HYDRAULIC PRECAUTIONS
DANGER! Seek immediate medical attention if hydraulic fluid under
pressure penetrates your skin. See Injection Injury precautions for
instructions before using a pressurized hydraulic system.
1. Do not touch or handle hydraulic hoses or components while under
pressure. Hydraulic fluid escaping under pressure has sufficient force
to penetrate your clothing and skin. A pinpoint hole may inject
hydraulic fluid into your body. Seek immediate medical attention if this
occurs (see Injection Injury).
2. Never exceed the hydraulic systems load capacity (see Specifications).
3. Do not adjust the hydraulic systems relief setting. The settings are pre-
set by the factory.
4. Hydraulic oil under pressure is hot and can cause a burn injury if
touched, sprayed or spilled. Allow the hydraulic system to cool before
conducting maintenance.
5. Hydraulic components require regular inspection. Release all pressure
from the system before you inspect it. Replace damaged hydraulic
parts with identical manufacturer's components.
6. Do not attempt makeshift repairs to a hydraulic system. Such repairs
can fail suddenly and create a hazardous condition.
7. A damaged or disconnected hydraulic hose under pressure may whip
around and inflict personal injury or damage the work area. Secure the
hose to a fixed or permanent structure with clamps or cable ties.
8. Hydraulic fluid has a combustible flash point of 200°F (93°F). Do not
expose the fluid to an ignition source.
8442923 2-3/4 Ton Pallet Jack V1.0
6 For technical questions call 1-800-665-8685
9. Change your clothing immediately if sprayed with hydraulic fluid. Store
clothing or rags contaminated with hydraulic fluid in an approved
metal safety can with a spring-closing lid and venting designed to
contain a fire.
10. Only use hydraulic fluid in the pump. Do not substitute or mix brake fluid,
or any other fluid, with the hydraulic fluid. This can result in a pump
failure and injure the user or bystander. It may also damage the pump.
INJECTION INJURY
DANGER! Seek immediate, professional medical treatment if fluid
penetrates your skin. It may feel like a pricking or sting. Do not wait for the
appearance of symptoms. A toxic reaction can occur from the exposure.
Delay in treatment can lead to amputation or death.
Inform the medical staff that you have a fluid penetration injury as soon as
you arrive at the medical facility. The severity of the symptoms will depend
on the type of fluid injected. Bring the Safety Data Sheet for the fluid with
you to the medical facility if possible.
INJECTION PRECAUTIONS
Fluid can penetrate the skin at 100 PSI pressure. Fluid escaping under
pressure from the tool has sufficient force to penetrate your clothing and
skin. Follow the precautions below to avoid an injection injury.
1. Always check for leaks wearing a face shield, safety goggles,
rubberized gloves and protective clothes.
2. Release all pressure from the system before you inspect it.
3. Do not use your hands to detect a fluid leak. Use a large piece of wood,
cardboard or paper and watch for discolouration.
4. Replace damaged parts with identical manufacturer's components to
ensure it is rated to handle the pressure.

plate (Fig. 2-2) up and slip the bolt
head under the notch in the lever
plate. Do not adjust the nut unless
the pallet jack doesnt work properly.
CAUTION! Do not loosen or over tighten the
lock nut (#13). The nut is pre-locked onto
the bolt at the factory.
3. Secure the handle to the pallet jack by
the three screws (Fig. 1-3) and spring
washers (Fig. 1-4).
IMPORTANT! It is a good idea to remove any
air bubbles that might have accumulated in
the hydraulic system during shipping (see
Bleeding the Hydraulic System).
OPERATION
This pallet jack is designed for use with open style pallets or skids only.
Closed style pallets must be placed on top of fork prior to use.
1. Insert the fork into the pallet.
2. To raise the fork, push control lever all the way down, and pump the
handle until the desired fork height is reached.
Fig.

8 For technical questions call 1-800-665-8685
3. To move the handle without affecting the fork setting, set the control
lever in the center neutral position. The load can now be pushed or
pulled using the handle.
4. To lower the fork, pull lever all the way up. Allow the load to descend
slowly in a controlled manner. The lever is spring-loaded and will
return to the neutral position when released.
WARNING! When not in use, do not allow heavy loads to remain on the fork
for an extended period of time. Always lower fork completely when not in
use.
ADJUSTING THE CONTROL HANDLE'S
THREE POSITIONS
On the handle tube (#1) of this pallet jack, you can find the control lever
(#5), which can be regulated in three positions (Fig. 3).
LOWER Pull the control lever up and the
forks/load will lower to the
desired height. The control lever
will move back the neutral
position when released.
NEUTRAL When the control lever is in the
middle position the forks will
not move when the handle tube
is pumped. The control lever
must be in the neutral position when the truck is driven.
LIFT Push the control lever down and pump the handle tube to raise
the forks/load to the desired height.
These three positions are set at the factory
to work as soon as the handle tube is
attached. Check to see if each of the 3
control lever positions work well. If the
forks do not raise or lower as expected,
proceed to the following steps (Fig. 4).
1. Set the control lever (Fig. 3) to the
lower position. If the fork frame does
not lower, turn the nut (#13) clockwise
until the fork frame lowers.
2. Push the control lever down to the lift position. If the fork frame does not
elevate, turn the nut (#13) counterclockwise until the fork frame elevates.
Fig. 3
Fig. 4
V1.0 2-3/4 Ton Pallet Jack 8442923

3. Check again to see if the truck works well in the 3 control positions. If not,
repeat the steps above until the pallet jack lowers and elevates properly.
WARNING! Only use this pallet jack for loads weighing less than the rated
loading capacity. To avoid serious bodily injury or death, and/or property
damage, there is overload protection in this pallet jack. It will stop working
automatically when the load is over loading capacity.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient, easier
to control and will have fewer problems.
2. Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace damaged or
worn components. Only use identical replacement parts when
servicing.
3. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
4. Keep the tool clean, dry and free from oil/grease at all times.
5. Maintain the tools labels and name plates. These carry important
information. If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for
replacements.
WARNING! Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool. An
improperly repaired tool may present a hazard to the user and/or others.
BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
During shipment or after an oil refill, air may become trapped in the
hydraulic system causing poor lifting performance. Follow these steps to
purge air from the system:
1. Remove the oil filler plug and fill the pump with hydraulic fluid to
full level.
2. Move the control handle to the lower position.
3. Pump several full strokes to eliminate any air in the system.
4. Check the oil filler hole and if necessary, top off the oil filler hole with
hydraulic oil.
5. Replace the oil filler plug and close the release valve.
6. Test the lift several times for proper operation before putting it into
use. After bleeding, if the ram still does not appear to be working
properly, do not use the ram until a qualified service technician has
repaired it.
8442923 2-3/4 Ton Pallet Jack V1.0
10 For technical questions call 1-800-665-8685
HYDRAULIC OIL CHANGE
Check the oil level annually by removing the oil
plug (#46) on top of the pump housing. When
changing or adding oil, fill the tank through the
oil plug hole (Fig. 5-2) to 80% capacity with
hydraulic jack oil, about 2-1/2 in. deep (Fig. 5-3) in
the pump housing (Fig. 5-1). Do not use any other
type of oil. When finished, replace oil plug.
SEAL AND O-RING REPLACEMENT FOR RAM AND
PLUNGER PISTON
1. Raise the pallet jack by pumping handle.
2. Remove spring shaft (#17). This will free the pump and handle
assembly from the pallet jack.
3. Remove the oil plug (#46), turn pump over and empty the oil into a
suitable container. Pump handle until all oil has drained. Dispose of
used hydraulic oil according to local disposal regulations.
4. Pull out plunger piston (#40) and/or ram piston (#42).
5. Remove all O-rings and seals (Fig. 6).
6. Insert new O-ring or seal one at a time
making sure to replace with the same
size that was removed.
7. Reassemble and fill the oil tank through
the oil plug hole to 80% capacity with
new hydraulic jack oil, about 2-1/2 in.
deep in pump housing (Fig. 5).
LUBRICATION
Inspect and lubricate the tool when required. Wheel bearings are sealed and
require no lubrication. The crankshaft features light oil bushings (oil lite
bushing) that also require no lubrication. Lightly oil all other moving parts.
NOTICE! NEVER use a penetrating oil to lubricate the tool. Penetrating oil
may act as a solvent that can break down the grease and cause the tool to
seize up.
