Important Safety Information
READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The following checks shall be applied to installations
using fl ammable refrigerants:
The charge size is in accordance with the room
size within which the refrigerant containing
parts are installed.
The ventilation machinery and outlets are
operating adequately and are not obstructed.
If an indirect refrigerating circuit is being used,
the secondary circuit shall be checked for the
presence of refrigerant.
Marking to the equipment continues to be visible
and legible. Markings and signs that become
illegible must be corrected.
Refrigeration pipe or components are installed in
a position where they are unlikely to be exposed
to any substance which may corrode refrigerant
containing components, unless the components
are constructed of materials which are inherently
resistant to being corroded or are suitable
protected against being corroded.
9. Checks to electrical devices: Repair and
maintenance to electrical components shall
include initial safety checks and component
inspection procedures. If a fault exists that
could compromise safety, then no electrical
supply shall be connected to the circuit until it
is satisfactorily dealt with. If the fault cannot
be corrected immediately but it is necessary to
continue operation, an adequate temporary
solution shall be used. This shall be reported to
the owner of the equipment so all parties are
advised.
Initial safety checks shall include:
That capacitors are discharged. This shall be
done in a safe manner to avoid possibility of
sparking.
That no live electrical components and wiring
are exposed while charging, recovering or
purging the system.
That there is continuity of earth bonding.
Repairs to sealed components
1. During repairs to sealed components, all
electrical supplies shall be disconnected from
the equipment being worked upon prior to any
removal of sealed covers, etc. If it is absolutely
necessary to have an electrical supply to
equipment during servicing then a permanently
operating form of leak detection shall be located
at the most critical point to warn of a potentially
hazardous situation.
2. To ensure that by working on electrical
components the casing is not altered in such
a way that the level of protection is affected,
particular attention shall be paid to the
following:
Damage to cables, excessive number of
connections, terminals not made to original
specifi cation, damage to seals, incorrect fi tting
of glands, etc.
Ensure the apparatus is mounted securely.
Ensure that seals or sealing materials have
not degraded such that they no longer serve
the purpose of preventing the ingress of
ammable atmospheres. Replacement parts
shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s
specifi cations.
Note: The use of silicon sealant may inhibit the
effectiveness of some types of leak detection
equipment. Intrinsically safe components do not
have to be isolated prior to working on them.
Repair to intrinsically safe components
Do not apply any permanent inductive or
capacitance loads to the circuit without ensuring
that this will not exceed the permissible voltage
and current permitted for the equipment in use.
Intrinsically safe components are the only types that
can be worked on while live in the presence of a
ammable atmosphere. The test apparatus shall
be at the correct rating. Replace components only
with parts specifi ed by the manufacturer. Other
parts may result in the ignition of refrigerant in the
atmosphere from a leak.

READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Removal and evacuation
When breaking into the refrigerant circuit to make
repairs or for any other purpose conventional
procedures shall be used. However, it is important
that the best practice is followed since fl ammability
is a consideration. The following procedures shall
be adhered to:
• Remove refrigerant.
Purge the circuit with inert gas.
• Evacuate.
Purge again with inert gas.
Open the circuit by cutting or brazing.
The refrigerant charge shall be recovered into
the correct recovery cylinders. The system shall
be fl ushed with OFN to render the unit safe. This
process may need to be repeated several times.
Compressed air or oxygen shall not be used for
this task.
Flushing shall be achieved by breaking the
vacuum in the system with OFN and continuing
to fi ll until the working pressure is achieved, then
venting to atmosphere and fi nally pulling down
to a vacuum. This process shall be repeated until
no refrigerant is within the system. When the
nal OFN charge is used, the system shall be
vented down to atmospheric pressure to enable
work to take place. This operation is absolutely
vital is brazing operations on the pipe-work are
to take place.
Ensure that the outlet for the vacuum pump is
not close to any ignition sources and there is
ventilation available.
Charging procedures
In addition to conventional charging procedures, the
following requirements shall be followed:
Ensure that contamination of different
refrigerants does not occur when using charging
equipment. Hoses or lines shall be as short as
possible to minimize the amount of refrigerant
contained in them.
Cylinders shall be kept upright.
Ensure that the refrigeration system is earthed
prior to charging the system with refrigerant.
Label the system when charging is complete, if
not already labeled.
Extreme care shall be taken not to overfi ll the
refrigeration system.
Prior to recharging the system it shall be
pressure tested with OFN. The system shall be
leak tested on completion of charging but prior
to commissioning. A follow up leak test shall be
carried out prior to leaving the site.
Cabling
Check that cabling will not be subject to wear,
corrosion, excessive pressure, vibration, sharp
edges or any other adverse environmental effects.
The check shall also take into account the effects of
aging or continual vibration from sources such as
compressors or fans.
Detection of fl ammable refrigerants
Under no circumstances shall potential sources of
ignition be used in the searching for or detection
of refrigerant leaks. A halide torch or any other
detector using a naked fl ame shall not be used.
Leak detection methods
The following leak detection methods are deemed
acceptable for systems containing fl ammable
refrigerants:
Electronic leak detectors shall be used to detect
ammable refrigerants but the sensitivity may
not be adequate or may need recalibration.
Detection equipment shall be calibrated in a
refrigerant-free area. Ensure that the detector is
not a potential source of ignition and is suitable
for the refrigerant used.
Leak detection equipment shall be set at a
percentage of the LFL of the refrigerant and
shall be calibrated to the refrigerant employed
and the appropriate percentage of gas (25%
maximum) is confi rmed.
Leak detection fl uids are suitable for use with
most refrigerants but the use of detergents
containing chlorine shall be avoided as the
chlorine may react with the refrigerant and
corrode the copper or pipe-work.
If a leak is suspected, all naked fl ames shall be
removed or extinguished.
If a leakage of refrigerant is found which
requires brazing, all of the refrigerant shall be
recovered from the system or isolated by means
of shut off valves in a part of the system remote
from the leak. Oxygen free nitrogen (OFN) shall
then be purged through the system both before
and during the brazing process.

Decommissioning
Before carrying out this procedure, it is essential
that the technician is completely familiar with the
equipment in all its detail. It is recommended good
practice that all refrigerants are recovered safely.
Prior to the task being carried out, an oil and
refrigerant sample shall be taken in case analysis is
required prior to re-use of reclaimed refrigerant. It
is essential that electrical power is available before
the task is commenced.
A. Become familiar with the equipment and its
operation.
B. Isolate system electrically.
C. Before attempting the procedure ensure that:
Mechanical handling equipment is available
if required for handling refrigerant cylinders.
All personal protective equipment is
available and being used correctly.
The recovery process is supervised at all
times by a competent person.
Recovery equipment and cylinders conform
to the appropriate standards.
D. Pump down refrigerant system, if possible.
E. If a vacuum is not possible, make a manifold so
that refrigerant can be removed from various
parts of the system.
F. Make sure that cylinder is situated on the scales
before recovery takes place.
G. Start the recovery machine and operate in
accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
H. Do not overfi ll cylinders. No more than 80%
volume liquid charge.
I. Do not exceed the maximum working pressure
of the cylinder, even temporarily.
J. When the cylinders have been fi lled correctly
and the process is completed, make sure that the
cylinders and the equipment are removed from
the site promptly and all isolation valves on the
equipment are closed off.
K. Recovered refrigerant shall not be charged into
another refrigeration system unless it has been
cleaned and checked.
Labeling
Equipment shall be labeled stating that it has been
decommissioned and emptied of refrigerant. The
label shall be dated and signed. Ensure that there
are labels on the equipment stating the equipment
contains fl ammable refrigerant.
Recovery
When removing refrigerant from a system, either for
servicing or decommissioning, it is recommended
good practice that all refrigerants are removed
safely.
When transferring refrigerant into cylinders, ensure
that only appropriate refrigerant recovers cylinders
are employed. Ensure that the correct number of
cylinders for holding the total system charge are
available. All cylinders to be used are designed
for the recovered refrigerant and labeled for that
refrigerant, i.e. special cylinders for the recovery
of refrigerant. Cylinders shall be complete with
pressure relief valve and associated shut-off valves
in good working order. Empty recovery cylinders
are evacuated and, if possible, cooled before
recovery occurs.
The recovery equipment shall be in good working
order with a set of instructions concerning the
equipment that is at hand and shall be suitable for
the recovery of fl ammable refrigerants. In addition,
a set of calibrated weighing scales shall be
available and in good working order. Hoses shall
be complete with leak-free disconnect couplings
and in good condition. Before using the recovery
machine, check that is it in satisfactory working
order, has been properly maintained and that any
associated electrical components are sealed to
prevent ignition in the event of a refrigerant leak.
Consult the manufacturer if in doubt.
The recovered refrigerant shall be returned to the
refrigerant supplier in the correct recovery cylinder
and the relevant waste transfer note shall be
arranged. Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units
and especially not in cylinders. If compressors or
compressor oils are to be removed, ensure that they
have been evacuated to an acceptable level to make
certain that fl ammable refrigerant does not remain
within the lubricant. The evacuation process shall be
carried out prior to returning the compressor to the
suppliers. Only electric heating to the compressor
body shall be employed to accelerate this process.
When oil is drained form a system, it shall be
carried out safely.

WATER DRAINAGE
When the internal drain pan becomes full the appliance will beep
8 times and the digital display will show error code P1. The air
conditioning or dehumidifying action will stop but the fan may
continue to operate.
There are two methods to drain water from the appliance.
1. Drain Plug
1. Turn the appliance off and unplug it from the power source.
2. Carefully move the appliance to a location where the water
can be drained.
3. Remove the drain plug and allow the water to completely
drain.
4. Replace the bottom drain plug, pressing fi rmly to ensure a
tight fi t and no leaks.
5. The P1 error symbol will disappear and the appliance will
resume regular function once power is restored.
2. Continuous Drain
During the Dry mode, you may wish to set up the continuous
drain option so that the appliance will automatically drain
collected water.
Remove the exhaust hose during Dry mode, it is not necessary.
Ensure that the appliance is turned off and unplugged from the
power source before setting up the drain hose.
Remove the upper drain plug and attach the drain hose that was
provided with the appliance. Ensure that there are no kinks or
bends in the drain hose as this can stop water from draining.
Place the open end of the drain hose over the receptacle that the
appliance will drain into; this could be a basement fl oor drain, a
sink or similar.
Remember that there is no drain pump in this appliance, the
continuous drain is activated by gravity only. Ensure that the
drain hose goes straight down toward the fl oor from the drain
connection. If the hose is not positioned directly downwards,
water will not drain correctly.
