PRESENTATION
The C.A 5210 G and C.A 5220 G are designed for the daily needs of professionals
in electricity.
They have a dual display :
- digital 4000 counts
- 40 segment bargraph
The range selection is automatic, with the possibility of manual selection on the
C.A 5220 G. It switches Off automatically if no control or function button is pressed
for 30 minutes.
For the safety of the user, these multimeters meet the most demanding
international standards; firstly : double insulation (in accordance with
IEC 1010-1-III-2).
Model C.A 5220 G, which is more complete, in particular allows the direct
measurement of current and frequency measurement (see Description chapter).
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Never use on DC or AC networks higher than 600V rms.
Never open the case of the multimeter before having disconnected it from all
electric sources.
Never connect to the circuit to be measured if the case of the instrument is not
correctly closed.
Before any measurement, check the correct position of the leads and of the
selector switch.
Never make resistance measurements on a live circuit.
For the C.A 5220 G multimeter, when making current measurements, always
switch Off the power supply to the circuit before connecting or disconnecting
the instrument to the circuit.

REPLACING THE BATTERIES
AND THE FUSES
The 1.5V batteries, as well as the 0.4 A HBC and 12 A HBC fuses for model
C.A 5220 G, are accessible at the back of the instrument.
Remove the lower half of the case after removing the three screws.
Replace the faulty elements, in accordance with :
- polarity for the batteries
-the value and the type of fuses
Fuse 0.4 A HBC - 600V min (6.3 x 32 mm)
Fuse 12 A HBC - 600V min (10.3 x 38 mm)

DIODES
Never make a diode test on a live circuit
Connect the leads to the multimeter and to the terminals of the component
to be tested.
Place the selector switch on the diode function :
-in forward direction the display gives the value of the junction in volts
(resolution 1mV)
- accuracy : ± 2 % R ± 15 mV
- open circuit voltage : 3 V
-short circuit current : 0.8mA
- in reverse direction the display indicates the open circuit voltage,
around 3V.
Memorise the value if necessary, by pressing the HOLD button.
With this function it is thus possible to test standard diodes, l.e.d’s or any other
semiconductor which has a junction that corresponds to a direct voltage of
less than 3V.
Protection : idem resistances

HIGH CURRENT MEASUREMENTS
Miniclamps and current clamps, series C, D and Y, simplify the measurement
of AC currents.
Measurements are made rapidly and in complete safety, without the need to
switch Off the circuit.
According to the clamp used and the ranges concerned, you may measure
100A, 500A, 1000A and up to 3000A AC.
There are two types of clamps, with current output and with voltage output.
-Example of current output :
Output signal : 1mA AC/1 A AC
Use the mA AC ranges
For a current of 100A AC, reading 100mA AC
- Example of voltage output :
Output signal : 1mV AC/1 A AC
Use the mV AC ranges (C.A 5220 G only)
For a current of 100 A AC, reading 100mV AC
Hall effect clamps, series E and PAC, have the
same advantages but measure both DC and AC
currents
- output signal : 1mV DC/1 A DC and 1mV AC/1 A AC
MEASUREMENT OF HIGH DC VOLTAGES
The HT probe enables the measurement of high voltages up to 30kV DC and
20 kV AC
- output signal : 1V DC/1kV DC or 1V AC/1kV AC
LIGHTING MEASUREMENTS
The 651 A cell transforms your multimeter into a luxmeter; measurements up to
12000 lux (with 1/10 screen)
- output signal : 1mV DC/10 lux
TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS
The ST2 probe transforms your multimeter into a thermometer; it can be used in
many applications with 8 specialised sensors (type K); measurements up to
1000°C according to the sensor chosen.
- output signal : 1mV DC/1°C
MEASUREMENTS OF ROTATIONAL SPEED
The TACHY 6 probe transforms your multimeter into a tachometer; measurements
up to 6000 and 60000 rpm
- output signal : 1mV DC/1 rpm
1mV DC/10 rpm
