1 Voorwoord
Uw aanschaf van het paraffinebad stellen wij zeer op prijs. Het paraffinebad biedt de mogelijkheid om op
een zeer eenvoudige wijze warmte-therapie toe te passen.
Bij de ontwikkeling en productie van het paraffinebad is veel zorg besteed aan betrouwbaarheid, veilig-
heid, gebruiksgemak en duurzaamheid. Om op een goede en veilige manier het paraffinebad te kunnen
gebruiken, is het belangrijk dat u onderstaande aan-wijzingen voor het gebruik doorneemt.

3 Installatie
Sluit het netsnoer aan op een wandcontactdoos met randaarde (veiligheidsklasse 1)
Wees voorzichtig met het aanraken van het hete oppervlakte rond de dop van de toevoer van de
tank wanneer deze in gebruik is geweest.
Wees voorzichtig met de hete vloeistof wanneer u de tank voor de warmteoverdrachtvloeistof
opent wanneer deze in gebruik is geweest.
1. Controleer of de op het typeplaatje aangegeven netspanning overeenkomt met de plaatselijke
netspanning.
2. Vul de tank als volgt: kantel het paraffinebad zoals aangegeven op de afbeelding. Verwijder de dop
van de toevoer en vul de tank met warmteoverdrachtvloeistof (art nr 3448136) tot de vloeistof
zichtbaar wordt in de toevoer.* Zet het paraffinebad weer op zijn wielen.
3. Vul het bad met de tabletten van de conductieve warmtedragers (gebruik enkel Enraf-Nonius
paraffine, Paralingo ®, Parafango Battaglia ®). Om de warmtedrager zo snel mogelijk te laten smelten
wordt deze op de bodem en tegen de randen van het bad gelegd.
4. Sluit het bad aan op een wandcontactdoos met randaarde. Zet de aan/uit schakelaar in stand 1 en stel
de thermostaat op de gewenste temperatuur in. Het indicatielampje gaat aan. Zodra de paraffine de
ingestelde temperatuur bereikt heeft gaat dit lampje weer uit.
Afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid en soort warmtedrager duurt het 1 á 3 uur tot deze geheel gesmolten is.
Controleer voor gebruik de temperatuur van de warmtedrager met een thermometer.
* = Gebruik geen water, dit kan corrosie veroorzaken!
4 Aanwijzingen m.b.t. veiligheid
Als het gebruik van dit apparaat de oorzaak is van of bijgedragen heeft aan een ongewenst
voorval zoals overlijden of ernstig letsel van de gebruiker, dan MOETEN de fabrikant en de
bevoegde autoriteit van de lidstaat daarvan onmiddellijk op de hoogte worden gesteld!
Controleer regelmatig het vloeistofniveau van de warmteoverdrachtvloeistof. Als het niveau te laag
is, voeg dan warmteoverdrachtsvloeistof toe aan het apparaat. Voordat u de vloeistof toevoegt,
schakel het paraffinebad uit en haal de stekker uit het stopcontact.
Verplaats het paraffinebad niet wanneer het toestel in gebruik is of wanneer de paraffine vloeibaar
(heet) is.
Leg het deksel op het paraffinebad wanneer deze niet in gebruik is.
Houdt te allen tijde kinderen weg bij de apparatuur.
Bij onjuist gebruik kan letsel optreden (o.a. door verbranding). Toezicht van een kundig
(para)medicus is daarom een vereiste.
Bij het binnendringen van vloeistoffen dient u de stekker uit het stopcontact te halen en het
apparaat door een bevoegd persoon te laten controleren.
Het is niet toegestaan dit apparaat in zogeheten “natte ruimten” (hydrotherapieruimten) te
gebruiken.

Het apparaat is tegen oververhitting beveiligd d.m.v. een thermische beveiliging. Deze bevindt zich aan
de onderzijde van het apparaat achter een paneel. Om de beveiliging weer in werking te stellen, eerst de
steker uit de wandcontactdoos trekken, het apparaat ledigen en omdraaien, het paneel verwijderen (twee
schroeven) en de rode knop indrukken.
4.1 Productaansprakelijkheid
In veel landen is inmiddels een wet op de productaansprakelijkheid van kracht, waarbij onder meer geldt
dat de fabrikant, 10 jaar nadat een product in omloop is gebracht, niet meer aansprakelijk gesteld kan
worden voor de gevolgen van eventuele gebreken aan het product.
Voorzover toegestaan door de van toepassing zijnde wetgeving zullen Enraf-Nonius of zijn leveranciers
of verkopers onder geen enkele omstandigheid aansprakelijk zijn voor indirecte, uitzonderlijke, incidentele
of gevolgschade voortvloeiend uit het gebruik van, dan wel de onmogelijkheid van het gebruik van het
product, met inbegrip van, maar niet beperkt tot schade als gevolg van verlies aan goodwill,
werkonderbreking, computerdefecten of -storingen, of andere commerciële schade of verliezen, zelfs
indien Enraf-Nonius, dan wel zijn leveranciers of verkopers,
op de hoogte is gesteld van de mogelijkheid van een dergelijke schade en ongeacht de rechts- of
billijkheidstheorie (contract, onrechtmatige daad of anderszins) waarop de claim is gebaseerd. Enraf-
Nonius zal op grond van bepalingen van deze overeenkomst in geen geval aansprakelijk zijn voor schade
die meer bedraagt dan het bedrag dat Enraf-Nonius voor dit product van u heeft ontvangen en eventuele
vergoedingen voor ondersteuning van het product die door Enraf-Nonius op grond van een
afzonderlijke ondersteuningsovereenkomst zijn ontvangen. In geval van dood of lichamelijk letsel
voortvloeiend uit de nalatigheid van Enraf-Nonius geldt deze beperking niet voorzover de toepasselijke
wetgeving een dergelijke beperking verbiedt.
De wederpartij (gebruiker of representant van de gebruiker) is gehouden Enraf-Nonius te vrijwaren voor
alle aanspraken van derden, hoe ook genaamd en op welke grond dan ook gebaseerd.
5 Beoogd gebruik en beoogd gebruiker
5.1 Beoogd gebruik
Het Enraf-Nonius paraffinebad is bedoeld voor verwarmen van paraffine voor het beoefenen van
thermotherapie door giet- of borstelmethode.
Het dompelen van lichaamsdelen in het paraffinebad is niet toegestaan.
5.2 Beoogd gebruiker
Het paraffinebad is bedoeld voor gebruik, en mag alleen gebruikt worden, door of onder toezicht van
professionele gebruikers op het gebied van fysiotherapie en revalidatie.

7 Contra-indicaties
7.1 Waarschuwing
Thermotherapie kan leiden tot brandwonden
Niet gebruiken op open wonden
Verwaming kan worden gevolgd door een tijdelijke verlaging van het aantal zaadcellen.
Gevoelige personen, bijvoorbeeld ouderen, kunnen last hebben van uitdroging en tijdelijke
verlaging van de bloeddruk, of van symptomen zoals duizeligheid en hoofdpijn na de behandeling,
met name op grote oppervlakken zoals de rug of de nek/schouders.
De behandelingstijd mag niet meer dan 30 minuten bedragen
Denk aan de risico's
• Bij patiënten met ernstige hartinsufficiëntie
• Over oppervlakkige gesloten wonden, inclusief geënte of verbrande wonden
• Over lichaamsgebieden met oppervlakkig gelegen metalen implantaten
• Op Motorische vaardigheden en reactietijd
• In geval van een systemische infectieziekte
7.2 Contra-indicaties
• Gebrek aan lokale thermische gevoeligheid van de patiënt
• Lokale gebieden met recente bloedingen (hemorragie)
• Gedevitaliseerde huid, bijvoorbeeld na een diepe röntgenbehandeling
• Bepaalde huidaandoeningen, bijv. huidcarcinomen, acute dematitis
• Beperkte lokale circulatie
• Acute polyarthritis
• Acute neuritis
• Eczeem
• Decompensatio Cordis
• Tuberculose
• Endocarditis
• Ernstige hypertonie
• Angina pectoris
• Ernstige vegetatieve dystonie
• Algemene intolerantie voor warmte (b.v. bij ziekte herstel)
• Niet gebruiken:
o Over een kankergebied
o Over een tromboflebitisch gebied
o Over acute en ernstige ontstekingsziekten
o Bij patiënten die verward en onbetrouwbaar zijn
8 Bediening
Het dompelen van lichaamsdelen in het paraffinebad is niet toegestaan.
De meeste warmtedragers hebben een beperkte levensduur. Daarnaast is het ook hygiënisch om
de warmtedrager regelmatig te verversen. Wij raden u aan om bij intensief gebruik elke week de
warmtedrager te verversen. Voor de levensduur verwijzen wij u naar de verpakking / bijsluiter van
de warmtedrager. Informeer s.v.p. naar de plaatselijke regels voor het afvoeren van de
warmtedrager.
• Stel de thermostaat in op de gewenste temperatuur. Deze is afhankelijk van de gebruikte warmte-
drager: paraffine 55 °C, Paralingo ® 60°C à 70 °C, Parafango Battaglia ® 60 °C.
• Het paraffinebad kan gebruikt worden voor:
o begieten
o bestrijken
• Alvorens de warmtedrager toe te passen moet men eerst goed roeren om een gelijkmatige
temperatuur te verkrijgen en controleren met een thermometer of de warmtedrager op de juiste
temperatuur is.
• Bij begieten wordt de extremiteit begoten met de warmtedrager, en eventueel bestreken met behulp
van een kwast om een gelijkmatige verdeling te krijgen. Vervolgens wordt de extremiteit ingepakt in
een warmte isolerende omslag.

• Bij bestrijken wordt met behulp van een kwast de warmtedrager opgebracht. De extremiteit wordt
vervolgens in een warmte isolerende omslag geplaatst.
• Bij sommige pakkingen kan men gebruik maken van een tussenstof (bijvoorbeeld Parafoil ®).
9 Reiniging en onderhoud
9.1 Reiniging
Voordat u begint met reinigen, schakel het apparaat uit en haal de stekker uit het stopcontact.
• Het paraffinebad kan worden gereinigd met een vochtige doek en een vloeibaar huishoud-
schoonmaakmiddel (geen schuurmiddel).
9.2 Onderhoud
Het apparaat mag niet worden gebruikt wanneer er mechanische schade wordt opgemerkt. Dit
geldt ook voor beschadigde kabelisolatie.
• Het is verplicht om het paraffinebad jaarlijks te controleren door geautoriseerde personeel van Enraf-
Nonius B.V. of door haar geautoriseerde distributeur.
• Het is tevens raadzaam een dossier bij te houden van alle uitgevoerde servicewerkzaamheden. In
sommige landen is dit zelfs verplicht.
• Voor het verkrijgen van reserveonderdelen kunt u contact opnemen met uw leverancier.
9.3 Verwachte levensduur
Dit apparaat blijft geschikt voor het beoogde gebruik, mits het jaarlijks wordt onderhouden door een
gekwalificeerde onderhoudsmonteur van Enraf-Nonius B.V. of door een officiële distributeur zoals
beschreven in de servicehandleiding en de onderhoudsmonteur van mening is dat het apparaat geschikt
is voor gebruik volgens de specificaties.
9.4 Einde levensduur
Uw paraffinebad bevat materialen die hergebruikt kunnen worden en/of schadelijk zijn voor het milieu. Bij
het afvoeren, aan het einde van de levensduur, kunnen gespecialiseerde bedrijven uw paraffinebad
demonteren om er de schadelijke materialen en de her te gebruiken materialen uit te halen. Hiermee
draagt u bij tot een beter milieu.

We very much appreciate your purchase of the Par-affin bath. The Paraffin bath offers the possibility to
practice thermotherapy in an easy way.
When developing and producing the Paraffin bath, much consideration was given to reliability, safety,
user comfort and durability. In order to be able to use your Paraffin bath safely, it is important that you
read the instructions before use.

3 Installation
Connect the mains cable to a socket outlet with protective earth (safety class 1).
Be careful of touching the hot surface around the cover of the filler jacket of the tank when it has
been in use.
Be carfeful of hot liquid when opening the tank for heat transfer liquid when it has been in use.
1. Check that the required supply voltage on the type plate corresponds with the available mains supply.
2. To fill the tank, put the paraffin bath in a slope position (see picture). Remove the cover of the filler
jacket and fill the tank with the heat transfer liquid (art.nr 3448136) untill the liquid becomes visible in
the jacket.* Put the paraffin bath back on its wheels.
3. Fill the bath with the conductive heat carriers (use only Enraf-Nonius paraffin, Paralingo ®, Parafango
Battaglia ®). The best heating is obtained by breaking the tablets in pieces and placing these pieces
against the side walls of the bath.
4. Connect the unit to an earthed wall socket. Turn the on/off switch to position I, and turn the ther-
mostat to the desired temperature. The indicator lamp now lights. When the wax has reached the
preset temperature, the indicator lamp goes out.
Dependent on the amount of wax in the bath, it will take 1 to 3 hours before the wax is completely melted.
Before use, it is advised to check the temperature of the wax with a thermometer.
* = Don't use water as this can cause corrosion!
4 Safety Precautions
If the use of this device may have caused or contributed to an undesirable event such as death or
serious injury to the user, the manufacturer AND the competent authority of the Member State
MUST be notified immediately!
Regulary check the transfer liquid level in the tank. If the level is too low add transfer liquid to the
unit. Before adding the fluid, switch off and disconnect the Paraffin bath from the mains supply.
Do not move the paraffin bath when the device is in use or when the wax is liquid (hot).
Place the lid on the paraffin bath when not in use.
At all times keep away children from the equipment.
When the paraffin bath is not used in the correct way, injury may occur. Supervision by a knowl-
edgeable (para)medic is therefore obligatory.
In the case of ingress of liquids, unplug the device from the Mains supply and have it checked by
an authorized person.
The device is not intended for use in so-called "wet rooms" (hydrotherapy rooms).

The unit is protected against over-heating (boiling dry) by means of a thermal cut-out. The thermal cut-out
is located behind the bottom panel of the unit. To re-set the thermal cut-out , disconnect the heater from
the mains, empty the unit and turn it upside down, remove the panel (2 screws) and press the red button.
4.1 Product liability
A law on Product Liability has become effective in many countries. This Product Liability law implies,
amongst other things, that once a period of 10 years has elapsed after a product has been brought into
circulation, the manufacturer can no longer be held responsible for possible shortages of the product.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will Enraf-Nonius or its suppliers or
resel-lers be liable for any indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of
or in-ability to use the product, including, without limitation, damages for loss of goodwill, work and
productivity, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commercial damages or losses, even if
advised of the possibility thereof, and regardless of the legal or equitable theory (contract, tort or
otherwise) upon which the claim is based. In any case, Enraf-Nonius’s entire liability under any provision
of this agreement shall not exceed in the aggregate the sum of the fees paid for this product and fees for
support of the product received by Enraf-Nonius under a separate support agreement (if any), with the
exception of death or personal injury caused by the negligence of Enraf-Nonius to the extent applicable
law prohib-its the limitation of damages in such cases.
The opposing party (product’s user or it’s representative) shall disclaim Enraf-Nonius from all claims
arising from third parties, whatever nature or whatever relationship to the opposing party.
5 Intended use
5.1 Intended use
The Enraf-Nonius paraffin bath is a device intended to heat paraffin to practice Thermotherapy by
pouring or brushing method.
Dipping body parts in the paraffin bath is not allowed.
5.2 Intended user
The paraffin bath is intended to be used, and shall only by used, by or under the supervision of
professional users in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation at professional healthcare facilities.
6 Indications
Thermotherapy is indicated for:
• Soft tissue injury
• Pain
• Muscle spasm
• Joint contracture

7 Contra-indications
7.1 Warning
Thermotherapy might lead to burns
Do not use on open wounds
Heating might be followed by temporary lowering of sperm count
Susceptible subjects, e.g. elderly people may suffer dehydration and temporary lowering of the
blood pressure, or symptoms including dizziness and headaches following treatment, especially to
large areas such as the back or neck/shoulders
Treatment time shall not exceed 30 minutes
Consider the risks
• In patients presenting with severe cardiac insufficiency
• Over superficial closed wounds, including grafted or burned wounds
• Over body areas with superficially located metal implants
• On hand motor skills and reaction time
• In cases of systemic infectious disease
7.2 Contra-indications
• Lack of local thermal sensitivity on the part of the patient
• Local areas of recent bleeding (haemorraging)
• Devitalized skin, e.g. after deep X-ray treatment
• Certain skin conditions, e.g. skin carcinomas, acute dematitis
• Impaired local circulation
• Acute polyarthritis
• Acute neuritis
• Eczema
• Decompensatio Cordis
• Tuberculosis
• Endocarditis
• Severe hypertonia
• Angina pectoris
• Severe dystonia of the autonomic neurosystem.
• General intolerance for heat (for example during recovery)
• Do not use:
o Over a cancerous area
o Over a thrombophlebitic area
o Over acute and severe inflammatory conditions
o In patients who are confused and unreliable
8 Operation
Dipping body parts in the paraffin bath is not allowed.
Most heat carriers have a limited life span. It also is hygiënic to refresh you heat carrier at regulary
intervals. We recommend you to refresh your heat carrier every week when used intensly at a daily
basis. For the exact life span expectancy please look at the manual / packaging of the heat carrier.
Please ensure that you are well informed of the local rules and regulations regarding to the
removal of the heat carrier.
• Adjust the thermostat to the required temperature. This temperature depends on the heat carrier:
paraffine 55 °C, Paralingo ® 60 °C à 70 °C, Parafango Battaglia ® 60 °C.
• The parrafine bath can be used for:
o pouring
o brushing
• Before the heat carrier will be applied, first stir well in order to obtain an evenly distributed heat and
check with a thermometer if the heat carrier is at the proper temperature.
• For pouring the extremity is poured over with the heat carrier, and it can also be brushed at your
desire in order to evenly distribute the wax. The extremity is then packed in an isolating cover.

• For brushing the heat carrier is added to the extremity by means of a brush. The extremity is then
packed in an isolating cover.
• With some heat carriers one can also use an intermediate skin like Parafoil ®.
9 Cleaning and maintenance
9.1 Cleaning
Before cleaning, switch off the device and unplug it from the wall socket.
• The Paraffin bath can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a (non abrasive) liquid household cleaner.
9.2 Maintenance
The device should not be used when mechanical damage is noticed. This includes damaged cable
insulation.
• It is mandatory to have the paraffin bath checked yearly by authorized personnel of Enraf-Nonius or
by its authorized distributor.
• It is also recommended that a service history record is maintained. In some countries, this is even
obligatory.
• In order to obtain spare parts, you please contact your supplier.
9.3 Expected service life
This device will remain suitable for its intended use as long as it is subjected to yearly maintenance by a
qualified service engineer as described in the service manual.
The service engineer will decide whether the device is suitable for use according to the specifications.
9.4 End of life
Your Paraffin bath contains materials which can be recycled and/or are noxious for the environment. At
the end of the duration of life, specialised con-cerns can take apart the Paraffin bath and sort out the
noxious materials and materials for recycling. By doing so you contribute to a better environment.
Please ensure that you are well informed of the local rules and regulations regarding
the removal of equipment and accessories.

Bei der Konstruktion und Entwicklung dieser Paraffin Bad wurde besonderer Wert auf Sicherheit, Komfort
und Lebensdauer gelegt. Für eine optimale und sichere Handhabung der Paraffin Bad ist es unbedingt
erforderlich, diese Gebrauchsanweisung sorgfältig zu lesen.

3 Installation
Schließen Sie das Netzkabel an eine Steckdose mit Schutzleiter (Sicherheitsklasse 1) an.
Seien Sie vorsichtig, dass Sie die heiße Oberfläche um den Kappe des Tankeinlasses nicht
berühren, wenn der Tank in Gebrauch ist.
Seien Sie vorsichtig mit heißer Flüssigkeit, wenn Sie den Tank für die Warmflüssigkeit öffnen,
wenn er in Gebrauch war.
1. Überprüfen Sie, ob die Netzspannung auf dem Typschild mit der örtlichen Netzspannung über-
einstimmt.
2. Tank füllen: das Parraffin Bad schregstellen wie auf der Abbildung. Dann die Kappe der Zufuhr
entfernen und den Tank füllen bis das Warmflüssigkeit (benützen Sie art.nr. 3448136) in der Zufuhr
sichtbar wird.* Stellen Sie das Paraffin Bad wieder auf die Räder.
3. Bad mit den Wärmeträger füllen (nur Enraf-Nonius paraffine, Paralingo ®, Parafango Battaglia ®
verwenden). Um den Wärmeträger so schnell wie möglich schmelzen zu lassen, wird dieser auf den
Boden und gegen die Ränder des Bades gelegt.
4. Das Bad an einer Steckdoes mit Schutzerde anschließen. Den An/aus-Schalter in Position I stellen
und den Thermostat auf der gewünschten Temperatur einstellen. Die Anzeigelampe leuchtet. Wenn
die eingestellte Temperatur erreicht ist, löscht diese Lampe wieder.
Je nach der menge Warmeträger dauert es 1 à 3 Stunden bis diese völlig geschmolzen ist. Überprüfen
Sie die Temperatur vor der Bahandlung mit einem Thermometer.
* = Benutzen Sie kein Wasser weil dieses Korrosion verursachen kann!
4 Sicherheitsanweisungen
Wenn die Verwendung dieses Geräts eine unerwünschte Nebenwirkung, z. B. Tod oder eine
schwerwiegende Verletzung, verursacht oder dazu beiträgt, sind der Hersteller und die zuständige
Behörde des Mitgliedstaates UMGEHEND zu benachrichtigen!
Überprüfen Sie regelmäßig das Warmflüssigkeitsniveau. Wenn der Niveau zu niedrig ist, fügen
Sie Warmflüssigkeit hinzu. Bevor Sie die Flüssigkeit hinzufügen, schalten Sie das Paraffin Bad aus
und ziehen Sie den Stecker aus der Steckdose.
Versetzen Sie das Paraffinbad nicht, wenn das Gerät in Betrieb ist oder wenn das Paraffin flüssig
(heiß) ist.
Legen Sie den Deckel auf das Paraffin Bad, wenn es nicht benutzt wird.
Kinder dürfen nicht beim Paraffin Bad gelassen werden.
