serverchassis.Verifythatintheserverchassisthecableconnectionsarecorrectand
thettingsareinstalledsecurely.
4.Removetheexternalplug-indevices.
5.Installthecoverplateoftheserverchassisandpowercable,andthenpoweronthe
serveragain.
3.3MonitorDisplaysNothing
Symptom
Theserversystemispoweredon,thehostisoperatingproperly,butthemonitordisplays
nothing.
ProbableCause
Thesignalcableisnotconnectedorsetincorrectly.
Action
1.Verifythatthesignalcableandthepowercableofthemonitorareconnectedproperly
andsecured.
2.Verifythatthemonitoristurnedon.
3.Adjustthecontrastandlightnessofthemonitor.
4.Turnofftheserversystem,disconnectthepowercable,andthenverifythatthepins
ofthesignalcableplugthatisconnectedtothehostarebent.
5.Replacethemonitorwithanothermonitorfortesting.
3.4KeyboardandMouseCannotOperate
Symptom
Theserversystemispoweredon,thehostisoperatingproperly,butthekeyboardand
mousefailtooperate.
ProbableCause
Themouseandkeyboardarenotconnectedorsetincorrectly.

1.Verifythatthecablesofthemouseandkeyboardareconnectedproperly.

tothesamebootmodeinwhichyouinstalledtheoperatingsystem.
Forallotherstartupfailures,notethesystemmessagesdisplayedonthescreen.
3.6TroubleshootingPowerSupplies
Note:
Atleastonepowersupplymustbeinstalledfornormalsystemoperation.Afterapower
supplyisinstalled,waitforseveralminutesforthesystemtoidentifythispowersupply.
1.Identifyafaultypowersupplybyusingthefaultindicatoronthispowersupply.
2.Removeandinstallthepowersupplyagain.Ifthefaultpersists,replacethispower
supply.
3.7TroubleshootingCoolingFans
1.Openthecabinetcoverplate.
2.LocatethefaultyfanindicatedbytheESM.
3.Re-installthefanorthefan'spowercable.
Note:
Waitforatleast30secondsforthesystemtoidentifythefananddeterminewhether
itisoperatingproperly.
4.Ifthefaultpersists,replacethefaultyfanwithasparefan.

Runtheappropriatediagnostictest.Dependingontheresultsofthediagnosticstest,
performthefollowingsteps:
1.Restartthesystem,andpressF10duringsystemstartuptoruntheLifecycle
Controller,andthenruntheHardwareCongurationwizardtochecktheRAID
conguration.
2.EnsurethattheharddriveshavebeenconguredcorrectlyfortheRAIDarray.Ifa
harddriveintheRAIDisfaulty,keeptheharddriveofineandresetthedrive.
3.Exitthecongurationutilityandallowthesystemtoboottotheoperatingsystem.
4.Ensurethattherequireddevicedriversareinstalledandconguredcorrectly.
5.VerifythatthecontrollerisenabledandthedrivesaredisplayedintheSystemSetup.
3.9TroubleshootingExpansionCards
Runtheappropriatediagnostictest.Dependingontheresultsofthediagnosticstest,
performthefollowingsteps:
1.Turnoffthesystemanditsperipherals,anddisconnectthesystemfromthepower
source.
2.Openthecabinetcoverplate.
3.Ensurethateachexpansioncardisrmlyinstalledinitsconnector.
4.Closethecabinetcoverplate,andpoweronthesystem.
5.Ifthefaultpersists,openthecabinetcoverplate,removeallexpansioncards,and
theninstallthemagain.
6.Closethecabinetcoverplate.
