SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. KNOW YOUR WOOD LATHE AND THIS WOOD LATHE CHUCK.
Read and understand the owners manuals and labels affixed to the tool. Learn their
applications and limitations as well as their specific potential hazards.
2. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.
Always wear safety glasses (ANSI Z87.1). Everyday eyeglasses only have impact
resistant lenses, they are NOT safety glasses. Also use a face or dust mask if cutting
operation is dusty
.
3. CHECK FOR DAMAGED P
ARTS.
Before further use of a power tool, a guard or other parts and accessories that are
damaged should be carefully checked to ensure that they will operate properly and
perform their intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, breakage
o
f parts,
mounting, and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other parts
that are damaged should be properly repaired or replaced.
4. AFTER THE CHUCK IS INSTALLED TO WOOD LATHE SPINDLE.
Remove all lock levers and hex. keys from the wood lathe and chuck to prevent
accidental injury. Before turning on the wood lathe, make sure the chuck has enough
clearance by turning it manually
.
5. MAKE SURE CHUCK IS SECUREL
Y INSTALLED.
Use the 2 lock levers to lock the chuck adaptor to the wood lathe spindle.
6. SAFETY WHEN USING CHISELS.
For operator safety, do not extend the chuck jaws past its body when using chisels.
7. MAKE SURE CHUCK AND LIVE CENTER ARE PROPERLY ALIGNED BEFORE
OPERATING.
If they are not aligned, your workpiece will start to oscillate and the chuck will start
losing its grip. Risk of injury!
8. NON RECOMMENDED WORKPIECES.
Do not make any turning operations with a damaged workpiece which is split or
cracked. Risk of injury!

1. SAVOIR LE FONCTIONNEMENT D’UN TOUR À BOIS ET CE MANDRIN.
Lire et comprendre les manuels d’instructions ainsi que les étiquettes sur l’outil.
Apprennez le fonctionnement, applications et ces limites ainsi que ces dangers
spécifiques.

PORTEZ TOUJOURS DES LUNETTES DE SÉCURITÉ.
Portez toujours des lunettes de sécurité (ANSI Z87.1). Des lunettes pour la vue ont
seulement des verres résistants à l’impact, ils ne sont pas des lunettes de sécurité.
Utilisez un masque facial si l’opération devient poussièreuse.

VÉRIFIEZ LES PIÈCES ENDOMMAGÉES.
Avant l’utilisation, un garde ou autres pièces endommagés devraient être vérifiés pour
assurer qu’ils fonctionnent adéquatement. Vérifiez l’alignement des pièces mobiles,
fissures dans les pièces, assemblage, et toutes autres conditions qui peuvent affecter
le fonctionnement. Réparez ou remplacez toutes les pièces endommagées.
4. UNE FOIS QUE LE MANDRIN EST INSTALLÉ À L’ARBRE DU T
OUR À BOIS.
Pour éviter une blessure accidentelle, retirez toutes les leviers et clé hexagonales hors
du tour à bois et du mandrin.
Avant d’opérer, tournez le mandrin à la main pour vous
assurez qu’il y a suf
fisament de dégagement.
5.
ASSUREZ-VOUS QUE LE MANDRIN EST INSTALLÉ CORRECTEMENT.
Utilisez les 2 leviers pour verrouiller l’adaptateur du mandrin à l’arbre du tour à bois.
6. AVERTISSEMENT LORSQUE VOUS UTILISEZ DES CISEAUX.
Pour votre sécurité, n’ouvrez jamais les mâchoires du mandrin à fond lorsque vous
utilisez des ciseaux pour tour à bois.
7. ASSUREZ-VOUS QUE LE MANDRIN ET LA POINTE MOBILE SONT EN PARFAITE

ASSEMBLY & OPERATION
Mounting and securing chuck to wood lathe spindle
To mount the chuck to the wood lathe spindle, cafefully screw the adaptor and chuck
assembly all the way onto the spindle. The spindle flange and the chuck body contain
holes, place one lever (A) Fig.1 into a chuck hole and the second lever into a spindle
flange hole as shown in Fig.1.
To secure chuck in place, pull the 2 levers towards each
other. To loosen the chuck pull the levers away from each other. Tighten until the adaptor
face (B) comes in contact with the spindle flange (C).
Opening and closing chuck jaws
Opening and closing the chuck jaws (D) fig.1 also requires both levers (A). Place one lever
in hole (E) and the second lever into chuck hole.

o open the chuck jaws, pull the 2 levers
towards each other. To close the chuck jaws, pull the levers away from each other.
Changing chuck jaws
If outer chuck jaws are desired instead of the standard chuck jaws already mounted,
unscrew the 2 cap screws (A) Fig.2 which hold each jaw to their jaw base and remove all
4 jaws. Find the outer jaw with the limit pin (B) and position it on either the #2 or #4 jaw
base (C).
The limit pin (D) falls into a slot (E) in the chuck body which sets the jaw
capacity
, positionning the outer jaw on #2 jaw base will prevent the jaws from protruding
out of the chuck. Match the jaw numbers with the jaw base numbers and fix the outer jaws
using only 1 cap screw per jaw.
Installing wood screw in chuck
To mount wood screw in chuck, open the chuck jaws. Position the wood screw, the chuck
jaws fit just below the shoulder, close the chuck jaws. This prevents the wood screw from
being pulled out and once the jaws are completely closed, the jaw bases will fix the wood
screw in place and prevent it from turning.
Removing adaptor
If it is necessary to remove the adaptor, remove the 3 cap screws which fix it in place.
Screw 2 of the caps screws into the 2 previously unused threaded holes in the adaptor.
These 2 cap screws will lift the adaptor by tightening one then the other until the adaptor
slowly comes apart.

ASSEMBLAGE & OPÉRATION
Installation et fixation du mandrin sur l’arbre du tour à bois
Pour installer le mandrin sur l’arbre du tour à bois, vissez le mandrin à fond sur l’arbre.
Pour fixer le mandrin en place, l’épaulement de l’arbre et le corps du mandrin contiennent
des trous d’ajustement, placez un levier (A) Fig.1 dans le trou du mandrin et placez le
deuxième levier dans l’épaulement de l’arbre tel qu’illustré à la Fig.1. Tirez les deux leviers
un vers l’autre pour les verrouillés. Pour retirer le mandrin, tirez les deux leviers dans le
sens opposé. Serrez jusqu’à ce que la face de l’adaptateur (B) rentre en contact avec la
face de l’arbre (C).
Ouvrir et fermer les mâchoires du mandrin
Il est nécessaire d’utiliser les même deux leviers (A) pour ouvrir ou fermer les mâchoires
(D) fig.1. Placez un levier dans le trou (E) et le deuxième levier dans le trou du mandrin.
Pour ouvrir les mâchoires, tirez les deux leviers un vers l’autre. Pour fermer les mâchoires,
tirez les deux leviers dans le sens opposé.
Changement des mâchoires
Si vous désirez utiliser le deuxième jeu de mâchoires aulieu des mâchoires déja
installées, retirez les 2 boulons à tête cylindrique (A) Fig.2 qui les retiennent au bases à
mâchoires. Retirez les 4 mâchoires. Trouvez la nouvelle mâchoire avec goupille de
sécurité (B) et positionnez-la soit sur la base à mâchoire #2 ou #4 (C). Cette goupille de
sécurité (D) s’installe dans la rainure (E) du mandrin, ce qui limite la capacité d’ouverture
des mâchoires. Pour empêcher que les mâchoires dépassent l’extérieur du mandrin, fixez
la mâchoire avec goupille sur la base à mâchoire #2 avec un boulon à tête cylindrique.
Chaque base à mâchoire et mâchoire sont numérotées de 1 à 4, assurez-vous de
respecter l’ordre des numéros.
Installation de la vis à bois
Pour installer la vis à bois dans le mandrin, ouvrez les mâchoires. Positionnez la vis à bois
et fermez les mâchoires, ils doivent se fermer sous l’épaulement de la vis à bois. Ceci
empêchera la vis a bois d’être tirée hors du mandrin et les bases à mâchoire l’empêchera
de tourné dans le mandrin.
Désassemblage de l’adaptateur
S’il est nécessaire de retirer l’adaptateur, dévissez les 3 boulons à tête cylindrique de
l’adaptateur. Vissez 2 des 3 boulons à tête cylindrique dans les 2 trous filetés non-utilisés
auparavant. Ces boulons à tête cylindrique soulèvent et dégage l’adaptateur hors du
mandrin.
