Fast EtherCard-32
32-bit Fast Ethernet CardBus PC Card User’s Guide
Thank you for purchasing our product! This guide contains
information to install and configure the 10/100 Mbps Fast
EtherCard-32 for proper operation.
Hardware Description
Before you insert the Fast EtherCard-32 into your machine,
please verify if your notebook supports the CardBus standards
and provides the Type II or Type III Slot.
This CardBus PC card’s main PCB board is encased in a
stainless compact frame that is easily transportable. It contains
a 68-pin connector for connecting to the PC and a 15-pin flat
connector for attaching the RJ-45 media coupler. You can use
the RJ-45 connector to connect your PC to the Ethernet
network.

Transmit/Receive Activity Indicator
Color: Yellow
Function: Indicates incoming and outgoing network traffic
The Transmit/Receive LED on the adapter’s media coupler
lights up to indicate the presence of network packets passing
through the connected port. The rate of flashing is proportional
to the amount of network traffic.
Link Integrity LED Indicator
Color: Green: 10Mbps; Orange: 100Mbps
Function: Link status indicator
The Link LED on the adapter’s media coupler lights up to
indicate a successful network connection, and remains steady if
the connection is stable; otherwise check the RJ-45 connection.
The LED will be green if the adapter is operating at 10Mbps, or
orange if it is operating at 100Mbps.
Summary of LED Display
During normal network operation, the adapter’s LED indicators
demonstrate the following functions:

Notes:
1. The card auto-negotiates the speed of the
network to which it is attached, providing
seamless operation on either 10 or 100 Mbps
network segments.
2. It supports full-duplex communications, allowing
data to be sent and received simultaneously,
doubling the effective throughput. Refer to the
readme files on the driver diskette for
information on setting the transmission mode.
3. An SNMP management agent is included on the
card which allows portable PCs to be managed
using SNMP-based network management
software.
Software Driver Installation
The diskette, labeled Driver Diskette, which comes with the
package contains all the software drivers available for the PC
Card. A RELEASE.TXT file, describing the contents of the
diskette is found in the root directory. Different drivers are
stored in separate subdirectories, which also include a text
file. Select the driver you need and refer to the text file for
the installation procedure.
