CHANNELS
Using Memory Channels
The radio has 10 memory locations (09-09). to quickly access frequently used channels
To access the memory channels. press the MEMO/M.PRG button. The LCD displays the channel
number on the left, and the memory location in smaller numbers to the right. Turn the CHUSQL
knob to select a memory channel. To exit the memory channel mode, press the MEMO/M.PRG
button again.
Programming Memory Channels
To enter channels into memory:
1. Press the MEMO/M.PRG button
2.
Press and hold the MONl button then press the MEMO/M.PRG button. The memory location
number begins to flash.
3.
Press the UP or DOWN key to get the desired memory location.
4.
Press the MEMO/M.PRG button. The channel number begins to Rash.
5.
Press the HI/LO/BAND key to select either the
US
or International band for the channel you
wish to store.
6.
Press the UP or DOWN key to reach the desired channel for this memory location
7.
Press and hold the MONl button then press the MEMO/M.PRG button to Save the memory
location and exit programming.
8.
To store additional memory channels. repeat the above procedure.
Press the MEMO/M.PRG button to exit the memory channel mode
Scanning Memory Channels
To scan the memory channels, press the MEMO/M.PRG button, then press and hold the
SCAN/DUAL key for a few seconds. "SCAN" appears on the LCD as the radio scans the memory
channels, stopping on an active channel. Press the SCAN/DUAL key again to exit.

SCANNING FEATURES
Scanning All Channels
The TM-882 scans al1 channels in priority mode.
In priority scanning, the radio rapidly scans through channels. either in the USA or International
band. It stops scanning on busy channels and remains stopped several seconds after the signal
disappears allowing time to answer the cal1 if necessary. At the same time, Channel 16 is
constantly checked for activity. allowing for much quicker response to Channel 16 traffic.
To scan channels. press and hold the
SCANIDUAL
button for a few seconds. The TM-882 begins
scanning channels using the scan method programmed in the radio. The word "SCAN" appears on
the LCD. To stop scanning. press the
SCANIDUAL
button, your radio will stop on the current
arrived channel.
Deleting Channels from Scan
To delete a channel from scan. select the channel to be deleted. Press the
MONl
and
SCANIDUAL
button keys at the same time.
"L"
appears on the LCD, indicating the channel is
locked out of scan. This is useful for bypassing channels that are continuously busy. To activate a
skipped channel, select the channel to be activated then press the
MONl
and
SCANDUAL
keys
at the same time.
Dual and Triple Watch Scanning
To scan selected channels, there are two options: Dual Watch and Triple Watch
In Dual Watch scanning, your radio toggles between Channel 16 and the current channel. In Triple
Watch scanning, it toggles between Channel 16, the Call Channel. and the current channel.
Programming for Dual or Triple Watch Scanning
1.
Turn the unit off. Press the
MON1
button while turning the power on until there are characters
appear on LCD. Release the
MONl
button.
2.
Press the
UP
or
DOWN
key until "02du" (for Dual Watch) or "03tr" (for Triple Watch) appears
on the LCD.
3. Press the

key or turn off the radio to store programming
To scan channels. press the SCANIDUAL key. The radio begins scanning channels using the
scan method programmed in the radio. The characters "DUAL" or "TRI" appears on the LCD.
The TM-882 rapidly scans through channels. and stops scanning on busy channels. The radio
remains stopped several seconds after the signal disappears allowing time to answer the cal1 if
necessary.

C. Opérations de Base
Avant d'utiliser votre émetteur récepteur, prenez le temps d'effectuer les préparations suivantes. Installez la
batterie Ni-MH 12V CC sur l'Unité Principale et chargez-la entiérement. Vous pouvez ensuite utiliser votre VHF en
vous assurant que vous avez bien installé l'antenne.
Mettre I'Emetteur Récepteur en Marche
Tournez la molette VOLUME pour mettre l'appareil en marche ou
à
l'arrêt
;
ceci est confirmé par un clic. Continuez
tourner la molette pour ajuster le niveau sonore comme il vous convient.
Rétroéclairage de l'Affichage
La radio étant allumée, appuyez une fois sur la touche LOCWLIGHT pour que l'écran s'allume pendant

secondes.
Si vous appuyez une deuxième fois, le rétro éclairage s'éteint.
Monitor
La fonction Monitor permet d'entendre les signaux faibles d'un Canal. Pour activer le fonction Monitor. appuyez sur
la touche MONI et maintenez-la enfoncée pour entendre la réception du canal sur lequel vous êtes. Relachez la
touche MONI lorsque vos avez fini d'écouter.
Utilisation du Verrouillage de Clavier
Vous pouvez verrouiller le clavier de votre VHF pour éviter toute opération involontaire. Pour ce faire. appuyez sur
la touche MONI et maintenez-la enfoncée tout en appuyant sur la touche LOCWLIGHT

Reproduisez la
manipulation pour déverrouiller le clavier. Une icdne représentant une clé apparaît dans la fenétre d'affichage
lorsque le clavier est verrouillé. Toutes les touches sont alors verrouillées
à
l'exception de MONI, PTT,16 et
LIGHTILOCK.

Sélection de la Puissance HlGHlLOW
Pour allonger la durée de vie de la batterie, appuyez sur la touche HIILOIBAND tout en maintenant la touche MONI
enfoncée, de manière
à
sélectionner un fonctionnement
à
puissance d'émission réduite pour votre VHF. Pour
envoyer ou entendre des signaux longues distances ou plus faibles, reproduisez l'opération décrite pour
sélectionner HI. La haute puissance d'émission (Hl)est de 5.0 W. et la basse puissance d'émission (LO) est de
1.0 W. Lorsque I'Unité fonctionne en réduction de puissance, la mention LO apparait sur I'écran, et elle disparaît
lorsque l'on passe en pleine puissance d'émission.
Sélection du Canal
Appuyez sur la touche CHLlSQL (UP ou DOWN) pour parcourir les canaux disponibles.
Note :Tous les numéros de canaux ne sont pas disponibles sur bs bandes Internationales (INT).
Transmission et Réception
La touche PTT est située sur le cbté du RT-250. Avant toute transmission, assurez-vous que le canal utilisé n'est
pas destiné uniquement
à
la réception. Pour transmettre un message, appuyez sur la touche PTT et maintenez-la
enfoncée. Parlez clairement dans le micro de la VHF. Lorsque vous avez terminé, relâchez la touche PTT. Durant
la transmission, la mention 'TX' apparait sur I'écran. Pour recevoir un appel, relachez tout simplement la touche
PTT.
Ajustement du niveau Squelch (réduction du bruit)
La fonction Squelch est utilisée pour éliminer les bruits statiques et de fond et permettre des opérations
silencieuses du RT-250 jusqu'à la réception d'une transmission. Si le niveau Sqelch est trop élevé. seules les
transmissions les plus fortes sont audibles, et si le niveau est trop bas, on entend les bruits statiques et de fond par
intermittence.
Pour ajuster le niveau Squelch, appuyez sur la touche MONI et maintenez-la enfoncée, puis appuyez sur la touche
CHUSQL UP ou DOWN jusqu'à ce qu'on entende plus le bruit de fond. Le niveau Squelch s'affiche
à
I'écran de 00
à
08.
Programmation du Canal d'Appel

Appuyez sur la touche CALL. La mention 'CALL' apparait

clignoter. Relâchez alors toutes les touches.

Appuyez sur les touches UP ou DOWN pour atteindre le canal d'appel désiré.
4 Appuyez sur la touche MONI et maintenez-la enfoncée puis appuyez sur la touche CALL pour mémoriser
le canal d'appel.

Réinitialisation de la Radio
Si votre Radio ne fonctionne plus correctement, vous pouvez la faire revenir
à
ses réglages par défaut en
effectuant un RESET. Mettez votre radio en marche tout en appuyant sur la touche MEMOIM.PRG ou
LlGHTlLOCK et en la maintenant enfoncée
;
Le canal en cours pour la bande INT est maintenant CH1, le canal
d'appel est INT CH09, le niveau Sqelch est 02, etc.
Installer et charger I'accumulateur
Avant d'installer I'accurnulateur, retirez l'attache ceinture, puis placez correctement I'accumulateur sur I'Unité et
fixez-la
à
l'aide de la vis fournie.
La conception de I'accurnulateur vous permet de la charger lorsqu'elle est installée sur la radio ou de manière
indépendante. Utilisez le chargeur spécifique pour charger la batterie pendant 14
à
15 heures (batterie Ni-MH 12V).
Pour la charger, branchez le câble du chargeur dans une prise standard 220V. et l'autre extrémité dans le
chargeur
;
Placez ensuite fermement I'accurnulateur (montée sur la radio ou non) sur le socle du chargeur
;
I'accumulateur est maintenant en charge, ce qui est confirmé par la diode indicatrice de charge qui s'allume.
Attaching and Charging Your Battery Pack
Before attaching the pack, you should detach the belt clip first, then aligningly place the pack on
the unit and secure it using the supplied screw.
The design of the battery pack let you can charge it either when it is attached on the radio or being
detached. You should use the supplied specialized desktop charger to charge it (either 7.2V or
12V Ni-MH battery pack) for 14-15hrs. To charge. plug the charger cable into a standard wall
socket and the other terminal to the charger cradle, place the radiolbattery pack mounting on the
charger pedestal firmly to start the charging, accompanied by lighting of the charging indicator
LED.
Note: The charging can not stop itself without prevention, even when the battery pack has been fully
charged. Do not forget to take the radioibattery pack out of the charger cradle when
it
has been fully
charged. Overcharging batteries rnay result in darnage to both the battery pack and radio.
Using the Belt Clip
The supplied belt clip lets you easily attach the transceiver to your belt. To attach the belt clip, put
it ont0 the back of your transceiver aligning the fitting groove and use a standard PHlLlP screw
driver to secure.
Note :la recharge de I'accumulateur ne peut s'arréter toute seule, méme lorsque I'accumulateur est complètement
chargee. Pensez donc

retirer I'accumulateur du socle du chargeur lorsqu'elle est pleine. Une charge trop longue

Utilisation de I'attache ceinture
Selecting HighlLow Power
In order to extend the battery life. you can also press HI/LO/BAND key while holding MONl button
to select the low power for your transceiver. If you want to send or hear long distance or weaker
signals, press the key combination again to select the high power. High power is 5.0 watts. and
low power is 1.0 watt. When the unit is operating at low power. "LOU appears on LCD and
disappears when operating at high power.
Selecting a Band
Two bands are available on the TM-882
-
USA and International. The USA band are frequencies
for use in US boundaries. The International band are frequencies for use outside US boundaries.
To switch between bands, press the HI/LO/BAND key until the desired band is reached. The band
in use is indicated on the LCD by USA or INT.
Selecting a Channel
Select the appropriate band
-
USA or International. Once the band is selected, press the
CHLISQL (UPIDOWN) button to scroll through the available channels.
Note: Not al1 channel numbers are available in al1 bands.
Transmitting and Receiving
The PTT (Push-To-Talk) button is located on the side of the TM-882. Before transmitting, make
sure the channel is not a "receive-only" channel. To transmit a message. press and hold the PTT
button. Talk clearly into the speakerlmicrophone area of the radio. When finished, release the PTT
button. During a transmission, "TX appears on the LCD. To receive a call. just release the PTT
button.
Adjusting Squelch
Squelch is used to eliminate static and background noise and allows for silent operation of the
TM-882 until a transmission is received. If the squelch is too high, only the strongest transmissions
can be heard, and when too low, intermittent static and noise are heard.
To adjust the squelch, press and hold the MON1 button then press either the UP or DOWN for
CHUSQL key until the background noise is quiet. The LCD displays the squelch setting from 00 to
08.
Prograrnrning the Call Channel
1.
Press the CALL button. "CALL" appears on the LCD.
2.
Press and hold the MONl button then press the CALL button. The display will flash. Release
al1 buttons.
3.
Press UP or DOWN key to get the desired cal1 channel
4.
Press and hold the MONl button then press the CALL button to store the Call Channel.
Note: The default value for
CALL
channel is
09.
Resetting the Radio
Provided that your radio can not work properly any longer, you can make it return to the original
status by resetting. Turn on your radio while pressing and holding down MEMO/M.PRG or
LIGHT/LOCK key, the current channel for USA and INT are al1 CHI, the CALL channel is USA
CH09, squelch level is 02. the default band is INT band, etc.

Caractéristiques du Balayage
Scanner tous le canaux
Le RT-250 scanne tous le canaux en mode prioritaire.
Sous Mode de Scan Prioritaire, la radio scanne rapidement tous les canaux de la bande Internationale. Le scan
s'arrëte sur les canaux occupés et y reste quelques secondes après l'arrêt du signal pour vous laisser le temps de
répondre si nécessaire. L'activité du canal 16 est surveillée en permanence, ce qui permet de répondre plus
rapidement
à
un appel lancé sur ce canal.
Effacer un canal du scan
Pour effacer un canal du scan, sélectionnez le canal
à
effacer. Appuyez ensuite sur les touches MONI et
SCANIDUAL en rnëme temps. L'indication 'L' s'affiche sur I'écran, indiquant que le canal est exclu du scan. Cette
fonction est utile pour sauter des canaux qui sont toujours occupés. Pour activer un Canal exclu du scan,
sélectionnez ce canal puis appuyez simultanément sur les touches MONI et SCANIDUAL.
Scan de Double et Triple veille
Deux options sont disponibles pour scanner les canaux sélectionnés
:
la Double veille ou la triple veille
En mode scan Double veille, la radio oscille entre le canal 16 et le canal en cours d'utilisation. En mode scan Triple
veille, la radio oscille entre le canal 16, le canal d'appel (CALL), et le canal en cours d'utilisation.
Programmation du scan de Double ou Triple veille

Utilisation de la Mémoire de Canaux
Votre radio dispose de 10 emplacements de mémoire (de 00

09), pour accéder rapidement aux canaux les plus
utilisés.
Pour accéder
à
la Mémoire de Canaux, appuyez sur la touche MEMOIM.PRG. Le numéro du canal s'affiche alors
sur la gauche de l'écran. et I'emplacement du canal dans la mémoire s'affiche en chiffres plus petits sur la droite.
Tournez la molette CHUSQL pour sélectionner un canal de mémoire. Pour quitter le mode Mémoire de Canaux.
appuyez de nouveau sur la touche MEMOIM.PRG.
Programmation de la Mémoire de Canaux
Pour faire entrer un Canal en Mémoire, procédez comme suit

Pour scanner la Mémoire de Canaux. appuyez sur la touche MEMOIM.PRG. puis appuyez sur la touche
SCANIDUAL et maintenez-la enfoncée pendant quelques secondes. La mention 'SCAN' apparaît
à
l'écran pendant
que la radio scanne la Mémoire de Canaux, en s'arr&tant sur les canaux actifs. Appuyez de nouveau sur la touche

C. BASIC OPERATION
Before operating your transceiver, you should make the following preparations. You should install
the battery pack on to the main unit and fully charge your 7.2112VDC Ni-MH battery pack or charge
it separately before its being attached onto the radio, then you can use it after making sure to
attach the antenna on your radio.
Turning OnlOff Your Transceiver
Rotate VOLUME knob to turn the transceiver on or off with an indicating voice of click. And adjust
the volume to a cornfortable level.
lllurninating the Display
When your radio is on. push LOCWLIGHT key once to illuminate the display for

seconds. Once
more press will turn off the backlight.
Monitor
The monitor function allows faint signals on a channel to be heard. To activate the monitor function,
press and hold the MON1 button to hear al1 traffic on the current channel. Release the MON1
button when finish listening.
Using Key Lock
You can lock your radio keypad to avoid accidental pressing of keys by activating the key lock.
Pressing and holding MON1 button then press the LOCWLIGHT key can enable or disable the key
lock.
Key lock icon will appear on LCD if it is enabled. The function is effective to al1 other
knobslkeys except MONI,
PTT,

"TRI": appears when the radio is in Triple Watch mode.
"SCAN": appears when the radio is in Scan mode.
"L
which means lockout appears to indicate the current channel you select is
overridden from scan.
"MEMO"
shows your radio being in memory function mode.
Small 2-bit digits show the memory channel location number or "SL" for squelch.
Battery icon: shows the battery is low.
Key lock icon: appears when key lock function is enabled.
"INT" shows the current channel is International channel.
The current selected channel number or squelch level.
"USA"
shows the current channel is
US
channel.
"LO shows the radio in low power mode.
"TX appears if your radio is transmitting.
"CALL" shows that you are using CALL channel.
When a signal is being received, your radio will have a "BUSY appear on LCD.
"DUAL" indicates your radio is in Dual Watch mode.

INTRODUCTION
Your marine transceiver TM-882 represents the state-of-the-art in high-tech engineering. Designed
for US and international operation. This allows you to transmit and receive on al1 US and
international channels in the VHF marine band, as assigned by the international Union (ITU). This
unit is a quality piece of electronic equipment. skillfully constructed with the finest components. It
is approved with commercial-grade standards to give you clear, reliable communication.
Your transceiver is designed for many years of reliable, trouble-free performance. It is under
control of a microprocessor resulting in enhanced features and performance. The microprocessor
controls not only the marine band tuning but also dual watch, memory channels, and a host of
other useful features.
