Go to previous menu: Press the Menu button.
Select menu/track/feature: Press the Select button.
Music control mode
Play a track: Press the Play/Pause button. Note: If the iPod is at the Main Menu, pressing Play/Pause
will cause the iPod to
start playing all of its music.
Pause a track: Press the Play/Pause button while a song is playing.
Skip to next track: Press the Forward button.
Skip to previous track: Press the Reverse button.
Fast advance track: Press and hold the Forward button.
Fast reverse track: Press and hold the Reverse button.
Increase volume: Press the Volume Up button.
Decrease volume: Press the Volume Down button.
Mute: Press the Mute button.
Go to previous menu: Press the Menu button.
Select menu/track/feature: Press the Select button.
Photo/Video control mode
Play slideshow/video: Press the Play/Pause button.
Skip to next photo/video: Press the Forward button.
Skip to previous photo/video: Press the Reverse button.
Increase volume: Press the Volume Up button.
Decrease volume: Press the Volume Down button.
Mute: Press the Mute button.
Note: In order to wake or turn your iPod on when docked in JBL Radial Micro, JBL Radial Micro power button (#1)
must be on.
Photo/Video control mode
The JBL remote’s battery should last a year under normal usage. To replace the battery, release the battery cover on the back
of the remote and replace the old battery with a CR2032-type battery or equivalent.

To remove an adaptor, insert a at-head screw driver (sold separately) into the slot on the back of the adapter
and lift up.

Sound Quality
No power to unit. Make sure wall power outlet or
power strip has power. Make
sure all switches for outlet/
power strip are on and that all
switches for the unit are on.
Is the LED on?
If the LED is not on, power is not
getting to your JBL Radial Micro.
Try the solutions shown.
Sound comes from only one
side/channel.
iPod or auxiliary cable is not
seated properly.
Make sure you’re using the
correct iPod adapter, and that
the iPod is seated all the way
into the docking station.
Make sure the auxiliary cable is
seated all the way into the jack.
Try resetting the iPod.
If you’re using a 3.5mm auxiliary
extension cable, make sure it’s a
stereo cable.
Distortion (static, crackling or
hissing sounds).
Noise may be caused by interfer-
ence from a monitor, cell phone
or other transmitting device.
Move the JBL Radial Micro away
from the devices to see if the
distortion is eliminated.
Audio source or source material
may be the problem.
Test the JBL Radial Micro with
another source.
Does the distortion occur with
specic songs?
If so, check the recording or
record the source again.
Volume level may be too high. Check volume of source. Some devices will distort the
output signal if the volume is
set to maximum.
EQ setting may be too high. Check the EQ setting on your
iPod or source device.
JBL recommends that the
source-device EQ be set to “Flat”
or “Off”.
Cable may be bad. Replace cable.
Ground loop.
Check input cable connection.

Try connecting the USB cable to
another port on the back of the
computer.
Make sure you do not have
JBL Radial Micro connected to
a USB hub or USB device.
Connect the JBL Radial Micro
directly into the computer’s
USB port.
