PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE

MICROWAVE ENERGY

The oven cannot be operated with the door open due to the safety interlocks built in the door

mechanism which switch off cooking functions when the door is opened. Operating the oven

with the door open could result in harmful exposure to microwave energy. It is important not

to tamper with the door mechanism.

Do not place any object between the oven front face and the door or allow soil or cleaner

residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces.

Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important that the oven door closes

properly and that there is no damage to the (1) door (bent), (2) hinges and latches (broken

or loosened), (3) door seals and sealing surfaces.

The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except qualified personnel.

1. Most glass, glass ceramic, and heat resistant glassware utensils are excellent. Those with

metal trim should not be used in a microwave oven.

2. Paper napkins, towels, plates, cups, cartons and cardboard can be used in the microwave

oven. Do not use recycled paper products since they may contain impurities which may cause

sparks and / or fires when used in cooking. (consult a microwave cookbook for correct use

of these products).

3. Plastic dishes, cups, freezer bags, and plastic wraps may be used in the microwave oven.

Follow the manufacturers instructions or the information given in a microwave cookbook

4. Metal utensils and utensils with metallic trim should not be used in the microwave oven.

If the use of aluminium foil, skewers, or utensils containing metal in the oven is specified in

the recipe, allow at least 2.5 cm clearance between the metal object and the interior oven

wall. If arcing (sparks) occurs, remove immediately.

For Best Results:

1. When determining the time for a particular food, begin by using minimum time and checking

condition occasionally. It is easy to overcook food because microwaves cook very quickly.

2. Small quantities of food, or foods with low water content may dry out and become hard if

cooked too long.

Defrosting Frozen Food:

1. Foods that have been frozen can be place directly in the oven for thawing. (Be certain to

remove any metallic ties or wraps).

2. Defrost according to the Defrosting Tips found in this manual.

3. For areas of the food thawing faster than others, cover with small pieces of aluminium foil.

This helps slow down or stop the defrosting process.

4. Some foods should not be completely thawed before cooking. For example, fish cooks so

quickly that it is sometimes better to begin cooking while still slightly frozen.

5. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the cooking time in some recipes, depending

on the starting temperature of the food.

NOTE:

Air from the vent may become warm during cooking.

Browning:

There are a few foods which are not cooked long enough in the microwave oven to brown

and may need additional colour.

Coatings such as paprika, and browning agents such as Worcestershire sauce may be used

on chops, meat patties or chicken pieces.

Roasts, poultry or ham, cooked for 10-15 minutes or longer, will brown without extra additives.

CLEANING AND CARE

Disconnect the electrical supply to the oven before cleaning

Interior walls

Remove any crumbs and food remains between the door and oven using a damp cloth. This

area has to be particularly well cleaned to ensure the door will close properly. Remove any

grease splashes with a soapy cloth then rinse and dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners which

may damage the surface of the oven.

The roller rest should be removed and cleaned in hot soapy water at least once a week to

prevent grease restricting the rotation of the wheels.

Door

The door and door seals should be kept clean at all times. Use only warm soapy water rinse

then dry thoroughly.

DO NOT USEABRASIVE MATERIALS, SUCHAS CLEANING POWDERS OR STEELAND

PLASTIC PADS.

Metal parts will be easier to maintain if wiped frequently with a damp cloth.

Clean with mild soap and warm water, rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive

materials. Do not spill water in the vents. If the power lead becomes soiled wipe it with a

damp cloth.

SETTING UP YOUR OVEN

Remove the oven and all materials from the carton and oven cavity.

Remove all packing material and accessories.

Examine the oven for any damage such as

dents or broken door. Do not install if oven is

damaged.

Countertop Installation

Cabinet: Remove any protective film found

on the microwave oven cabinet surface.

Do not remove the light brown Mica cover

that is attached to the oven cavity to

protect the magnetron.

Installation

1. Select a level surface that provide

enough open space for the intake

and/or outlet vents.

A minimum clearance of 3.0 inches

(7.5cm) is required between the oven and

any adjacent walls. One side must be open.

(1) Leave a minimum clearance of 12

inches (30cm) above the oven.

(2) Do not remove the legs from the

bottom of the oven.

(3) Blocking the intake and/or outlet openings

can damage the oven.

(4) Place the oven as far away from

radios and TV as possible.

Operation of microwave oven may

Q. What is wrong when the oven light will not glow?

A. *Light bulb has blown.

* Door not closed.

Q. Why is steam coming out of the air exhaust vent and / or why is water dripping from the

bottom of the door?

A. Steam is normally produced during cooking operations. This microwave oven has been

made to vent this steam out of the side and top vents, occasionally this steam condenses

on the door and water then drips out at the bottom of the door. This is quite normal and

safe.

Q. Does microwave energy pass through the viewing screen in the door?

A. No. The metal screen reflects the energy to the oven cavity. the holes, or ports are made

to allow light to pass, they do not let microwave energy through.

Q. Will the microwave oven be damaged if it operates while empty?

A. Yes. Never run it empty.

Q. Why do eggs sometimes pop?

A. When baking or poaching eggs, the yolk may pop due to steam build-up inside the yolk

membrane. To prevent this, simply pierce the yolk with a toothpick before cooking.

Never cook eggs without piercing their shells.

Q. Why is standing time recommended after the cooking operation has been completed?

A. Standing time is very important.

With microwave cooking, the heat is in the food, not in the oven. Many foods build up

enough internal heat to allow the cooking process to continue, even after the food is

removed from the oven. Standing time for joints of meat, large vegetables and cakes is

to allow the inside to cook completely, without overcooking the outside.

Q. Why does my oven not always cook fast as the microwave cooking guide says?

A. Check your cooking guide again, to make sure you've followed directions exactly and

to see what might cause variations in cooking times. Cooking guide times and heat

settings are suggestions, to help prevent over cooking the most common problem in

getting used to a microwave oven. Variations in the size, shape and weights and

dimensions could require longer cooking time. Use your own judgement along with the

cooking guide suggestions to check whether the food has been properly cooked just as

you would do with a conventional cooker.

Q. Why do sparks and crackling (arcing) occur in the oven?

A. There may be several reasons why sparks and crackling (arcing) within the cavity happens.

* You have left a fork or other metal utensils in the oven.

* You are using dishes with metal parts or trim (silver or gold).

* You are using a large amount of metal foil.

* You are using a metal twist tie.

Before You Call For Service

Refer to the following short checklist. You may find that the problem you are experiencing

has nothing to do with the microwave oven itself. A couple of quick checks may save you an

unnecessary service call.

Problem

The oven doesn't work at all.

Check the following

The mains plug is securely plugged into the power socket.

The door is firmly closed.

The cooking time is set on the timer selector control.

The fuse in the mains plug has not blown.

The mains circuit breaker in the home has not tripped.

Problem

"Arcing" or sparking in the oven interior.

Check the following

Any dishes, trays etc which are made of metal or have metal trims must not be used in the

microwave oven.

Metal skewers should be covered with food and make sure they don't touch the sides of the

oven interior when rotating. If "arcing" occurs again, remove skewers until food is cooked.

Remove any other metal cookware for the oven.

PRECAUTIONS A PRENDRE POUR EVITER UNE EXPOSITION POSSIBLE A

L’ENERGIE EXCESSIVE DES MICRO-ONDES

Le four ne peut pas fonctionner avec la porte ouverte grâce au mécanisme de

verrouillage de sécurité intégré à la porte qui empêche les fonctions de du four lorsque la

porte est ouverte. Faire fonctionner le four avec la porte ouverte pourrait causer une

dangereuse exposition à l’énergie des micro-ondes. Il est important de ne pas forcer le

mécanisme de la porte.

Ne placez aucun objet entre la face avant du four et la porte et ne laissez aucun résidu

de saleté ou de nettoyant s’accumulant sur les surfaces scellées.

N’utilisez pas le four s’il est endommagé. Il est particulièrement important que la porte du

four ferme correctement et qu’il n’y ait aucun dommage sur la porte (1), sur les

charnières et sur les loquets (2) et sur les joints et surfaces scellées (3).

Le four ne doit pas être réglé ou réparé par quiconque sauf par un personnel qualifié.

Pour de meilleurs résultats et une cuisine plus plaisante, veuillez lire entièrement

ces commentaires.

Pour de meilleurs résultats :

1. Lorsque vous devez déterminer la durée de cuisson pour un aliment particulier,

commencez par utiliser un minimum de temps et vérifiez régulièrement la

condition. Il est facile de trop cuire les aliments car les fours à micro-ondes

cuisent très rapidement.

2. Des petites quantités d’aliments, ou des aliments contenant un faible taux

d’humidité peuvent sécher et devenir durs s’ils sont cuits trop longtemps.

Décongeler des aliments congelés :

1. Les aliments ayant été congelés peuvent être placés directement dans le four

pour les dégeler (assurez-vous d’enlever toute attache ou emballage

métallique).

2. Décongelez en suivant les conseils de décongélation donnés dans ce manuel.

3. Pour les parties de l’aliment se dégelant plus rapidement que d’autres, couvrez-

les avec des petites pièces d’aluminium. Cela aidera à ralentir ou arrêter le

processus de décongélation.

4. Certains aliments ne doivent pas être complètement décongelés avant la

cuisson. Par exemple, le poisson se cuit si vite qu’il est parfois mieux de

démarrer la cuisson alors qu’il est encore légèrement congelé.

5. Il peut être nécessaire d’augmenter ou de diminuer la durée de cuisson de

certaines recettes, selon la température de l’aliment au début.

REMARQUE :

L’air sortant des fentes d’aération peut devenir chaud durant la cuisson.

Brunissement :

Certains aliments qui ne sont pas cuits suffisamment longtemps pour brunir dans le four

à micro-ondes peuvent avoir besoin de couleur supplémentaire.

Une couche de paprika ou d’un agent de brunissement comme la sauce de Worcester

(sauce épicée au soja et au vinaigre) peut être ajoutée sur les morceaux de viande, les

steaks hachés ou les pièces de poulet.

Les rôtis, la volaille ou le porc, cuits durant 10 à 15 minutes ou plus longuement

bruniront sans additifs s’ils sont cuits en mode combiné.

NETTOYAGE ET ENTRETIEN

Déconnectez le four de la source électrique avant de procéder au nettoyage.

Les parties en métal seront plus faciles à entretenir si elles sont essuyées fréquemment

avec un chiffon humidifié.

Extérieur

Nettoyez avec un savon doux et de l’eau chaude, rincez et séchez avec un chiffon doux.

N’utilisez pas de matériaux abrasifs. Ne laissez pas d’eau s’infiltrer dans les fentes

d’aération. Si le câble d’alimentation devient sale, essuyez-le avec un chiffon humidifié.

Uniquement de l’eau chaude savonneuse doit être utilisée pour nettoyer les

surfaces en inox.

Installation du four sur un plan de travail

Enlevez tous les matériaux d’emballage et les accessoires. Examinez le four et vérifiez

qu’il ne comporte pas de dommages, comme des bosses ou la porte cassée. Ne

procédez pas à l’installation si le four est endommagé.

Intérieur du four : Enlevez tout film protecteur situé sur les surfaces intérieures du four

à micro-ondes.

N’enlevez pas la couverture de mica de couleur marron clair qui est fixée à

l’intérieur du four pour protéger le magnétron.

Installation

1.Sélectionnez une surface plate fournissant suffisamment d’espace pour les conduits

d’entrée et de sortie.

ESPACE OUVERT

Un espace minimum de 3,0 pouces (7,5 cm) est nécessaire entre le four et tout

mur adjacent. Un côté doit être ouvert.

(1) Laissez un espace minimum de 12 pouces (30 cm) au-dessus du four.

(2) N’enlevez pas les pieds situés en bas du four.

(3) Bloquer les ouvertures d’entrée et de sortie peut endommager le four.

(4) Placez le four aussi loin que possible des appareils radio et TV. Le

fonctionnement du four à micro-ondes peut causer des interférences sur la

réception de la radio ou du téléviseur.

Branchez votre four à une prise électrique domestique. Assurez-vous que la

tension et la fréquence soient les mêmes que celles indiquées sur la fiche

signalétique.

AVERTISSEMENT : N’installez pas le four au-dessus d’une plaque de cuisson ou au-

dessus de tout appareil produisant de la chaleur. S’il est installé près ou sur une source

de chaleur, le four pourrait être endommagé et annulerait la garantie.
