ENGLISH
Hydraulic pumps manufactured by Cembre S.p.A. are developed for use with hydraulic
heads. According to this specific use, they do not need and are not equipped with an oil
non-return safety system.
For this reason, use in applications different from those intended (for example with hy-
draulic jacks, lifting systems or similar) can be dangerous for the operator.
Cembre S.p.A. does not accept any liability arising from the use of its hydraulics pumps
for applications different from those listed in its catalogues or other documentation.
Do not use the pump for purposes other than those intended by Cembre S.p.A..
The operator should concentrate on the work being performed and be careful to maintain
a balanced working position.
Avoid dirty surfaces: dust and sand are a danger to any Electro-hydraulic equipment.
The flexible hydraulic hose supplied should always be used to connect the hydraulic head
to the pump. The hydraulic head should never be directly connected to the pump.
Never connect to a pump hydraulic heads that still contain oil, namely with the ram not
fully retracted; excess oil could cause the pump to malfunction.
Before disconnecting the flexible hose, check that the ram of the head is completely retracted,
in order to ensure that a sufficient quantity of oil is available for subsequent operations.
High pressure flexible hoses are subject to a natural ageing process which can result in
a reduction in performance potentially affecting safety of the operator. As a result their
life span is limited.
In order to ensure safe use of their units, Cembre recommends replacing the hose within
10 years from the date printed on the fittings.
Keep the pump and flexible hose away from naked flames and sources of heat above 70°C.
Before using the pump, check that the flexible hose and couplings are not damaged.
The factory fitted guards must be in place at each end of the flexible hose.
Do not touch the flexible hose when under pressure.
When using the pump, the flexible hose must be uncoiled and laid out straight.
The pump is unsuitable for continuous use and should be allowed to cool down follow-
ing uninterrupted, successive crimping operations; for instance, having exhausted a fully
charged battery in one session, delay battery replacement for a few minutes.
WARNING
7
Safety instructions for batteries:

The electronics protect the battery from any damage caused by complete depletion.
A completely charged battery provides 100% of its
energy between -20 and + 50 °C (- 4 and +122 °F).
Continuous overload causes deactivation due to overheating. In such a case, allow the battery
to cool down; if the battery feels hot to the touch, it can be cooled down more quickly by inser-
ting it into the relevant AIR COOLED” battery charger.
Optimal battery storage temperature is between 10 and 30 °C(50 and 86 °F).

3. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
3.1) Preparation
The pump can be easily carried using either the main handle (10) or the shoulder strap attached
to the two rings (1) (Ref. to Fig. 2).
Position the pump on a fl at surface. There are two stable work positions recommended (see Fig. 6):
- vertical, resting on its base.
- horizontal, resting on its back where moulded ribs improve fi rmness and stability
Should it be necessary however, the pump’s hermetically sealed hydraulic circuit allows it to
operate in any position.
Before starting any work, check the battery charge and recharge it if necessary following
the instructions in the battery charger user manual.
3.2) Connecting the remote hand controller (Ref. to Fig. 4)
Remove "REMOTE CONTROLLER" protective cap, connect the remote hand controller to the
socket (10) (see Fig. 4): tighten the plug (16) by turning the bezel clockwise until it locks.
3.3) Connecting the fl exible hose (Ref. to Fig. 5)
Fully unravel the flexible hose.
Connect the male coupler (20) of the flexible hose to the female coupler (9) of the pump then
pull towards the hose and turn the safety ring (G) to eliminate any risk of accidental disconnec-
tion.
Connect the female coupler (21) of the flexible hose to the male coupler (22) of the hydraulic
head to be used then pull towards the hose and turn the safety ring (G) to eliminate any

3.4) Operation
Activate the pump by pushing the green button on the control handle or the button on the
pump (if enabled), the display (3) and the Cembre logo (8) turn-on.
Through the display, the operator can view and change some of the pumps setting using the
touch button (4) (Ref. to § 4). The display shows the operating mode and oil release settings of
the pump at each start-up (starting with the display switched off ) or upon insertion of the bat-
tery.
Examples:
IMPORTANT: Prior to using the pump, always check the operating mode set is the correct
one for the type of job to be carried out, choosing between:
CRIMPING – CUTTING – PUNCHING (Ref. to § 4.2).
The factory settings are:
- operating mode: CRIMPING (Ref. to § 4.2 to choose another operating mode).
- oil release type: SMART (Ref. to § 4.3 for further details).

Proceed with the job by operating as follows:
CRIMPING OPERATION
Press the start button: this activates the motor of the pump that feeds the
hydraulic head connected to it, pressurising the oil.
Once the minimum set pressure (P
n
) is reached the pump will be switched
off automatically, the display will briefl y show the maximum pressure reached
(P
p
) followed by “OK” and the Cembre logo will light up GREEN to confi rm the
correct operation.
Releasing the start button before the automatic stopping of the motor will
cause the pump to stop, keeping the oil pressure stable (P
p
) at the value
reached at that moment. To complete the operation press the start button
once more until the motor stops automatically.
The display "ERROR" combined with a beep and and the RED fl ashing
of the Cembre logo, indicates an incorrect crimping procedure; the oil
return phase occurred too early without waiting for the motor to be automati-
cally switched off and therefore the minimum set pressure was not reached. This
error appears when the pressure release button has been operated and the
pump has already reached a pressure > 100 bar. Repeat the crimping cycle by
holding down the start button until the motor is automatically switched off .

MAINTENANCE
No. of cycles to maintenance reached; the pump continues to
work however, it is recommended that it is sent to Cembre for
a complete overhaul (Ref. to § 7).
This screen is associated with the orange color of the logo.
5. MAINTENANCE
The pump is robust, completely sealed, and requires very little daily maintenance. Compliance
with the following points, should help to maintain its optimum performance:
High pressure flexible hoses are subject to a natural ageing process which can result
in a reduction in performance potentially affecting safety of the operator. As a result
their life span is limited.
In order to ensure safe use of their units, Cembre recommends replacing the hose within 10
years from the date printed on the fittings.
5.1) Thorough cleaning
Dust, sand and dirt are a danger for any hydraulic device.
Every day, after use, the pump and accessoires must be wiped with a clean cloth taking care to
remove any residue. Do not use Hydrocarbons to clean the rubber parts.
After use, protect the couplers of the pump, hose and hydraulic head with their protective
caps to prevent contamination.

5.2) Rucksack
To protect the pump from accidental damage and dust, it should be stored with its accessories in
the special rucksack provided and sealed well.
Rucksack type CVB-037: Size 540x270xh550 mm (21.2x10.6x21.6 inches), weight 3,2 kg (7 lbs).
5.3) Storage
Once the job has been completed always completely release the pressure of the oil by holding
down the release button; ensure that the ram of the connected hydraulic head is completely
retracted before disconnecting the head.
Remove the battery from the pump.
Disconnect the remote controller.
Disconnect the fl exible hose; avoid it becoming folded with narrow bends or knots that may
compromise its integrity.
Store the pump and accessories in the rucksack in a dry place.
5.4) Topping up the oil (Ref. to Fig. 7)
Periodically check, at least every 6 months, the oil level in the pump and top up if necessary:
Position the pump on its base on a fl at surface.
Completely discharge the oil pressure by pushing the pressure release button (7).
Unscrew the fi ller cap (2).
By using a funnel, top up very slowly to completely fi ll the oil reservoir to the maximum level.
When the operation is fi nished replace the cap (2).
Always use clean recommended oil, see § 1.
Do not use old or recycled oil. Do not use hydraulic brake fl uid.
Ensure that used oil is disposed of in accordance with current legislation.
6. CONNECTION TO COMPUTER (Smartool technology)
Extract the battery and connect the supplied USB cable to the connector (30) inside the battery
seat then to the USB port of the PC (Ref. to Fig. 9).
The memory card integrated in the tool records operating data for transfer via the USB cable supplied.
To view and manage this data, go to www.cembre.com and register in the dedicated area, then
download the free Cembre software CEM_SWBT01.
Keeping the Firmware of the tool updated, via free of charge download from here, will optimise
the tool's performance.
