Quick Installation Guide

The MPUIQ-VMCHS module is
designed to drastically reduce
cable bulk. Use your MPUIQ-
VMCHS module to convert
keyboard, monitor and mouse
signals from a server through a
single user-supplied CAT5 cable
(4-pair, up to 150 ft/45 m) to your
switch.
The MPUIQ-VMCHS module draws
its power from the server and has
Keep Alive functionality that will
keep your server working properly
with or without connectivity to the
Avocent® MergePoint Unity™
switch.
Troubleshooting tip
Make sure your server is turned
on before operating your Merge-
Point Unity™ switching system.
If a server is unavailable through
the MergePoint Unity™ local port
user interface, then double-check
your module connection or test
another MPUIQ-VMCHS module in
its place.
1. Connecting the MPUIQ-
VMCHS module to your
unit
Choose an available port on the
rear of your switch. Plug one
end of a user-supplied CAT5
cable into a numbered port and
the other end into the RJ45
connector of the MPUIQ-
VMCHS module.
2. Connecting a server to
the MPUIQ-VMCHS
module
Plug the MPUIQ-VMCHS
module, VGA monitor and USB
connectors into the appropriate
server ports. Repeat this step
for all servers that are to be
connected to the MergePoint
Unity switch.
3. Turning on your system
Turn on your servers and
MergePoint Unity switch.
Ensure that your switch is
properly configured and begin
operation of your system.
