Use this unit only in the manner intended by the
manufacturer. If you have questions, contact the
manufacturer.
Before servicing or cleaning the unit, switch power off at
service panel and lock the service disconnecting means to
prevent power from being switched on accidentally. When
the service disconnecting means cannot be locked,
securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag,
to the service panel.
Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by
qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes
and standards, including fire-rated construction.
Do not operate any fan with a damaged cord or plug.
Discard fan or return to an authorized service facility for
examination and/or repair.
Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and
exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel
burning equipment to prevent backdrafting. Follow the
heating equipment manufacturer's guideline and safety
standards such as those published by the National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA), the American Society for
Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers
(ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.
When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling; do not damage
electrical wiring and other utilities.
Ducted fans must always be vented outdoors.
CAUTION: For general ventilating use only. Do not use
to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors.
CAUTION: To reduce risk of fire and to properly exhaust
air, be sure to duct air outside - do not vent exhaust air into
spaces within walls or ceilings, attics or into crawl spaces,
or garages.

GREASE FIRE:
Never leave surface units unattended at high settings.
Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may
ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or medium settings.
Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat or when
flambeing food (i.e. Crepes Suzette, Cherries Jubilee,
Peppercorn Beef Flambé).
Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be
allowed to accumulate on fan or filter.
Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for
the size of the surface element.

FIRE, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:

SMOTHER FLAMES with a close fitting lid, cookie sheet, or
metal tray, then turn off the burner. BE CAREFUL TO
PREVENT BURNS. If the flames do not go out
immediately, EVACUATE AND CALL THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT.
NEVER PICK UP A FLAMING PAN - you may be burned.
DO NOT USE WATER, including wet dishcloths or towels -
a violent steam explosion will result.
Use an extinguisher ONLY if:
– You know you have a class ABC extinguisher, and you
already know how to operate it.
– The fire is small and contained in the area where it
started.
– The fire department is being called.
– You can fight the fire with your back to an exit.

Location Requirements
IMPORTANT: Observe all governing codes and ordinances.
It is the installer’s responsibility to comply with installation
clearances specified on the model/serial rating plate. The
model/serial rating plate is located inside the range hood on
the left wall.
Range hood location should be away from strong draft areas,
such as windows, doors and strong heating vents.
Cabinet opening dimensions that are shown must be used.
Given dimensions provide minimum clearance. Consult the
cooktop/range manufacturer installation instructions before
making any cutouts.
This range hood is recommended for use with cooktop with a
maximum total rating of 65,000 BTUs or less.
Grounded electrical outlet is required. See “Electrical
Requirements” section.
The range hood is factory-set for vented installations. For
non-vented (recirculating) installations, the Recirculation Kit is
W10490330. Replacement Charcoal Filters Part Number is
W10272068. See the “Assistance or Service” section to
order.
All openings in ceiling and wall where range hood will be
installed must be sealed.
For Mobile Home Installations
The installation of this range hood must conform to the
Manufactured Home Construction Safety Standards, Title 24
CFR, Part 328 (formerly the Federal Standard for Mobile Home
Construction and Safety, title 24, HUD, Part 280) or when such
standard is not applicable, the standard for Manufactured Home
Installation 1982 (Manufactured Home Sites, Communities and
Setups) ANSI A225.1/NFPA 501A, or latest edition, or with local
codes.

Installation Clearances
Venting Requirements
(Vented Models Only)
Vent system must terminate to the outdoors, except for non-
vented (recirculating) installations.
Do not terminate the vent system in an attic or other enclosed
area.
Do not use a 4" (10.2 cm) laundry-type wall cap.
Use a 6" (15.2 cm) round metal vent or a 3¹⁄₄" x 10" (8.3 x
25.4 cm) rectangular metal vent. Rigid metal vent is
recommended. Plastic or metal foil vent is not recommended.
The length of vent system and number of elbows should be
kept to a minimum to provide efficient performance.
For the most efficient and quiet operation:
Use no more than three 90° elbows.
Make sure there is a minimum of 24" (61 cm) of straight vent
between the elbows if more than 1 elbow is used.
Do not install 2 elbows together.
Use clamps to seal all joints in the vent system.
The vent system must have a damper. If roof or wall cap has a
damper, do not use damper supplied with the range hood.
Use caulking to seal exterior wall or roof opening around the
cap.
Cold Weather Installations
An additional back draft damper should be installed to minimize
backward cold air flow and a thermal break should be installed to
minimize conduction of outside temperatures as part of the vent
system. The damper should be on the cold air side of the thermal
break.
The break should be as close as possible to where the vent
system enters the heated portion of the house.
Makeup Air
Local building codes may require the use of makeup air systems
when using ventilation systems greater than specified CFM of air
movement. The specified CFM varies from locale to locale.
Consult your HVAC professional for specific requirements in your
area.
Venting Methods
The vent system for venting out of the top of range hood can be
terminated either through the roof or wall. Use a 6" (15.2 cm)
round vent. The vent system for venting out the rear of the range
hood must be terminated through the wall. Use a 3³⁄₄" x 10" (8.3 x
25.4 cm) rectangular vent. For rear venting the Damper Assembly
Kit is required. See “Assistance or Service” section to order.
NOTE: Flexible vent is not recommended. Flexible vent creates
back pressure and air turbulence that gently reduces
performance.

Calculating Vent System Length
To calculate the length of the system you need, add the
equivalent feet (meters) for each vent piece used in the system.

Non-Vented (recirculating) Installations Through the Soffit/
Cabinet
If it is not possible to vent cooking fumes and vapors to the
outside, the range hood can be used in the non-vented
(recirculating) version, using a recirculation kit. The recirculation
kit Part Number is W10490330. See “Assistance or Service”
section to order.
For non-vented (recirculating) installations only, the range hood
can be vented indoors through the top of the cabinet or soffit.
NOTE: 12" (30.5 cm) high cabinets without a soffit may allow the
6" (15.2 cm) vent and vent cover to be seen.

Electrical Requirements
Observe all governing codes and ordinances.
Ensure that the electrical installation is adequate and in
conformance with National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 (latest
edition), or CSA Standards C22.1-94, Canadian Electrical Code,
Part 1 and C22.2 No. 0-M91 (latest edition) and all local codes
and ordinances.
If codes permit and a separate ground wire is used, it is
recommended that a qualified electrician determine that the
ground path is adequate.

A 120 volt, 60 Hz., AC only, 15-amp, fused electrical circuit is
required.
If the house has aluminum wiring, follow the procedure
below:
1. Connect a section of solid copper wire to the pigtail
leads.
2. Connect the aluminum wiring to the added section of
copper wire using special connectors and/or tools
designed and UL listed for joining copper to aluminum.
Follow the electrical connector manufacturer's recommended
procedure. Aluminum/copper connection must conform with
local codes and industry accepted wiring practices.
Wire sizes and connections must conform with the rating of
the appliance as specified on the model/serial rating plate.
The model/serial plate is located behind the filter on the rear
wall of the range hood.
Wire sizes must conform to the requirements of the National
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 (latest edition), or CSA
Standards C22. 1-94, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 and
C22.2 No. 0-M91 (latest edition) and all local codes and
ordinances.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare Location
NOTE: For vented installations, it is recommended that the vent
system be installed before the hood is installed.
Before making cutouts, make sure there is proper clearance
within the ceiling or wall for exhaust vent.
NOTE: The exhaust adapter/damper can be installed up to 1"
(2.5 cm) on either side of the hood center to accommodate off-
center ductwork.
1. Disconnect power.
2. Determine which venting method to use: roof or wall.
NOTE: For rear venting a Damper Assembly Kit must be used.
See “Assistance or Service” section to order.
3. Select a flat surface for assembling the range hood. Place
covering over that surface.
4. Using 2 or more people, lift the range hood and set it upside
down onto covered surface.
5. If cabinet has recessed bottom, add wood filler strips on each
side. Install screws to attach filler strips in locations shown.
Determine Wiring Hole Location
Cut only one 1¹⁄₄" (3.2 cm) diameter wiring access hole. See
Step 2 for wiring hole location instructions.
1. Determine and clearly mark a vertical centerline on the wall
and cabinet in the area the vent opening will be made.
2. To wire through top:
Mark a line distance “A” from the left of the centerline on the
underside of the cabinet. Mark the point on this line that is
2" (5.1 cm) from back wall. Drill a 1¼" (3.2 cm) diameter hole
through the cabinet at this point.

3. To wire through wall:

Rectangular Vent System
Wall Venting
To make a 4" x 10½" (10.2 cm x 26.7 cm) rectangle in the wall:
1. Make 2 lines by measuring 2³⁄₄" (7.0 cm) and 6³⁄₄" (17.1 cm)
down from underside of cabinet and mark on the centerline
on the back wall.
2. Mark lines 5¼" (13.3 cm) to the right and left of the centerline
on the wall.
3. Use saber or keyhole saw to cut a rectangular opening in the
wall for the vent.
Style 2 - Cut Openings for Rectangular to 6" (15.2 cm)
Round Vent Transition
Roof Venting and non - vented (recirculating)
To make a 6½" x 8½" (16.5 cm x 26.7 cm) rectangular cutout
on the underside of cabinet bottom:
1. Mark lines ½" (1.3 cm) and 7" (17.8 cm) from the back wall on
the centerline of the underside of cabinet.
2. Mark lines 4¼" (10.8 cm) to the right and left of the centerline
on the underside of cabinet.
3.
Use saber or keyhole saw to cut a rectangular opening for vent.
To make a circular vent opening on the underside of the
cabinet top:
1. Mark a centerline on the underside of the top of cabinet.
2. Mark a line 3³⁄₄" (9.5 cm) from the back wall on the underside
of the top of cabinet.
3. Use a compass or a circle template to draw a 6¼" (15.2 cm)
circle.
4. Use saber or keyhole saw to cut the circular vent opening.
Non-Vented (recirculating) Installation Through the
Soffit/Cabinet
Measure and mark the centerline of the cabinet to the soffit
above.
Measure from the bottom of the cabinet to the centerline of
the where the vent will come through the soffit. Mark the
location and use a saber saw or keyhole saw to cut a 5¾"
(14.6 cm) hole for the vent cover.
Install Vent System
1. Install vent through the vent opening in cabinet or wall.
Complete venting system according to the selected venting
method. See “Venting Requirements” section.
2. Use caulking to seal exterior wall or roof opening around the
cap.
Install In-Line Smart Kit - Optional
NOTE: Your range hood can work with either an internal or an in-
line (external) blower motor system. An optional In-Line Smart Kit
(purchased separately) allows the blower motor that comes with
this range hood to be installed in a location other than inside the
range hood cavity.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, install this
range hood only with the In-Line Smart Kit manufactured by
Whirlpool, Part Number W10692945.
For installation see the In-Line Smart Kit installation instructions.

Install Range Hood
1.
Remove the grease filters. See the “Range Hood Care” section.
2. Remove foam shipping pad from behind the blower motor.
3. Lift the range hood up under cabinet and determine final
location by centering beneath cabinet. Mark on the underside
of cabinet the location of the 4 keyhole mounting slots on the
range hood. Set range hood aside on a covered surface.
4. Use ¹⁄₈" (3 mm) drill bit and drill 4 pilot holes as shown.
5. Install the 4 - 4.5 x 13 mm mounting screws in pilot holes.
Leave about ¹⁄₄" (6.4 mm) space between screw heads and
cabinet to slide range hood into place.
Vent Connector Installation
Determine whether the range hood will be installed using either a
top or rear vent connection.
Top Vent Connector Installation
1. Remove the top vent knockout.
2. Attach the round vent transition damper using 2 vent
transition mounting screws.
3. Remove tape from damper flap
Rear Vent Connector Installation
NOTE: For rear venting, the blower motor position must be
changed.
1. Remove the rear vent knockout.
2. Attach the rectangular vent damper (purchased separately,
see “Assistance or Service” section to order) using 3 vent
transition mounting screws. Make sure the vent damper pivot
is nearest to the top back edge of the range hood.
NOTE: If the wall cap is directly behind the vent connector, the
dampers in the connector and wall cap must not interfere.
Remove the vent connector damper if they interfere.
3. Place range hood on its back.
4. Using a T10 Torx adapter, remove the 8 screws holding the
bottom panel assembly in place. Remove the bottom panel
assembly and set it aside.
5. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector from the
electrical box connector.
6. Using a T10 Torx adapter, remove the 4 screws from the
motor cover plate. Remove the motor cover plate and set it
aside.

7. Remove the rear insulation panel and set it aside.
8. Using a T20 Torx adapter, remove the 4 screws holding the
blower motor in place. Push up on the blower motor to
disengage the tabs from range hood cavity back. Remove the
blower motor and set it aside.
9. Install the blower motor onto the rear motor mounting bracket
(purchased separately; see “Accessories or Service” section
to order). Engage the motor mounting tabs into keyhole slots
in rear mounting bracket and push down to secure. Install the
4 screws removed in Step 7 and tighten to secure motor
bracket.
10. Install the blower motor assembly into the range hood and
secure with the 4 screws supplied with rear motor mounting
bracket assembly.
11. Reconnect blower motor electrical connector to the electrical
box connector.
12. Reinstall the rear insulating panel.
13. Reinstall the motor cover plate to range hood using the 4
screws removed in Step 3.
14. Reinstall bottom panels assembly to range hood using the 8
screws removed in Step 2.
Install Range Hood to Cabinet
1. Remove the round knockout from the top or back of the
range hood (depending on your wiring location) for the
wiring strain relief and install a ¹⁄₂" UL listed or CSA
approved strain relief.
2. Using 2 people, lift range hood into final location. Feed
enough electrical wire through the strain relief to make
connections in the terminal box. Tighten the strain relief
screws.
3. Position the range hood so that the large end of the keyhole
slots are over the mounting screws. Then push the hood
toward the wall so that the screws are in the neck of the slots.
The hood should be against the wall. Tighten the mounting
screws, making sure mounting screws are in the narrow neck
of the slots.
4. Check that damper, if used, rotates up and down freely.
5. Connect ventwork to hood. Seal joints with clamps to make
secure and airtight.

Make Electrical Connection
1. Disconnect power.
2. Use UL listed wire connectors and connect the black wires
(B) together.
3. Use UL listed wire connectors and connect the white wires
(A) together.
4. Connect green (or bare) ground wire from home power supply
to the yellow-green ground wire (D) in the terminal box using
UL listed wire connector.
5. Install terminal box cover.
6. Reconnect power.
Optional Power Cord Kit Installations
For optional power cord kit installations, follow the instructions
supplied with the power cord kit. See the “Assistance or Service”
section for information on ordering.
NOTE: Use only with range hood cord connection kits that have
been investigated and found acceptable for use with this model
range hood.
Complete Installation
1. Replace grease filters. See the “Range Hood Care” section.
2. Check the operation of the range hood fan and lights. See
“Range Hood Use” section.
If range hood does not operate, check to see whether a
circuit breaker has tripped or a household fuse has blown.
Disconnect power and check wiring connections.
NOTE: To get the most efficient use from your new range hood,
read the “Range Hood Use” section.

RANGE HOOD USE
The range hood is designed to remove smoke, cooking vapors and
odors from the cooktop area. For best results, start the hood before
cooking and allow it to operate several minutes after the cooking is
complete to clear all smoke and odors from the kitchen.
The hood controls are located on the center of the range hood.
Control Panel
Display
Grease Filter Saturation Alarm
After 30 hours of fan function, the display will show “Clean
Grease Filter” when the fan is active. When this icon shows in the
display, the installed grease filters should be washed. See the
“Range Hood Care” section.
To reset the grease filter saturation alarm, press and hold the
Power Increase button for 5 seconds. The “Clean Grease
Filter” icon will no longer be displayed.
Charcoal Filter Saturation Alarm
After 120 hours of fan function, the display will show “Replace
Charcoal Filter” when the fan is active. When this icon shows in
the display, the charcoal filters should be replaced. See the
“Range Hood Care” section.
To reset the charcoal filter saturation alarm, press and hold
the Power Decrease button for 5 seconds. The “Replace
Charcoal Filter” icon will no longer be displayed.
Audible Signal Activation and Deactivation
The audible signals can be activated or deactivated by pressing
the “Light” button for 5 seconds.
If the audible signal is activated, a tone will sound, and “Snd”
symbol will appear in the display for 3 seconds.
If the audible signal is deactivated, the “Snd” symbol will
appear on the display for 3 seconds.
Charcoal Filter (Recirculation Accessory) Inclusion and
Exclusion
When the charcoal filter is in use (recirculating mode), press and
hold the Power Decrease and Power Increase buttons at the same
time for 5 seconds. “Able” will appear in the display for 3 seconds.
If the charcoal filter is not used (vented mode), press and hold the
Power Decrease and Power Increase buttons at the same time
for 5 seconds. “None” will appear in the display for 3 seconds.
When the charcoal filter has been excluded, the charcoal filter
alarm is disabled.
The inclusion or exclusion of the charcoal filter must be
selected while the lights and the fan motor are Off.
Heat Sensor
The control is equipped with a heat sensor that will turn on the
blower to the highest speed if excessive heat occurs around the
control area.
If the blower is On or Off, the blower will automatically set to
the highest speed. “Auto” will appear in the display to
indicate that the heat sensor has detected excessive heat.
When the blower is operating due to excessive heat detected
by the heat sensor, the blower speed cannot be decreased.
When the temperature level on the hood drops to normal, the
blower will return to its setting before the excessive heat was
sensed.
Light
To operate the light:
1. Press the Light button to turn the lights on.
2. Press the Light button again to turn the lights off.
Timer
The timer can be set from 1 to 60 minutes. The default timer
setting is 10 minutes.
To use the timer:
1. Press the Timer button to enter the timer mode. After
5 seconds the default time will be automatically selected.
2. Press the Power Decrease and Power Increase buttons while
the display is flashing (5 seconds) to adjust to the desired
time. Pressing the timer button again or waiting 5 seconds
after selecting the desired time will start the timer countdown.
3. The timer can be canceled at any time by pressing the Timer
button again.
NOTE: During the timer setup, the Power Decrease and Power
Increase buttons are dedicated to the timer. After the timer starts,
the Power Decrease and Power Increase buttons can be used for
other functions.
Fan Speed

This button is used to turn the fan On or increase the fan speed.
The fan will turn On if the Power Increase button is pressed
and the hood was Off.
An audible tone will sound when the fan reaches its highest
speed.

Power Decrease/Off
This button is used to turn the fan Off or to decrease the fan
speed.
Timed Fan Off
The control has a “Timed Fan Off” feature. When activated, it
automatically turns the blower fan off after 10 minutes.
Press and hold the Timer button for 5 seconds to activate.
The fan icon will flash and 10:00 (10 minutes) will show in the
display. The time will start counting down after 3 seconds.
RANGE HOOD CARE
Cleaning
IMPORTANT: Clean the hood and grease filters frequently
according to the following instructions. Replace grease filters
before operating hood.
Exterior Surfaces:
To avoid damage to the exterior surface, do not use steel wool or
soap-filled scouring pads.
Always wipe dry to avoid water marks.
Cleaning Method:
Liquid detergent soap and water, or all-purpose cleanser
Wipe with damp soft cloth or nonabrasive sponge, then rinse
with clean water and wipe dry.
Metal Grease Filter:
1. Open the stainless steel panel. Grasp panel at the front
corners and pull down to disengage the 2 catch pins from the
spring catches. The panel is attached at the rear and will
rotate down.
2. Remove each filter by pulling the spring release handle and
then pulling down the filter.
3. Wash metal filters as needed in dishwasher or hot detergent
solution.
4. Reinstall the filter by making sure the spring release handles
are toward the front. Insert aluminum filter into upper track.
5. Push in spring release handle.
6. Push up on metal filter and release handle to latch into place.
7. Repeat steps 1-5 for the other filter.
8. Close the stainless steel panel. Engage the (2) pins in the
spring catches to secure.
Non-Vented (Recirculating) Installation Filters
The charcoal filter is not washable. It should last up to 6 months
with normal use. Replace with Charcoal Filter Kit Number
W10272068.
To Replace Charcoal Filter:
1. Cover the grille that covers the blower motor with the
charcoal filter so that the slots on the filter correspond to the
pins on the sides of the motor grille.
2. Turn the charcoal filter clockwise to lock it.
3. Repeat steps 1-2 on the other filter.
Replacing a LED Lamp
The LED lights are replaceable by a service technician only. See
“Assistance and Service” section for service contact information.

For one year from the date of purchase, when this major
appliance is installed, operated and maintained according to
instructions attached to or furnished with the product,
KitchenAid brand of Whirlpool Corporation or Whirlpool
Canada LP (hereafter “KitchenAid”) will pay for Factory
Specified Replacement Parts and repair labor to correct
defects in materials or workmanship that existed when this
major appliance was purchased, or at its sole discretion
replace the product. In the event of product replacement,
your appliance will be warranted for the remaining term of
the original unit's warranty period.
YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY UNDER THIS

– Les pompiers ont été contactés.
– Il est possible de garder le dos orienté vers une sortie
pendant l'opération de lutte contre le feu.

Exigences d'emplacement
IMPORTANT : Observer les dispositions de tous les codes et
règlements en vigueur.
C'est à l'installateur qu'incombe la responsabilité de
respecter les distances de séparation spécifiées sur la plaque
signalétique. La plaque signalétique est située à l’intérieur de
la hotte, sur la paroi de gauche.
Installer la hotte de cuisinière à distance de toute zone
exposée à des courants d’air, comme fenêtres, portes et
bouches de chauffage à fort débit.
Respecter les dimensions indiquées pour les ouvertures à
découper dans les meubles. Ces dimensions tiennent
compte des valeurs minimales des dégagements de
séparation. Avant d'effectuer des découpages, consulter les
instructions d'installation fournies par le fabricant de la table
de cuisson/cuisinière.
Il est recommandé d'utiliser cette hotte avec une table de
cuisson dont la puissance totale ne dépasse pas 65 000 BTU.
Une prise de courant électrique reliée à la terre est
nécessaire. Voir la section “Spécifications électriques”.
La hotte de cuisinière a été configurée à l’usine pour
l’installation avec décharge à l’extérieur. Pour les installations
sans décharge à l’extérieur (recyclage), la référence de
l'ensemble de recyclage est W10490330. La référence de
l'ensemble de filtres à charbon de rechange est W10272068.

Assurer l'étanchéité au niveau de chaque ouverture
découpée dans le plafond ou le mur pour l'installation de la
hotte de cuisinière.
Installation dans une résidence mobile
L’installation de cette hotte doit satisfaire aux exigences de la
norme Manufactured Home Construction Safety Standards, Titre
24 CFR, partie 328 (anciennement Federal Standard for Mobile
Home Construction and Safety, titre 24, HUD, partie 280); lorsque
cette norme n’est pas applicable, l’installation doit satisfaire aux
critères de la plus récente édition de la norme Manufactured
Home Installation 1982 (Manufactured Home Sites, Communities
and Setups) ANSI A225.1/NFPA 501A, ou des codes et
règlements locaux.

Distances de dégagement à respecter
Exigences concernant l'évacuation
(Uniquement pour modèles avec évacuation)
Le circuit d’évacuation doit décharger l’air à l’extérieur, excepté
pour les installations sans décharge à l’extérieur (recyclage).
Ne pas terminer le circuit d’évacuation dans un grenier ou
dans un autre espace clos.
Ne pas utiliser une bouche de décharge murale de 4"
(10,2 cm) normalement utilisée pour un équipement de
buanderie.
Utiliser un conduit métallique rond de 6” (15,2 cm) ou un
conduit métallique rectangulaire de 3¼" x 10" (8,3 x 25,4 cm).
Un conduit en métal rigide est recommandé. Ne pas utiliser
de conduit de plastique ou en aluminium.
La longueur du circuit d’évacuation et le nombre de coudes
doivent être réduits au minimum pour des performances
optimales.
Pour un fonctionnement efficace et silencieux :
Ne pas utiliser plus de trois coudes à 90°.
Veiller à ce qu’il y ait une section droite de conduit d'un
minimum de 24" (61 cm) entre les coudes si l'on doit utiliser
plus d'un coude.
Ne pas installer 2 coudes successifs.
Au niveau de chaque jointure du circuit d'évacuation, assurer
l'étanchéité avec les brides de serrage.
Le circuit d’évacuation doit comporter un clapet anti-reflux. Si la
bouche de décharge murale ou par le toit comporte un clapet,
ne pas utiliser le clapet fourni avec la hotte de cuisinière.
À l’aide d’un produit de calfeutrage, assurer l’étanchéité
autour de la bouche de décharge à l’extérieur (à travers le
mur ou le toit).
Installations pour régions à climat froid
On doit installer un clapet anti-retour supplémentaire à l’arrière
pour minimiser le reflux d’air froid et incorporer un élément
d’isolation thermique pour minimiser la conduction de chaleur
par l’intermédiaire du conduit d’évacuation, de l’intérieur de la
maison à l’extérieur. Le clapet anti-retour doit être placé du côté
air froid de la résistance thermique.
L’élément d’isolation thermique doit être aussi proche que
possible de l’endroit où le circuit d’évacuation s’introduit dans la
partie chauffée de la maison.
Air d'appoint
Les codes locaux en bâtiment peuvent imposer l’emploi d’un
circuit de renouvellement de l’air/introduction d’air d’appoint, lors
de l’utilisation d’un circuit d’aspiration de débit supérieur à une
valeur spécifiée en pieds cubes par minute. Le débit spécifié en
pieds cubes par minute varie d’une juridiction à l’autre. Consulter
un professionnel des installations de chauffage ventilation/
climatisation au sujet des exigences spécifiques applicables
dans la juridiction locale.
Méthodes d'évacuation
Le système d'évacuation pour évacuation par le haut de la hotte
peut décharger à travers le toit ou un mur. Utiliser un conduit
métallique circulaire de 6" (15,2 cm). Le système d'évacuation
pour évacuation par l'arrière de la hotte doit décharger à travers
le mur. Utiliser un conduit rectangulaire de 3-1/4" x 10"
(8,3 x 25,4 cm). Pour une évacuation par l'arrière, il est
nécessaire d'utiliser un ensemble de clapet anti-retour. Voir la
section “Assistance ou service” pour commander.
REMARQUE :
On déconseille l’emploi d’un conduit flexible. Un
conduit flexible peut susciter une rétro-pression et des turbulences
de l’air, ce qui réduit considérablement la performance.
