Habermaaß-Spiel Nr. 4521
Rechen-Piraten mini
Ein piratenstarkes LernSpiel für
2 - 4 Rechen-Piraten von
6 - 99 Jahren. Mit Solospiel.
Spielidee: Wolfgang Dirscherl
und Markus Nikisch
Illustration: Guido Hoffmann
Spieldauer: ca. 15 Minuten
Die Rechen-Piraten haben den Schatz des berühmten
Piraten Mathematikus gefunden: zwanzig glitzernde

in diesem Spiel heißen:
Addition (Zahlen zusammenzählen oder
„Plus rechnen“), Beispiel: 4 plus 3 = 7
Multiplikation (Zahlen miteinander mal nehmen
oder „Mal rechnen“), Beispiel: 4 mal 3 = 12
Subtraktion (dabei wird eine kleinere Zahl
von einer größeren Zahl abgezogen und ist
das Gegenteil der Addition oder „Minus rechnen“),
Beispiel: 4 minus 3 = 1
an. Mit der Rechenscheibe könnt ihr eure Rechenergebnisse
kontrollieren. Dabei sind alle Zahlen von 1 bis 10 miteinander
kombinierbar.
DEUTSCH
DEUTSCH
5
Versucht es am Beispiel 8 + 5:
Um auf die richtige Lösung
zu kommen, sucht ihr auf
der Rechenscheibe die
Zahlenkombination 8 / 5
und markiert sie.
Jetzt seht ihr in der
Plus-Ausstanzung
(schwarzer Rahmen)
In diesem Fall
richtigen Piraten (= Rechenart) aufdecken.
Solospiel

Pirate Arithmetics
Mini Version
A pirate-worthy educational game for 2 - 4 arithmetic
pirates ages 6 - 99. Includes a variation for a single player.
Author: Wolfgang Dirscherl
and Markus Nikisch
Illustrations: Guido Hoffmann
Length of the game: approx. 15 minutes
The arithmetic pirates have found the treasure of the
notorious pirate Mathematikus: 20 shining gold coins!
The coins show the numbers from 1 to 10.
The pirates would not be arithmetic pirates
if they didn't immediately begin an exciting
game of arithmetic with the treasure.
Contents
3 pirates
20 gold coins
46 number cards
1 calculating disk (to check one's results)
Set of game instructions
12
Game Idea
The aim of the game is to be the first to collect four number
cards. First players choose the type of mathematical opera-
tion to be performed (addition, multiplication, subtraction);
then the number pirate, whose turn it is, flips over a number
card. The number shown should be the result of the opera-
tion he is going to perform. He uncovers two gold coins and
uses the two numbers shown to make his calculation. If his
result and the number on the number card are the same he
receives the card as a reward.
Again, the player to first collect four number cards is the
winner.
The arithmetic calculating disk
The calculating disk is the 'fact checker' and it allows you
to check your results to see if they are correct. The colored
window boxes show specific operations.
Black = Addition
Red = Subtraction
Green = Multiplication
All numbers between 1 and 10 may be combined.
For example, try it with the operation 8 + 5:
In order to obtain the
answer look for the
combination 8 / 5 on the
arithmetic disk and mark it.
ENGLISCH
ENGLISCH
13
Now you can read the
result in the window of
the Plus sign (black frame)!
If you want to know the result
of the operation “8 - 5” or “8 · 5”
refer to the subtraction window (red)
or the multiplication window (green).
The arithmetic sign for multiplication ( x ) on the disc is “ · “.
Preparation of the Game
Before starting to play, agree on a type of operation:
addition (+), multiplication ( · ) or subtraction (-). Place the
pirate figure showing the corresponding arithmetic sign in
the center of the table where everybody can see it clearly.
Then select all the number cards with the chosen sign on
the back.
• If you choose subtraction, you play with 10 cards.
• If you choose addition, you have 19 cards
• If you multiply, you will need 41 cards.
Shuffle the selected number cards and place them
face-down in a pile.
Mix the twenty gold coins and distribute them face-down
on the table arranging them into five rows, making sure
that they aren't on top of each other.
Get the arithmetic calculating disk ready. The remaining
pirates and number cards are not needed and are kept in
the treasure chest.
14
How to Play
Play in a clockwise direction. The youngest pirate starts and
uncovers the top card.
The card shows a number. Now uncover two gold coins
and use the numbers of the coins to do the agreed opera-
tion. With a bit of luck or if you have a good memory and
you uncover two suitable coins, your result will coincide
with the number on the number card.
So compare the result of your operation with the
number of the number card:
Correct result?
Great mathematician! As a reward you get the number
card and place it in front of you. Then turn both gold
coins around again and uncover a new card from the
pile of number cards.
Wrong result?
Tough luck! The result does not coincide.
Turn both gold coins around.
Then it's the turn of the next player to try his luck at
calculating!
Hint:
You can, of course, at any time check your results with the
calculating disk.

15
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as a player has collected four
number cards thus winning the game.
Watch out:
If you do subtraction (-), the number cards might run out
before any player has gathered four of them. In this case
the player who has collected the most cards wins the
game. In case of a draw there are various winners.
Variation for professionals
Play the game with all three types of operation at the time.
The rules of the basic game apply except for the following
changes:
Place all three pirates in the center of the table
Use all 46 number cards. Shuffle them and put
them into a pile
Do your calculation according to whatever type
of operation you want
Hint:
If you want to make the game even more difficult place the
three pirates face-down in the center of the table. Now you
have to uncover not only two suitable gold coins but also
the pirate which corresponds with the calculation.
16
Game for one player
Playing this variation you are on your own on the treasure
hunt. Try to do the correct calculations for as many number
cards as possible. Play according to the rules of the basic
game, taking in account the following changes
Choose a type of operation and select nine number
cards. Shuffle the cards and place them in a pile in
front of you.
Uncover the top card. You have two attempts to
obtain the solution.
If your outcome was correct, you place the number
card face-down in front of you.
If you did not calculate right after two attempts,
place the card face-up in front of you.
The game is over as soon as the pile of number cards
is used up. You win if you have collected five or more
number cards.

Jeu Habermaaß n° 4521
Mini-jeu :
Mathématicus : vingt pièces d'or étincelantes !
3 pirates
20 pièces d'or
