Use
You can use the hand blender 5 to
prepare dips, sauces, soups and baby
food or to purée soft fruits. We recom-
mend operating the hand blender 5
for a maximum of 1 minute at a time and
then allowing it to cool off.
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Do not use the hand blender 5 to process solid foods. This will cause
irreparable damage to the appliance!
You can use the smoothie maker 6/7/
8 to make smoothies. A smoothie is a
kind of "whole-fruit drink". Smoothies
contain processed whole fruits without
the peel and core. This helps create a
creamy consistency. There is no limit to
the types of smoothie you can prepare: try adding yoghurt, crushed ice, herbs
or ice cream. We recommend operating the smoothie maker for a maximum of
1 minute at a time and then allowing it to cool off.
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Never fill the appliance with hard ingredients such as nuts, stalks, large
grains or seeds!
Never fill the appliance with hot ingredients!
Assembly
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
Do not plug the appliance into the mains power socket until it is fully
assembled.
NOTE
Before first use, clean all parts as described in the section "Cleaning".

Operation
Using the hand blender
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
The food being processed must not be too hot! Splashing contents could
scald the user.
Once you have assembled the hand blender (see section "Assembly"), proceed
as follows:
1) Insert the plug into the mains power socket.
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
The base of the hand blender 5 must be completely covered with ingredients
before you switch the appliance on or off. Otherwise the contents may
splash out of the mixing bowl! Always insert the hand blender 5 into the
food you are processing before starting the appliance!
2) Hold down the button 2 to process the food at a normal speed. Turn
the speed control 1 towards "Max" to increase the speed. Turn the speed
control 1 towards "Min" to decrease the speed.
3) Hold down the turbo button 3 to process the food at a high speed. By
pressing the turbo button 3, you immediately start processing at maximum
speed.
4) Once you are done processing the food, simply release the pressed
button 2/3.
5) Pull the hand blender 5 out of the mixture once you have released the
button 2/3 and the blade has stopped turning.
NOTE
If you hear unusual noises during operation, e.g.
squeaking or similar, apply a small amount of neutral
cooking oil to the drive shaft of the hand blender 5.
10 GBIE SSSM 600 A1
Making smoothies
Preparing ingredients
Remove all peels, such as orange peel or kiwi skin, from the fruit.
Remove large pits and stones, e.g. peach stones, from the fruits.
Cut the fruit into small pieces (approx. 1–2 cm).
Chop herbs or salads into small pieces.
NOTE
If you store the ingredients in the fridge until you prepare them, the freshly
prepared smoothie will already be cold.
Filling the blender jug
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Never fill the blender jug 8 with ingredients up to more than the MAX
marking! The appliance will not be able to process the ingredients!
NOTE
For optimum results, we recommend always adding at least 100 ml of liquid
to the blender jug 8 when preparing a smoothie.
1) Prepare the ingredients.
2) Add the ingredients to the blender jug 8. Always add liquid ingredients
before more solid ingredients, such as fruit and/or crushed ice. Add light
ingredients, such as lettuce, last.
NOTE
Do not use the appliance to crush ice cubes! Only used pre-crushed ice in
the appliance.
GBIE  11
SSSM 600 A1
Operating the appliance
Once you have filled the blender jug 8 and connected the smoothie maker
7/8/9 to the motor unit 4 (see section "Assembly"), proceed as follows:
NOTE
Do not start the appliance until the blade holder 6 with the blade 7,
blender jug 8 and motor unit 4 have been correctly assembled.
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
To turn the blade holder 6, only hold the blade holder 6. Never turn
the blender jug 8 while operating the appliance! Otherwise the blender
jug 8 will detach and the ingredients will spill out!
NOTE
If you want to prepare a smoothie, turn the assembled appliance around so
that the blender jug 8 is facing upwards. This way, you can make sure that
the blade 7 constantly processes the ingredients and that the blade 7
does not run empty!
1) After filling the blender jug 8 and after assem-
bling the appliance, insert the power plug into
the mains socket.
2) Turn the appliance over so that the motor unit 4
and the speed control 1 face downwards and
the blender jug 8 is facing upwards.
Place the motor unit 4 on a stable surface.
3) Hold the blender jug 8 firmly with one hand.
4) Hold down the button 2 to blend the food
into a smoothie at normal speed. Turn the speed
control 1 towards "Max" to increase the speed.
Turn the speed control 1 towards "Min" to
decrease the speed.
5) Hold down the turbo button 3 to process the food at a high speed. By
pressing the turbo button 3, you immediately start processing at maximum
speed.
12 GBIE SSSM 600 A1
NOTE
For optimum results, we recommend always
adding at least 100 ml of liquid to the blend-
er jug 8. If you pour in less liquid, or are not
using a thin liquid, such as yoghurt, pieces of
fruit may stick. If this happens, lift the appli-
ance and shake it several times in an up and
down motion so that the pieces of fruit come
off and are caught by the blade 7. Make
sure to hold the blade holder 6 with the
blender jug 8 and motor unit 4 firmly so
that the assembled appliance does not fall
apart.
6) Once the smoothie has reached the desired consistency, you can simply
release the pressed button 2/3.
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Do not operate the appliance for longer than 1 minute in one session! The
appliance will overheat! After using the appliance for 1 minute, allow it to
cool down.
7) Once the smoothie is ready, turn the appliance back over so that the
blender jug 8 is facing downwards and the motor unit 4 upwards.
8) Remove the plug from the mains power socket.
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
To turn the blade holder 6, only hold the blade holder 6. Never turn the
blender jug 8 while operating the appliance! Otherwise the blender jug
8 will detach and the ingredients will spill out!
9) Remove the blade holder 6 together with the blender jug 8 from the
motor unit 4. To do so, turn the blade holder 6 until the arrow on the
motor unit 4 points to the symbol on the blade holder 6. You can
now remove the blade holder 6 from the motor unit 4.
10) Unscrew the blade holder 6 from the blender jug 8.
GBIE  13
SSSM 600 A1
11) Screw the lid 9 onto the blender jug 8. You can drink the smoothie
through the closable drinking opening in the lid 9.
Cleaning
WARNING! RISK OF ELECTROCUTION!
Always remove the plug from the mains power socket before cleaning the
appliance.
During cleaning, never immerse the motor unit 4 in water or hold it
under running water.
NOTE
The blender jug 8 can be washed in the dishwasher. If possible,
place the blender jug 8 in the top basket of the dishwasher. Make
sure that no parts are jammed.
CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Do not use aggressive, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents! They could
irreparably damage the surface!
NOTE
Ideally, you should clean the appliance directly after use. This makes it
easier to remove food residues.
1) Remove the plug from the mains power socket.
2) Clean the motor unit 4 with a moist cloth.
Make sure that no water gets into the openings of the motor unit 4.
For stubborn dirt, add a little mild detergent to the cloth. Wipe off any
washing-up liquid residue with a damp cloth.
3) Pull the sealing ring 0 out of the lid 9. If necessary, use a narrow,
blunt object to help you.
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
The blade is extremely sharp! Handle it with great care at all times.
4) Clean the hand blender 5, the blade holder 6 the blender jug 8, the
lid 9 and the sealing ring 0 thoroughly in washing-up water and rinse
them afterwards in fresh water to remove any detergent residues.
5) Dry everything thoroughly with a dry cloth and ensure that the appliance is
completely dry before reuse.
14 GBIE SSSM 600 A1
NOTE
If you clean the appliance directly after use, you can usually achieve sufficiently
hygienic cleaning results for the blender jug 8 and the blade holder 6 by
using the following alternatives:
Fill the blender jug 8 with about 400 ml of water and add a few drops of
mild detergent.
Fit the blender jug 6 onto the blade holder 8 and screw them firmly together.
Then screw the blade holder 6 onto the motor unit 4 (see section
"Assembly").
Press the button 2 a few times so that the blade 7 churns through the
water.
Afterwards, rinse the blender jug 8 and the blade holder 6 with plenty
of fresh water until all detergent residues are removed.
Storage
Store the cleaned appliance in a clean, dust-free and dry location.

Recipes
Hand blender
Pumpkin soup
4 people
Ingredients
1 medium-sized onion
2 garlic cloves
10–20g fresh ginger
3 tbsp. rapeseed oil
400 g pumpkin (preferably Hokkaido pumpkin as the skin softens during
cooking and does not need to be peeled)
250–300 ml coconut milk
250–500 ml vegetable stock
The juice of ½ an orange
A little dry white wine
1 tsp. sugar
Salt, pepper
Preparation
1) Peel the onion and cut it into small pieces. Do the same with the garlic.
Peel and finely chop the ginger. Sauté the onion and ginger in hot oil.
After 2 minutes, add the garlic.
2) Clean the pumpkin thoroughly in warm water using a vegetable brush, then
cut it into 2–3 cm cubes. (If you use a different variety instead of Hokkaido,
you need to peel the pumpkin). Add the pumpkin cubes to the onions and
ginger and sauté them. Add half the coconut milk and as much vegetable
stock as necessary to cover the pumpkin. Simmer with the lid on for about
20–25 minutes until the food is soft. Mix everything with the hand blender
5 until smooth. Add coconut milk as required to give the soup a smooth,
soft and creamy consistency.
3) Add orange juice, white wine, sugar, salt and pepper to taste to give the
soup a sweet and sour/salty note alongside the spicy taste.
