3 Safety
WARNING!
The 160E with 1 phase motor may only be connected to a grounded power
socket of the same voltage as stated on the machine data plate.
A damaged component should immediately be replaced with a new genuine
spare part. Electrical components may only be replaced by a person with
the necessary expertise.
The appliance must be disconnected from the power (remove the plug
from the power socket) before carrying out any form of intervention, e.g.
dismantling the motor assembly or replacing a micro-lter.
Take care not to spread dust when changing the plastic sack and when
replacing the micro-lter. Wear an approved breathing mask in the case of
hazardous dust.
For reasons of safety, do not put the vacuum hose inlet near the eyes, ears or
other part of the body.
The 160E is not classied as a wet vacuum cleaner. Large amounts of water
may not be sucked into the unit. However, it may be used for damp material
and in a damp environment.
Hot or red-hot material, ammable uids, explosive or health-impairing
fumes as well as dust that could cause a dust explosion must not be sucked
into the 160E. Neither must the appliance be used in environments where
such material exists.
Do not operate the 160E with a 1 phase motor when the vacuum is almost
or fully restricted. Little or no airow results in overheating of the motor.
4 Description
4.1 Function
Electrical driven, 1-phase with separately cooled motors. The appliance can be
provided with manual and automatic start/stop modes depending on the model.
With automatic start/stop, the appliance is controlled by a connected electric
tool.
The rated power, voltage, safety class, ow, working pressure, max pressure,
etc. are stated on the machine data plate. The noise level during normal
operation is 75 dB(A) according to ISO 11201.
Dust separation takes place in three stages:
Stage 1 is a collecting receptacle into which larger particles fall.
Stage 2 is a ne lter.
Stage 3 is a micro-lter (optional) with a degree of separation > 99.997%
(DOP).
Coarse particles are separated directly into the collecting receptacles plastic
sack.
If the appliance is supplied with a closed lter bag instead of a plastic sack,
most of the dust will be deposited there. Fine dust follows the upward moving
ow of air and is deposited on the outside of the lters. The appliance has
a manual function for cleaning the ne lters. The principle of the cleaning
function is that the control is switched on, creating a pressure shock to dislodge
160E SeriesEN
12
dust from the lters. The dust falls down and is collected in the plastic sack of
the receptacle.
Very small particles can pass through the lter package and on to the micro-
lter (optional). This has a very high degree of separation, > 99.997% (DOP).
The cleaned air moves on to the high-pressure fan in the motor assembly.
The air leaves the appliance via noise-abating ducts in the motor assembly. If
ow-through is too small over a sufciently long period, e.g. due to a closed
ap valve or blocked hose, the motors will become overheated. The suction
hose should therefore not be completely blocked for longer than a few seconds.
Clogged lters, which also reduce the ow of air, can result in overheating.
The appliance should not be used as a stationary vacuum appliance because of
the danger of overheating.
5 Main components
5.1 Power unit
See Figure 1. The motor assembly includes fan motor, connection cable and
starting equipment. Some models are equipped with automatic electric starters.
5.1.1 Maintenance
Replace the fan motors in the motor assembly if they are not working
satisfactorily. The motors’ carbon brushes are worn out after about 700 hours
of operation. Replacing the motor’s carbon brushes more than once is not
recommended. The motor collector becomes worn and new brushes will wear
very quickly. Replace the entire motor instead. The motor is accessible after
unscrewing the motor assembly.
5.2 Filter/Filter package
CAUTION!
The appliance should never be operated with a lter bag only, but should
always be equipped with another lter. Check regularly that the lter is not
defective.
5.3 Micro-lter (optional)
5.3.1 Installation/replacement
See Figures 2–3. Change the micro-lter once a year or more often if
vacuum performance decreases despite cleaning the ne lters. Installation/
replacement of micro-lter, see Figure 3. Use genuine micro-lters only.
Ensure that the rubber gasket on the lter seals tightly against the bottom of
the motor assembly. Leakage between micro-lter and fan inlet must not occur.
Use an approved breathing mask when changing the lters.
5.3.2 Filter package
See Figure 4.
Filter package, Cartridge (4a)
The particles collect on the outside of the lter. Cleaning of the lter is
carried out hourly or when the vacuum performance decreases. If required the
cartridge lter should be changed.
160E Series
13
EN
Filter package, PP (4b)
The particles collect on the outside of the lter. Cleaning is carried out every
other hour or when the vacuum performance decreases. Replacing the entire
lter package is recommended. When only changing the socks, the lter ring
should also be replaced.
Filter package, anti-static (4c)
The lter socks have been treated with anti-static agent and have smooth
surfaces. This means there is reduced risk of sparks and dust explosion,
and ensures better cleaning. The particles collect on the outside of the lter.
Cleaning is carried out every other hour or when the vacuum performance
decreases. Replacing the entire lter package is recommended. When only
changing the socks, the lter ring should also be replaced.
Filter package, sack (4d)
The sack should be replaced if it becomes worn, damaged or when particles
begin to penetrate.
5.4 Casing
The casing forms a container for the lter package. It is important that the
eccentric catches are secured with locking cotters, see Figure 5.
5.5 Plastic sack/Filter bag
See Figure 6. The appliance can be supplied with either a plastic sack (6a)
or a lter bag (6b) for collecting dust. Replacing is carried out in accordance
with 6c.
5.6 Receptacle
See Figure 7. All applications are supplied with receptacles. The receptacle has
a ap valve for connecting the suction hose. The ap valve closes automatically
to prevent the spread of dust when the hose is disconnected.
5.7 Frame
5.7.1 Maintenance
See Figure 8. Check the screw mountings, broken parts should be replaced.
5.8 Pressure drop indication
A high pressure drop across the lters is indicated by a lamp being lit, Figure 9
item a. The lamp is lit if the lters need to be cleaned or replaced. The lamp is
also lit when the appliance is running with the ap valve closed.
5.9 Wheel
See Figure 10. Depending on the model, the appliance can be equipped with
plastic wheels, pneumatic rubber wheels or rubber wheels ø 200 mm.
160E SeriesEN
14
6 Using 160E Series
The 160E is suitable for most types of dust in industrial applications and on
building sites. There are important exceptions, see Chapter ‘3 Safety’. Oil mist
can clog the lters.
In normal operation, without any electric tool connected, the appliance is
started in mode I. If an electric tool is connected to the 160E, the switch is
normally set in mode II.
In mode II, the appliance starts when the connected tool is started and stops
with a slight delay when the tool is stopped. See Chapter ‘6.3 Start/Stop’ for
further information.
6.1 Connecting and starting
The appliance may only be connected to a grounded power socket with
the voltage as stated on the machine data plate, see Figure 14. Information
about maximum power consumption is also given. Note that the total power
consumption may increase in certain cases of operation with electric tools
connected.
6.2 Cleaning equipment
The CE370 is used for heavy duty cleaning.
The CE370 is used for normal cleaning and industrial cleaning.
The CE370C is equipped with an anti-static suction hose for avoiding
static electricity.
6.3 Start/Stop
Electric tools can be connected to an appliance equipped with electric Start/
Stop. This does not apply to 110120 V appliance versions. Minimum power
consumption of connected tools for auto-start is 60 W. Maximum permitted
power is stated on the decal located near the power point.
The connection of tools at a higher power could result in electric overload.
7 Transport and lifting
The 160E can be transported vertically or horizontally, see Figure 12. To avoid
spreading any hazardous dust during transportation, the vacuum hose should
be disconnected from the inlet so that the ap valve closes.
The hose can be “short-circuited” by connecting the couplings at either end of
the hose. The collecting receptacle must be tted when transporting and lifting
the appliance. The eccentric catches holding the collecting receptacle must be
secured by locking cotters, see Figure 5.
Remove the cleaning equipment and other loose parts from the appliance
before lifting. Replace sack/bag in the collecting receptacle if it contains large
amounts of heavy material (>10 kg). The appliance weighs 19 kg when empty.
Attach lifting straps to the frame handle to lift the appliance, see Figure 13.
WARNING! Risk of personal injury.
It is prohibited to remain underneath the 160E when lifting. Lifting the 160E
by the handle located on top of the motor assembly is prohibited.

8 Maintenance
Read Chapter ‘3 Safety’ before carrying out maintenance.
Installation, repair and maintenance work is to be carried out by qualied
personnel using only original Nederman spare parts. Contact your nearest
authorized distributor or Nederman for advice on technical service.
NOTE! The service intervals in this chapter are based on the unit being
professionally maintained.
8.1 Cleaning
See Figure 11. The ne lters should be cleaned daily or as soon as it is felt that
the vacuum performance has decreased. Cleaning is carried out as follows:
Switch off the appliance and switch on the cleaning control about 4 times. The
control is situated on the side of the appliance, see Figure 11. If the appliance is
supplied with a closed lter bag in the collecting receptacle, there will be less
need for cleaning the ne lters. When changing from a plastic sack to a lter
bag, the ne lter must rst be thoroughly cleaned.
8.2 Spare parts
Contact your nearest authorized distributor or Nederman for advice
on technical service or if you require help with spare parts. See also
www.nederman.com.
Ordering spare parts
When ordering spare parts always state the following:
Part number and control number (see the product identication plate).
Detail number and name of the spare part (see www.nederman.com).
Quantity of the parts required.
9 Recycling
The product has been designed for component materials to be recycled.
Its different material types must be handled according to relevant local
regulations. Contact the distributor or Nederman if uncertainties arise when
scrapping the product at the end of its service life.
Most 160E components (94% of the total weight) can be recycled when
scrapping the appliance. Most of the plastic parts are labelled to facilitate
sorting. Components that at present cannot be easily recycled are wheels made
of composite material, certain parts of the top of the motor and dirty lters.
In order to meet ofcial requirements, American variants of the 160E with
1-phase motor contain ameproofed components in the motor assembly and
these contain small amounts of bromine. Bromine is classied as hazardous to
health and must be dealt with according to local directions when scrapping.

4.1 Funktion
ISO 11201.
Dammavskiljning sker i tre steg:
•Steg 1 är ett uppsamlingskärl, där större partiklar faller ner.
•Steg2ärettnlter.
•Steg3ärettmikrolter(option)medavskiljningsgraden>99,997%
(DOP).
Grova partiklar avskiljs direkt i uppsamlingsrlets plastsäck.

Byt i stället hela motorn. Motorn är åtkomlig sedan motorpaketet
skruvats isär.
