The recharging time may vary according to the
ambient temperature.
If charging takes a long time
Charging will take longer at extremely low ambient
temperatures. Charge the battery in a warm
location (such as indoors).
Do not block the air vent. Otherwise the interior will
overheat, reducing the chargers performance.
If the cooling fan is not operating, contact a
metabo HPT Authorized Service Center for
repairs.
4. Disconnect battery charger from the receptacle.
CAUTION
Do not pull the plug out of the receptacle by
pulling on the cord.
Make sure to grasp the plug when removing from
receptacle to avoid damaging cord.
5. Remove the battery from the battery charger.
Supporting the battery charger with hand, pull out the
battery from the battery charger.
NOTE
Be sure to pull out the battery from the battery charger
after use, and then keep it.
Regarding electric discharge in case of new
batteries, etc.
As the internal chemical substance of new batteries
and batteries that have not been used for an extended
period is not activated, the electric discharge might
be low when using them the rst and second time.
This is a temporary phenomenon, and normal time
required for recharging will be restored by recharging
the batteries 2–3 times.

How to make the batteries perform longer
(1) Recharge the batteries before they become
completely exhausted.
When you feel that the power of the tool becomes
weaker, stop using the tool and recharge its battery.
If you continue to use the tool and exhaust the electric
current, the battery may be damaged and its life will
become shorter.
(2) Avoid recharging at high temperatures.
A rechargeable battery will be hot immediately after
use. If such a battery is recharged immediately after
use, its internal chemical substance will deteriorate,
and the battery life will be shortened. Leave the
battery and recharge it after it has cooled for a while.

English
<USB device charging stops midway>
Charging stops for approximately ve seconds to
allow the power supply to be detected under the
following conditions: if the battery charger power plug
is plugged in while charging a USB device from the
battery, or if a rechargeable battery is inserted while
charging a USB device from the battery charger.
USB charging stops for ve seconds so that checking
can be performed once the rechargeable battery has
been fully charged.
If the rechargeable battery level is extremely low,
charging the rechargeable battery takes priority, and
USB charging is temporarily stopped. USB charging
automatically resumes once the battery level has
reached a preset level.
BEFORE USE
Check the work area to make sure that it is clear of debris
and clutter.
Clear the area of unnecessary personnel. Ensure that
lighting and ventilation is adequate.

When the change lever is set to “1”, the drill rotates at
a low speed. When set to “2, the drill rotates at a high
speed.
CAUTION
When changing the rotational speed with the
change lever, con rm that the switch is o .
Changing the speed while the motor is rotating
will damage the gears.
When a large force is required for operation set
the change lever to “1”. If “2” is set and the unit
is used, it may cause the motor to burn out or
malfunction prematurely.
To operate the change lever, press the push
button, and release the lock of the change lever.
Also, check and make sure after operation
that the push button has returned and that the
change lever has been locked.
Switch the change lever without mistake.
If it is used at a position halfway, there is a fear
that the service life of the switching mechanism
may be shortened.
6. Con rm that the battery is mounted correctly.
CAUTION
Until the battery locks in place with a little click,
if not, it may accidentally fall out of the tool
causing injury to you or someone around you.
7. Switch operation
When the trigger switch is depressed, the tool rotates.
When the trigger is released, the tool stops.
When releasing the trigger of the switch, the brake will
be applied for immediate stopping.
The rotational speed of the drill can be controlled by
varying the amount that the trigger switch is pulled.
Speed is low when the trigger switch is pulled slightly
and increases as the trigger switch is pulled more.
CAUTION
The motor rotation may be locked to cease while
the unit is used as drill. While operating the angle
drill, take care not to lock the motor.
If the motor is locked, immediately turn the power
o . If the motor is locked for a while, the motor or
battery may be burnt.
A buzzing noise is produced when the motor
is about to rotate; This is only a noise, not a
machine failure.
CAUTION
Do not apply excessive force during operation.
Doing so will not only damage the tip of the drill
bit, but also reduce the service life of the power
tool.
When drilling holes with a hole saw, the larger
the diameter is, the larger the reactive force
applied to your arm becomes.
To prevent loss of control from the reactive
force, ensure that you have rm footing, support
the tool rmly with both hands, and drill holes
perpendicular to the drilled material.
Pressing with excessive force or prying can
cause loss of control from the reactive force,
which may damage the blade tip of the hole saw
or result in injury. Additionally, doing so makes
the tool more likely to be stopped by the overload
protection.
15
English
Drill bits may snap o while withdrawing from
the drilled hole. When withdrawing, relax the
force with which you press the tool against the
material.
8. How to use the LED light
While the switch is pulled, the LED light will
automatically light up the tip portion of the tool.
(Fig. 15)
The LED light will automatically turn o 10 seconds
after the switch is released.
The LED light also functions as a warning signal that
lights up during use.
For details, see “10. LED light warning signals.

CAUTION
Do not expose directly your eye to the light by
looking into the light.
If your eye is continuously exposed to the light,
your eye will be hurt.
Wipe o any dirt or grime attached to the lens of
the LED light with a soft cloth, being careful not
to scratch the lens.
Scratches on the lens of the LED light can result
in decreased brightness.
9. Reactive force control
This product is equipped with a Reactive Force
Control (RFC) feature that reduces jerking of the tool
body.
If the tool bit is suddenly overburdened, any jerking of
the tool body is reduced by activation of the slip clutch
or by stopping of the motor by the sensor built into the
tool body.
If the motor is stopped because of overburdening
detection by the controller, the LED light will blink
while the switch is pulled. The motor will remain
stopped while the lamp is blinking. (Fig. 16)
NOTE
RFC may not always activate under certain working
conditions or situations.
When working, ensure that the material is securely
placed and fastened, hold the tool body securely, and
be su ciently careful not to suddenly apply a large
load to the tool tip.
Take care to hold the tool rmly to prevent any jerking
motion.
Possible causes of sudden overburdening
Tool bit biting into material
Impact against nails, metal or other hard objects
Tasks involving prying or any excess application of
pressure, etc.
Also, other causes include any combination of the
aforementioned.
When the reactive force control (RFC) is triggered
When the RFC is triggered and the motor stops, turn
o the tool’s switch and remove the cause of the
overburdening before continuing operation.

HOW TO USE
WARNING
To prevent accidents, make sure to turn the
switch o and disconnect the battery when the
drill bits and other various parts are installed
or removed. The power switch should also be
turned o during a work break and after work.
CAUTION
To extend the lifetime, the lithium-ion battery
equips with the protection function to stop the
output. Therefore, if the tool is overloaded, the
motor may stop. However, this is not the trouble
but the result of protection function. In this case,
release the switch of tool and eliminate the
causes of overloading.

English
1. Fixing the body in place
If a load is applied to the bit when drilling holes, the
tool may be pushed out of control in the opposite
direction by recoil.
To reduce the load applied to the bit, use a well-
sharpened bit that is appropriate for the type of work.
Place the bit straight against the surface to be drilled.
Try to avoid drilling holes in wood that is bent, damp,
or has many knots. Also, ensure that there are no nails
or other metal objects inside the wood.
When drilling existing holes to make them larger, or
when the bit goes all the way through the material, be
careful as a load may be applied to the bit.
Placing the side handle against a pillar, etc. while
working can prevent the tool body from jerking out of
control. (Fig. 18)

2. Slip clutch
During work, the slip clutch activates when a
large load is suddenly applied, which causes the
transmission between the motor and the bit to slip,
and the bit rotation stops. If this feature activates and
the drill rotation stops, quickly stop the switch.
NOTE
The slip clutch only activates when the change lever is
in low speed (“1”).
OPERATIONAL CAUTIONS
1. Resting the unit after continuous work
(1) The power tool is equipped with a temperature
protection circuit to protect the motor.
Continuous drilling or tightening wood screw work may
cause the temperature of the unit to rise, activating
the temperature protection circuit and automatically
stopping operation.
If this happens, allow the power tool to cool before
resuming use.
(2) After use for continuous tightening wood screw works,
rest the unit for 15 minutes or so when replacing the
battery. The temperature of the motor, switch, etc.,
will rise if the work is started again immediately after
battery replacement, eventually resulting in burnout.

MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION
WARNING
Pull out battery before doing any inspection or maintenance.
1. Checking the condition of the bit
The bits should be checked regularly. If worn or
broken bits can slip or decrease the e ciency of the
motor and burn it out.
Replace worn bits with new ones.
CAUTION
If you use a driver bit of which point is worn or
broken, it will be dangerous since it slips. So
replace it with a new one.
2. Check the Screws
Loose screws are dangerous. Regularly inspect them
and make sure they are tight.
CAUTION
Using this power tool with loosened, screws is
extremely dangerous.
3. Inspection of terminals (tool and battery)
Check to make sure that swarf and dust have not
collected on the terminals.
On occasion check prior, during and after operation.
CAUTION
Remove any swarf or dust which may have
collected on the terminals.
Failure to do so may result in malfunction.
4. Check for Dust
Dust may be removed with a soft cloth or a cloth
dampened with soapy water.
Do not use bleach, chlorine, gasoline or thinner, for
they may damage the plastics.
5. Disposal of the exhausted battery
WARNING
Do not dispose of the exhausted battery. The
battery must explode if it is incinerated. The
product that you have purchased contains a
rechargeable battery. The battery is recyclable.
At the end of it’s useful life, under various state
and local laws, it may be illegal to dispose of this
battery into the municipal waste stream. Check
with your local solid waste o cials for details
in your area for recycling options or proper
disposal.
6. Maintenance of the motor
The motor unit winding is the very “heart” of the power
tool.
Exercise due care to ensure the winding does not
become damaged and/or wet with oil or water.
7. Storage
Store the power tool and battery in a place in which
the temperature is less than 104°F (40°C) and out of
reach of children.
NOTE
Storing lithium-ion batteries
Make sure the lithium-ion batteries have been fully
charged before storing them.
Prolonged storage (3 months or more) of batteries with
a low charge may result in performance deterioration,
signi cantly reducing battery usage time or rendering
the batteries incapable of holding a charge.
However, signi cantly reduced battery usage time
may be recovered by repeatedly charging and using
the batteries two to ve times.
If the battery usage time is extremely short despite
repeated charging and use, consider the batteries
dead and purchase new batteries.
8. Service and repairs
