This product should not be used by anyone who has failed to read the operator's manual properly, is suffering from a

cold, tiredness or otherwise in poor physical condition, or children.

Keep in mind that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their prop-

erty.

Precautions for use

Loaning or assigning your product

When loaning your product to another party, ensure that the person borrowing the product receives the operator's

manual along with it.

If you assign your product to another party, please enclose the operator's manual with the product when handing it

over.

Being prepared in case of an injury

In the unlikely event of an accident or injury, please ensure that you are pre-

pared.

First aid kit

Towels and wipes (to stop any bleeding)

Whistle or mobile phone (for calling outside help)

If you are unable to perform first aid or call for outside help, the injury could

worsen.

WARNING

The area within a 15 m radius is a danger zone

The area within a 15 m radius of the product is a danger zone. Be careful to

observe the following precautions while working with the product.

Do not allow children and other people or pets to enter the danger zone.

If another person enters the danger zone, turn off the unit to stop.

When approaching the operator, signal to him by, for example, throwing

twigs from outside the danger zone, and then check that unit has been turn

off.

Any contact with the cutter blade could cause serious injury.

Avoid hot surfaces

During operation, the complete unit, especially the drive shaft housing and gear box may become very hot,

too hot to touch. Avoid contact during and immediately after operation.

You could burn yourself if you touch a high temperature component.

The product should not be used by:

people who are tired

people who have taken alcohol

people who are on medication

people who are pregnant

people who are in poor physical condition

people who have not read the operator's manual

Failure to observe these instructions could lead to an accident.

Environment of use and operation

Do not use the product in places where there is no sure foothold, such as on steep slopes or after rainfall, as such

places are slippery and dangerous.

Do not operate the product at night or in dark places with poor visibility.

Do not work in odd positions or on ladders. Do not over reach.

A serious injury could result if you fall or slip, or fail to operate the product correctly.

For your own health and your safe and comfortable work, operate the machine within the air temperature range of -

5 oC to 40 oC.

Failure to observe these instructions could result in damage to your health.

Turn off the engine when moving around

When moving around in the situations described below, turn off the engine.

Moving to the place where you are working

Moving to another area while you are working

Leaving the place where you have been working

Failure to observe these precautions could cause burns or serious injury.

When transporting the product by car, empty the fuel tank, and secure the product firmly in place to prevent it from

moving around.

Travelling by car with fuel in the tank could lead to a fire.

Keep a firm grip

Hold the front and rear handles with both hands with thumbs and fingers tightly encircling the

handles.

Failure to observe these instructions could lead to an accident.

Vibration and cold

It is believed that a condition called Raynaud's Phenomenon which affects the fingers of certain individuals may be

brought about by exposure to vibration and cold. Exposure to vibration and cold may cause tingling and burning, fol-

lowed by loss of colour and numbness in the fingers.

The following precautions are strongly recommended because the minimum exposure which might trigger the ailment

is unknown.

Keep your body warm, especially the head and neck, feet and ankles, and hands and wrists.

Maintain good blood circulation by performing vigorous arm exercises during frequent work breaks, and also by not

smoking.

Limit the number of hours of operation.

Try to fill each day with jobs where operating the trimmer or other hand-held power equipment is not required.

If you experience discomfort redness and swelling of the fingers, followed by whitening and loss of feeling, consult

your physician before exposing yourself further to cold and vibration.

Failure to observe these instructions could result in damage to your health.

Repetitive stress injuries

It is believed that over-using the muscles and tendons of the fingers, hands, arms and shoulders may cause soreness,

swelling, numbness, weakness and extreme pain to the areas just mentioned. Certain repetitive hand activities may put

you at a high risk for developing a repetitive stress injury (RSI).

To reduce the risk of RSI, do the following:

Avoid using your wrist in a bent, extended or twisted position.

Take periodic breaks to minimize repetition and rest your hands. Reduce the speed and force in which you do the

repetitive movement.

Do exercises to strengthen hand and arm muscles.

See a doctor if you feel tingling, numbness or pain in your fingers, hands, wrists or arms. The sooner RSI is diag-

nosed, the more likely permanent nerve and muscle damage can be prevented.

Failure to observe these instructions could result in damage to your health.

Proper training

Do not permit operation without proper training and protective equipment.

Be thoroughly familiar with the controls and proper use of unit.

Know how to stop the unit and shut off the engine.

Never allow anyone to use the unit without proper instruction.

Always wear the following protective gear.

a Head protection (helmet): Protects the head

b Ear muffs or ear plugs: Protect the hearing

c Safety goggles: Protect the eyes

d Face shield: Protects the face

e Safety gloves: Protect the hands from cold and vibration

f Work clothes that fit (long sleeves, long trousers): Protect the body

g Heavy duty, non-slip protective boots (with toecaps) or non-slip work shoes

(with toecaps): Protect the feet

h Shin guards: Protect the legs

Failure to observe these precautions could result in damage to your sight or hear-

ing, or lead to a serious injury.

When necessary, please use the protective gear below.

Dust mask: Protects the breathing apparatus

Bee net: To deal with attacks by bees

Wear proper clothing.

Do not wear ties, jewellery, or loose, dangling clothing which could be caught in the unit.

Do not wear open toed footwear, or go bare-foot or barelegged. In certain situations, to-

tal face and head protection may be required.

Failure to observe these precautions could result in damage to your sight or hearing, or lead

to a serious injury.

Description

1. Brushes - Permanently attached to drum holders and

come standard with 0.5 mm diameter nylon bristles. Op-

tional 0.7 mm diameter brushes are available for fine

material sweeping application.

2. Lower drive shaft assembly - Included separately in

the carton and must be assembled to the ProSweep/

gear housing assembly. Contains flexible drive cable,

outer shaft housing and safety decal.

3. Flexible drive cable - Cable end fits into drive shaft

coupler of Pro Attachment Series or Split Boom models.

Lubricate drive cable every 25 hours with high tempera-

ture automotive grease.

4. Brush gear housing assembly - Brushes come pre-

assembled to the gear housing in the carton. Brushes

rotate towards the operator viewed from the operators

position.

1. Remove vinyl cap from attachment drive shaft.

2. Place brush gear housing assembly on a flat surface with

gear housing shaft mount at 45° angle.

3. Remove gear housing locator screw (A).

4. Loosen gear housing mounting bolt (B).

The following parts are packed separately in the packing box.

When you have unpacked the box, please check the parts that it contains.

Contact your dealer if anything is missing or broken.

WARNING

Before you start

5. Position lower drive shaft (end without serial number decal)

into gear housing shaft mount.

6. Align hole in drive shaft housing with gear housing shaft hole

(C) and seat lower drive shaft end into gear housing shaft

mount.

7. Install and tighten locator screw (A).

8. Tighten gear housing mounting bolt (B).

Power head shaft/lower shaft assembly

1. Turn gear housing assembly over so that gear housing

mounting bolt (E) faces upward.

2. Pull locator pin (A) out, and turn anticlockwise 1/4 turn to

lockout position.

3. Remove cardboard spacer from coupler, if necessary.

4. Carefully fit attachment drive shaft assembly into coupler (B)

to decal assembly line (C), making sure that the inner lower

drive shaft engages upper drive shaft mount.

5. Rotate locator pin (A) 1/4 turn clockwise to engage lower

shaft hole. Insure locator pin is fully engaged by twisting low-

er drive shaft. Locator pin should snap flush in coupler. Full

engagement will prevent further shaft rotation.

6. Secure lower shaft assembly to coupler by tightening clamp-

ing knob (D).

7. To disassemble, reverse assembly instructions.

CAUTION

Thrown objects hazard. Install lower drive shaft so that gear

housing mounting bolt (E) faces upwards. Otherwise debris will

be thrown toward user.

Operation

1. Hold unit on your right side resting sweeper brushes on work

surface.

2. Firmly grasp rear grip with right hand and front handle with

left hand.

3. Position unit at an angle to the work surface well out in front

of your body.

4. Accelerate to full speed and allow brushes to push debris

ahead. Sweep to an area where debris can be piled and col-

lected.

5. Debris may be swept out and away from corners by turning

unit over to reverse brush direction. Grip unit securely using

both hands. Operate trigger lever with thumb of right hand.

For extended use, reposition front handle to allow comforta-

ble grip. Return handle to normal position for regular opera-

tion.

6. When sweeping wide areas, angle brushes to pile debris in

rows; then collect material.

7. Use an angle of 15-30º. This helps direct debris and reduces

operator fatigue.

WARNING

Moving parts can amputate fingers or cause severe injuries. Keep hands, clothing and loose objects away from all

openings.

Always turn off the unit, disconnect the spark plug wire or remove the battery, and make sure all moving parts have

come to a complete stop before removing obstructions, clearing debris, or servicing unit.

Failure to observe these instructions could lead to an accident or injury.

NOTE

When use the electric motor unit: if you first use the unit under low temperature after purchase, it may not operate smoothly

in rare instances. This phenomenon does not indicate a product failure. In this case, condition the unit to room temperature

(normal temperature), and turn on and off power to the unit repeatedly before use.

WARNING

The sweeper brushes rotate towards the operator. Do not

operate unit at an angle with brushes close to your body

which could result in loss of control and possible serious

injury.

IMPORTANT

When use the engine: extended use of unit at low throttle set-

tings could cause damage to clutch because of clutch slipping.

WARNING

Turning unit over to reverse sweeper drum rotation will

cause debris to be swept toward operator. Reduce speed,

and be alert for unstable footing caused by loose debris.

Lubrication

Gear housing

1. Clean all loose debris from gear housing.

2. Remove screw plug (A) and check level of grease.

3. Add grease if necessary. Do not over fill.

4. Install screw plug (A).

Drive shaft assembly

1. Remove gear housing locator screw (A).

2. Loosen gear housing mounting bolt (B).

3. Pull gear box from drive shaft housing.

WARNING

Moving parts can amputate fingers or cause severe injuries. Keep hands, clothing and loose objects away from all

openings. Always stop the unit, disconnect the spark plug wire or remove the battery, and make sure all moving parts

have come to a complete stop before removing obstructions, clearing debris, or servicing unit. Allow unit to cool before

performing service. Wear gloves to protect hands from sharp edges and hot surfaces.

IMPORTANT

Time intervals are maximum. Actual use and your experience will determine the frequency of required maintenance.

IMPORTANT

Lower and upper drive shaft must be lubricated with grease

every 25 hours of operation, otherwise drive shaft assembly

overheating and failure can result.

4. Pull flexible cable from the drive shaft housing, wipe clean

and re-coat with a thin coating 15 ml of Lithium based

grease.

5. Slide the flexible cable back in the drive housing. Do not get

dirt on the flex cable.

6. Position lower drive shaft (end without safety decal) into gear

housing shaft mount.

7. Align hole in drive shaft housing with gear housing shaft hole

(C), and seat lower drive shaft end into gear housing shaft

mount.

8. Install and tighten locator screw (A).

9. Tighten gear housing mounting bolt (B).

Brush replacement

Brushes that are broken off, deformed, or worn to within 25.4 mm

of the brush holder drum should be replaced for best sweeping

efficiency.

1. Locate brush holder access hole (A) near outer drum end.

2. Hold 8 mm nut (B) from turning with open end wrench insert-

ed through drum holder cap.

3. Loosen and remove bolt and lock nut with cross head screw-

driver through holder access hole (A).

4. Remove drum cap (C). Slide brush holder drum off square

axle shaft.

5. Install new brush holder drum, aligning hole (A) in drum axle

with axle shaft hole.

6. Install drum cap, aligning cap holes with axle shaft and brush

holder drum holes.

7. Install bolt and locknut. Tighten securely.

Storage

1. Clean this attachment bristles with water.

2. Apply thin coating of oil to metal parts to prevent rust.

3. Lubricate lower shaft assembly with grease.

4. Store this attachment in a dry place out of reach of children.

Do not store attachment with the weight resting on brushes

which could bend over a long period of time. Store attach-

ment with lower shaft housing in a horizontal or vertical po-

sition to prevent grease loss from open shaft end.

Storage hook installation

1. Insert small end of hook into locating hole on attachment

shaft.

2. Slide plastic cap onto end of attachment shaft.

IMPORTANT

Do not immerse this attachment in water. Water will enter gear

housing and damage gears, bearings and seals.
