Your BLACK+DECKER™ ECM150-B5 Coffee Maker has

been designed for making Espresso, Cappuccino and Latte

Coffee as described in this manual.

• This appliance is intended to be used in household and

similar applications.

• Do not use the appliance outdoors.

• This appliance is intended to be used in household and

similar applications such as:

• Staff kitchen areas in shops, ofﬁces and other

working environments;

• Farm houses;

• By clients in hotels, motels and other residential

type environments;

• Bed and breakfast type environments.

Safety instructions

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including

children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental

capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless

they have been given supervision or instruction concerning

use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Electrical safety

This product must be earthed. Always check that

the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage on

the rating plate.

Appliance plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the

plug in any way.

CAUTION: In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent

resetting of the thermal cut-out, the appliance must not be

supplied through an external switching device, such as a

timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on

and off by the utility.

Extension cables & class 1 product

• A 3 core cable must be used as your tool is earthed and

of class 1 construction.

• Up to 30m (100 ft) can be used without loss of power.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the

manufacturer or an authorised BLACK+DECKER Service

Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

Mains plug replacement

If a new mains plug needs to be ﬁtted:

• Safely dispose of the old plug.

• Connect the brown lead to the live terminal of the new

plug.

• Connect the blue lead to the neutral terminal.

• If the product is class I (earthed), connect the

green/yellow lead to the earth terminal.

Note: If your product is class II double insulated (only 2 wires

in the cord set), no connection is to be made to the earth

terminal.

Follow the ﬁtting instructions supplied with good quality plugs.

Any replacement fuse must be of the same rating as the

original fuse supplied with the product.

Warning! The above section on mains plug replacement is

for authorized service centre personals.

Additional safety instructions for coffee

makers

Warning! The lid may become hot during use.

Warning! Steam may escape from the appliance during use.

• Be careful not to get burned by the steam.

• Do not touch the hot surface of appliance (such as steam

wand, and the brewing ﬁlter during and after brewing till

they are cooled own). Use handle or knobs

• Do not let the coffee maker operate without water.

• Scalding may occur if the water tank is removed during

the brewing cycles.

• Do not remove the metal funnel when appliance in

brewing coffee or when steam and hot water escape from

metal funnel and ensure to release the pressure in water

tank before removing metal funnel.

Before ﬁrst use

To ensure the ﬁrst cup of coffee tastes excellent, you should

rinse the coffee maker with warm water as follows:

1. Remove the plug at the bottom of the water tank.

2. Pour water into water tank, the water level should not

exceed the “MAX” mark in the water tank. Then close

the tank cover.

Note: The appliance is supplied with a detachable water

tank for easy cleaning. You can ﬁll the water tank with water

ﬁrst and then put it into the appliance.

3. Set brewing ﬁlter (7 or 8) into metal funnel (9) (no coffee

in brewing ﬁlter).

4. Place an espresso cup on drip plate. Make sure the

Steam/Hot water knob (3) is at the horizontal

position(off-position).

Note: the appliance is not equipped with jug, please use your

jug or coffee cup.

5. Connect to power source, press the power button “ ”.

The power indicator will be illuminated and

single/double-cup/steam indicator will be ﬂashing.

6. The appliance will start pre-heating. When

single/double-cup/steam indicator becomes solid, it

shows the pre-heating is ﬁnished. Press double-cup

button “ ”,wait for a moment, The water will ﬂow out.

7. When the appliance stops pumping water automatically,

you can pour the water in the container out and then

clean it thoroughly. Now you can start brewing.

Note: There may be noise when pumping the water for the

ﬁrst time; it is normal as the appliance is releasing the air

inside. After about 20 seconds, the noise will disappear.

Pre-heating

To make a cup of good hot Espresso coffee, we recommend

preheating the appliance before making coffee, including the

metal funnel, brewing ﬁlter, and cup. This ensures that the

coffee ﬂavor is not inﬂuenced by the cold parts.

1. Remove the water tank and open the tank cover to ﬁll it

with desired water, the water level should not exceed the

“MAX” mark in the water tank. Then place the water tank

into the appliance properly.

2. Set the brewing ﬁlter into the metal funnel, ensuring that

the tube on the funnel aligns with the groove in the

appliance. Then, insert the funnel into the appliance from

the 'INSERT' position, and securely ﬁx them in the coffee

maker by turning it anticlockwise until it reaches the

'SECURE FIRMLY' position.

3. Then connect the appliance to power supply source.

Make sure the knob is at the horizontal

position(off-position).

4. Press the power button “ ”, The power indicator will be

illuminated and single/double-cup/steam indicator will be

ﬂashing.

5. When single/double-cup/steam indicator becomes solid,

it shows the pre-heating is ﬁnished.

Make Espresso Coffee

1. Remove the funnel by turning it clockwise. Add ground

coffee to the brewing ﬁlter using the measuring spoon;

one spoonful of ground coffee can make about a cup of

top-grade coffee. After adding the coffee, press the

ground coffee powder tightly with the measuring spoon.

2. Set the brewing ﬁlter into the metal funnel, ensuring that

the tube on the funnel aligns with the groove in the

appliance. Then, insert the funnel into the appliance

from the 'INSERT' position, and securely ﬁx them in the

coffee maker by turning it anticlockwise until it reaches

the 'SECURE FIRMLY' position.

3. Then place the hot espresso cup on drip plate.

4. Select single cup “ ” or double-cup “ ” according to

your preference, and then press the corresponding

button for the chosen function. After waiting for a

moment, coffee will start ﬂowing out.

5. The appliance will stop working when the coffee brewing

is ﬁnished, and your coffee is now ready.

6. After ﬁnishing making the coffee, you can take the metal

funnel out by turning it clockwise, then pour out the

coffee residue.

Make hot water

After ﬁnish preheating, turn the knob to “ ” position, and

then the hot water will dispense from steam wand. When the

desired amount of hot water is obtained, turn the knob off.

Before dispensing hot water, place a cup under the steam

wand.

Frothing Milk/ Make Cappuccino

You get a cup of cappuccino when you top up a cup of

espresso with frothing milk.

Note: during making steam, the metal funnel must be

assembled in position.

Before frothing milk, release steam for 10 seconds.

Method:

1. Prepare espresso ﬁrst according to the section "Make

Espresso Coffee" in a big enough container.

2. Press the steam button “ ”, the steam indicator will be

ﬂashing. When steam indicator becomes solid, the

pre-heating is ﬁnished.

3. Fill a jug with about 100 grams of milk for each

cappuccino to be prepared, you are recommended to

use whole milk at refrigerator temperature (not hot!).

Note: In choosing the size of jug, it is recommended the

diameter is not less than 70±5mm, and bear in mind that the

milk increases in volume by 2 times, make sure the height of

jug is enough.

4. Insert the steam wand into the milk about two centimetre,

then turn the knob to the “ ” position, steam will come

out from the steam outlet. Froth the milk by moving the

vessel round from up to down.

Warning: Be sure to operate carefully, as the steam may

cause scalding to a person.

5. When the required purpose is reached, you can turn the

knob off.

Note: Clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge immediately

after steam stops generating, but be careful not to hurt

yourself.

6. Pour the frothed milk into the espresso prepared, now the

cappuccino is ready. Sweeten to taste and if desired,

sprinkle the froth with a little cocoa powder.

The steam wand can be used to froth milk or make hot

beverages like drinking chocolate and water.

Note: After making steam, you can press the 'Single-cup' or

'Double-cup' button immediately to brew coffee again. The

coffee indicator will ﬂash quickly if the temperature is too

high. In this case, you need to reduce the temperature by

following the steps below: Turn the knob to the 'Hot water'

setting “ ”, and then hot water will dispense. Once the

temperature goes down, the pump will stop automatically,

and you should turn the knob off. After that, you can brew

coffee again.

If you do not want to brew coffee when the high-temperature

warning occurs, you can press the “Single-cup” or

“Double-cup” button again to cancel.

Set the dispening amount

1. Dispensing amount of single cup

To enter the mode of setting the dispensing amount, hold

and press the 'Single-cup' button for 3 seconds. Then,

press the 'Single-cup' button again, and the coffee will

start to dispense while the 'Single-cup indicator' ﬂashes.

When you reach the desired amount, press the

'Single-cup' button again to stop the coffee from

dispensing. The setting for the dispensing amount of a

single cup is now ﬁnished and will be saved for the next

operation. The adjustable dispensing amount of a single

cup ranges between 25ml and 60ml.

2. Dispensing amount of double-cup

Hold and press the “Double-cup” button for 3 seconds to

enter into the mode of setting the dispensing amount,

then follow the operation of setting the dispensing

amount of single cup. The adjustable dispensing amount

of double-cup ranges between 70ml and 110ml.

3. Restore factory setting

Simultaneously hold and press the “Single-cup” and

“Double-cup” buttons for 3 seconds to recover the

factory setting of dispensing amount.

Automatic power-off function

1. After pressing power button, if there is no any operation

within 29 minutes, the unit will power off automatically.

2. After pressing power button, if there is no any operation

after pump pumping about 215ml water , the pump will

stop automatically.

3. After pressing power button, if there is no any operation

after pump worked for 180s during froth milk, the pump

will stop automatically.

Clean and maintenance

1. Cut off power source and let the coffee maker cool down

completely before cleaning.

2. Clean the housing of the coffee maker with a

moisture-proof sponge regularly, and clean the water

tank, drip tray, and drip plate regularly as well. Then,

ensure they are dried properly.

Note: Do not clean with alcohol or solvent cleanser. Never

immerse the housing in water for cleaning.

3. Detach the metal funnel by turning it clockwise, remove

any coffee residue inside, clean it with cleanser, and

ﬁnally, rinse it thoroughly with clear water.

4. Clean all the attachments in the water and dry

thoroughly.

Cleaning mineral deposits

1. To ensure that your coffee maker operates efﬁciently and

delivers the peak ﬂavor of coffee, it needs to be

descaled, cleaned, and maintained periodically.

When the appliance has cumulatively worked for 500

cycles, a descaling warning will be shown. At that time,

all indicators will ﬂash ﬁve times, indicating that the

coffee machine needs to undergo descaling. After

performing the descaling process, the appliance will

return to its normal condition.

A descaling warning will be shown each time you turn on

the appliance if you do not cancel it.

2. Fill the water tank with water and descaler up to the MAX

level. The recommended ratio of water to descaler is 4:1;

please refer to the descaler's instruction for more details.

Please use a household descaler, or alternatively, you

can use citric acid (obtainable from chemist's or drug

stores) in a ratio of one hundred parts of water to three

parts of citric acid.

3. Press “Double-cup” button once to make hot water for

about 100ml. Then turn off the appliance and leave the

descaling solution in the appliance for 5 minutes.

4. Turn on the appliance and repeat the Step 3 for 3 times.

5. Repeat the steps of 3 for 2 times with tap water in the

MAX level (it is not necessary to wait for 5 minutes).

6. After ﬁnish descaling, you need to cancel the descaling

warning: Simultaneously hold and press the “Single-cup

button”, “Double-cup button” and “steam button ” for 3

seconds.

reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator

to maintain its freshness.

correctly, if the appliance still does not work,

please contact the authorized service

facility for repairing.

Wait for the ﬂashing indicators to stop, and

then you can start frothing.

Use high and narrow cup.

Use whole milk or half-skimmed milk.

Rallonges électriques et produit de classe 1

Changement de la ﬁche secteur

En cas de besoin de montage d’une nouvelle ﬁche :

• Mettez dûment l’ancienne ﬁche au rebut.

• Connectez le ﬁl marron à la borne sous tension de la

• Connectez le ﬁl bleu à la borne neutre.

• Si le produit est de classe I (mis à la terre), connectez le

ﬁl vert/jaune à la borne de terre.

3. Placez le ﬁltre à café (7 ou 8) dans le porte-ﬁltre

métallique (9) (sans café dans le ﬁltre).

4. Placez une tasse à expresso sur la grille d'égouttage.

Vériﬁez que le bouton Vapeur/ Eau chaude (3) est

horizontal (position off).

Remarque : l'appareil n'est pas fourni avec un pichet. Utilisez

votre propre tasse ou pichet.

5. Branchez l'appareil et appuyez sur le bouton Marche .

L'indicateur de marche s'allume et le voyant une/deux

tasses/ vapeur clignote.

6. L'appareil commence à préchauffer. Lorsque le voyant

une/deux tasses/ vapeur devient ﬁxe, le préchauffage est

terminé. Appuyez sur le bouton deux tasses ,

attendez un moment, l'eau s'écoule.

7. Lorsque l'appareil cesse de pomper l'eau

automatiquement, vous pouvez vider l'eau contenue

dans le récipient et le nettoyer soigneusement. Vous

pouvez maintenant commencer à préparer votre café.

Remarque : Un bruit peut s'entendre lors du premier

pompage de l'eau ; ce bruit est normal car l'appareil libère

l'air contenu à l'intérieur. Après environ 20 secondes, le bruit

disparaît.

Préchauffage

Pour préparer une bonne tasse de café expresso bien

chaude, il est recommandé de préchauffer l'appareil avant de

préparer le café, y compris le porte-ﬁltre métallique, le ﬁltre et

la tasse. Cela permet de s'assurer que la saveur du café

n'est pas inﬂuencée par les parties froides.

1. Retirez le réservoir d'eau et ouvrez son couvercle pour

ajouter l'eau souhaitée ; le niveau d'eau ne doit pas

dépasser le repère MAXI du réservoir d'eau. Placez

ensuite correctement le réservoir d'eau dans l'appareil.

2. Placez le ﬁltre à café dans le porte-ﬁltre métallique en

veillant à ce que le porte-ﬁltre s'aligne sur la rainure de

l'appareil. Insérez ensuite le porte-ﬁltre dans l'appareil à

partir de la position INSÉRER et ﬁxez-les fermement

dans la machine à café en le tournant dans le sens

antihoraire jusqu'à ce qu'elle atteigne la position FIXÉ

FERMEMENT.

3. Branchez ensuite l'appareil à la source d'alimentation

électrique. Assurez-vous que le bouton est en position

horizontale (position d'arrêt).

4. Appuyez sur le bouton Marche , le voyant de marche

s'allume et le voyant une/deux tasses/ vapeur clignote.

5. Lorsque le voyant une/deux tasses/ vapeur devient ﬁxe,

le préchauffage est terminé.

• Ne retirez pas le ﬁltre métallique lorsque l'appareil

prépare du café ou lorsque de la vapeur et de l'eau

chaude s'échappent du porte-ﬁltre métallique et veillez à

relâcher la pression dans le réservoir d'eau avant de

retirer le porte-ﬁltre métallique.

• Branchez la prise au secteur avant d'utiliser l'appareil et

éteignez tout interrupteur avant de retirer la prise du

secteur.

• Relâchez la pression par la buse à vapeur avant de

retirer le couvercle du réservoir ou le porte-ﬁltre

métallique.

• Laissez l’appareil refroidir aﬁn d’installer ou de démonter

des pièces, et avant de le nettoyer.

• N'utilisez pas l'appareil s'il présente des signes de

ﬁssures.

Avant la première utilisation

Pour que la première tasse de café ait un goût excellent,

vous devez rincer la machine à café à l'eau chaude en

procédant comme suit :

1. Retirez le bouchon au fond du réservoir d'eau.

2. Versez de l'eau dans le réservoir sans dépasser le

repère MAX du réservoir d'eau. Fermez le couvercle du

réservoir.

Préparer un café expresso

1. Retirez le porte-ﬁltre en le tournant dans le sens horaire.

Ajoutez du café moulu dans le ﬁltre à café à l'aide de la

cuillère doseuse ; une cuillère de café moulu permet de

préparer environ une tasse de café de qualité

supérieure. Après avoir ajouté le café, tassez fermement

la poudre de café moulu à l'aide de la cuillère doseuse.

2. Placez le ﬁltre à café dans le porte-ﬁltre métallique en

veillant à ce que le porte-ﬁltre s'aligne sur la rainure de

l'appareil. Insérez ensuite le porte-ﬁltre dans l'appareil à

partir de la position INSÉRER et ﬁxez-les fermement

dans la machine à café en le tournant dans le sens

antihoraire jusqu'à ce qu'elle atteigne la position FIXÉ

FERMEMENT.

3. Placez ensuite la tasse à expresso chaude sur la grille

d'égouttage.

4. Sélectionnez une tasse ou deux tasses selon

vos préférences, puis appuyez sur le bouton

correspondant à la fonction choisie. Après un moment

d'attente, le café commence à s'écouler.

5. L'appareil s'arrête de fonctionner lorsque la préparation

du café est terminée, et votre café est maintenant prêt.

6. Une fois la préparation du café terminée, vous pouvez

retirer le porte-ﬁltre métallique en le tournant dans le

sens horaire, puis retirer le marc de café.

Préparer de l'eau chaude

Une fois le préchauffage terminé, tournez le bouton sur la

position ; l'eau chaude sort de la buse à vapeur.

Lorsque la quantité d'eau chaude souhaitée est obtenue,

éteignez le bouton. Avant de distribuer de l'eau chaude,

placez une tasse sous la buse à vapeur.

Faire mousser le lait/ préparer un

cappuccino

Vous obtenez une tasse de cappuccino lorsque vous

complétez une tasse d'expresso avec de la mousse de lait.

Remarque : lors de la préparation de la vapeur, le

porte-ﬁltre métallique doit être monté en position.

Avant de faire mousser le lait, libérez la vapeur pendant 10

secondes.

Méthode d'utilisation :

1. Préparez d'abord l'expresso selon la section Préparer un

café expresso dans un récipient sufﬁsamment grand.

2. Appuyez sur le bouton vapeur , l'indicateur de vapeur

clignote. Lorsque l'indicateur de vapeur devient ﬁxe, le

préchauffage est terminé.

3. Remplissez un pichet avec environ 100 grammes de lait

pour chaque cappuccino à préparer ; il est recommandé

d'utiliser du lait entier à la température du réfrigérateur

(pas chaud !).

Remarque : Concernant le choix de la taille du pichet, il est

recommandé que le diamètre ne soit pas inférieur à 70 ± 5

mm ; gardez à l'esprit que le volume du lait est multiplié par 2

: assurez-vous que la hauteur du pichet est sufﬁsante.

4. Insérez la buse à vapeur dans le lait sur environ deux

centimètres, puis tournez le bouton sur la position ;

de la vapeur sortira de la buse. Faites mousser le lait en

déplaçant le récipient de haut en bas.

Avertissement : Veillez à utiliser l'appareil avec précaution,

car la vapeur peut provoquer des brûlures.

5. Lorsque le but recherché est atteint, vous pouvez

éteindre le bouton.

Attention : Nettoyez la buse à vapeur avec une éponge

humide dès que la vapeur ne s'échappe plus mais prenez

soin de ne pas vous brûler.

6. Versez la mousse de lait sur l'expresso préparé : le

cappuccino est maintenant prêt. Sucrez selon votre goût

et, si vous le souhaitez, saupoudrez la mousse d'un peu

de cacao en poudre.

La buse à vapeur peut être utilisée pour faire mousser du

lait ou pour préparer des boissons chaudes comme du

chocolat à boire ou de l'eau.

Remarque : Après avoir fait de la vapeur, vous pouvez

appuyer immédiatement sur le bouton Une tasse ou Deux

tasses pour préparer à nouveau du café. L'indicateur de café

clignote rapidement si la température est trop élevée. Dans

ce cas, vous devez réduire la température en suivant les

étapes ci-dessous : Placez le bouton sur le réglage Eau

chaude , et de l'eau chaude est distribuée. Lorsque la

température baisse, la pompe s'arrête automatiquement et

vous devez éteindre le bouton. Ensuite, vous pouvez à

nouveau préparer du café.

Si vous ne souhaitez pas préparer de café lorsque la

température est élevée, vous pouvez appuyer à nouveau sur

le bouton Une tasse ou Deux tasses pour annuler.

Régler la quantité distribuée

1. Quantité distribuée pour une tasse

Pour entrer dans le mode de réglage de la quantité

distribuée, maintenez le bouton Une tasse enfoncé

pendant 3 secondes. Ensuite, appuyez à nouveau sur le

bouton Une tasse et le café commencera à couler tandis

que l'indicateur Une tasse clignote. Lorsque vous avez

atteint la quantité souhaitée, appuyez à nouveau sur le

bouton Une tasse pour arrêter la distribution du café. Le

réglage de la quantité de distribution d'une tasse est

maintenant terminé et sera sauvegardé pour la

prochaine opération. La quantité distribuée réglable pour

une tasse est comprise entre 25 et 60 ml.

2. Quantité distribuée pour deux tasses

Maintenez le bouton Deux tasses enfoncée pendant 3

secondes pour entrer dans le mode de réglage de la

quantité distribuée, puis suivez les mêmes consignes de

réglage de la quantité distribuée que pour une tasse. La

quantité distribuée réglable pour deux tasses est

comprise entre 70 et 110 ml.

3. Restaurer le réglage d'usine

Maintenez appuyés simultanément les boutons Une

tasse et Deux tasses pendant 3 secondes pour rétablir

le réglage d'usine de la quantité distribuée.

Fonction d'arrêt automatique

1. Après avoir appuyé sur le bouton marche, si aucune

opération n'est effectuée dans les 29 minutes, l'appareil

s'éteint automatiquement.

2. Après avoir appuyé sur le bouton marche, si aucune

opération n'est effectuée après avoir pompé environ 215

ml d'eau, la pompe s'arrête automatiquement.

3. Après avoir appuyé sur le bouton marche, si aucune

opération n'est effectuée après que la pompe a

fonctionné pendant 180 secondes pendant la production

de mousse de lait, la pompe s'arrête automatiquement.

Nettoyage et entretien

1. Coupez l'alimentation électrique et laissez la machine à

café refroidir complètement avant de la nettoyer.

2. Nettoyez régulièrement l'extérieur de la machine à café

à l'aide d'une éponge absorbante, ainsi que le réservoir

d'eau, le plateau d'égouttage et la grille d'égouttage.

Veillez ensuite à ce qu'ils soient séchés correctement.

Attention : Ne pas nettoyer avec de l'alcool ou des

solvants. Ne jamais plonger l'appareil dans l’eau pour le

nettoyer.

3. Retirez le porte-ﬁltre métallique en le tournant dans le

sens horaire, retirez le marc de café à l'intérieur, lavez-le

avec un produit nettoyant et, enﬁn, rincez-le

soigneusement à l'eau claire.

4. Nettoyez tous les accessoires dans l'eau et séchez-les

soigneusement.

Nettoyage de dépôts de minéraux

1. Pour que votre machine à café fonctionne efﬁcacement

et délivre un café d'une saveur optimale, elle doit être

détartrée, nettoyée et entretenue régulièrement.

Lorsque l'appareil a cumulé 500 cycles, un avertissement

de détartrage s'afﬁche. À ce moment-là, tous les voyants

clignotent cinq fois, indiquant que la machine à café doit

être détartrée. Une fois le détartrage effectué, l'appareil

revient à son état normal.

Un avertissement de détartrage s'afﬁche à chaque fois

que vous mettez l'appareil en marche si vous ne

l'annulez pas.

2. Remplissez le réservoir d'eau avec de l'eau et du

détartrant jusqu'au niveau MAX. Le rapport recommandé

entre l'eau et le détartrant est de 4:1 ; reportez-vous au

mode d'emploi du détartrant pour plus de détails. Utilisez

un détartrant ménager ou, à défaut, de l'acide citrique

(disponible en pharmacie ou en droguerie) dans un

rapport de cent volumes d'eau pour trois volumes d'acide

citrique.

3. Appuyez une fois sur le bouton Deux tasses pour obtenir

de l'eau chaude pour environ 100 ml. Éteignez ensuite

l'appareil et laissez la solution de détartrage dans

l'appareil pendant 5 minutes.

4. Allumez l'appareil et répétez trois fois l'étape 3.

5. Répétez l'étape 3 deux fois avec de l'eau du robinet au

niveau MAX (il n'est pas nécessaire d'attendre 5

minutes).

6. Une fois le détartrage terminé, vous devez annuler

l'avertissement de détartrage : Appuyez simultanément

sur les boutons Une tasse, Deux tasses et Vapeur

pendant 3 secondes.
