Starting the Engine

3. Release the key as soon as the engine runs. The starting key must spring back to position ‘I’
and remain there during engine operation. The battery charge light and oil pressure warning
light must go out immediately after starting. Indicator light ‘1’ lights up to show that the engine
is running.

5. Always turn the start key back to position ‘0’ before re-starting the engine. The repeat lock prevents the starter motor from
engaging and possibly being damaged whilst the engine is still running.
Never operate the electric starter when the engine is running or coasting to a standstill. There is a risk of
broken starter pinion or ring gear teeth. Never stop the engine by moving the decopression lever.
During breaks in work or at the end of theworking period, keep the starting handle and starting key in a
safe place, out of reach of unauthorised persons.
