Replacing the interface board

The interface board is an option for the printer TSP
700
/
800 series and reader/writer TCP300 series.
Refer to the User’s Manual that accompanied the main unit for directions to replace the interface
board on the TCP300 series.
The following describe the procedures to replace the board for the TSP700/TSP800 series printers.

Replacement
1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged.
2. Remove the 2 screws.
3. Remove the interface board unit in the direction of the arrow.
4. Slide the new interface board in until it is firmly seated.
Note: Insert the interface board so that it connects with the connector.
5. Secure the interface board using the two screws.
6. Once the interface board has been connected, perform a self-print test before connecting the USB cable.
Also make sure that the printer recognizes the interface board.
Recognized: Prints “Interface: USB”.
7. Note that the USB cable is not provided. Please use a cable that matches the specifications. Affix the
ferrite core onto the USB cable as shown in the illustration below and make sure to pass the cable through
the cable support as shown in the illustration.
8. A STAR USB Printer Driver Set is needed for using the USB interface on Windows 98 or 98SE .

9. There are two selectable USB modes for TSP700 Ver. 3.2 or later and TSP800 Ver. 4.3 or later. Set the
DIP switches on the printer according to the USB mode you use. Refer to the table below to make your
settings.
