Here are some basic safety precautions that you should carefully follow as you use your

new Courant toaster. Read all instructions carefully! Courant is not responsible for dam-

age or injuries caused by improper use of the appliance.

GENERAL SAFETY

1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS

2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

3. To protect against electrical shock do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in

water or other liquid.

4. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with re-

duced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowl-

edge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the

appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

5. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

6. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning.

7. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or aer the appliance

malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner.

8. Do not use outdoors.

9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or let it come into contact with

any hot surfaces.

10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

11. To disconnect, be sure the high-li toasting lever is in the up position and then

remove plug from wall outlet.

12. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

13. Oversize foods, metal foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted in a toaster as

they may involve a risk of fire or electric shock.

14. A fire may occur if toasters are covered or touching flammable material including

curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation.

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

CAUTION HOT SURFACES: This appliance generates heat and escaping steam

during use. Proper precautions must be taken to prevent the risk of burns, fires,

or other injury to persons or damage to property.

1. A person who has not read and understood all operating, toasting, and safety

instructions is not qualified to operate this appliance. All users of this appliance

must read and understand this Instruction Manual before operating or cleaning

this appliance.

2. If this appliance falls or accidentally becomes immersed in water, unplug it from

the wall outlet immediately. Do not reach into the water!

3. When using this appliance, provide adequate air space above and on all sides for

air circulation. Do not operate this appliance while it is touching or near curtains,

wall coverings, clothing, dishtowels or other flammable materials.

4. To reduce the risk of fire, do not leave this appliance unattended during use.

5. If this appliance begins to malfunction during use, immediately put the toasting

lever in the up position and then unplug the cord from the outlet. Do not use or

attempt to repair a malfunctioning appliance!

6. The cord to this appliance should only be plugged directly into a 120 V AC electri-

cal wall outlet; no extension cord should be used.

7. Use the toaster on a hard, flat and even surface. Do not place it near a flame or

heat or on a so surface (such as carpet). Avoid placing it where it may tip over

during use. Dropping the toaster could cause it to malfunction.

WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD. Never attempt to dislodge food inside

the toaster while the toaster is plugged in. Doing so could cause an electrical

shock hazard or a risk of fire.

CAUTION: This appliance is hot during operation and retains heat for some time

aer turning o. Always use oven mitts when handling hot materials and allow

metal parts to cool before cleaning. Do not place anything on top of the Toaster

while it is operating or while it is hot.

CAUTION

DO NOT toast pastries with runny fillings or frosting.

DO NOT toast torn slices of bread.

DO NOT place buttered bread or wrapped food into the Toaster.

DO NOT toast small-size breads, mini-baguettes, breadsticks, etc.

NOTES ON THE CORD

The provided short power-supply cord should be used to reduce the risk resulting from

becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Do not use an extension cord with

this product. Always plug directly into a wall outlet/receptacle.

NOTES ON THE PLUG

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk

of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit

fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.

Do not modify the plug in any way.

ELECTRIC POWER

If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your appliance may not oper-

ate properly. It should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other appliances.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

1. Remove all packaging materials including those that may be inside the toasting

slots or toasting lever slot.

2. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

3. Do not put the Toaster, cord or plug in water.

4. Make sure the crumb tray is locked in position on the bottom of the Toaster and

the toasting lever is in the UP position.

5. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V outlet.

6. Turn the browning selector knob to (1), the lightest setting.

7. Lower the toasting lever until it locks in place. Operate without bread once or twice

to burn o any manufacturing residue. You may notice a slight amount of smoke;

this is normal and will stop as the heating elements continue to heat.

AUTOMATIC CENTERING GUIDES

Lowering the toasting lever closes the centering guides, and holds the bread or toaster

food centrally in the toasting slots.

NOTE: The toasting lever will not lock down unless the Toaster is plugged into a 120 V AC

electrical outlet.

TOASTING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Make sure the crumb tray, located on the bottom of the toaster, is locked in posi-

tion, and the toasting lever is in the UP position.

2. Make sure no bread or other objects are inside the toasting slots. Place toaster on

a flat, level, heat resistant surface.

3. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.

4. Position the browning selector knob to desired setting. To test toasting times for

browning, it is best to use both toasting slots. Position the browning selector knob

between 3 and 4 (medium); then adjust each subsequent toasting to your prefer-

ence.

5. Remove all protective wrappings from food before placing into the toasting slot(s).

6. IMPORTANT: Avoid toasting torn bread slices or small pieces of toaster food that

may get lodged in toasting slot(s).

7. Insert bread or toaster food into the toasting slot(s). Lower the toasting lever until

locked into place. The automatic centering guides hold food upright for uniform

side-to-side toasting. When the bread is lowered into position, toasting will begin.

NOTE: When toasting a single slice, the bread may be placed in either toasting slot.

NOTE: To prevent a fire hazard, never place bread over the opening of the toaster; always

place bread into the slots.

NOTE: DO NOT change the browning selector knob selection during the toasting cycle.

First turn the browning selector knob to CANCEL; then turn the browning selector knob to

adjust the browning level, lower the toasting lever and toast until the desired toast color

is achieved.

8. When the toast reaches the selected browning level, it will pop up automatically.

9. In order to remove smaller toasted items, your unit is equipped with an extra-li

function. Aer toasting is complete, simply li the lever a bit more and the items

will be easier to access.

10. Remove bread from toasting slot(s). Use care when removing bread as the bread

and the top of the toaster will still be hot.

11. IMPORTANT: Never use a fork or sharp-edged utensil to remove toast, because

that may damage the heating element or cause injury.

12. Unplug cord from wall outlet when not in use.

STOP TOASTING

To stop or interrupt any toasting cycle, turn the browning selector knob to CANCEL. You

will feel a click upon reaching CANCEL. The bread will automatically rise; the Toaster will

now be OFF.

CONVENIENCE FOOD TOASTING

Many varieties of packaged convenience food are available today, both frozen and

non-frozen (toaster pastry). Since toaster foods and individual tastes vary, it is diicult

to recommend exact browning selector knob settings. However, aer a little experimen-

tation you will discover the best setting for your needs. You may also wish to refer to the

heating instructions on convenience food packaging.

PASTRIES

For best results, follow the instructions printed on the pastry package. If the package does

not have instructions, position the browning selector knob to medium, between (3) and

(4). Some pastries may require a second toasting cycle.

NOTE: Do not use this Toaster for toasting pastry items with runny-type frosting or open

fillings.

NON-FROZEN TOASTER PASTRIES

Turn the browning selector knob to a lighter setting. For thicker convenience foods, it

may be necessary to adjust the browning selector knob to a higher setting and a longer

toasting cycle.

REMOVING LODGED FOODS

1. Unplug the toaster from the outlet.

2. Use the high-li lever to make it easier to remove smaller toasted items.

3. If, aer toasting, a piece of bread or any other toaster food becomes lodged in any

of the toasting slots, unplug the Toaster and allow it to cool.

4. Hold the toasting lever down. Turn the Toaster upside down and shake the food

loose.

IMPORTANT: Never use a fork or sharp-edged utensil to remove toast, because that may

damage the heating element or cause injury.

IMPORTANT POINTS

• Remove all protective wrappings from food before placing into the toasting slot(s).

• For best results, clean the crumb tray frequently.

• Dierent breads require dierent color settings. Turn the browning selector knob

to CANCEL button at any time to check toast color.

• Do not block top opening. Do not place any object over the top opening.

• Do not toast buttered bread or buttered pita bread. Melted butter will cause fire.

• When toasting more than one slice of bread, use slices of similar size, thickness

and freshness.

• Stale bread, thin bread or sweet bread products, such as tea cakes and fruit loaf,

brown much more quickly than ordinary bread, so they should be toasted on the

lighter settings.

• Never immerse Toaster, cord or plug in water or other liquid.

• Never use a fork or sharp-edged utensil to remove toast, because that may dam-

age the heating element or cause injury.

USER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance requires little maintenance. It contains no user-serviceable parts. Any ser-

vicing requiring disassembly other than cleaning must be performed by a qualified appli-

ance repair technician.

CARE & CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION: Do not immerse Toaster, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.

CAUTION: Be sure the Toaster is unplugged before cleaning.

CRUMB TRAY: The hinged crumb tray is located on the bottom of the Toaster.

(See Figure 2.) Working over a sink or garbage receptacle, pull the latch to unlock and

release the tray outwards. Wipe the crumb tray with a clean, damp cloth. Push crumb tray

back into position. Make sure it is locked securely into the bottom of the Toaster.

EXTERIOR: Wipe the Toaster exterior with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive clean-

ers. Do not put cord, or plug in water or liquid.

STORING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Unplug unit, allow to cool, and clean before storing.

2. Store the toaster in its box in a clean, dry place.

3. Never store the toaster while it is hot or still plugged in.

4. Never wrap cord tightly around the appliance, wrap the cord around the cord clips

located on the bottom of the Toaster.

5. Do not put any stress on the cord where it enters the unit, as it could cause the cord to

fray and break.

Courant™ warrants this product against defects in materi-

al and workmanship to the original purchaser as specified

below. Please be sure that the product is registered online

within fourteen (14) days of purchase.

PARTS – if the product is determined to have a

manufacturing defect, within a period of one

(1) year from the date of the original purchase,

Courant™ will repair or replace the product

parts at no charge (for parts) to consumers in

the U.S.A. and Canada.

LABOR – if the product is determined to have

a manufacturing defect, within a period of

ninety (90) Days from the date of the original

purchase, Courant™ will repair or replace the

product at no charge to consumers in the U.S.A.

and Canada. Aer ninety (90) days, it will be the

responsibility of the consumer.

Shipping costs to and from our warranty service center

are the sole responsibility of the consumer.

To obtain warranty service by an authorized Courant™

service center, please email us at: service@courantusa.

com to obtain a Repair and Maintenance Authorization

(RMA) number and to locate the Warranty Service Center

nearest you. Once authorized, you must mail the product

to the authorized Courant™ service center in its original

product packaging materials or equivalent, to prevent

damage while in transit.

Further, should Courant™ determine that the product is

outside of the Warranty terms, Courant™ will return the

product to sender at sender’s expense without being re-

paired or replaced, unless authorized by the consumer

to service the out-of-warranty product at consumer’s ex-

pense. All handling or restocking charges for returns and/

or replacements shall be non-refundable.

Courant™ specifically excludes from this warranty any

non-electric/mechanical attachments, accessories, and

disposable parts including, but not limited to, outside

case, connecting cables, batteries, and AC adapters.

Courant™ reserves the right to repair or replace defective

products with the same, equivalent, or newer models.

We reserve the right to either repair or replace product at

our discretion. Replacement may be either new or refur-

bished and while every endeavor will be made to ensure

it is the same model, if same model is not available, it will

be replaced with a model of equal or higher specification.

Normal “Wear and Tear” is not covered by this, or any oth-

er, warranty. Further, Courant™ hereby reserves the right

to determine “Wear and Tear” on any and all products.

Tampering or opening the product casing or shell will void

this warranty in its entirety.

In addition, this warranty does not apply if the product

has been damaged by accident, abuse, misuse, or mis-

application; has been altered or modified without the

written permission of Courant™; has been serviced by a

non-authorized repair center of Courant™; has not been

properly maintained or operated according to the opera-

tion manual; has been used for commercial, non-house-

hold purposes; has been cosmetically damaged; was not

imported by Courant™; was not manufactured according

to specification of the United States market; was dam-

aged due to improper installation or neglect by the con-

sumer; was damaged due to improper packaging in ship-

ment to the Warranty Service Center; was damaged due

to natural disasters; or if the serial number for the product

has been removed or defaced.

ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WAR-

RANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A

PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO

ONE (1) YEAR PARTS AND NINETY (90) DAYS LABOR FROM

NOTAS ACERCA DEL CABLE

Debe utilizarse el cable de suministro de energía corto que viene con la unidad para

reducir el riesgo de enredarse o tropezarse con un cable más largo. No use un cable de

extensión con este producto. Conecte directamente en un receptáculo/tomacorrientes

NOTAS SOBRE LA CLAVIJA

Este electrodoméstico cuenta con una clavija polarizada (una pata es mas ancha que la

otra). Para reducir el riesgo de descarga eléctrica esta clavija puede conectarse con un

tomacorrientes de una sola forma. Si la clavija no puede conectarse al tomacorrientes,

dele vuelta a la clavija si aún así no puede hacer la conexión, entre en contacto con un

electricista calificado. De ninguna forma trate de modificar la clavija.

SUMINISTRO ELÉCTRICO

Si el circuito eléctrico está sobrecargado con otros electrodomésticos, probablemente su

electrodoméstico no pueda funcionar correctamente. Debe estar conectado a un circuito

eléctrico separado de los otros electrodomésticos.

INSTRUCCIONES DE USO PARA LA PRIMERA VEZ

1. Retire todos los materiales de empaque incluyendo aquellos que puedan estar

dentro de las ranuras de tostado o la ranura de la palanca.

2. Limpie el exterior con un trapo húmedo. Seque totalmente. No utilice limpiadores

abrasivos.

3. No coloque el tostador, cable o clavija en el agua.

4. Asegúrese que la charola de migajas esté cerrada y en su posición en la parte infe-

rior del tostador y que la palanca del tostador esté en la posición de hasta arriba.

5. Desenrolle el cable de corriente del área de almacenaje del cable por debajo del

tostador y conéctelo en el tomacorrientes de 120 V AC.

6. Gire la perilla selectora del nivel de tostado al (1), el ajuste más claro.

7. Baje la palanca de tostado hasta debajo de modo que quede asegurada. Ope-

re sin pan una o dos veces para quemar cualquier residuo de fabricación. Puede

notar una leve cantidad de humo; esto es normal y se detendrá conforme sigan

calentando los elementos calentadores.

GUÍAS DE CENTRADO AUTOMÁTICO

Al bajar las palancas de tostado se cierran las guías de centrado y se sostiene el pan o los

alimentos a tostar en las ranuras de tostado.

NOTA: La palanca de tostado no quedará asegurada hasta abajo a menos que el tostador

esté conectado a un tomacorrientes de 120 V AC.

INSTRUCCIONES DE TOSTADO

1. Asegúrese que la charola de migajas, localizada en la parte inferior del tostador,

se encuentre cerrada y en posición y que la palanca de tostado se encuentre en la

oposición superior.

2. Asegúrese que no hay pan u otros objetos en las ranuras de tostado Coloque el

tostador en una superficie plana, nivelada y resistente al calor.

3. Conecte el cable de suministro eléctrico en un tomacorrientes de 120 V AC.

4. Coloque la perilla de nivel de tostado en la posición deseada. Para probar

los tiempos de tostado para el nivel de tostado es mejor utilizar las dos ranuras de

tostado. Coloque la perilla de nivel de tostado entre 3 y 4 (medio); después ajuste

cada tostado subsecuente hasta encontrar su preferido.

5. Retire todas las envolturas protectoras de los alimentos antes de colocarlos den-

tro de las ranuras del tostador.

6. IMPORTANTE: Evite tostar rebanadas de pan torcidas o pedazos pequeños de co-

mida para tostar que puedan quedar atorados dentro de las ranuras del tostador.

7. Inserte pan o alimentos para tostar en la(s) ranura(s) del tostador. Baje la palanca

de tostado hasta que quede asegurada. Las guías de centrado automático sos-

tendrán los alimentos en la posición vertical para que haya un tostado uniforme

de lado a lado al tostar. Cuando el pan baja a su posición, comenzará el tostado.

NOTA: Cuando tueste una sola rebanada, el pan puede colocarse en cualquier ranura del

tostador.

NOTA: Para prevenir el peligro de incendio nunca coloque pan sobre las aberturas del

tostador; colóquelo siempre dentro de las ranuras de tostado.

NOTA: NO cambie la selección del nivel de tostado durante el ciclo de tostado Primero

coloque la perilla de selección en CANCEL; después coloque la perilla de selección de

tostado en el nivel deseado, baje la palanca de tostado y tueste hasta lograr el nivel de-

seado de tostado.

8. El pan saltará automáticamente cuando alcance el nivel de tostado seleccionado,

9. Para poder retirar alimentos tostados pequeños su unidad está equipada con una

función de levantamiento alto. Después de que el tostado ya terminó, simplemen-

te eleve un poco más la palanca para poder tener más a la mano el alimento tos-

tado.

10. Retire el pan de la(s) ranura(s) de tostado. Tenga cuidado cuando retire el pan ya

que el pan y la parte superior del tostador pueden estar calientes.

11. IMPORTANTE: Nunca utilice un tenedor u objetos filosos para retirar el alimento

tostado ya que puede dañar los elementos calentadores o lesionarse.

12. Para interrumpir el tostado, sólo gire la perilla de selección del nivel de tostado a

la posición CANCEL.

13. Desconecte el cable del tomacorrientes cuando el tostador no esté en uso.

DETENER EL TOSTADO

Para detener o interrumpir el ciclo de tostado, coloque la perilla de selección del nivel de

tostado en la posición CANCEL. El pan se elevará automáticamente. Ahora el tostador se

encuentra apagado (OFF).

TOSTADO DE COMIDA RÁPIDA

Hoy en día se encuentra disponible una gran variedad de alimentos rápidos, ya sea con-

gelada o sin congelar (pastelillos). Ya que los alimentos para tostar y los gustos individua-

les varían, es difícil recomendar el ajuste adecuado de la perilla de selección de tostado.

Sin embargo, después de experimentar un poco descubrirá el mejor ajuste de acuerdo

a sus necesidades. También deseará referirse a las instrucciones de calentamiento que

vienen en el empaque de los alimentos.

PASTELILLOS

Para mejores resultados siga las instrucciones impresas en el paquete de los pastelillos,

Si el paquete no tiene instrucciones, coloque la perilla de selección del nivel de tostado

en el nivel medio, entre (3) y (4). Algunos pastelillos pueden requerir un segundo ciclo de

tostado.

NOTA: No utilice este tostador para tostar pastelillos que tienen glaseado o relleno ex-

puesto.

PASTELILLOS SIN CONGELAR PARA TOSTADOR

Coloque la perilla de selección del nivel de tostado en un ajuste más bajo. Para alimentos

más gruesos, será necesario ajustar la perilla de selección del nivel de tostado en un nivel

más alto y un ciclo de tostado más largo.

RETIRANDO ALIMENTOS ATASCADOS

1. Desenchufe la tostadora de la toma.

2. Utilice la palanca de levantamiento alto para facilitar la remoción de alimentos

tostados pequeños.

3. Si después de tostar, un pedazo de pan u otro alimento para tostar, se atasca en

alguna de las ranuras de tostado, desconecte el tostador y permita que se enfríe.

4. Coloque la palanca del tostador hasta abajo. Voltee de cabeza el tostador y sacu-

da la comida atascada.

IMPORTANTE: Nunca utilice un tenedor o utensilio filoso para retirar el alimento atasca-

do, ya que puede dañar los elementos calentadores o lesionarse.

PUNTOS IMPORTANTES

• Retire todas las envolturas protectoras de los alimentos antes de colocarlos en

la(s) ranura(s) del tostador.

• Para mejores resultados, limpie frecuentemente la charola de migajas.

• Los diferentes tipos de panes tienen diferentes ajustes de tostado. Coloque la

perilla de selección del nivel de tostado en CANCEL en cualquier momento para

revisar el color del tostado.

• No obstruya las aberturas superiores. No coloque ningún objeto sobre las abertu-

ras superiores.

• No tueste pan con mantequilla o pan pita con mantequilla. La mantequilla derre-

tida puede causar un incendio.

• El pan duro, el pan delgado o los productos de pan dulce como los pastelillos o

pan de frutas se tuestan más rápido que el pan normal, de modo que deben ser

tostados con el ajuste más bajo.

• Nunca sumerja el tostador, su cable o la clavija en agua u otro líquido.

• Nunca utilice un tenedor u objetos filosos para retirar el alimento tostado ya que

puede dañar los elementos calentadores o lesionarse.

INSTRUCCIONES DE MANTENIMIENTO DEL USUARIO

Este electrodoméstico requiere poco mantenimiento. No cuenta con partes a las que el

usuario pueda darles servicios. Cualquier servicio, además de la limpieza, que requiera

desarmar la unidad debe ser efectuada por un técnico de reparación de electrodomés-

ticos.

INSTRUCCIONES DE CUIDADO Y LIMPIEZA

PRECAUCIÓN: No sumerja el tostador, su cable o la clavija en agua u otro líquido.

PRECAUCIÓN: Antes de limpiarlo, asegúrese que el tostador está desconectado.

CHAROLA DE MIGAJAS: La charola de migajas articulada se encuentra en la parte inferior

del tostador.

(Vea la figura 2) Trabajando sobre el fregadero o el receptáculo de basura, jale el pestillo

para desbloquear y liberar la charola de migajas. Límpiela con un paño húmedo y limpio.

Coloque la charola de migajas en su lugar, Asegúrese que queda asegurada en la parte

inferior del tostador.

EXTERIOR: Limpie la parte externa del tostador con un paño húmedo y limpio. No use

limpiadores abrasivos. No sumerja el cable y/o clavija en agua u otro líquido.

INSTRUCCIONES DE ALMACENAMIENTO

1. Desconecte la unidad, permita que enfríe y limpie antes de almacenarla.

2. Guarde el tostador en su caja en un sitio seco y limpio.

3. Nunca guarde el tostador si está caliente o conectado.

4. No enrolle el cable de forma apretada alrededor del electrodoméstico. Enrolle el

cable alrededor de las patitas que se encuentran localizadas en la parte inferior

del tostador.

5. No jale el cable donde se encuentra unido al tostador ya que eso puede causar

que se pele y se rompa
